Deion Sanders Mocks Former Player Who Transferred Out Of Colorado

Deion Sanders is under a lot of fire this offseason. The Colorado head coach is experiencing a mass exodus of players leaving his program. The Buffaloes acquired six players this off-season through the transfer portal this spring, but twenty-three of Deion Sanders’ 2023 additions have left the program. Now Sanders is firing shots at transfers. He has now mocked a former Buffalo on Twitter. Sanders is constantly defending himself on social media, so it’s no surprise he has taken a shot at a former player.

Sanders has run off most of the Colorado roster that had scholarships upon his arrival. The upheaval of the roster was dramatic, and Deion was seen as alienating and dismissive of his players. This spring, he lost starters like left tackle Savion Washington and important players like wide receiver Tar’Varish Dawson. Sanders’ 2023 class included standout recruits, including cornerback Cormani McClain and running back Dylan Edwards. Deion took shots at Jaheim Ward, who transferred from Colorado to Austin Peay, on Twitter.

Deion Sanders Mocks Jaheim Ward

While many athletes and fans have a connection with Deion Sanders’ approach at Colorado, it is undeniably not for everybody. Xavier Smith, a former Colorado safety, has criticized the coach’s style. When Sanders was moving players about on his first Buffaloes squad, Smith was “cut” by Colorado, but he recently told The Athletic that Sanders handled the matter poorly. Smith said of Sanders, “He was destroying guys’ confidence and belief in themselves. The way he did it, it could’ve been done with a little more compassion.”

Sanders’ son Sheduer responded to the quotes on Twitter, saying, “Ion even remember him tbh.” Sanders also tweeted. “Bro had to be very mid at best.” Now, Deion Sanders has mocked Jaheim Ward player’s quote, tweeting his stats at Austin Peay. Deion and Shedeur are defending their program. Overall, they need to respond after a disappointing season. Jaheim Ward is defending himself, firing back, saying he had more past deflections than Coach Prime’s son.

Deion Sanders Already Knows Where He Wants Shedeur Sanders To Play: “Certain Cities Where It Ain’t Gonna Happen”

Deion Sanders says that his son, Shedeur Sanders, and teammate Travis Hunter, will only play for certain teams in the NFL. Appearing on the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast, the Colorado head coach discussed his plans for each of his star players’ future NFL careers. For Shedeur and Hunter, he expects: “Top-4,” in the draft and hinted at a scenario similar to Eli Manning.

He explained: “Anywhere from 1-4, one of them is gonna be 1. One of them is gonna be 1, and the latter one would not go behind 4. Now, all this is subjective because I know where I want, kind of want them to go — and let’s not forget Shilo (Sanders). But I know where I want them to go. So, there’s certain cities where it ain’t gonna happen. It’s gonna be an Eli.”

Shedeur led the Buffaloes with 3,230 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and just three interceptions, last year, catapulting him into NFL draft discussions. He’ll be eligible for the league in 2025. Hunter made headlines for his abilities on both sides of the football. As both a receiver and defensive back, he recorded 23 tackles and three interceptions while also notching 721 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Shedeur Sanders’ Rolls-Royce Booted By Colorado Campus Police

The Rolls-Royce of Colorado Buffaloes starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders was booted by campus police this week. A now-deleted video of the car was posted to social media by a member of the Sports Information department, showing the boot on the expensive car. It’s unclear how much Sanders was fined for the parking violation by the campus police. But it’s quickly becoming a growing problem for the team.

As mentioned, Shedeur is just the latest member of the football team to feel the wrath of campus parking enforcement. Back in September, Shedeur’s father, head coach Deion Sanders, saw his Lamborghini clamped. Meanwhile, defensive back Cam’Ron Silmon Craig posted proof of a $3000 fine given for 52 parking violations. “It seems to be an ongoing problem on campus that needs to be fixed. We’ve had cars getting towed for parking near Folsom Field,” one player told journalist Josh Tolle.

Colorado Eyeing Tough End To The Season

If parking issues were bad enough, the Buffs must find a way to end the season on a high note. The Buffs dropped their third consecutive game last weekend, falling below .500 for the first time this season. It came as a late rally against Oregon State fell short and the Buffs were knocked off 26-19. It’s now been a full month since Colorado’s last win, a 27-24 victory over Arizona State. Furthermore, the bowl window is closing bit by bit. Colorado, who are 4-5, need two wins from their last three games to be bowl-eligible.

Unfortunately for the Buffs, they have a rough schedule to close out the Pac-12 season. Up next is #21 Arizona, who are coming off three consecutive victories against ranked opponents. Then there is Washington State, who are 4-5 after a white-hot start to the season. Finally, they end the season against #18 Utah, who are 7-2. While Sanders has said the team isn’t thinking about bowl season, it would be an incredibly disappointing end to a season that started off so well. The Wildcats are 10.5 favorites against the Buffs this weekend.

Shedeur And Shilo Sanders Not Declaring For 2024 NFL Draft, Father Deion Claims

Deion Sanders has announced that neither of his sons will be declaring for the 2024 NFL draft despite being eligible. “They’re gonna come out the same year, next year. They’re not trying to leave daddy this year, by the way,” Sanders told The Dan Patrick Show this week. Shedeur, Colorado’s starting quarterback is a junior whose ability to thrive in the Pac-12 has seen his draft cap skyrocket. Many people see him as a first-round QB4 in 2024. Meanwhile, Shilo is seen as a mid-round safety who can play the 2024 college season due to the COVID waiver.

While both prospects are intriguing in their own ways, it’s clear that Deion wants more year of them at Colorado. If they don’t defy their father and jump to the NFL, that means they will play a season in the Big 12 when Colorado changes conferences next year. Furthermore, that will mark Shedeur’s third conference and Shilo’s fourth. Next year’s conference schedule sees Colorado play Arizona, Texas Tech, Kansas, UCF, Utah, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and Cincinnati.

Sanders & Colorado Continue To Struggle

However, all is not well in Boulder, Colorado. Colorado dropped their third consecutive game, falling below .500 for the first time this season. Travis Hunter And Shedeur Sanders Freak Out As LeBron James Comes Over To Speak With Them

LeBron James left college stars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter as he went out of his way to talk with them at the Lakers’ NBA opener. Hunter and Sanders were there alongside their head coach Deion Sanders in Denver for Nuggets-Lakers. After the game, LeBron sought out the two players and told them how much he loved their game. Hunter was seen screaming and holding onto his quarterback’s shirt after LeBron moved on. Meanwhile, Sanders asked if he could have LeBron’s jersey.

Sanders and Hunter are two of the biggest pieces in Coach Prime’s complex Colorado jigsaw. Sanders is 4th in yards (2420), 3rd in touchdowns (21), and 9th in completion percentage (72.3%). He has often been the line between victory and defeat as the Buffaloes continue to move further and further away from their 1-11 2022 campaign. Meanwhile, Hunter is the first true two-way star in years and despite only being a freshman, is already catching the eye of many NFL scouts.

Deion Sanders Approves Of SNL Impression

However, an appearance at NBA opening night isn’t the only reason that the Sanders family is in the news. Deion Sanders recently gave his verdict on a recent impression Kenan Thompson did of him on SNL. “I’m a fan of Kenan, let’s get that straight. I love what he’s brought to comedy. I had the pleasure and honor to host Saturday Night Live before and I’ll never forget those moments,” Sanders said of the skit at his press availability this week. Thompson brought Coach Prime to life in a Weekend Update segment that poked fun at Sanders’ larger-than-life personality. As for Sanders’ SNL hosting gig, that came in February 1995, a couple weeks after he won Super Bowl 30 with the Niners.

Sanders and the Buffs are back in action this weekend following their bye week. The 4-3 Buffs take on #23 5-2 UCLA, who have traded wins and losses for their last four games. The Bruins enter coming off a big 42-7 win over Stanford, a team that stunned Colorado two weeks ago. With five games and three ranked opponents left, every game is a must-win for Colorado if they want to stand a chance of playing in bowl season this year.

Deion Sanders Agrees With Stephen A. Smith About Moving On From Stanford Loss

Deion Sanders gave props to ESPN host Stephen A. Smith as he posted some behind-the-scenes content from Colorado’s training facility. “He’s right. Now let’s move on,” Sanders told his players after showing them a clip of Smith going in for the team for their embarrassing loss to Stanford last weekend. He also went in hard on his son, starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Smith had called out the younger Sanders explicitly for an ill-time merch promo that dropped at halftime with the Buffs up 29-0. The team would go on to lose 46-43 in overtime.

“Show up, stand up because your daddy, and to the players on that squad, your coach. As much bravado as he had. As much swag as he had. He was the best on the planet week in and week out. You knew Prime Time, Deion Sanders, was the best probably ever. Y’all aren’t on that level. Stop acting like it and show up on the damn field and do what the hell you are supposed to do instead of getting your ass kicked on national television. Somebody gotta say it,” Smith said of the college senior during First Take this past Monday.

Sanders & Colorado Face Brutal Road To Season’s End

Sitting at 4-3, Colorado will need to bounce back in a serious way to secure bowl eligibility. However, that is easier said than done given how the rest of their season looks. three of their five remaining opponents are currently ranked, with a fourth having spent multiple weeks ranked this season. Meanwhile, their only unranked opponent, Arizona, recently pushed USC to triple overtime. It is by no means an easy feat for Colorado to reach 6-6, let alone a winning record.

Despite this, they will have a week to recover. Next weekend is Colorado’s bye, where they will look to shore up a defense that ranks 7th worst in the country in terms of points allowed. After that, the first game of their season-ending gauntlet is a road game against #25 UCLA. Colorado will have two more home games this season (#12 Oregon State, Arizona). However, they will finish the season with back-to-back road games (Washington State, #14 Utah).

Deion Sanders Wants The Falcons To Draft Both His Sons

Deion Sanders has strongly suggested that the Atlanta Falcons should draft his sons Shedeur and Shilo. Sanders made the suggestion while Falcons scout Rich Sanders was visiting Colorado this week. “We ain’t coming back unless we bringing the Sanders boys to The A,” the scout was seen saying at Deion’s behest.

Of course, Deion spent the first five years of his NFL career as an electrifying presence for the Falcons (and Braves). Shedeur has been widely considered QB4 in the 2024 draft class after a white-hot start to his Colorado career. He has over 2000 yards through six games for the Buffs. Meanwhile, it’s hard to say where Shilo, a safety, will fall in the draft. He has 36 tackles and an 80-yard pick-six on the season so far. Meanwhile, Atlanta’s current QB is Desmond Ridder, who is in his first year as a full-time starter. He has 1073 yards and four touchdowns through five games. The Falcons are 3-2 so far this season.

Colorado Eye Bounce Back Win

While Sanders clearly has one eye on the draft, the other is firmly fixed on getting the Buffs back on track. Colorado may have gotten the win last weekend, but it wasn’t clean and it didn’t leave Sanders in the best mood. “Wonderful win, but we played like hot garbage and I’m trying to figure it out. I’m sick of this. We’re better than this,” Sanders said following the 27-24 win. He also alluded to the team’s reliance on his son, starting quarterback Shedeur, bailing them out of bad performances. “It’s like we’re waiting on him to put on his cape and do what he does. That’s what he does every week.” Arizona State had Colorado’s for most of the game. However, a 43-yard pass in the final minutes allowed the Buffs to kick the game-winning field goal

Next up on the docket is 1-4 Stanford. It’s been a terrible year for the Cardinal, with their sole win coming against Hawai’i in Week 1. Their subsequent four-game losing streak included a 30-23 loss to FCS side Sacramento State. It’s the perfect game for Colorado to reset ahead of a tough second half of the season. Colorado’s final five games of the season feature four ranked opponents (UCLA, Oregon State, Washington State, and Utah). It also features a game against Arizona, who pushed USC to triple overtime last weekend.

Shedeur Sanders Accused Of Taking Sacks To Preserve Stats

An anonymous Pac-12 assistant has accused Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders of taking sacks intentionally to preserve his passing stats. “I think they want to rack up some stats for Shedeur. He really holds on to the ball a long time. I think he takes sacks because he doesn’t want to affect his completion percentage,” the coach told The Athletic this week. Through five games, Sanders has been sacked 25 times for 221 lost yards. Furthermore, Sanders has -43 rushing yards on the season. “He’s playing a little different than he did earlier in the season. Before he showed that, he was willing to step up and escape through the B-gaps. Now, he’s retreating more,” the coach continued.

Sanders has been one of the best passers in college football this season. He is currently second in total yards with 1781 yards and the second-best completion percentage of QBs with more than 200 passing attempts. Sanders has attempted at least 33 passes in all five of his starts at Colorado. Furthermore, he has attempted at least 40 in four of those five games. However, Sanders took 10 sacks in his first two Pac-12 games, including seven against Oregon. Colorado has not responded to the allegations at the time of writing.

Deion Sanders Misses Radio Show

Meanwhile, Deion Sanders briefly sparked concern among Colorado fans after he missed his weekly radio show on Thursday. Assistant coach Mark Johnson, who also represented Colorado at the Pac-12 Media Day, filled in for Sanders. “We are going without Coach Prime here today. We received notification a little while ago that (he) was a little under the weather and had a bad reaction to his immune IVs, is what I was told.” A school spokesperson later today The Denver Post that Sanders was going to be fine. However, they declined to elaborate further on the incident.

It’s not the first time that Sanders has suffered from some medical issues. He underwent surgery to remove blood clots in his legs during the offseason. That forced him to miss the aforementioned Pac-12 Media Day. At this time, there is no indication that Sanders will miss Colorado’s trip to Arizona State this weekend. The Buffs are looking to bounce back from back-to-back losses with a win over the 1-4 Sun Devils.

Deion Sanders Tells His Sons They Aren’t Leaving For The NFL Next Year

Deion Sanders intends on getting another year out of his sons in Colorado. While Shilo (senior) and Shedeur (junior) are draft-eligible in 2024, Coach Dad doesn’t seem thrilled at the idea of losing the two key starters. “Shilo said, ‘Oh, wow, Shedeur, look. You gonna be in the NFL next year.’ I said, ’No he ain’t.’ …You all ain’t going nowhere,” Deion said in a video posted by Well Off Media. The comments were made while taking in the Denver Broncos’ loss to the Commanders.

The Sanders brothers have been key additions to a surging Colorado squad this year. Shedeur (QB) has 1251 yards and 10 touchdowns through three games. His respective career bests are 3732 yards and 40 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Shilo (Safety) has 19 tackles and a pick-six. Both would likely be high draft picks if they declared. Pat McAfee has already labeled Shedeur as a top-three pick. However, it appears that they will have to wait until at least 2025 before they leave for the pros. If true, that means they will play a season of Big 12 football before leaving college.

Sanders Praised By Nick Saban

While he may be keeping his kids in school, Sanders is also getting high praise from some of the best coaches in the game. Alabama’s Nick Saban spoke on Sanders during his weekly media availability. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Deion Sanders. First, he’s a great person and he’s done a great job of marketing the program to create a lot of national interest. But I see their team playing well on the field. They play with discipline, they do a good job of executing, they’ve been able to score points, playing decent on defense. So all those things, to me, are indicators that he’s a really good coach,” Saban told reporters on Wednesday.

Furthermore, Saban noted that this was an opinion he had held prior to Sanders’ arrival in Colorado. “He’s always been successful whether it was Jackson State, high school or now in Colorado. His teams have always been well coached.” Sanders began his coaching journey at his Prime Prep Academy in Texas in 2012. He also coached at Triple A Academy and Trinity Christian Community College before landing the Jackson State job in 2020. He went 27-6 with the SWAC powerhouse.
