Nike Air Humara Returns In OG Colorway

Initially hitting the shelves in 1997, the Nike Air Humara has continued to remain a pertinent staple dad shoe. For decades following its debut after a brief hiatus, the Air Humara is set to make yet another iconic return later this month. Several collaborations were released featuring the Air Humara prior to the announcement of this newest sneaker release.

Supreme released a Supreme X Air Humara collab back in 2017. The collab offered four different colorways including black, pink, blue, and green. Last December, Nike and French label Jacquemus collaborated on an Air Humara. Made out of sustainable materials, the sneaker debuted in two colorways including Light Bone and Gold and Pink Flash/Pink Prime/Gold. This original colorway of the Air Humara is from 1996. Now classic colorway is back in a modern light.

A navy blue and silver hue is across the overall presentation of the shoe. The hues are seen decorating the smooth leather overlays as well as the midsoles. The latter is complemented by solid black checkered pattern designs. Navy blue mesh makes up the tongues, toe boxes, heels, and quarter panels. Additionally, notes of bronze are sprinkled across the Swooshes on the lateral and medial panels. The bronze hue is dripped on the “Air” lettering on the heels and the tiny Nike checks on the oval badges.

This was one of the earliest colorways of the shoe from when it first dropped in the ’90s. Equipped with mesh basing on the upper and a midsole with Zoom cushioning, this shoe is made for comfort and stability ideal for a hike, or even a casual shopping trip. The chunky dad shape makes it perfectly easy to style with either baggy or skinny-fit pant silhouettes. A complimentary basic sweatshirt or t-shirt in either a similar Midnight Navy, Black, or Desert Bronze hue would complete the look. Sneakerheads everywhere will be able to cop this Nike Air Humara on February 28, on the SNKRS app for $160. Let us know what you think of these, down in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from the sneaker world.

George Gervin Sues Ralph Lauren For Using His Name On New Sneakers

George Gervin is undeniably a legend in the sport of basketball. Having played in both the ABA and NBA, he sits high on many all-time lists. Most importantly, he is #45 overall in scoring in NBA history. Additionally, he is #39 in field goals made having only played 10 seasons in the NBA. Known also as “Iceman,” Gervin was celebrated as an incredibly clutch player and scoring pioneer. Because of that, he is still a household name decades later.

While hooping, Gervin typically wore high-top shoes, which were widely popular for basketball in the late 1970s to late 1980s. Because of this, Polo Ralph Lauren decided to use Gervin’s name for a recent sneaker they released. The “Gervin Mid,” a shoe made of leather and suede, clearly resembles a style of shoe players in Gervin’s era would rock on the court. Last April, Gervin’s wife Joyce received a text congratulating her husband for his new shoe deal. But, this left the family confused. George was never contacted or compensated for this opportunity.

George Gervin Fights Back

On Wednesday (Feb. 15), Gervin decided to take action. His legal team filed a lawsuit against Ralph Lauren in a Manhattan federal court. The suit stated that RL used his name and likeness without his permission for the line of basketball sneakers. More specifically, Gervin’s team claims that they “released a line of retro-styles 1970’s hightop basketball sneakers called the ‘Gervin Mid’ to profit off the back of Mr. Gervin’s commercially valuable identity, without once seeking his consent or authorization to use Mr. Gervin’s name or likeness or offer to compensate him for the use of his valuable name.”

Gervin is seeking $2 million in damages for this offense. Supporting its case, the suit also points to the shoes Gervin wore during his career. “There can be no doubt, therefore, given the unique history of Mr. Gervin’s association with the high-top shoe and the Nike’s Blazer’s popularity, that Ralph Lauren was exploiting Mr. Gervin’s unique and commercially valuable identity, name, and likeness to sell its products,” it reads. In the complaint, Gervin’s team states the excuse Ralph Lauren gave them. RL claims one of their French shoe designers named the shoe without any knowledge of who Gervin was. But that is obviously hard to believe. Either way, Ralph Lauren has since changed the name of the shoe to the “Court Vulc Mid-Top.” It’s currently unclear how well Gervin or Ralph Lauren will fare in court. But, public opinion will likely lean the Iceman’s way.

Ja Morant is currently in the midst of another solid season with the Memphis Grizzlies that includes the launch of his first signature shoe, the Nike Ja 1. The Grizzlies are a team with a lot of untapped potential as far as sneaker colorways are concerned. Ja is the first superstar in franchise history to get his own shoe. Consequently, Nike is interested in truly honoring the history of the Memphis Grizzlies. As many of you know, this franchise actually started out in Vancouver. With the new colorway which can be found below, those Vancouver roots are shining bright.

This brand-new color scheme is simply called “Scratch.” As for the actual colors, fans are being given a shoe that resembles those vintage Vancouver Grizzlies uniforms. The retro uniforms that the Grizzlies have worn over the years are immensely popular. That said, it only makes sense that Nike would want to come through with a shoe that pays homage to them. Firstly, the sneaker is covered in team materials. Moreover, there are scratch marks throughout the upper, the Nike swoosh, and the midsole. Lastly, the shoe also has some red and bronze built in which helps bring the entire Vancouver aesthetic together.

Unfortunately for fans who want to cop these, the release date is still unknown. However, they should be dropping quite soon for a price of $110 USD. If you are a historian of the franchise, then these are probably going to be exciting prospects for you. Either way, there are plenty more Nike Ja 1 color schemes on the horizon. Stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the sneaker world. Additionally, let us know what you think of these, down in the comments below.
