Lil Wayne Goes Into The Archives For New Track “Ya Dig”

When Lil Wayne dropped Tha Carter III back in 2008 we saw arguably the best example of a rapper at the peak of his powers. Everything Wayne touched turned to gold and with songs like “A Milli,” “Lollipop” and “Got Money” dominating across so many different groups of people, it was like the whole world was watching Weezy F. Baby do exactly what he was supposed to do.

In the years since, the Young Money leader has undergone a series of transformations, going from rap Wayne to rock Wayne to pop Wayne to skate Wayne, but his name still carries a certain weight and when he drops new music, people listen.

And when people listen to this new record “Ya Dig,” they’ll be reminded of exactly why they feel in love with Lil Wayne’s music to begin with.

“Ya Dig” is a track pulled straight from the late 2000s. (According to LilWayneHQ, the record was recorded in late 2007 or early 2008.) From the uplifting instrumental to Wayne’s flow, a seeming carbon copy of the Jay-Z assisted “Mr. Carter,” it feels like “Ya Dig” would fit perfectly on Tha Carter III and will be sure to turn back the clocks for Weezy fans. Wayne is relentless, rapping for almost three minutes straight and over a sped-up soul sample, his bars cut through and every reference feels as poignant as ever.

Flyer than first-class and detention
Uh, been a winner since a beginner
And my records show, not even in the Guinness

Jackboy Joins Drill Producer AxL On “Motorbike”

The sounds of drill have proliferated from its origins in Chicago to pockets of Europe. It was the UK that, outside of the U.S., helped popularize the sound and it was largely due to the efforts of AxL. His work alongside artists like Pop Smoke and Fivio Foreign ushered in a new era of drill for Brooklyn.

AxL is now making a splash as the lead artist with the release of his debut single. The producer linked up with JackBoy for their new record, “Motorbike.” AxL brings it down a notch on this record to fit Jackboy’s more romantic side while the signature drums are still felt heavily.

The release of “Motorbike” is a sign of big things to come for AxL. Check his new single below.

Luh Soldier Takes On Future & Gunna’s “Too Easy”

Two rappers that we’re waiting on to drop a project right now are Gunna and Future. Though Future hasn’t really offered any signs that he’s dropping new music soon, he has been heavy on his feature spree, as usual. Meanwhile, Gunna teased Drip Season 4 which was seemingly led by his new single, “Too Easy.”

Luh Soldier slid through this week with his own take on the Future and Gunna collab. Shared to his YouTube page, the rapper delivers quick-wits and rides the beat effortlessly as he details disloyalty and mistrust.

Luh Soldier is coming off of the release of a recent spree of collaborative tracks with Zaytoven including the Big 30-assisted, “My Block” and “Myself.”

Check out his remix to Gunna and Future “Too Easy” below.

Quotable Lyrics
You can’t play the jet with me ’cause I am not your boy
N***as slime, I see in the skies, this stick is not a toy
Rich n***a, still I fuck a hood bitch, yeah yeah
Why the fuck I’m lying to you? I’m hood rich, yeah yeah

Grafh, Sheek Louch, & Ransom Bless DJ Shay’s Production On “Valid”

Anyone suggesting that hip-hop is dead must have stopped looking in the proper places. Longtime bar-spitter Grafh has recently linked up with Benny The Butcher (in a curatorial role) for the upcoming album Stop Calling Art Content, produced in its entirety by the late DJ Shay. Today, a new single from the project has laded, this time bringing Sheek Louch and Ransom into the fold for some cold lyricism on “Valid.”

Over an eerie sample-based beat, all three parties hold it down as expected. Based on the lineup alone, you already know that there’s about to be a relentless barrage of hard-hitting lines and gritty flow schemes — not to mention a healthy dose of friendly competition. The sinister track certainly bodes well for the project at large, which is due for a release on October 15th.

Will you be tuning in to Grafh’s Stop Calling Art Content? Guest appearances include Benny The Butcher, Bun B, CyHi The Prynce, Styles P, Sheek Louch, Ransom, Rick Hyde, Heem, ElCamino, and 3D Na’Tee.

Yeah it’s love, but I’m not emotional
I understand you’re only a fan, but I’m not approachable
The cocaine and the food in the same pantry
Keep the brown and white in the same room like Drake’s family

Beanz Announces New Album With “Pink Drink” Single

Beanz has kept it moving since her appearance on Netflix’s Rhythm And Flow, where she won hearts and minds through her sharp lyricism and golden era sensibilities. Now, the rapper has confirmed that her upcoming album Tables Turn will be dropping on November 5th, delivering her new single “Pink Drink” to set a tone for what’s to come.

Though the song feels all too brief at a mere two minutes, Beanz makes the most of the runtime by prioritizing her lyrics front and center. Over a smooth instrumental by  DJ Hoppa, Beanz declares that she’s “sweeter than a pink drink from Starbucks” as she flexes over her competition. Insofar as the flow and bars are concerned, there’s certainly credibility to her boasts; check out “Pink Drink” for yourself and see what the hype is all about.

Quotable Lyrics

I’m smooth with the moves now I’m moonwalkin’

Lil Yachty Flips Tame Impala’s “Breathe Deeper”

Lil Yachty may be rapping on the majority of his recent releases, but the Quality Control rapper is no stranger to a more melodic vibe. Lest we forget his debut album Teenage Emotions, which found him exploring territory seldom touched by hip-hop artists. Today, Yachty took a moment to revisit that very same vibe, teaming up with Tame Impala to deliver a remix of “Breathe Deeper.”

While some remixes can feel relatively low-effort, this latest features a hefty contribution from Yachty, who takes to Impala’s live instrumentation with several verses. Enjoyment will likely derive from one’s appreciation for both parties, but should you count yourself a fan of Lil Boat and Tame Impala, this may very well be the pleasant surprise you’re looking for.

Check it out for yourself now, and sound off if you think this is a good direction for Yachty.

Pouya & Denzel Curry Connect For “Wig Split”

Pouya is getting ready to deliver his upcoming album Blood Was Never Thick As Water, and today the Florida rapper has connected with Denzel Curry for the blistering new single “Wig Split.” In keeping with hometown tradition, the track features an instrumental fueled by bouncy percussion and urgent synthesizers; it also happens to be dangerously short, clocking in at a little over two minutes.

Despite the blink-and-you-missed-it brevity, both Denzel and Pouya still make their presence felt. Alas, Pouya’s opening verse concludes the moment he slides into a new flow, though he does return for a few more lines shortly thereafter. Denzel is tasked with closing “Wig Split” out, and though he’s only delivering a few bars, his clever wordplay and explosive delivery provide a welcome jolt of energy.

Check out Pouya and Denzel’s “Wig Split” now, and look for Blood Was Never Thick As Water to land soon.

Masego Links With J.I.D & Big Boi For “Garden Party”

Shortly after seeing his “Navajo” song received a jolt of electricity by way of a Drake Certified Lover Boy sample, Masego has come through to capitalize on the momentum with a new single. This time, he’s launching a “Garden Party” with two top-tier Atlanta rappers — Big Boi and J.I.D — a smooth drop produced by Iman Omari and Jack Dine.

After Masego paints a picture of the titular party, bringing the shindig to life with pristine clarity, J.I.D slides in with a reminder of why he’s so highly regarded as a new-school hero. “Been high as heaven, drunk as hell, but don’t fly right,” raps J.I.D, locked in and floating. “Seeing tie-dye colors and side-eye cover with shades from the sideline.” Closing things out is the legendary Big Boi, who delivers some after-dark bars. “And I would love to listen to you breathe in my ear, as we make sweet love under the trees,” he raps, making full use of the “Garden” setting.

A hypnotic and unique collaboration between three talents, “Garden Party” is an invitation well worth hitting “RSVP” on.

Quotable Lyrics

Been high as heaven, drunk as hell, but don’t fly right
Seeing tie-dye colors and side-eye cover with shades from the sideline
Say goodbye, in my shaky life I try to stabilize, crazy times
I gotta pray to God but he don’t say nothing

C BIz Connects With Giggs For “Long Time Coming”

If you’ve been looking for some raw UK rap, two pioneering figures have connected for a banger. C Biz and Giggs teamed up this week for a brand new banger titled, “Long Time Coming. With triumphant production backing them, C Biz kicks the record off with a direct flow with braggadocious bars reflecting on how far he’s come. “I made it out the trenches where n***as was selling dreams,” he raps. Giggs slow-burning delivery drops quick-witted punchlines with ferocity in his tone.

A music video for the song accompanied its release over the weekend. The video sees C Biz and Giggs surrounded by the homies while delivering their verses outside of an apartment building.
