Denzel Curry Makes It Rain At The Strip Club In His Debauched ‘Got Me Geeked’ Video

Denzel Curry’s new album King Of The Mischievous South is out now, along with a new music video for “Got Me Geeked.” The clip captures a debauched night at the strip club, where Denzel makes it rain, customers find themselves lost in the sauce, and of course, a fight breaks out over a spilled drink. It’s all in a night’s work for the dedicated dancers, though, who keep twerking through it all, spinning on the pole, and collecting bills from the stage.

King Of The Mischievous South is the album version of the mixtape Denzel released earlier this year, King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2 (yes, it’s a little confusing, but Zel does what he wants), adding a handful of additional songs with features from alt-rap rising stars like Bktherula and Lazer Dim, as well as Dirty South mainstays like Duke Deuce and Sauce Walka. The project pays homage to the region’s musical lineage and legacy, from Memphis crunk and trap to Houston screw and Florida bounce, all filtered through Denzel’s unique, internet-influenced lens. It also still features fan favorite singles like “Hot One” with Ferg and TiaCorine, “Hoodlumz” with ASAP Rocky and PlayThatBoiZay, and “Set It” with Maxo Kream. You can catch Denzel live this weekend at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in LA.

Denzel Curry Is Re-Releasing His Mixtape, ‘King Of The Mischievous South,’ As An Album With New Songs And A Different Tracklist

The debate about what constitutes an album versus a mixtape has raged since the introduction of digital music. Denzel Curry is about to blur the lines even further with his next release. In July, he released King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2, a follow-up to his 2012 mixtape King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 1. Today, he announced the release date of King Of The Mischievous South, the album, which updates the tracklist of the July mixtape with five new songs and a new track order. The album is due on November 15.

The new songs on the album version will include “Act A Damn Fool” featuring Duke Deuce and Slim Guerilla, “Got Me Geeked,” “P.O.P.” featuring Key Nata and Sauce Walka, “Anotha Late Night” featuring 454, and new single, “Still In The Paint” featuring Bktherula and Laser Dim 700, which he released the video for today, as well. Original tracks like “Hot One,” “Black Flag Freestyle,” “Hoodlumz,” and “Set It” remain. You can watch the video for “Still In The Paint” above.

Denzel Curry Does Waka Flocka’s Classic Justice With “Still In The Paint” Featuring Lazer Dim 700 & Bktherula

Anytime Denzel Curry drops an album, it’s pretty much a guarantee that it’s going to be a contender for best of that year. 2024 is no different as the Florida rapper revived his King Of The Mischievous South series over a decade later with Vol. 2. It was instead billed as an album, but it didn’t lose the nostalgic mixtape qualities of the original. From front to back, Zeltron put together banger after banger and did so with paying homage to the Memphis sound he’s done such a great job with over the years. It felt elevated somehow compared to his previous efforts and it remains in rotation for us since its release in July.

However, he isn’t done with this era just yet, even though it’s already great. But knowing how talented he is, he’s one of those MC’s who manages to outdo himself. Denzel Curry has done just that and then some on his new single “STILL IN THE PAINT.” It’s the lead-off track for the deluxe KOTMS V2, which is going to be just referred to as King Of The Mischievous South. It will arrive on November 15 and will include three extra tracks plus “STILL IN THE PAINT.”

If the title sounds familiar, that’s because Curry is sampling Waka Flocka’s magnum opus, “Hard in Da Paint.” Charlie Heat cleans up the mixing and it sounds absolutely bonkers. Waka must be proud of the results, especially since he makes cameos in the song’s music video. The energy is contagious thanks to LAZER DIM 700 and Bktherula understanding the assignment. It may be the best pure banger of the year and it’s going to be on repeat for a while.

Quotable Lyrics:

Charlie just threw me some heat, I’mma send it up
‘Zel gotta finish them, then you’ll be finished
I’m feelin’ like Druski, I’m standin’ on business
ULTRAGROUND terminator, put you on a ventilator
Talkin’ to you player-haters, what the f*** is up
All of my n****s be known to get bucked
