Horseshoe Gang Snaps On Eminem Banger With “Liquor Store Church Freestyle”

Last October, Eminem laced “Liquor Store Chruch, a banger for KXNG Crooked’s Family Bvsiness collective. Now, another of Crook’s associations are coming through to body Em’s production, with the Horseshoe Gang officially delivering their own “Liquor Store Church” freestyle. While the original featured a more structured approach, the Gang’s version is all about the bars — that, and showcasing the symbiotic chemistry that exists between them.

Fans of lyrically driven rap will find much to love here, as the three-minute Freestyle packs no shortage of clever punchlines and otherworldly multi-syllabic schemes. In truth, it’s almost hard to keep up with the Gang, with each member simultaneously engaging in healthy competition while seamlessly coordinating to execute their game-plan as a united front. It feels like they’re only scratching the surface, and who knows what the future might hold for the rising Long Beach quartet.

Stream the new version of “Liquor Store Church” now, delivered by the HorseShoe Gang and produced by the legendary Slim Shady.

Quotable Lyrics

Your handbag Louis, hand that to me, and that Gucci
We don’t wanna be a hashtag do we?
I’ll happily kidnap your pappy and that’ll be bag-dad
Then I’ll have a cat tattoo me
A tattoo tear on my cheek, call it Murder Ink

Slimelife Shawty Comes Back With “Still At It”

A few days back, OTF signee Slimelife Shawty came through to deliver his new single “Still At It,” complete with an accompanying video. Off the bat, the music sets a wistful tone, a fitting backdrop for Shawty’s melodic flow and defiant lyrics.

“Who woulda ever thought that the n**ga in the back of the class, riddled with swag, always smiling, he was never mad,” raps Shawty, reflecting on his come-up. “Who woulda ever thought that a n**ga with that gun in his bag, drivin’ his stolen car to school, but he ain’t goin’ to class, would win?” He affirms that he always knew he was destined for greatness, making it that much more satisfying to lord over his opposition and critics.

Check out the new song from Slimelife Shawty, who continues to build on his already impressive category. Expect big things to come when he delivers his next project, especially if he explores this sound and style further. Do you think he has the potential to rise even higher?

JPEGMAFIA Drops Off New Single “TRUST!”

JPEGMAFIA has returned with his new single “TRUST!”, announcing a string of tour dates in the process. In typical JPEG fashion, he played the instruments, mixed, and mastered this one in its entirety, and it’s likely he’ll do the same on the majority of his upcoming album. As for this one, JPEG laces a synth-driven, jittery, and mischievously whimsical beat, the likes of which is seldom seen in hip-hop music.

It’s part — but certainly not all — of what sets JPEG apart from his peers. That originality, an unapologetic willingness to pursue whatever musical instinct may arise within him. Here, he quietly navigates his production as he spits a pair of back-to-back verses; though the subject matter he covers lyrically here might not be the most original, the entire package is so strange it feels undeniably unique.

Check out JPEGMAFIA’s latest right here, and show some love to the Baltimore rapper if you’re excited for his next album.

Saigon & Benny The Butcher Clear The Scene On “No Witness”

One of the grittiest MCs from New York has now made that Upstate connection on his new banger. Saigon slid through this weekend with the release of the Benny The Butcher-assisted record, “No Witness.” The two lyrical heavyweights connect over an energizing soul sample where they lay down the law. Saigon’s animated internal rhyme schemes depict threatening punchlines filled with humor. Meanwhile, Benny The Butcher lays down references to Future and slick punchlines that keep his 2021 momentum high.

Saigon’s latest single arrives after the release of his March project, Pain, Peace & Prosperity featuring Memphis Bleek, Axel Leon, and more.

Benny The Butcher also recently dropped the Pyrex Picasso EP which arrived on the heels of Trust The Sopranos and The Plugs I Met 2.

OMB Peezy Drops Off “Chris Rock”

Chris Rock might not have dropped any bars in his career but he’s also been a fixture within the hip-hop community. Whether it’s incorporating commentary on the culture in his comedy specials or simply showing face at a concert or listening party, his support for hip-hop as a member of Hollywood’s elite have earned him plenty of shout outs over the years.

This week, OMB Peezy slid through with a brand new single titled after the comedian. Peezy brings on spacey trap production while putting his mellifluent delivery on display. While Peezy’s been able to evoke emotions of pain in his career, his latest record showcases a more upbeat, fun side of his artistry.

Westside Boogie Warms Up With New Freestyle

True, the wait between Everything’s For Sale and his yet-to-be-released Shady Records sophomore album is getting a little unbearable, but Westside Boogie hasn’t exactly left fans high and dry. In addition to a few stage-setting skits, Westside Boogie has been generously sharing new freestyles throughout the past year — including the brand new “Glory Of The God.”

As per tradition, Westside Boogie keeps this one brief, clocking in at a little over one minute. Still, there are enough bars to ensure satisfaction and should Boogie be bringing this energy when his album does arrive, were likely in for a treat. The Compton emcee’s clever pen game and understated delivery keep him engaging throughout. “What’s a fight when it was titans that I sparred,” he raps. “That’s how I ended up with lightning in a jar / you gon die behind a bar.”

We look forward to hearing what he’s been cooking up on a larger scale — check out “Glory Of The God” now, and sound off below.

Soulja Boy Releases “Shawn Carter (Jay-Z)” Amid Kanye West Feud

Those who remember Soulja Boy’s mixtape run can recall just how frequently he was releasing music. It was almost overwhelming at times but fans have grown to love the Swag series quite a bit. Though he’s been on a mission to establish himself as a tech entrepreneur, he’s constantly reminding people of his rise in the game, and his contributions.

With Swag 4 set to drop this week, Soulja Boy revealed a brand new single paying homage to Marcy Projects’ own pride & joy, Jay-Z. The rapper tackles a villainous beat, declaring off the rip, “Fuck these n***as talkin’.” The three-minute joint finds Soulja Boy describing is hustle while finding parallels to Hov’s. “Chop that rock like S. Carter/ Pull up in a brand new Ferrari, the project’s Marcy,” he raps in reference to Hov’s stomping grounds.

Max B Reflects On Prison Bid On “75 In The Can”

Max B might be incarcerated but he’s keeping his presence felt in the streets. Or at least, he has been in the past year or so. He dropped off House Money in 2019 before unleashing Wave Pack in 2020. On top of that, he’s dropped off several new singles and feature verses as fans await his next studio album, Negro Spiritual. On Friday, he unveiled two new songs — “Revolution” and “75 In The Can.” The latter pulls West Coast influences on the production, lining up funky bass lines with ghost synths that sound like they’re straight out of the late 90s as he reflects on his bid behind bars.

“When I blew trial and got convicted the judge felt the need to sentence the Ol Boy Bigggaveli to 75 years,” he said in a statement. “Since then, my sentence has been vacated. This is just another example of how I always persevere, I took that 75 years and made it a wave! As I always do…another hard quality record for the culture!”

Quotable Lyrics
Bring out the cooler
Pour the Dom, Veli the Boss Don numero uno
Sour diesel all in the air, coughing up a lung
Gotta million in jewelry on, walking through the slums

Max B Claims His Stake In The Rap Game On “Revolution”

The people are still screaming Max B as he remains in prison. The hopeful part is that his 75-year sentence has been vacated and with that, he’s been delivering brand new music for the people on a consistent basis. In the coming weeks, he’ll drop his new studio album Negro Spirituals and today, he’s unveiled two new singles, including “Revolution.” The rapper’s wavy style takes the forefront of this new single over piercing synths as he details his resilience in the face of adversity. “The narratives I engage, twenty years in the cage/ Twenty years as a slave, ni-ni-n***a please,” he raps on the record.

“The concept for this one marinated for some time before I laid this baby down,” he said of the song. “I just want people to hear me out. This entire new album I’m saying look at me, look at what I’ve sacrificed to give y’all this sound, love and appreciate it. I didn’t have the luyricsxury to just sit in the lab for hours and record nothing, I can just write for that matter. I want the people to know I’m still hungry, I’m laying the ground work for when I get out and they go back they go see ‘Negro Spirituals’! ‘Revolution’ is just a taste so get ready for the ride.”

Quotable Lyrics
Some hammers and DVDs, couple of ’em fried
The witnesses on the stand, couple of ’em lied
They want me to take a plea, some pull up and hide
The Bentley pull up and swerve, some pull up and glide
She fuck with them BNBs, I look at the sky
Them fuckers they think could see me, I pull out the nine
Leave them fuckers nice and dreamy and send ’em up to die

GRIP Absolutely Snaps On “Momma Told Me!”

Last Friday, Atlanta lyricist GRIP delivered his Shady Records debut I Died For This!?, a project that features appearances from Eminem, Royce Da 5’9″, and more. For those newcomers who dove into the album following his Shady deal, it quickly became evident that GRIP is a beast when it comes to the bars — and given its early placement on the sequence, it’s likely that “Momma Told Me!” drove the point home with enthusiasm.

After warming up in the opening verse, GRIP proceeds to absolutely snap in the second, unleashing a barrage of clever bars over a futuristic banger by TU! and Beat Butcha. “Profit four Gs, then shop for gold teeth, never had a pops, you cannot control me,” he raps, locking into a whirlwind flow scheme. “Ni*gas take shots and get cropped, Adobe.” It’s really no wonder that Em saw such potential in GRIP, and it’s all too easy to imagine him beaming with pride upon hearing this one on the studio monitors.

Check out “Momma Told Me!”, a highlight off GRIP’s brand new album, and show support to the new Shady signee in the comments below.
