Lil Keed & Rylo Rodriguez Assist Millie Go Lightly On “Jealousy”

No matter what, Young Thug will remain one of the most influential artists of the 2010s. If it’s not his groundbreaking approach to trap music, it’s his ability to spot talent. The release of Beautiful Thugger Girls included a breakout appearance from UK singer Millie Go Lightly on “Family Don’t Matter” and “She Wanna Party.” Fast forward four years, and she’s preparing to fully establish herself as an artist of her own right.

After releasing collabs alongside Landstrip Chip and Lil Gnar this year, she’s returned with a lush new single titled, “Jealousy” ft. Lil Keed and Rylo Rodriguez. Quay Global holds the production with spacey, piano-laden production as Millie’s angelic harmonies take the lead. Rylo and Keed’s unique takes on melodic rap offer authentic grittiness without making it sound too forced.

Millie Go Lightly has a bright future ahead. We’re excited to hear what she has cooked up for the final quarter of 2021.

Quotable Lyrics
How can I hide jealousy?
Until you ask me out or buy a diamond ring for me
‘Cause I can’t even lie to you
I’m out of my mind ’til you feel the same

Kodie Shane Returns With “FaceTime” Single Featuring Rick Ross

Atlanta-raised recording artist Kodie Shane has officially returned with her new single “FaceTime,” featuring legendary rapper Rick Ross.

The new record was released on Monday following weeks of teases from the former Sailing Team member. Kodie has been hyping up her new music for a little while, getting fans prepared for her return. She didn’t go about this all by herself though, bringing Rick Ross along for the ride.

The soulful ballad features a catchy hook and verse from Kodie Shane before Rozay steps in for a show-stealing feature.

This marks the first new single from a refreshed Kodie Shane, who has emerged with a new sound, a new look, and a new outlook on life. Check out her new single below and let us know what you think.

Quotable Lyrics:

She said, “Just come over, I’m so tired of FaceTime”
She said, “If you wanted to, then you would make time”
She said, “If I wanted to, the world could be mine”
She said, “If I wanted to, the world could be mine”

Lonr. Drops Off New Single “Red Light”

Los Angeles’ own Lonr. has come through with his new single “RED LIGHT,” immediately capturing a distinct tone from the opening moments. Fueled by a synthesizer that all but begs for a pulsating drumbeat to back it, Lonr. kicks things off with an autotuned “yeah” before unleashing a melody that grounds it firmly in melodic emo-rap territory.

For those who can appreciate the subgenre, Lonr’s latest single may prove an interesting vibe — though it’s ultimately over before it can really pick up steam. While short songs have become an undeniable part of today’s musical climate, they have the unfortunate side effect of masking an artist’s songwriting potential. It would have been interesting to see Lonr. take this one further, as there are certainly enough interesting melodies throughout — what do you think about “RED LIGHT?”

Quotable Lyrics

It’s kill or be killed and she just want to eat
Little bitch get up out my way
I can’t sit still, bout to blow, trip landmine

J. Cole Delivered His Debut 10 Years Ago With “Dollar and a Dream III”

It’s hard to imagine a time where J. Cole was a rookie in the rap game, with the words “buzzing” still associated with his moniker. And yet, ten years ago when he released his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story, he was still looking to make a welcome first impression. Given that much of Cole’s appeal was (and remains) his lyricism, it’s no surprise that the Dreamville rapper opted to kick things off with an impactful opening statement.

At nearly five minutes, “Dollar And A Dream III” feels like a fitting way to start a major label debut, setting a tone that bars can and should be expected. Scored by a majestic instrumental reminiscent of The Legend Of Zelda, Cole spits the lore of a legend in the making. Where older artists tend to benefit from hindsight and introspection, the Cole of ten years prior rapped with a notable hunger, a drive to rise above and truly seize the opportunity at hand.

Given that The Off-Season remains an Album Of The Year contender ten years later, it’s safe to say that the dream was achieved and then some. Revisit where Cole’s solo discography began right now, on the milestone anniversary of Cole World: The Sideline Story.

Quotable Lyrics

When everyone I see is broke, get lost in weed smoke
Knowin’ it make it worse, thoughts roam uncontrollably
Barely trustin’ ni**as, over a decade they been knowin’ me
Shit, life at the bottom, nobody but God got em’
They say he wouldn’t leave me, yet I’m fallin’ like it’s Autumn
Tell me, what do you do just when you’re on your last dollar
And the stress of this mess you in can make your ass holla?

Amber Mark Shares New Single “What It Is”

It’s been nearly four years since Amber Mark delivered her project 3:33am. Though fans have been longing for another body of work, she’s been offering a few singles while the anticipation builds. Thankfully, we won’t be waiting too much longer as she’s announced her debut album,  Three Dimensions Deep. This week, she shared a groovy new single to accompany its announcement titled, “What It Is.” It’s an excellent, soothing way to kick off the campaign for her forthcoming project.

Three Dimensions Deep is a musical journey of what questions you begin to ask yourself when you start looking to the universe for answers. I can only go as deep as the third dimension as that’s how we see the world, but what about when you start looking to the universe within for answers,” she said of her new album.

Her new album is due out on Jan. 28, 2022.

Quotable Lyrics

So God tell me please

G-Eazy Keeps It Bay Area AF On “Now, Later, Next” Ft. E-40, ShooterGang Kony & DaBoii

Over the years, G-Eazy’s gone from bubbling West Coast artist to a household name. If we’re being honest, it largely has to do with his pop sensibilities and creating pop-friendly hip-hop that will surely find its way onto radio rotation. However, at the end of the day, he’s still a Bay Area kid at heart who grew up on the Hyphy movement. That’s something that he makes sure to always give credit to on every single one of his albums.

This week, the rapper returned with the long-awaited sequel to 2014’s These Things Happen. One of the highlights on the project is a song titled, “Now, Later, Next.” On this record, he brings the Bay Area vibes with some assistance from E-40, DaBoii, and ShooterGang Kony.

Check the song out below.

Quotable Lyrics

I killed the pussy, I should give it a memorial

Lakeyah Locks In With Tyga & OG Parker For “In Person”

From slam poet to the next-up from the Quality Control roster, Lakeyah has proven to have both the appeal and the bars to become a star in her own right. This year, specifically, she’s been putting things in motion. The release of In Due Time at the top of the year had fans incredibly excited for her next moves, especially as she flexed her penmanship and her pop sensibilities, as well.

This week, she returned with her very own Gangsta Grillz mixtape hosted by DJ Drama. Though she handled the majority of the tracklist on her own, she does enlist the help of Tyga and OG Parker for “In Person.” The infectious banger has the potential the dominate strip clubs everywhere as it leans closer towards Tyga’s signature sound, thanks to OG Parker.

Check out the highlight off of My Time (Gangsta Grillz: Special Edition) below.

NBA Youngboy Revs Up On “Forgiato”

NBA Youngboy’s only gotten bigger since he first broke out with the release of “Free Smoke.” The rapper’s dedicated fanbase have been riding for him everywhere, including in most comment sections where they are willing to shit on your fave by stating, “YB Better.” In fact, the rapper ended up using that for billboards in promotion of his latest album, Sincerely, Kentrell.

Youngboy’s album is entirely featureless, offering fans a body of work consisting of the rapper’s unadulterated thoughts and feelings. While there are melancholic moments where YB describes struggles with mental health and addiction, he offers a fiery banger with “Forgiato.” Riding smooth Southern production handled by Dubba-AA, Mike Laury, and The Lottery, NBA Youngboy comes through swinging with aggression and defiance in the face of pressure, whether it’s in the streets or the media.

YB’s latest album has been doing numbers on streaming services but it seems entirely possible that it could be able to end Drake’s three-week reign atop the Billboard 200 with Certified Lover Boy. If that’s the case, then NBA Youngboy could join the ranks of 2Pac and Lil Wayne as one of three artists to top the charts from behind bars.

Quotable Lyrics
Over seven times, never seen my shooter, real gravedigger, contract business
Better tell ’em I’ll zip them n***as, hanging out that Escalade with that Ruger
Talking to my mama ’bout what they claimin’, while she saying, “Fuck ’em, tell a bitch prove it”
Don dada, boss man, they don’t wanna do it
