Jordan Hollywood Returns With New Single “Pleasure”

Quality Control’s own Jordan Hollywood has been steadily building buzz, and today the Florida rapper has come through with his brand new single “Pleasure.” Despite what the title may suggest, however, Hollywood uses the opportunity to reflect on some of his internal struggles.

“Coach and P changed my life forever so I’m always loyal,” he raps, with a melodic flow. “Growing up never had shit, make sure my baby spoiled / used to be depressed, that lasted a while / bought a Johnny Dang grill, hoping that it’d help me smile.” It’s an introspective drop from Hollywood, and it will be interesting to see how this one stands in the context of his upcoming album Only The Paranoid Survive. Clearly, there’s a lot going inside the rapper’s mind, and no doubt his fans will be eager to see the full picture.

What do you think about Jordan Hollywood’s latest single?

Quotable Lyrics

Coach and P changed my life forever so I’m always loyal
Growing up never had shit, make sure my baby spoiled
Used to be depressed, that lasted a while
Bought a Johnny Dang grill, hoping that it’d help me smile

SahBabii Remembers His Late Friend On “Bread Head”

SahBabii is taking his music to a different place, getting a little more serious in his latest single release. Known for his nautical sea references, humorous ad-libs, and his projects Squidtastic and Barnacles, SahBabii is switching things up on his new song “Bread Head,” which is off his upcoming project Do It For Demon.

The body of work, which was announced earlier on Thursday, will focus primarily on SahBabii’s feelings of grief after losing his close friend Demon, who was a family friend and actually lived with the rapper’s family. “Bread Head” is the first single to drop from the forthcoming project and it shows a more serious side of SahBabii, while also giving his day-one fans some of the references and ad-libs that they’ve grown to love and expect. This next era seems to be pretty evolutionary for Sah, and we’re tuned in for it all.

Listen to his new single below and keep it locked to hear more about Do It For Demon in the coming weeks.

Quotable Lyrics:

Long live the Demon, he gone come back from the dead
I just pulled up to the bank, withdrawed some cash, same price as your head
Pull up on your block like I do locs and dye your dreads
I just caught a body-ody, four-five bullets thick like Meg

Sheff G Drops Off “Drum Dummy”

Sheff G has officially turned twenty-three today. To celebrate, the Brooklyn rapper has come through to deliver a new single “Drum Dummy,” which arrives complete with some animated visuals. Featuring his longtime collaborator GreatJohn on the beat, the track gives Sheff ample space for introspection, showcasing a different side of his artistry.

“Now she wanna rub on me, hold my gun for me, thinkin’ she the one for me,” reflects G, speaking on his inability to fully trust anyone outside of his immediate circle. “I’m up, they wanna see me back down, they left me, the same ones, they turnin’ back now.” It’s a story all too often experienced by young rappers, and it’s impressive to see Sheff G meeting his opposition with strong will and a defiant spirit.

Check out the rapper’s new song “Drum Dummy” now, and be sure to show some birthday appreciation for Sheff G in the comments below.

Quotable Lyrics

BlueBucksClan Got Questions To Ask On “When? Where?”

When it comes to the West Coast, BlueBucksClan have been holding it down as one of the hottest duos in hip-hop. Their 2020 run cemented the regional buzz, as another wave of L.A.-based artists emerged. However, it was 2021 that saw them reaching a new streak in their careers. Clan Virus 2 has been going crazy with singles like “Lil League” ft. Hit-Boy and Quavo. However, it looks like a new project is in the pipeline, or at least, a deluxe edition.

This week, BlueBucksClan shared another new single titled, “When? Where?” Produced by AyyMook who cooks up a spooky instrumental that leads BlueBucksClan to call out all of the fake flexers.

The latest single from BlueBucksClan follows the release of “Come Again.” Peep “When? Where?” by BlueBucksClan below.

Quotable Lyrics
Yeah, I seen you up in Fendi, yeah, you had a lot of questions
Walkin’ out with no bags, what you spend?
Lotta blowers in the bag, walkin’ in the club,
Pass them mothafuckas off once we in

Roy Woods Flips WizKid & Tems “Essence”

It’s officially fall, so it’s safe to say that WizKid and Tems’ 2020 single, “Essence” was officially the song of the summer. The record became an inescapable smash after Justin Bieber hopped on the remix, leading it to topping the Billboard Hip-Hop & R&B charts. A slew of rappers has put their spin on the song like DaBaby, Ghostface Killah, and Raekwon.

Now, we’ve received a brand new RoyMix from OVO Sound’s Roy Woods. His gentle melodies bring his signature mesh of R&B and dancehall melodies that help turn the record into something of his own.

Roy Woods has dropped a few singles this year following the release of 2020’s Dem Times project such as “Touch You” and “Too Much” with Dimitri Vegas.

Quotable Lyrics
I’m the one
She gon’ call me, once she leave

22Gz Seeks Vengeance On “Retaliation”

Brooklyn’s own 22Gz has played a significant in bringing the regional drill scene to the masses, even if he doesn’t get his rightful credit. Regardless, he’s been putting in work with numerous quality projects like Blixky Tapes 1 2. The latter just dropped earlier this year and he’s been riding high off of its release. However, his recent freestyle on Funk Flex is a strong indication that there’s another project in the pipeline for the year.

This week, he followed up his single, “Steppers” with a gritty new banger titled, “Retaliation.” The rapper takes on an eerie trap beat with details of vengeance on his mind. “Three deep, calls us the Migos/ Run up on ’em while he playing cee-lo,” he raps. “Heart rate, we gon’ turn it to zero.”

Check his new track below.

Quotable Lyrics
What I spent on my chain and my wrist is savings
Catch ’em and fry ’em like bacon
We gon’ make ’em a day, turn ’em to a patient
Soon as we get the location

Smooky MarGielaa Demonstrates His Versatility On The A$AP Rocky-Assisted “BALLERINA”

On Tuesday evening, Smooky MarGielaa discreetly uploaded some heat to his SoundCloud. The 19-year-old A$AP-affiliated artist unearthed a melodic and artsy new song titled “BALLERINA,’ which also comes with an exciting new guest feature from A$AP Rocky.

Although A$AP Rocky’s contribution to “BALLERINA” is mainly just a hook, his short intro on the track does feel like a return to form for the Harlem-bred rapper, and both he and Smooky MarGielaa sound right at home over the detached, orchestral interpolation of “Where Is My Mind?” by Pixies. Memorable moments include Rocky’s shout-out to Rihanna, the clever interpolation of Beenie Man’s “Who Am I? (Sim Simma),” and Smooky’s varied and high-energy performance throughout the track.

According to a recent Instagram story post from Smooky, the post was only able to be shared for free on SoundCloud due to sample clearance issues. Considering the positive response that the track has been getting so far, hopefully Smooky will be able to get Pixies’ approval sooner than later.

Check out Smooky MarGielaa and A$AP Rocky’s new track “BALLERINA” below and let us know in the comments if you’re hoping their collab eventually makes its way to streaming services.

Quotable Lyrics

Mamacita, a li’l margarita
A li’l shot tequila
And now you dancing like a ballerina
Have you seen her?
Balenciaga sneaker
Ain’t new to product either

Travie McCoy Takes It Back With New Single “Love Me Back To Life”

Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy made his official solo debut 10 years ago with the release of Lazarus. Roughly a decade later, and he’s preparing for the release of a brand new sophomore album. This summer, he shared the single, “Spoonful Of Cinnamon,” marking his first release in a few years. Today, he shared the second single off of the forthcoming project titled, “Love Me Back To Life.” If “Spoonful” was a reflection of the days of Papercut Chronicles, his latest single certainly picks up a similar vibe to his debut album. The subtle funk and soulfulness vibrate through the production while Travie flexes his vocal chops a bit heavier than his bars. In the song, Travie details the hunt for his better half following tumultuous relationships.

“It’s a song about finding your twin flame after years of failed relationship,” said Travie about the single. “You start to grow more and more cold and detached when you begin to think you may die alone. I’m a true believer that there is someone out there for EVERYONE but it took a very long time and lots of broken hearts to come to that realization. This song is for my second half.”

A music video for the single dropped today, as well, featuring appearances from Gata and more.

Check out the latest record from Travie McCoy below and make sure you read our in-depth interview with the GCH frontman here.

Quotable Lyrics
And now I’m starting to see
There’s some part of me
That found happiness is disaster
Now I could breathe
‘Cause you made me believe
There’s a happily ever after

Lucky Daye Drops “Over” & Enlists Jordyn Woods For Official Visuals

The Grammy-nominated R&B crooner Lucky Daye returned to the scene today, dropping a new single “Over” and visuals starring social media star and former Kardahian-Jenner cohort, Jordyn Woods.

The single, which features a luxurious, string-driven instrumental with a Musiq Soulchild “Halfcrazy” sample laid in, is a tale of trying to have too much at one time. Through his potent lyrics and visuals, Lucky shows us the perils of trying to maintain a relationship while the constraints and obligations of an ever-evolving celebrity life and the realization that he must first take care of what is around him before he can turn his focus to everything on the outside.

In a record and visuals which find Daye and Woods finding their way to each other, the New Orleans native really bares it all here, diving inside his own mind and thought process as life speeds up and distractions prove to be more distracting. Following February’s Table For Two and a recent Jimmy Kimmel performance of “How Much Can A Heart Take” featuring breakout-star Yebba (“How Much Can A Heart Take” is featured on Table for Two) “Over” is the perfect next step for the singer after Painted and Grammy-nominated and notable toxic single, “On Read” with Tiana Major9.

Quotable Lyrics

I’m just tryna get closure
But you keep pulling me closer and closer
Phone ringing like over and
‘Cause you keep calling me back
Why you keep calling me back?
