Juicy J’s “Mental Trillness” Project Includes A Posthumous Gangsta Boo Feature: Stream

We can hardly believe it, but the final New Music Friday (March 31) of the month is upon us, bringing some seriously noteworthy new releases. Of course, singles from Quavo and Gucci Mane are already causing a stir online, and we have a strong selection of albums to share with you too. Tyler, The Creator’s updated version of CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST and Chlöe’s debut solo project, In Pieces, are already on our site, and now, Juicy J’s Mental Trillness is joining the ranks.

On the 18-track project, the Memphis native works with a handful of collaborators, including Finesse2tymes, Xavier Wulf, and La Chat. Another artist, Aleza, appears on two titles – “Ain’t Cool” and “No Rapper” with Slimeroni and K Carbon. Additionally, Juicy J paid tribute to the late Gangsta Boo with a posthumous feature on the second last title, “Follow Home Robbers.” While her verse isn’t actually new (it originally appeared on 2014’s “Come Off Dat”) it’s still a thoughtful way for the 47-year-old to remember his friend.

Juicy J Honours Gangsta Boo with “Follow Home Robbers”

As TMZ notes, the producer snuck another shoutout to his fallen Three 6 Mafia teammate into “Work Out,” his joint effort with Finesse. Landing on the tracklist ahead of “Follow Home Robbers,” Juicy J samples Gangsta Boo’s “Where Dem Dollas At” only the quickly emerging fan favourite. As you may recall, the female rap legend tragically lost her life on New Year’s Day after an evening of partying. Her believed cause of death is a drug overdose, marking yet another talented artist taken too soon due to substance abuse.

Check out Juicy J’s posthumous Gangsta Boo collaboration, “Follow Home Robbers” on YouTube above. Afterward, you can find the full Mental Trillness album on Spotify or Apple Music. For more new release recommendations, check back later this weekend for our Fire Emoji playlist update.

Lil Bibby Says Juice WRLD’s Final Album Is In The Works

Lil Bibby says that Juice WRLD’s final posthumous album is currently in the works. The Grade A Productions founder revealed the plans for a third project from the late rapper on Instagram, Saturday.

“The Last Juice WRLD Album is in the works,” Bibby wrote, before explaining, “We want this album to feel like a Celebration/Party! Let’s celebrate the life of Juice. No more mourning, I want everyone that Juice loved while he was here to help celebrate, especially his fans who he loved! You guys have been the best fans an artist can have (Minus the death threats to Bibby). I’m not gonna complain but I’ll jus say this is not easy. We miss you, We love you 999 til the world ends.” The statement captions a slow-motion video of Juice WRLD in the studio.

Juice WRLD’s last posthumous album, Fighting Demons, released back in 2021. The 22-track project saw the late rapper collaborate with Trippie Redd, Polo G, Justin Beiber, and BTS. His first album released following his death, Legends Never Die, dropped a year earlier. That effort featured the Weeknd, Trippie Redd, Marshmello, Polo G, the Kid Laroi, and Halsey.

Juice died back in 2019 of an accidental overdose of codeine and oxycodone. He had been flying from Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles to Midway International Airport in Chicago. Juice was notified that law enforcement officials were waiting to search the plane when it landed. He then shallowed multiple Percocet pills to hide them from police and began convulsing and seizing. He was then transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead at the age of 21.

Bibby didn’t provide any further details about the upcoming album from Juice WRLD. However, it will be his final project. The announcement comes after news broke that Opus Music Group quietly purchased Juice WRLD’s catalog for a nine-figure deal, last year. The deal entails 90% of his master income interest and 90% of publishing ownership. Check out Lil Bibby’s Juice WRLD announcement on Instagram below.

Lil Keed’s Posthumous “Long Way To Go” Earns A Spot On Our “Fire Emoji” Playlist

All through January, our Fire Emoji playlist brought new tunes from Ice Spice, Moneybagg Yo, A$AP Rocky, and Cordae. As we enter into a new month, the trend of hot new releases is only on the rise. This weekend, we’ve got titles from talented rappers both new and old, male and female, from coast to coast.

At the top of today’s roundup is Shy Glizzy and NBA YoungBoy’s collaborative single, “Fools Fall N Love.” The song notably has an anti-Valentine’s Day vibe to it, even though the Louisana-born rapper was recently married. It’s not the first time we’ve heard the two come together on the beat. Their streak of impressive releases previously began with “Where We Come From” and “Hard.”

Following that is the first official single from the forthcoming CREED III film. Michael B. Jordan is sitting in the director’s seat as well as starring in the movie. Additionally, Dreamville is executive producing the soundtrack. On Friday (February 3), the label shared “Ma Boy,” which subsequently showed up on our Fire Emoji playlist.

The new song finds master lyricists JID and Lute coming together to paint a vivid picture with their words. It remains unclear what other artists will assist in the project. Still, we do know it won’t be limited to just J. Cole’s team. The highly anticipated release is due out on March 3rd.

A posthumous single from Lil Keed also dropped yesterday, “Long Way To Go.” At the end of January, the late rapper’s mother made an announcement that new music from her son is coming soon. She’s organizing an album on his behalf, called Keed Talk To ‘Em 2, dropping in the near future – and likely bringing more titles to our Fire Emoji playlist.

Our final two selections of the weekend come from Skillibeng and Nardo Wick, who show out on their “16CHOPPA” single, as well as a frequent Fire Emoji flyer, GloRilla, who gave us her “Internet Trolls” track. Both titles have received a positive reaction from fans thus far, with the female rap diva’s audience continuing to grow as she rises closer to the top.

Stream our Fire Emoji update exclusively on Spotify below. Additionally, make sure to check back on Sunday (February 5) for more recommendations on our R&B Season playlist.

JayDaYoungan’s Posthumous “Forever 23 2x” Album Is Here

Last summer, JayDaYoungan tragically lost his life at 23 years old in the midst of a shooting. The hip-hop community was taken aback by the sudden and gruesome incident and has continued to keep the late lyricist in their thoughts and prayers ever since.

While he’s no longer here with us to share his musical creations himself, the Louisana native’s estate has been making sure his art gets into the hands of fans, just as Jay intended it would.

At the end of January, the “Opps” artist’s Instagram feed previously lit up with an exciting message. In that upload, it was chiefly promised that a posthumous album would be coming in February.

Today (February 3), the project finally made its debut. Titled Forever 23 2x, it consists of 16 new titles. The lone feature markedly comes from FG Famous on “Me & My Brudda.”

Aside from that collaborative effort, fans of JayDaYoungan will be undoubtedly happy to know that the other songs on the tracklist are comprised of his own work and clever lyricism.

As for production, names like JB Sauced Up, Heartbeatz, and Lako are among those who significantly crafted beats for Forever 23 2x.

After the album landed on streamers, another IG post went up to remind fans to stream. So far, several users have dubbed it a “no skips” release. Additionally, many others reminded DaYoungan in his heavenly home that they plan to “forever remember” him and his legacy.

Prior to his untimely passing, JDY made a name for himself with releases like his Scarred EP as well as “2 Lil N*ggas Uptown” with Lil Ivyjr and “Many Men” alongside Fredo Bang.

While we continue to mourn, make sure to stream JayDaYoungan’s posthumous Forever 23 2x album on Spotify or Apple Music below. Afterward, tell us your thoughts on the new project in the comments.

RIP.

XXXTENTACION & Lil Uzi Vert Team Up On “I’m Not Human”

XXXTENTACION’s estate released a brand new single featuring Lil Uzi Vert this morning.

Today marks what would’ve been XXXTENTACION’s 25th birthday. In celebration, his estate unveiled “I’m Not Human” ft. Lil Uzi Vert, and re-released 2015’s “VERY RARE FREESTYLE” on DSPs.

On “I’m Not Human,” XXXTENTACION and Uzi deliver an acoustic, melancholic record that further showcases their vocal prowess. The soft, guitar-driven production feels like it could’ve landed on 17. At the same time, Lil Uzi Vert is showcasing his range more than ever before. Though Uzi and X came up around the same time, “I’m Not Human” is the type of record that showcases how well they fuse together.

The two never collaborated together, though Uzi recently explained the friendly competitive spirit between them. During a concert in 2022, he paid homage to the XXXTENTACION on the anniversary of his death.

“That was, like, my only competition,” Uzi said of XXXTENTACION. “Every time I dropped, he dropped… He would go number one or I would go number one. Either way it was going to go, one of us was going to turn it up.”

“I’m Not Human” marks the first piece of music we’ve heard from XXXTENTACION since his 2022 appearance on Ye’s Donda 2. The Chicago artist enlisted X for “True Love,” which was later the only single off of the album to be released on DSPs.

As for Lil Uzi Vert, fans are certainly eager for the release of Pink Tape. The rapper unveiled “Just Wanna Rock” in 2022, which he recently performed at Drake’s concert at Apollo Theatre. Reports claim that the upcoming project is due out in February, though Uzi nor his team have confirmed a release date.

Check out XXXTENTACION and Lil Uzi Vert’s collaboration below and sound off with your thoughts in the comment section.
