In return for Irving, the Nets will receive Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round and multiple second-round picks.

LeBron James and Kyrie Irving used to be great teammates on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Of course, Irving eventually left as he wanted to be the captain of his own squad. However, that didn’t go down as planned. Consequently, Kyrie left the Boston Celtics under dubious circumstances. He subsequently signed with the Brooklyn Nets, and the team hasn’t seen peace since. Instead, there has been a wide variety of drama that has included both Kyrie and Kevin Durant. For Nets fans, it has been hell, with a little hope sprinkled in on top.
Today, Kyrie dropped an absolute bomb on the Nets franchise. After a week of contract negotiations, Irving has requested a trade from the team. Now, the Nets can either deal Irving by next week’s deadline, or they can simply let him walk in free agency. No matter what, this is the worst thing the Nets could have asked for. They will now have to make some massive decisions, all while rival teams circle the waters. In fact, the Lakers and the Mavericks are already perking up, ready with packages to offer.
Now, it appears as though none other than LeBron is weighing in on this drama. Although, it is important to note that he didn’t exactly say any real words about the topic. However, sometimes you can simply interpret things based on their timing, and that is exactly what is happening here. Overall, this situation could get very ugly over the coming days. Numerous teams will want to make a deal, and it will be up to the Nets whether to accept. Before the season started, Irving requested a sign-and-trade, but ultimately opted in the final year of his four-year max contract.
For the season, Irving is averaged 27.1 points, 5.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds. The Nets sit at 31-20 and were believed to be a contender in the Eastern Conference.

Today, Irving told the team that he would prefer to be sent to another team by the deadline. Moreover, if he isn’t traded, he will simply walk away during free agency. No matter what, this is a horrible situation for the Nets to be in. With Kevin Durant out of the lineup, they have been relying on Kyrie. Not to mention, with KD in the lineup, the team was playing championship basketball. Now, however, Kyrie is throwing all of that away, and NBA fans are eager to see how this plays out.
The most obvious destination for Kyrie is the Lakers. They are willing to give up Russell Westbrook and their two future first-round picks. Last night, Kyrie and the Nets tried to take on the Celtics, in Boston. Over the course of the year, the Celtics have looked like the best team in the league. On Wednesday night, they showcased that as they blew the Nets out of the water. They won 139-96, and even had a 46-16 lead following the first quarter. Overall, it was a pretty bad game for the Nets. Furthermore, it was not a great welcome for Kyrie, who was booed incessantly by fans. It was pretty hard for him to hear anything other than those boos during the warmup.
While it was a bad night for Kyrie, he should still keep his head up. Durant could be returning to the lineup soon, and when he does, the Nets will immediately become a solid squad again. According to Nets Daily, Irving has spoken out about this latest dispute. As you can imagine, Kyrie is taking the side of the players. He understands just how important travel arrangements are and is advocating for proper conditions. For Irving, peace of mind is extremely important in this situation.
“As one of the Vice Presidents in the NBPA, we’ve discussed a range of these things, and I wish it was as easy as getting it tomorrow, but business takes a little bit of patience, and our W ladies have been patient long enough,” Irving said. “We’ve definitely gotta get something done, and I’m with them no matter how much it costs. I think we could all collectively come together and make something very doable happen, and we just want to have our ladies have peace of mind while they’re playing.”

Overall, this is a tough situation given the fact that some owners want chartered flights, and others don’t. Those who don’t like the idea believe it would bankrupt their teams. Needless to say, it is a sticky situation.

Kyrie Has A Plan
According to Bleacher Report, Irving’s agent Shetellia Irving has made it clear as to where Kyrie wants to be. Essentially, Irving wants to remain in Brooklyn for the long haul. He wants to make things work there long-term, and it is up to the Nets to reciprocate this desire.
“Around Kyrie and staying with the Nets? I have reached out to the Nets regarding this,” his agent said. “We have had no significant conversations to date. The desire is to make Brooklyn home, with the right type of extension, which means the ball is in the Nets’ court to communicate now if their desire is the same.”

On Sunday night, the Nets struggled against the Oklahoma City Thunder. By all accounts, the Thunder are a team they should be defeating. However, Kyrie only put up 15 points, and largely struggled throughout the match.

Following the game, Kyrie spoke to reporters about the game and whether or not there was something the Nets could do better. Additionally, Irving was asked about KD and whether or not his absence will hurt this team long-term. Overall, Irving was not impressed with the notion that his team is in trouble.
“I don’t think we’re gonna struggle without Kevin [Durant] out,” Irving said. “That’s not my belief. I know guys in the locker room don’t believe that and this isn’t last year at all. The comparison just gotta stop.”

Irving went on to say that his team is more than capable of filling any gaps. There are some amazing talents on the Nets, and Kyrie strongly believes in his teammates.
“Invite the growth that can happen here. Guys can definitely fill in some shoes, play some different roles, and it gives us a chance to really grow as individuals,” Irving said. “Some guys have been in this position, some guys have not. It was all glory, glory last week when we were winning game after game and now we’re answering questions about potentially struggling.”

Kyrie Suspended
Despite his lack of activity on Instagram, Kyrie’s main account was suspended from the platform on Thursday. Kyrie announced this to his fans while using a second account. It was quite a surprising reveal, especially since Instagram didn’t give a reason.
“They suspended my @kyrieirving account, idk why, nor do I care to know the reason why,” Irving said. “Tribe My Tribe: Make sure y’all are paying attention to everything that’s going on. Stand firm no matter what.”
