Nicki Minaj Reflects On The ‘Last Time I Saw You’ On Her New Single

At long last, Nicki Minaj is back. Tonight (September 1), the Queen Barb has shared her new single, “Last Time I Saw You,” just two months ahead of her upcoming fifth studio album, Pink Friday 2.

On “Last Time I Saw You,” Nicki taps into her vocals, delivering a pop and R&B-influenced hit with a painfully relatable message. Throughout the song, she expresses regret for not holding someone closer the last time she saw them.

“I wish I’da hugged you tighter the last time that I saw you / I wish l didn’t waste precious time that night when I called you / I wish I remembered to say I’d do anything for you / Maybe I pushed you away because I thought that I’d bore you,” she sings.

With “Last Time I Saw You,” the Barbz are sure to keep the song on repeat as they dance this form of universal pain away.

Nicki hasn’t revealed too much about her upcoming album, but back in July, she teased a “masterpiece,” saying that her new collection of songs would “save & restore hope in mankind.”

Pink Friday 2 is out 11/17 via Republic Records and Heavy On It.

Nicki Minaj’s ‘NM5’ Now Has An Expected Release Date, And The Barbs, Are Completely Losing Their Sh*t

In March, Nicki Minaj announced the roster of her new record label, Heavy On It. The following month, the“Red Ruby Da Sleeze” rapper teamed up with Ice Spice for a partnership, kicking off with their collaborative track “Princess Diana (Remix).” Now her forthcoming album has an official release date.

Taking to Twitter, hip-hop’s favorite Barbie shared that her new project will be released before the year’s end. On social media, Minaj kept it short, writing, “10/20/23. The Album.”

This isn’t the first time Minaj has discussed the upcoming album. “NM5 is the best thing that will come out of 2023 & will raise the bar to new and unreachable heights,” Nicki wrote in a tweet. “NM5 tour will be hailed as ‘genius.’ That’s it & that’s all.”

When the album is released, it will mark Minaj’s first studio album in over five years. The last album she released was Queen in 2018. The album featured singles “Chun-Li,” “Barbie Dreams,” and “FEFE” with 6ix9ine.

Minaj has shared no further details. However, it is safe to assume that her latest singles, “Super Freaky Girl” and “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” will be included in the album’s tracklist.

Barbz, rejoice: It appears new Nicki Minaj music may finally be on the way.

Over the past few days, Nicki, whose real name is Onika Maraj, and her fans have been celebrating her accomplishments over the years, using the #OnikaWinsAgain hashtag.

Through the hashtag, you’ll see the loyal Barbz recalling iconic lines of the rapper’s, as well as some of her most memorable red carpet looks.

Now, it seems like Nicki is just about ready to reward the Barbz for their dedication.

Nicki has released several standalone singles over the past couple years, including “Seeing Green” and “Fractions” from the 2021 reissue of her 2009 mixtape, Beam Me Up, Scotty, as well as her 2022 No. 1 pop hit, “Super Freaky Girl.” However, it’s been almost five years since she released her fourth studio album, Queen.

But it looks like we may finally have an update as to when we can expect it.

Today (May 10), she teased that the album, which fans have nicknamed “NM5,” will arrive this year.

“NM5 is the best thing that will come out of 2023 & will raise the bar to new & unreachable heights,” Nicki said in a tweet. “NM5 tour will be hailed as “genius”. That’s it & that’s all.”

With recent features on tracks like Ice Spice’s “Princess Diana,” as well as Kim Petras’ “Alone,” as well as the launch of her “Heavy On It” record label, it appears a new era of Nicki may soon be upon us.

Nicki Minaj Reveals The Release Date For Her Highly Anticipated Single, ‘Freaky Girl’

Barbz, rejoice! It appears we finally have a release date for Nicki Minaj‘s long-anticipated comeback single. “Freaky Girl,” which samples Rick James’ classic single, “Super Freak,” will arrive next month.

According to an Instagram post from Minaj herself, she plans to give the Barbz two gifts in August. On August 11, she will air a new episode of her radio show Queen Radio via Amazon’s Amp app. On the following day, August 12, she will release the new single.

Minaj teased the single earlier this month via a clip on social media. The song is a catchy, randy cut, on which, she raps, “I can lick it, I can ride it while you slippin’ and slidin’/ I can do all them little tricks and keep the d*ck up inside it / You can smack it, you can grip it, you can go down and kiss it / And every time he leave me alone he always tell me he miss it.”

Ahead of the upcoming single, Minaj has taken to Twitter to tease a new alter ego, Nick James.

“#NickJames is coming to do what the girls SHOULD’VE done,” she said. “#NickJames is coming to show the girls why they should’ve just sat there & ate their foods. #NickJames is coming to show the boys how to REALLY gag the girls. Pauz #NickJames is coming to restore hope in mankind.”

Needless to say, we can’t wait.

Nicki Minaj Teases A New Song Sampling Rick James’ ‘Super Freak’

Barbz, rejoice. It appears NM5 is imminent. Yesterday, Nicki Minaj took to social media to tease new music. In the video clip, shared on her social channels, she is seen dancing on a couch, twerking in all her glory.

Fans get a taste of new music with the video, as a new song utilizing a heavy sample of Rick James’ “Super Freak” plays throughout.

“I can lick it, I can ride it while you slippin’ and slidin’/ I can do all them little tricks and keep the d*ck up inside it / You can smack it, you can grip it, you can go down and kiss it / And every time he leave me alone he always tell me he miss it,” she raps.

This isn’t the first time Nicki has interpolated “Super Freak.” In “Wanna Minaj,” a cut from her 2008 mixtape, Sucka Free, she freestyles over “Freaky Gurl” by Gucci Mane, on the chorus of which, Gucci raps, “She’s a very freaky girl / Don’t bring her to mama.”

As of now, Nicki has not yet announced a title or a release date for her hotly-anticipated fifth studio album, but in a February interview with The Dana Cortez Show, she revealed that fans can expect the rap stylings they loved Nicki for during her mixtape era.

“There’s a little bit of full-circle-ness happening,” Nicki said, “because I’m creating music kinda like how I used to create music when I first started rapping on mixtapes. I just feel like that’s what’s needed right now… [writing] raps that connect with people, that make people want to sign a long and channel their inner bad bitch.”
