Kevin Gates Is Still The General On “Major League”

Just as Kevin Gates kicked off The Big Lyfe tour, he’s offering some promising updates surrounding the forthcoming deluxe edition of Khaza. He released that he’d be dropping off the extended version of his latest album this year, though he hasn’t cemented a date. However, the slew of bangers he’s released in the meanwhile have indicated that he has even more heat in the stash that he’s sitting on.

This week, the rapper came through with pure Luca Brasi energy for his single “Major League.” The brash production on the record brings an aggressive form of Gates out as he details the stripes he’s earned in the streets.

Hopefully, Khaza (Deluxe) arrives in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out “Major League” below and sound off with your thoughts.

Lil Crix Calls On Kodak Black For “Spin The Block”

Lil Crix might not be a household name but he’s working his way up to it. The budding rapper came through this week with his new collaboration alongside Kodak Black titled, “Spin The Block.” Crix’s deadpan delivery and his staccato hums create an effortless earworm of a hook as he details his time in the streets. Meanwhile, Kodak Black’s assistance on the record helps elevates the record even further and his stamp of approval certainly put more eyes on the budding star.

Yak’s released a ton of music over the past few days but not all of it dropped intentionally. After suffering from leaks, he blessed fans with his Closure EP over the weekend, which he admitted wasn’t supposed to drop. Either way, Yak fans have been eating for the past few days.

The work pressed up now but they don’t even mind

Doe Boy Pays Homage To Biggie On “What’s Beef”

It’s been a huge year for Doe Boy. After amassing a huge following through mixtapes and singles, he came through with his official debut album at the top of the year, OH REALLY. Little did we know that this was just the beginning of a bigger roll out across the remainder of 2022. Last month, he shared his latest project, Catch Me If You Can. However, it doesn’t look like that’s the end of his release schedule for the summer.

In his mission to flood the streets with new music, Doe Boy came through with a haunting banger this morning titled, “What’s Beef.” On his new single, he takes inspiration from Biggie’s song of the same name over Hit Kidd’s ominous production as he takes aim at his opponents.

Jackboy Calls Kodak Black A “Federal Agent” Over Jay-Z & Eminem’s “Renegade”

Jackboy’s remained a pivotal force in Florida’s dominant rap scene. Though the rapper was attached to Sniper Gang, he parted ways from Kodak Black’s label to establish his own empire. Unfortunately, the falling out between the two friends continues to play out publicly. The latest update on the saga comes in the form of Jackboy’s latest release, “Renegade Freestyle (Closure).” In the song, Jackboy takes on Jay-Z and Eminem’s iconic collaboration and directly reflects on their issues. Jackboy accuses Yak of wanting to hold back his artists, if they become bigger than him, while calling him a “federal agent” for his Trump ties. A large portion of the subs towards Yak comes in the second verse.

Quotable Lyrics
You been a bitch, you tried to pull stunts on Wham and Wiz
You the only n***a I know that get mad when they artist lit
You the only n***a fakin’, acting like you ’bout to spin
Your ass a federal agent, protected by the president
Real Zoe, ain’t got no friends in the government
So if I fuck with you, they gon’ deport me and all my kin

Nav Shares New Self-Produced Single “Wrong Decisions”

Nav continues to build the hype around his next body of work, Demons Protected BY Angels. It began with the release of “Never Sleep” ft. Lil Baby and Travis Scott. However, Nav offered fans a new single today that more accurately reveals what he has in store on his next album. “Wrong Decisions” is a melancholic self-produced single that feels like a return to form for Nav. The rapper lays down his doubts and anxieties over somber production for an auto-tuned-fueled banger.

“I guess the journey started during quarantine and covid. I just took my time. This is probably one of the first songs I made during quarantine. I just took my time during quarantine… honing in on my production and skills and and here it is,” Nav told Zane Lowe.

Soulja Boy Shares His Latest Single “Life Is Amazing”

Say what you will about Soulja Boy but he’s never been one to shy away from experimenting with his sound. He’s frequently adapted and evolved with the times which is why he remains a cultural figure today. Mind you, his music might not be popping off the way it once did but Soulja Boy can produce a hit. That you can not deny.

The rapper continues to flood the streets with new music on a regular basis. Over the weekend, he turned heads with the release of his new single, “Life Is Amazing.” As SB basks in the successes in his life, he takes on a more R&B approach on the record and dabbles deeper into the melodies on this one.

Aesop Rock & Homeboy Sandman Team Up As LICE On “Catfish”

Aesop Rock and Homeboy Sandman are back at it again this summer. Just weeks after releasing the deluxe edition of Homeboy Sandman’s Angelitu EP with two Aesop Rock-produced cuts, the two came through with the return of LICE.

Last week, Rock and Homeboy Sandman shared their first new single as LICE in nearly five years with “Catfish.” The two underground legends sharpen their swords as they tackle experimental, left-field production with their own interpretations of catfish.

The collaborative efforts from the two rappers began in 2015 when they unveiled their first EP as a free download. They later followed up with two EPS in 2016 and 2017 but it’s been rather quiet for their side-project since.

This Wednesday, Rhymesayers Entertainment will unveil The Lice EP on streaming services followed by 2016’s Lice Two: Still Buggin on Aug. 31st and Triple Lice on September 7th.

Pitched a few snowballs, skipped a slew of rolls calls
Dipped into the sewer, grew his hair out like a Troll Doll

Down to the river, took a knee with my hands cupped

Pressa Taps Into A New Zone On “Blame Me”

Pressa is emerging as the leader of a new generation of artists in Toronto. Though we’ve witnessed plenty of rappers bubble in America, Pressa’s remained a fixture in the clubs as he’s been in the blogs. The rapper is fresh off of the release of the deluxe edition of 2020’s Gardner Express but it appears that he’s keeping the momentum high with even more new music. Just weeks after he teamed up with Eva Shaw and Thouxanbanfauni on “EASTERISLAND, he’s come through with his latest solo offering, “Blame Me.” On the new single, Pressa expands his sonic palette with softer flows and catchier melodies. Press reflects on his come-up in the game, and the sacrifices he’s made to get to where he’s at today.

22Gz Locks In With SPMB Bills On “Why Would I Lack?”

Despite his legal troubles, 22Gz hasn’t lost his grip on the game. The Brooklyn drill artist and Sniper Gang affiliate has kept his momentum high after the release of 2021’s The Blixky Tape 2 with a slew of new releases. He dropped off the deluxe version of the project earlier this year and later linked up with Kodak Black for their joint effort, “Up N Stuck.”

Over the weekend, 22Gz served up even more heat with his latest collaboration with SPMB Bills. The two rappers joined forces for their new collab, “Why Would I Lack?” It’s a hard-hitting drill anthem filled with aggressive energy produced by Yozora. 22Gz and Bills come through swinging off of the rip with menacing bars and eerie production.

Danny Brown Unveils New Self-Produced Single “Winter”

It’s been roughly three years since the release of Danny Brown’s Uknowhatimsayin? The Detroit rapper’s offering was followed up with a spree of releases from the Bruiser Brigade label before he launched his own podcast, The Danny Brown Show on YMH Studios. Last week, the rapper debuted a new single on Your Mom’s House Live, titled “Winter.”

After fans flooded his mentions with demands for its release, Danny gave the people what they wanted on Sunday with a new Soundcloud drop. The record is produced by Danny Brown himself, bridging together his zany flows with hazy flute-laden production. Danny’s in his pocket, both lyrically and beat-wise. Hopefully, it’s a sign that we can be hearing Danny become more hands-on with the production side on his upcoming effort, Quaranta.

Check out Danny Brown’s new record “Winter” and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.
