Tom Brady On Possibility Of Unretiring Again: “My Family Would Kill Me”

Tom Brady has once more shut down the idea that he might one day return to the NFL, saying his family would “kill him” if he did. The latest broaching of the topic came after YouTuber MrBeast suggested that the ratings of Brady’s Let’s Go podcast, on which Beast was guesting, would skyrocket if Brady returned to the league. “My parents would call, my kids would call. They’d kill me. I wouldn’t be around by tonight,” Brady said.

Furthermore, it’s not a statement without precedent. Brady’s decision to unretire and play in the 2022 NFL season was widely been cited as one of the factors that led to his high-profile divorce from Gisele Bündchen. However, Brady has been adamant that his retirement following the 2022 season is final. He won’t be coming back to the league to help the Pats, Jets, Raiders, or whoever else desperately needs a starting quarterback.

However, maybe staying from football is the best thing for Brady right now. In a recent episode of Let’s Go, Brady hinted at some trouble behind the scenes in his life. “We should all have self-awareness, it’s a hard trait to have. “We’re in a culture where it’s hard to own up to things these days. For someone like me, I’m in the public eye a lot. I always try to say the right thing. I don’t want to deal with any more drama in my life, I already have a lot of drama,” Brady said. It’s unclear what drama Brady is referring to in particular.

However, one likely source may be his love life. Brady split with long-time wife Gisele Bündchen last year. Bündchen has begun to open up about the divorce in more detail in recent weeks. Meanwhile, Brady has been linked to a fling with Russian model Irina Shayk. Despite this, reports suggest that Shayk is more interested in getting hitched to her long-time ex, Bradley Cooper.

Tom Brady Reveals Post-NFL Weight Loss, Attributes It To Calmer Lifestyle

Tom Brady says he’s lost 10 lbs since retiring from the NFL. Speaking on the Let’s Go podcast, Brady attributed it, and his leaner and fitter figure, to finally being able to relax. “I haven’t had the stress that I had while I was playing so that’s allowed me to focus a little bit more on my physical health. You could prioritize a lot of other things — career, kids, relationships, family, greater good, community. But at the end of the day, physical and mental health should sit at the top of the pyramid.” Previously, Brady revealed he had lost 15 lbs during his final season in the league. However, that was a mix of a bad season compounded by his unfolding divorce.

Brady stepped away after the 2022 season and has been adamant about kicking back and relaxing. Brady will become part of the NFL broadcast team at Fox in 2024. However, until then, he has been vocal about exploring all the things he wasn’t able to do as an NFL quarterback. He’s been seen all of the world in recent months and has made sporting investments in the Aces, Raiders, and Birmingham City FC.

One of the areas in which Brady has invested a lot of time is romance. Throughout the summer, Brady has been linked with Russian model Irina Shayk. However, Brady has been spotted wining and dining other women in Miami and New York in recent weeks. Furthermore, another claimed that “Brady is not interested in being serious with anyone right now. His priorities are his kids and his business interests. There will be more supermodels in his future.” Brady is primarily based in Miami but maintains a residence in NYC.

Despite these salacious claims, the arrangement may suit Shayk just fine. Per the outlet, Shayk doesn’t see the former NFL pro as a long-term romantic option. According to a source, Shayk’s end goal is to marry ex-boyfriend Bradley Cooper, with whom she shares a six-year-old daughter. This comes after a trip the pair took together in late August. During that Italian vacation, Shayk was seen posing topless. “Years have been put into the relationship,” the source said.

“There’s always gonna be a part [of me] that wants to play and a part of me that, you know, feels like I can play,” Brady said. “I think there’s just a decision to know that it’s the right time. So I think for me it’s more of just, it’s gonna end at some point, and I think now’s the time. And it’s not that I can’t do it. It’s not that I wouldn’t want to do it. It’s not that I wouldn’t be excited to play. I love playing football. I’ve loved playing football since I was a kid on the street on Portola Drive. So I think it’s just a decision that it’s time to do other things.”

Initially, Brady said that he would only retire once he actually sucks at football. Now, however, it is clear that his priorities have changed. Besides, with seven Super Bowls to his name, it’s not like he actually had anything to prove to anyone. Let us know what you thought of Brady’s decision, in the comments below.
