DaBaby Affirms His Stature In Hip-Hop With Fiery “Like That” Freestyle

If there is someone who we think has had a frustrating career in hip-hop, it is DaBaby. We have seen the Cleveland, Ohio rapper flash his technical abilities. He can write, flow, all while having a commanding mic presence. However, we feel – as well as a good amount of the community feels – that it has been an inconsistent ride in terms of quality. His last couple of projects, namely, Baby On Baby 2, BETTER THAN YOU, and BLAME IT ON BABY, have come and gone. Conversely, DaBaby has shone on freestyles, especially his recent performance over “Like That.”

The Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar track has created a civil war of words in rap and it has been incredibly fun to follow. For the time being, it has brought back the competitiveness, as Drake has been the one in everyone’s line of sight lately. But what is cool about it is that it has created this ripple effect. Rappers not even involved in the beef have been feeling more ready than ever lately to prove they feel they deserve to be in the “big three” conversations. DaBaby is one of those rappers, based on his hungry performance on the diss track.

Fans also seem to be in agreeance on this freestyle showing on X, according to AllHipHop. One person writes, “No cap I’d be here for a DaBaby come back only if he rapping like THAT tho. Yall forgive worse ppl.” Another adds, “Dababy has never been a bad rapper he just made dumb a** decisions because he thought he was bigger than he actually was.”

What are your thoughts on DaBaby for his “Like That” freestyle? Who else should give their best attempt at rapping over this instrumental? Which freestyle was better, this one, or “Get It Sexyy?” We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. VIC MENSA Lays Down Two Amazing Freestyles Over Classic Beats On L.A. Leakers

Chicago rapper VIC MENSA is having an underrated 2023. It fits him, seeing as he has been an unheralded talent ever since his first tape, There’s Alot Going On. He has quite a few projects since then, but only one of them classifies as an album. That was his debut in 2017, The Autobiography. But, Vic waited a whole six years later to put out his sophomore release, Victor. It is a big deal for him because of the wait, but also because of the big features. Rapsody, Common, Thundercat, Chance the Rapper, Jay Electronica and more appear on it.

Fans are taking a liking to the new release from MENSA because of the personal themes laced throughout the tracklist. Now, the multi-talented artist is continuing to ride this momentum throughout the rest of the year. Power 106 Los Angeles has seen some outrageous freestyles on their radio station and they just got to witness MENSA murder some classic instrumentals. The two beats he rapped over include “What It Feels Like” and “Get Down.”

The latter of the two is a Nas song from ’02, while the first is from Jay-Z and Nipsey Hussle’s collaboration. HipHopDX, grabbed some bars from both freestyles and they are fire. On “What It Feels Like,” VIC raps, “I ain’t lying on the beat, been scarred but I became king / Alexander Graham Bell the way my name ring / From here to China, my spirit is in alignment.” Then, on “Get Down,” he continues to spit. “That’s a concealed and carry / I move with military when I go in to march, like the end of February / I’m a king, I need three wives— the more, the merry / At the ADMAX, screaming ‘Free Jeff Fort and Larry.

Mickey Factz Floats Over Jay-Z’s “Encore” On L.A. Leakers: Watch

Bronx rapper Mickey Factz visited Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk on L.A. Leakers for some impressive bars. Over Jay-Z’s “Encore,” Factz gave a solid performance with some lyrical gems and potent flows. Even with all that skill, his proficiency is unsurprising. Specifically, this was his fourth freestyle with Credible and Sourmilk, and the veteran status shows.

Moreover, Factz dropped his newest album, It’s Only Us Here, last week on Friday, December 16th. It consists of fourteen tracks produced by Ayo Shamir and includes guests like Raheem DeVaughn, Sy Ari Da Kid, and Shareef Keyes. It’s filled with great rapping, not unlike the standard he brought to Power 106 Los Angeles with this freestyle. “Got a lot of real estate, check where the place at / Highrise office, where the lake at?/ All a dream like the ’95 finals ’cause I wanna Shake Shack.”

In fact, he didn’t contain his skills to just “Encore.” Also, the 40-year-old rapper flowed over Jadakiss’s “We Gonna Make It” with some engaging wordplay. “Wall Street trap s**t yeah / ‘Cause when my man came home / He learned the market then went and got a bag quick / While you putting calls to get a cash flip / I’ll be doing puts and calls to get a fast lick / and that’s the only option here’s the last tip / Only invest what you can afford, and that’s it.” While Ab-Soul’s recent freestyle was also incredible, Mickey Factz is keeping that quality up.

What did you think of Mickey Factz’s L.A. Leakers freestyle? Is it better than his Royce Da 5’9″ diss from last year? Let us know in the comments down below, and type in your favorite bars from it. Quotable Lyrics

When it comes to the money gotta make that
It’s a Puff Daddy slogan, homie gotta take that
Fendi umbrella where it rain at,
Had to put my baby all in the Fenty ASAP
Much love to Rihanna ’cause she made that
