Soulja Boy Drops Off New Single “Johnny Cage”

It’s been a rollercoaster of a year for Soulja Boy who has been delivering some pretty solid records. Songs like “She Make It Clap” became viral sensations while “Rick N Morty” recently received a video treatment alongside Rich The Kid. Even with the influx of new music that he’s been dropping over the past few months, including his album Big Draco, it seems like he’s returning to a similar grind reminiscent of his mixtape days.

The rapper’s keeping the momentum up with a brand new project this Friday titled, “Swag 4.” Over the past few days, he’s shared several records including “Shawn Carter (Jay-Z).” Though no Kanye West diss record dropped, he came through with a Mortal Kombat-inspired single titled, “Johnny Cage.”

Swag 4 drops Sept. 3rd.

Injury Reserve Unleash Their Disorienting New Single “Superman That”

In a little over a week, Injury Reserve will be dropping By The Time I Get to Phoenix, its second studio album and first full-length since the passing of Jordan “Stepa J.” Groggs. Last month, the alternative Hip-Hop group resurfaced for the first time in well over a year to announce the new album and give listener’s a glimpse of their new sound with the single “Knees.”

Now, a week ahead of the album’s release, Injury Reserve is back with a second single, a chaotic and disorienting song titled “Superman That.” Following some Death Grips-level distortion, Ritchie with a T sings about a hopeless situation and repeats, “Ain’t no savin’ me, ain’t no savin’ me, or you.”

Like “Knees,” “Superman That” feels far more abstract than the group’s earlier output, which likely aligns with the previously teased “improvisatory” style. Listen to the brief, yet memorable new single from Injury Reserve and let us know if you’re a fan of the group’s newfound direction in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics

I could feel it in my bones, man, it’s true, what they on?
Are you sure that you grown? Are you built like you strong?
You can keep what you said, just tell me, please
Now you reap what you sow
You could treat your words with knowledge
But that’s just how that shit go

SoFaygo Announces Cactus Jack Signing & Releases “Let’s Lose Our Minds”

Thanks to his viral TikTok hit “Knock Knock” and fan-favorite solo projects Lucky 7 and After Me, SoFaygo is right on the brink of breaking through to Hip-Hop’s mainstream. Earlier this summer, the 19-year-old rapper spoke with HNHH for the Rise & Grind editorial series, moments before taking the stage in front of a sold-out venue in Atlanta. A month later, SoFaygo made a showstopping appearance on Trippie Redd’s “MP5.” Now, the rising artist is opening his vault and treating fans to a song that he has been teasing since the start of 2021.

Packaged alongside a stunning music video, “Let’s Lose Our Minds” serves as SoFaygo’s first solo single since dropping off After Me last December, and the melodic new track is an infectious effort that demonstrates his dynamic versatility. In tandem with the release of “Let’s Lose Our Minds,” SoFaygo has also officially announced his signing with Cactus Jack, making him the latest addition to Travis Scott’s talented record label.

DijahSB & Mick Jenkins Link Up On “Here To Dance”

Shortly after declaring Mick Jenkins to be top-five material — a notion he previously put forth during our latest interview — DijahSB of Toronto has officially delivered their new collaboration with the Chi-town lyricist.

“This is a dream collab for me,” explains Dijah, speaking in a press release for the single. “Mick soundtracked my entire 2019/2020 year, working retail I used to listen to him to and from work. From then I’ve deemed him one of my favorite rappers.” On this one, however, Mick opts for a more melodic approach, allowing his collaborator to do the bulk of the spitting. On that note, Dijah is more than up to the task, riding the laid-back synthesizer beat with an easygoing swagger.

Look for DijahSB’s upcoming album Tasty Raps Vol 1, due out for release on September 17th. For more on where that came from, be sure to check out our new Rise & Grind interview with DijahSB, which you can check out right here.

Meek Mill Drops “Blue Notes 2” Ft. Lil Uzi Vert

It looks like those street bike sessions weren’t for nothing. In early July, City Girls star JT joked about being upset with boyfriend Lil Uzi Vert who opted to stay out all night riding around on street bikes with Meek Mill rather than come home. She later clarified that she wasn’t angry that he was out too late but rather, she isn’t a fan of the bikes. A week later, Meek and Uzi were spotted filming a music video.

Rather than wait for New Music Friday—which is shaping up to be a big one this week thanks to Drake and Certified Lover Boy—Meek decided to drop his Uzi collaboration right now. “Blue Notes 2,” a follow-up to the 2016 track of the same name, arrives on the heels of “Sharing Locations,” a track that was assisted by Lil Durk and Lil Baby.

Over the weekend, a fan tweeted Meek asking when they could expect his next project and he revealed that it would come in a “matter of days,” so we’ll keep you posted on that. In the meantime, stream Meek Mill’s “Blue Notes 2” featuring Lil Uzi Vert and let us know what you think.

DaBaby Flips WizKid’s “Essence” On His New Freestyle

DaBaby has done what most others wouldn’t in the face of cancellation — release new music. The rapper’s grind didn’t stop following his comments at Rolling Loud that sparked controversy. He maintained that even if he is facing backlash, he won’t start hiding like other celebrities.

This week, he kept the ball moving with his new freestyle over WizKid’s “Essence” ft. Tems. The rapper takes on the breezy afrobeats-tinged production with rapid-fire flows, delivering sheer confidence in his abilities behind the mic.

The latest freestyle from DaBaby comes hours after he sat down with several HIV awareness organizations where he heard from people living with HIV. The rapper was said to be genuinely engaged in the conversation and offered a sincere apology for his comments last month.

Check out his new freestyle below.

Ralo Unveils His Latest Single “I Want It” Ft. Jacquees & Jessica Dime

The streets are still calling for Ralo’s freedom and in recent times, there have been even more efforts to get him released from behind bars. Even as he deals with incarceration, the rapper’s maintained his presence in the rap game. He’s released a few projects and in September, he’ll be unveiling his new body of work, Political Prisoner.

Today, he slid through with a brand new offering off of the project titled “I Want It.” With assistance from Jacquees and Jessica Dime, the rapper delivers a slow-burning banger that’s meant to cater to the ladies.

Most recently, a letter was sent to president Joe Biden calling for Ralo’s release from prison which included signatures from Drake, Meek Mill, Killer Mike and more.

Political Prisoner drops Sept. 10th.

Wiki Returns With New Single “Roof,” Announces New Album

Wiki has returned with a pair of new singles in “Roof” and “Remarkably,” the former of which is highlighted right here. Produced by Navy Blue — who is also holding it down behind the boards on Wiki’s upcoming album Half God — “Roof” is a promising new drop from the consistent New York bar spitter.

With the album set to be released on October 1st with guest appearances from Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE, Remy Banks, and Jesse James Soloman, it’s likely we’ll be looking at another strong underground release to further round out an already strong year. “Roof” certainly sets a striking tone, as Wiki lets fly a brutally honest stream of consciousness verse over Navy Blue’s minimalist sample flip.

If you’re here, there’s a fair chance you know what Wiki is all about. If so, be sure to stream “Roof” now, and look for the entire album when it drops at the top of October.

Smoke Bulga Connects With Rick Ross On “Water Whip’n”

The MMG empire isn’t necessarily gripping the rap game the way it once was at the beginning of the 2010s but Rick Ross continues to find excellent talent that he can bring to the world. This week, he announced the singing of Smoke Bulga to Maybach Music Group and commemorated the occasion with the release of “Water Whip’n.” Ross kicks off his new collab with Bulga who showcases his fierce bars over a sample of Black Rob’s “Whoa.”

“It really feels like Draft Day because I’m teaming up with one of the best to ever do it in Rozay with one of the premier labels in hip-hop history,” Bulga told Billboard of the deal. “MMG has long represented excellence and I look forward to representing the new generation of MMG starting with this new ‘Water Whip’n’ release.”
