Who Is London Hill, Nicki Minaj’s New Artist?

The modern rap scene always welcomes women’s voices. Bronx native London Hill might be the next big sensation. Growing up in New York City, London has described herself as having a “fun and gritty” upbringing. According to an interview with Diamond Kut Media, she plans to incorporate the same feeling into her music. London describes her music as having an old hip-hop flare combined with Caribbean fusion. This makes her contribution to the modern rap community a unique one.

Recently, Nicki Minaj revealed she was launching a record label. One of her first signees is none other than London Hill. The pair’s union has caused an uproar as fans are clamoring to figure out when this newcomer is. Many aspects of London’s life remain a mystery, but it’s safe to say she will soon cause an exciting disruption in the female rap community.

Early life

American rapper London Hill was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. She was raised to be ambitious and go after what she wants. This is displayed beautifully and masterfully throughout her new music career. Hill claims she grew up always singing around the house. Once she tapped into rap, new career goals began to manifest. She soon discovered the hip-hop world and decided to dive head-first into a new chapter of her life.

Debut

London Hill released her first-ever track, “Kitty,” on SoundCloud under the name “London Hilll,” adding an extra “l.” Her first song was released in September 2018, setting the stage for many upcoming songs. “Kitty” revealed her capacity to convey rebellion and lust through her lyrics and production. She has since released similar tracks independently, and her small and growing community of fans has continued to applaud her.

In 2019 she also released “Throw It Back,” featuring rapper Cjenkz, and two other songs featuring Fergie Baby and Ziico Niico. She has since delivered more music professionally through Spotify. As her career advances, especially with Minaj’s co-sign, London Hill’s career is reaching new heights.

Influences

London Hill has been vocal about the influences that brought her to where she is today. The artist is heavily inspired by the works of Minaj, and her dream was always been to work together someday. While London Hill is inspired by various women in hip-hop, she is adamant about showing the world that she is different from the rest. Even her lyrics convey a whole new energy that other artists have yet to display. Fans will not be able to get enough of her sound.

Predictions

Hill has made it clear she wants to make her name known in the music and entertainment industry. As she continues to work on this mysterious project with star Minaj, Nicki will inevitably give her the game on the Industry. Female rappers have been dominating, especially over the last decade, giving London Hill an even better chance at success. She has manifested her rise to fame, and there is no going back. It’s London’s time to shine; nobody can get in her way now.

Nicki Minaj Shared The Roster (But Not The Name) Of Her Brand New Record Label

Nicki Minaj had herself a weekend. Friday, March 3, brought fans “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” her first single since her No. 1 smash “Super Freaky Girl.” Saturday, March 4, she manifested a full-circle moment by surprisingly joining Lil Wayne’s set at Rolling Loud California. (She was the first-ever woman rapper to headline last year’s Rolling Loud New York.)

Minaj perhaps unintentionally buried the lede, she also made a major announcement on the Friday episode of her Queen Radio.

“Well, I have a record label now,” Minaj confirmed on the latest episode (as noted by Complex). The diamond-certified rapper didn’t reveal the name of her record label yet, but Patty Lauren (aka Patty Duke) has been tapped as the A&R.

Complex additionally relayed that the roster includes Nana Fofie, London Hill, Rico Danna, and Tate Kobang.

Per Billboard, Minaj credited Republic co-president Wendy Goldstein with pushing her to create her own label — “I don’t want no little itty-bitty ting ting; I want to do it right”— and clarified that her artists will be diverse (“Don’t think my label is just rap or Black or anything”).

Fofie’s since-expired Instagram Story showed her and the rest of Minaj’s new roster toasting “to better days,” and Kobang also posted a celebratory Instagram. See the posts below.

Nicki Minaj’s Record Label Signs 4 Artists: Nana Fofie, Skeng, London Hill, And Rico Danna

She fell back, she had a baby. She did the mother thing, the wife thing, all that… But now, Nicki Minaj is ready to put her foot on the music industry’s neck once again. 2022 saw her begin an impressive comeback to the rap game, and this New Music Friday (March 4), she dropped off her first single of the year, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” much to fans’ pleasure. Of course, that wasn’t the only big announcement she had in store for us this weekend.

As the weekend was beginning, the mother of one revealed during her Queen Radio show that she officially has a record label of her own, making her the first female artist to achieve such a feat. “I’m not gonna announce the name but I have a record label now,” she dished during last night’s episode. “Because I believe so strongly in loyalty and because I spent my whole life giving you others that turned around and shit on me.”

Nicki Has Big News

As UrbanIslandz reports, Minaj first teased the possibility of her own label in January 2022. Obviously, the Queen of Rap can only have the best on her team, which is why she hired Wendy Goldstein as president of her Republic Records imprint. The industry executive has spent 30 years overseeing creatives in hip-hop, beginning at Epic Records in 1993 and later securing the bag as an A&R at Universal Music’s Geffen Records. In her time in the latter position, she signed the likes of Mos Def, Common, and The Roots.

Elsewhere in her announcement, the Trinidadian native announced that she’s already brought on four signees, each of them bringing something totally unique to the table. First up is Ghanaian singer, Nana Fofie, who appeared in the studio with Minaj as she was doing her Queen Radio broadcast. We’ll also be hearing from Jamaica’s Skeng, who was recently seen shooting a music video with the fashionista during her Carnival vacation in her homeland.

First Signees Revealed

Others who Nicki Minaj wants you to have on your radar include Bronx rapper London Hill, and Rico Danna. The former previously appeared alongside the 40-year-old on her “Likkle Miss (Fine Nine Remix),” and was quick to react to last night’s exciting news. “I Told Ya I Was Cooking Just Wait On Me Yall Love Yall xoxooo,” she wrote on social media.

As for the latter, we saw the rap diva support his “Yeah Yeah” single last October, at which time she teased “big things coming.” Are you excited to hear what Minaj’s record label has in store? Sound off in the comments, and check back later for more hip-hop news updates.
