Miley Cyrus Covered Dolly Parton And Performed With The Kid Laroi On ‘SNL’

As she’s done numerous times in her career over the last decade, Miley Cyrus once again found herself on the Saturday Night Live stage this weekend. Her gig as the show’s musical guest made for the singer’s sixth appearance on SNL. Thanks to this episode’s host, none other than Elon Musk, who had many viewers ready for some potential Dogecoin chatter, all eyes were on last night’s episode. Rather than the usual pair of performances that musical guests offer when they appear on the show, Cyrus blessed the audience with three songs last night.

She began the night with a cover of her godmother Dolly Parton’s “Light Of A Clear Blue Morning” for the show’s cold open. Rather than the typical sketch for the open, SNL cast members showed love to their moms with warm messages during the segment. “Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and this is for all the moms out there,” Cyrus said before delivering the cover.

Later in the show, she brought out The Kid Laroi to perform their new collaboration, “Without You,” a track that was remixed with a new verse from Cyrus last week. Lastly, to bring and end to the night, Cyrus returned one last time for a solo performance of “Plastic Hearts,” the title track from her 2020 album.

The Kid Laroi Brings Miley Cyrus Onboard For A Heartwrenching Remix Of ‘Without You’

After a lengthy list of delays that pushed the album back nearly 12 months, Miley Cyrus finally released her seventh album, Plastic Hearts to conclude 2020. Its release brought forth a number of performances from the singer, but any signs of new music that fans may have hoped for did not arrive until now. Cyrus joined The Kid Laroi for a remix of the 17-year-old’s track, “Without You.” The song lives on Laroi’s 2020 album Savage Love and details the aftermath of a broken love and how the pain of separation cuts so deeper than they might have expected. Miley’s addition also provides a back-and-forth conversation to help Laroi bring the songs’ theme to life.

For listeners who enjoy the song, it also comes with a video that finds the duo consoling each other through their respective heartbreaks. In addition to that, they’ll be able to watch the duo perform it on an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live. Cyrus was revealed as the musical guest for the show and shortly after she revealed her set would also feature the young Australian singer. “Live from New York with little bro,” she wrote in a post to Twitter that featured an image of the duo.

The song arrives after she covered Queen, Stevie Nicks, and Blondie during her NCAA Men’s Final Four set. She also celebrated the 15th anniversary of Hannah Montana with a lengthy letter to fans and flowers which she sent to Migos for their 2013 track of the same title.

You can listen to the remix in the video above.

Miley Cyrus Sent Flowers To Migos To Celebrate The 15th Anniversary Of Her ‘Hannah Montana’ TV Series

Miley Cyrus’ climb to worldwide recognition began 15 years ago with the Disney Channel premiere of her TV show Hannah Montana. The series, aimed at young viewers, arrived on March 24, 2006 and continued for almost five years before ending in 2011. The show undoubtedly played a huge role in her career and she even admitted that she “would love to” bring it back in some way. But until that happens, a celebration of the anniversary is in order and the singer made sure to take a moment and reflect, but not without showing love to the Migos for their 2013 single “Hannah Montana.”

The rap trio took to Instagram to reveal that Miley sent them flowers as a thank you for the song. While the lyrics weren’t about the TV show or even Miley Cyrus herself, the singer still appreciated their decision to name the song after her character, which she shared in a message attached to the flowers. “I [love] your song about me! Keep rockin’!” she wrote before signing off on the note as Hannah Montana.

Cyrus also shared a lengthy statement that about Hannah Montana that reflected on the highs and lows of the show. She also discussed important life events that occurred while filming what she took away from it when it came to an end.
