Wiki & Mike Slide On “Promised”

Wiki’s left his imprint on the culture for the past decade since his efforts alongside Sporting Life and Hak as Ratking. The group has taken a hiatus of sorts in the past few years but that doesn’t mean they’ve left fans high and dry. Each member has pushed forward with solo releases, specifically Wiki who’s delivered several projects in recent years. In 2019, he offered Oofie, and at the top of the summer, he linked up with Nah for their joint project, Telephone Booth.

Now, Wiki is preparing the release of his forthcoming project Half God which drops at the top of next month. Ahead of its release, he’s shared his new single, “Promised” ft. MIKE and produced by Navy Blue.

Quotable Lyrics
It’s too early for all the urgency, my brain feels like been in and out of surgery
Open up the curtains, see everything the world conceived, left to me
Not no unnecessaries, only necessities, the bear ones have you cherishing
Your sense of Qi sets you free, just don’t take a turn down the wrong street

TwoTiime Keeps It Honest On “Juice”

If there’s one artist from Canada that you should start paying attention to now is TwoTiime. Hailing from Canada’s capital, the Ottawa rapper has been making some serious plays since the success of “Hood Cry.” Since then, he’s received a glowing co-sign from Polo G after he was personally invited to L.A. to link with the Chicago rapper ahead of the release of Hall Of Fame

This week, the rapper returned with a brand new single titled, “Juice.” Serving as the follow-up to last month’s “Did A Lot,” the rapper details the reality of streets and losing friends because of it. “I lost love for the streets/ So much anxiety I ain’t never get no sleep,” he raps on the record.

“If you listen to the lyrics, it touches on me going through a lot of things and doing anything I can to numb the pain,” he said of the song.

Headie One Slides Through With “Beggars Can’t Be Choosers”

Over the past few months, Headie One has been offering new singles in anticipation of his follow-up to 2020’s EDNA. His last release turned out to be the project that garnered international attraction, especially with names like Drake and Future attached to the tracklist. His recent singles have been a return to from of sorts. Bringing it back to the sounds of UK drill and road rap, he came through with a brand new single this week titled, “Beggars Can’t Be Choosers.” Though it lacks the sinister stylings that make up the UK sound, the more upbeat production allows Headie One to celebrate all of his accomplishments and wins over the years.

Keys N Krates Enlists Juicy J, Chip & Marbl On “Original Classic”

Toronto based electronic duo Keys N Krates have been pushing the boundaries since they emerged in 2008. They combine the ethos of electronic music with live instrumentation for a truly unique experience, both on wax and during their live sets. This week, they announced their forthcoming project, Original Classic which is due out later this month. Accompanying the announcement was the release of the project’s title track which includes appearances from Juicy J, Chip, and Marbl.

“We love taking unlikely people, and putting them on unlikely beats while making the whole thing feel very organically like its own vibe. Jazzy voiced wavy chords, 808s, eerie strings, Afro-Brazillian rhythms; with Juicy J, Chip, and Marbl going crazy but sitting in a hypnotic pocket that feels driving and timeless,” they said in a statement.

Tory Lanez Switches Up His Flow While Remixing Capella Grey’s “Gyalis”

Throughout his career, Tory Lanez has always been a master when it comes to the remix. While the artist was eventually able to find his voice with his own music, there is no doubt that Lanez shines when giving his own interpretation of well-established songs. Just a few months ago, Capella Grey came out with a song of the summer contender called “Gyalis,” and now, Tory is back with a quick 1:45 remix of the track that does a great job at paying homage to the original.

With this track, Lanez keeps the original production and matches the tone of the track with his delivery. As he begins the track, he starts off with a bit of a softer tone although it crescendos into a new flow where Lanez is able to flex his vocal capabilities. Overall, it is a very solid effort and fans of the original will definitely want to check out this song.

Yung Bans is a veteran when it comes to the generation that came up on SoundCloud. For quite a few years now, Bans has been consistently releasing new music and he doesn’t have any plans of stopping. Bans is known for his lowkey voice and oftentimes humorous lyrics, which shine through on his brand new song “Blow Her Back Out” with KA$HDAMI.

In this track, Yung Bans raps about exactly what you would expect based on the title. The lyrics will make you chuckle at times, especially when KA$HDAMI comes in with his nonchalant flow that understands the assignment. Overall, both artists do their thing and it makes for a fun song that doesn’t require too much processing power.

Lil Nas X Presents His Hit-Making Capabilities On “Lost In The Citadel”

Lil Nas X continues to be one of the biggest artists in the world right now and while plenty of people are quick to hate on him, there is no denying that he knows how to put a catchy song together. His latest project MONTERO is being heralded for its consistency on the songwriting front, and tracks like “Lost In The Citadel” are getting plenty of love on social media.

On this track, in particular, Lil Nas X can be heard singing over some pop-rock-inspired production that helps give you that emotional feel. The artist is found singing about relationships and heartbreak that can be overwhelming at times. Throughout the album, these themes are explored quite a bit although “Lost In The Citadel” feels like the true synthesis of these thoughts and feelings. Overall, it’s a great effort from Nas X and it can be streamed, below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Why I thought it was forever?
I only see you maybe never
Why I thought we’d be together?
When you treat it like whatever?

CJ Teams Up With El Alfa For Latin Trap-Inspired Track “Réplica”

CJ has been having a big moment over the past year, especially after the release of his viral hit song “Whoopty” which is still getting plays. Since that time, he has released a new project and he has even started dabbling in Latin music. For instance, this past week, CJ teamed up with Dominican artist El Alfa for a brand new track called “Réplica” which as the name suggests, is all about fake goods.

With this track, we get a banging Latin trap-inspired beat, all while CJ and El Alfa have fun trading verses and choruses. Throughout the song, El Alfa gives us an aggressive flow, especially in the chorus as he repeats the word Réplica over and over again all while giving us “fake” ad-libs. CJ is also interesting in the song as he goes for a more lowkey approach.

You can check out the new track, down below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Replica, fake, ass fake, titties fake
Mami, ¿qué lo que? Eh
Step in the place and they put it in my face (Ey)
I know that it’s fake, but it’s still gon’ shake

Curren$y Enlists Valee On Kino Beats-Produced “Barbed Wire Fence”

There’s no shortage of music when it comes to Jet Life Recordings. If it’s not one of the many talents on the roster, it’s the head honcho Curren$y that’s flooding the streets with laid-back tunes largely meant to have in rotation when you’re lighting up. This year, Spitta’s already dropped off three projects, along with a Jet Life compilation project that arrived at the tail end of June but he has a slew of other tapes that he’s rolling out including this week’s Matching Rolexes.

Curren$y and Kino Beats teamed up for the collaborative effort which includes the Valee-assisted record, “Barbed Wire Fence.” Kino cooks up a hypnotic trap instrumental that provides a spacious canvas for Spitta and Valee’s laidback flows to offer luxe flexes.
