Lute & Cozz Rep Dreamville On “Eye To Eye”

Lute’s Dreamville debut album Gold Mouf has officially arrived in full thirteen-song glory, so be sure to check that project out right here.

Featuring a thorough examination into the psyche of a longtime Dreamville representer, Lute’s latest is lined with capable lyricism and smooth production. That combination is in full swing on “Eye To Eye,” a duet with his fellow labelmate Cozz — an artist who happens to be due for a new album of his own.

The pair proceed to hold it down over an instrumental by The Nukez, with Lute setting a reflective tone in the opening verse. “Now I wonder who really got my back, n***s don’t even check to see where I’m at,” he admits, speaking frankly. “I really hate this rap shit sometimes / ‘Cause true friends are really hard to find.” Cozz follows his lead, taking a thorough self-examination on the man he’s aiming to be. ” I’m tryna be more than I was, more of a guy good, more of them good vibes,” he raps. “Gotta be much more than just a hood guy.”

Check out “Eye To Eye” now, and be sure to show Lute some support by checking out Gold Mouf in its entirety.

Troy Ave Takes On Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy” For New KeyMix

There’s no doubt that Drake can produce a hit but many seemed a bit confused that he chose “Way 2 Sexy” as the lead single for Certified Lover Boy. The sample and equally goofy music video helped propel the single to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 upon its debut. Sure, some fans have pushed back against it but it’s certainly growing on most people weeks after the album’s release.

We’ve heard a few freestyles over the song recently, as expected with any chart-topping Drake hit. Cordae offered a hot 16 during an appearance on Adin Ross’ live stream while Troy Ave came through with his own rendition of the track for his latest KeyMix. Troy delivers his own verse on the track which arrived at the same time as his remix of “Essence.”

ShooterGang Kony Keeps Applying Pressure With “Hall Of Fame”

Is ShooterGang Kony ready to drop again? The Sacramento rapper has been carving his own lane on the West Coast in the past few years. 2020, specifically, was a fruitful year of releases including the release of Red Paint Reverend, Still Kony 2 and F12. Needless to say, he’s been keeping busy. In the past few weeks alone, he’s unveiled his project, Starshooter, and appeared on G-Eazy’s latest project.

Today, the rapper returned with a brand new banger titled, “Hall Of Fame.” In his first single since Starshooter, the rapper takes on gritty synths and heavy bass with tenacity. He reflects on the lingering paranoia of the streets, even as his rap career continues on an upward trajectory, while also detailing his aspirations to run up the bag.

Troy Ave Takes On WizKid & Tems’ “Essence” For New KeyMix

A pandemic couldn’t stop Troy Ave from delivering new music for the fans. In fact, it probably gave him the best opportunity possible to keep his fanbase satisfied with brand new tracks. Though the rapper closed off 2020 with the release of the eighth installment in the White Christmas series, he quickly followed up with the release of Kill or Be Killed earlier this year.

Now, the rapper has returned with a brand new KeyMix over the song of the summer, WizKid and Tems’ “Essence.” The vibrant afrobeats production serves as the backdrop for Troy’s getting into his lover boy bag.

WizKid and Tems’ collaboration officially hit platinum status this week. It’s also produced remixes from DaBaby, and Ghostface Killah and Raekwon.

John Sparkz Links With Jim Jones & Action Bronson On “Uncle Junior”

If the release of The Many Saints Of Newark wasn’t an indication that Sopranos season is upon us, mixing engineer slash creator John Sparkz has come through to double down with a reminder. Linking with Action Bronson and Jim Jones for the Harry Fraud-produced “Uncle Junior,” Sparkz and his chosen consiglieres spit laid-back bars over a groovy instrumental evocative of decades come-and-gone.

“You ain’t my caliber, I’ll snatch your body out the challenger, you’ll be sleep for seven circles of the calendar,” raps Action, his unique lyricism brimming with character. On the other hand is the straight man Jones, the Sil to Bronson’s Paulie, though both parties are not to be trifled with. “We was young, we was dumb trying to get a dollar,” reflects Jimmy. “See police we would run, they trying to get a caller.”

G Herbo Spits Bars On “Street Shit Freestyle”

When G Herbo steps to the mic, you already know what’s coming — unflinching reflections and hard-hitting street bars. It’s part of what makes him such an electrifying presence on the Chicago scene and beyond. Now, Herbo has come through to keep his blade sharp on “Street Shit,” a From The Block performance that finds him letting fly a freestyle over an aggressive instrumental.

“Lost lil bro ain’t been myself, grab that 40 off the shelf,” he raps, his cadence gravelly. “Ain’t had therapy to help, been off liquor for my health / play the cards that I been dealt.” While it’s lacking the typical song structure, fans will appreciate the extended barrage of bars Herbo delivers here, a promising sign for his future music to come. Check out “Street Shit,” a From The Block performance, now and sound off below.

Eminem Surprises Fans With “Venom (Remix)” Release

As fans continue to metabolize his “Last One Standing” collaboration with Skylar Grey, Polo G, and Mozzy, Eminem is back. The track is included on the soundtrack to Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, and it is Em’s second appearance in the franchise. In 2018, his Kamikaze single “Venom” was used for the first installment of the film, and it doesn’t look like the Detroit icon is quite finished with the hit single.

In the wee hours of Tuesday (October 5) morning, Eminem shared the remix to “Venom” and it was a surprise that fans welcomed with open arms. Producer D.A. Got That Dope (often stylized in lowercase letters) received a shoutout from Em on Instagram with the announcement of this updated version of his viral track.

“Like we used to do- on the B side goes the REMIX. Shout to @dagotthatdope #Venom #SideB #LastOneStanding,” he wrote on his Instagram. People are excited to hear this track get new life breathed into it, so stream “Venom (Remix)” and share your thoughts.

Proof’s room slept on the floor of ‘da motel then

And I got his stamp like a postcard, word to Mel-Man
And I know they’re gonna hate
But I don’t care, I barely can wait
To hit ’em with the snare and the bass

YN Jay Enlists Lil Uzi Vert For “Coochie Scout Pt. 2”

Coochie is always on YN Jay’s mind, as he’s expressed throughout his entire catalog. In fact, it was on 2020’s Coochie Land that he declared himself to be the “Coochie Scout” on one of the album’s highlights. This week, he returned with part 2 of the single with some help from none other than Lil Uzi Vert. The two rappers bond over their shared enthusiasm for coochie. “Bitch, you gotta let Uzi fuck you, that’s my coochie friend,” YN Jay declares on the record. Uzi matches YN Jay’s eccentricity over the track for an equally hilarious yet hard anthem.

The song has been highly anticipated ever since Lil Uzi Vert took to IG Live where he previewed a snippet of the record.

Lute Links With J.I.D & Saba For “Birdsong”

Dreamville fans are likely familiar with Lute, one of the label’s longtime veterans and a respected lyricist in his own right. Today, the rapper has officially taken a major step with the release of his debut album Gold Mouf, which finds him linking up with a few of his labelmates — including J.I.D, with whom he connected on standout “Birdsong.”

With Saba on board as well, the track finds all three parties sliding effortlessly over an avian-themed instrumental — a rare sort of hip-hop subgenre as popularized by DJ Premier’s “Nas is Like” beat. It’s the type of track that one throws on and vibes to, with each performer flexing strong lyricism and slick flows. If you appreciate what Lute, Saba, and J.I.D brought to the table on this one, be sure to check out Gold Mouf in its entirety and show the Dreamville OG some love in the comments below.
