For years, Diddy was a cultural icon, but his reputation has soured significantly lately due to the sex trafficking and assault allegations he’s facing. So, many people with any sort of even tangential association to him are doing what they can to distance themselves from him, and now that includes Jonas Brothers member Joe Jonas.
On September 28, Jonas Brothers performed at LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu, France. During the set, the brothers performed “Cake By The Ocean,” a favorite by Joe’s other band, DNCE. Video of the performance is just now starting to pick up some attention, as NME notes, due to a lyric change.
Usually, Joe sings, “Walk for me, baby / I’ll be Diddy, you’ll be Naomi,” but in France, he sang, “Walk for me, baby / I’ll be watching you be Naomi.”
This follows Kesha making a similar alteration earlier this year: Performing “Tik Tok” alongside Reneé Rapp at Coachella, she changed the Diddy lyric from “Wake up in the morning, feeling like P. Diddy” to “Wake up in the morning like, ‘F*ck P. Diddy!’”
It was reported earlier this week that Diddy could face an addition 120 lawsuits from alleged sexual assault victims, including some who were underage at the times of the alleged incidents.
The echoes of a young Joe Jonas belting out tunes permeated the walls of the Jonas household long before global tours and platinum records were in the picture. Nestled in New Jersey’s suburban embrace, Joe and his brothers found both solace and a playground for their burgeoning musical talents. Faith played a pivotal role, with their father’s ministerial background weaving threads of compassion, integrity, and humility into their upbringing. The living room became their first stage, the setting for countless impromptu performances and brotherly duels in harmonics.
Church choirs and local talent shows gave Joe glimpses of the limelight, teasing at the larger stages that awaited. While the world saw a rising star, those early years shaped a grounded individual who knew the value of family, hard work, and perseverance. Music was not just a passion; it was a calling. As Joe navigated the challenges of adolescence, it became evident that his path was irrevocably intertwined with melodies, lyrics, and the endless pursuit of artistic expression.
These foundational years, echoing with laughter, lessons, and lullabies, were the prologue to the epic tale of Joe Jonas, the music maestro. By the end of this chapter, the world was about to take note of a prodigious talent, ready to claim his spot in pop culture’s illustrious hall of fame. This has helped Joe Jonas to amass a net worth of $50 million by 2023, as per the records of CelebrityNetWorth.
A Symphony of Success: Career Highlights & Accolades
Riding the wave of adolescent enthusiasm and talent, Joe and his siblings emerged as a force in the pop music industry. The Jonas Brothers became an emblematic trio, with their melodies ringing out from every teenager’s room in the late 2000s. “Burnin’ Up,” “Sucker,” and the list goes on – these were not just songs but anthems of a generation. Award shows soon became their regular haunt; their shelves teeming with trophies. While a formidable presence with his brothers, Joe also branched out to etch a successful solo career. His voice, an amalgamation of silken notes and raspy undertones, added an unparalleled dimension to every track he graced.
Beyond The Spotlight: Joe’s Personal Tapestry
Beyond the glitz of the stage, Joe’s personal life has been nothing short of intriguing. From his high-profile relationships that kept tabloids buzzing to his eventual heartwarming nuptials with Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, his life has been a medley of moments worth a feature. And let’s not forget the whirlwind romance that led to a surprise Vegas wedding officiated by none other than an Elvis impersonator. If that doesn’t scream ‘Joe Jonas,’ what does? While public eyes have often been fixed on his romantic pursuits, his journey as a father has painted a portrait of a man deeply invested in his new role, cherishing every giggle and coo from his little one. In September 2023, Jonas filed for divorce from his wife.
Empire Building & Giving Back
With success in the arts comes the inevitable expansion into the entrepreneurial world. Joe Jonas didn’t merely rest on his laurels. He utilized his fortune and fame to venture into businesses that echoed his interests and ethos. Tequila brands, app launches, and even a foray into the restaurant industry showcase the breadth of his business acumen. But what truly stands out is his philanthropic spirit. He’s championed causes close to his heart. These range from children’s charities to mental health initiatives. This ensures that his footprint isn’t just in the world of entertainment but also in spheres that ignite positive change. And while many celebrities can tout their financial successes, the mark they leave on the world resonates deeply.
Haley Lu Richardson has been a fan of the Jonas Brothers since she was a teenager. The White Lotus star is now living her teenage (and adult) self’s dream by starring in music videos with the group and serving as the official “Jonas Brothers Correspondent” for the Today show.
To celebrate the release of the Jonas Brothers’ sixth album, the cleverly titled The Album, Richardson reported from the group’s performance outside of Studio 1A on Friday morning. “I love you, Kevin! I love you, Nick! I love you, Joe!” she shouted at the boys. “They love me too! They said it! Did you hear?”
The day before, the actress proved her love not through words or chocolate or wine, but by twerking.
Richardson revealed her favorite Jonas Brother in an interview with People. “Obviously I was in love with Nick for my whole life. If I had to pick, it would probably be Nick just because of this one-sided connection that I’ve had for him since I was 10,” she said. “But honestly, after meeting them and being a fan of them into adulthood, I truly just see what makes them each so absolutely uniquely incredible and talented, and the things they each bring to the band and also the world. I just absolutely love all three of them.”
Something In The Water Festival, the Pharrell-led shindig returning to Virginia Beach on April 28, has revealed the “final” lineup of the Pharrell’s Phriends headlining set. This year, the multitalented, nigh-ageless producer will be joined on stage by a cadre of blog-era faves and Golden Era influences. ASAP Rocky and M.I.A. will represent the former, while Native Tongues mainstays Busta Rhymes and De La Soul make up the latter. Meanwhile, the updated flyer promises even more surprise guests that “we can’t announce” yet, so it seems fans will want to stick around to find out who else shows up.
In the past, Pharrell’s Phriends have included frequent collaborators like Clipse, Justin Timberlake, NORE, and Q-Tip, as well as SZA. This year’s additions include artists who share Pharrell’s adventurous, experimental approach to music, as well as the artists who inspired him as a young, aspiring rapper. Pharrell recently gave fans his advice on which of De La Soul’s recently re-released albums to stream and was once in a rap trio that was very De La Soul/A Tribe Called Quest-inspired with Timbaland and Magoo called Surrounded By Idiots. They recorded a demo that you can find on YouTube, but never released an album.
In addition to the Pharrell’s Phriends performers above, the festival also added Arcade Fire, Jonas Brothers, and Third Eye Blind to the lineup.
Something In The Water Festival is April 28-30 in Virginia Beach. You can find more info here.
When SNL alumni return for hosting duties, they tend to dust off some old favorites. Molly Shannon did plenty of that on Saturday. The Emmy-winning performer — who can be seen in the Florence Pugh drama A Good Person and just published the memoir Hello, Molly! — threw in a nod to Mary Katherine Gallagher, her uptight Catholic school girl who just wants to dance, in her opening monologue. Later she resurrected her bad stand-up Jeannie Darcy. But perhaps the biggest one was when she broke out another dancing character, Sally O’Malley.
Debuted in 1999, Sally is a salty, spry, and perpetually 50-year-old energy bomb, clad in a red jump-suit with a towering bouffant ‘do. She’s a symbol of eternal youth in an ever-aging body. The musical guest that night were the Jonas Brothers, who were game to team up with Shannon for the episode’s big promo, and again when Sally O’Malley made her triumphant return.
The sketch finds Sally being recruited by the trio to be their new choreographer. Their exiting choreographers are nonplussed about it, doubting that the Jonases would want an older vibe. But they’re wrong: Kevin, Joe, and Nick are already wearing their own red jump-suits and are ready to do some high kicks.
When the original Space Jam premiered in 1996 one of the elements that made it so iconic for kids of the era was its accompanying soundtrack, which is widely regarded as one of the best-produced film soundtracks of all time. Its eclectic collection of hip-hop, R&B, and pop artists was a hit, highlighting the increasing popularity of rap and its influence over the basketball world. So, naturally, for LeBron James’ sequel, Space Jam: A New Legacy, the bar is rather high — both for the film itself and for its soundtrack, which will likely be instantly compared to its groundbreaking predecessor.
Today, exactly one month before the film’s release — the soundtrack drops one week before — Warner Bros. pictures introduced the soundtrack’s “starting lineup” with a fun reveal video showing which of today’s stars have earned placement on what will undoubtedly be one of the more listened to soundtracks of the year. The video also shows off each star’s relative level of hoop skills and let’s just say it’s a good thing LeBron has the Looney Tunes on his team because some of these passes are looking rough.
Of course, stars like 24kGoldn, Aminé, Anthony Ramos, Big Freedia, Brockhampton, Chance The Rapper, Cordae, Duckwrth, G-Eazy, John Legend, Jonas Brothers, Joyner Lucas, Kash Doll, Kirk Franklin, Leon Bridges, Lil Baby, Lil Tecca, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Wayne, P-Lo, Saint JHN, Salt-N-Pepa, Saweetie, Symba, and White Dave are here to rap or sing and not hoop — although Dame D.O.L.L.A. is in there, pulling double duty as he also plays one of the villainous Goon Squad players in the movie.
The New Legacy soundtrack is due 7/9 via Republic Records and WB Watertower Music. The film itself hits theaters 7/16.

Last year, Nick Jonas pointed out that while Drake has the “Drake curse,” which apparently causes teams and athletes that associate with him to do poorly, Jonas has an opposite sort of thing going on. He noticed what he dubbed the “Jonas blessing,” a trend of athletes — Patrick Mahomes, Cody Bellinger, and Lewis Hamilton — going on to have great success after having some sort of involvement with him and the Jonas Brothers.
He spoke about that on The Tonight Show yesterday, joking with Jimmy Fallon that he’s thinking about charging athletes to get blessed:
“It’s quite simple, you know? In reality, what happened is when the brothers back together — we went on tour, the Happiness Begins tour, back in 2019 — we had a number of athletes, high-performing athletes, come out to some shows. So the first was Cody Bellinger, who then went on to win the World Series with the Dodgers, right? We had Patrick Mahomes, who in the 2020 Super Bowl won the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs. He came to a show in KC. And then Lewis Hamilton, who surpassed the all-time record, he went on to, after he came to a show, to do that. So basically, we established, and I think it was really me more than the brothers that… I saw the trend, I was saying, ‘We’re going to have to start charging these athletes.’ If they want the ‘Jonas blessing,’ to come to a show and then go on to win a championship, they’re going to have to pay up, you know?”
He then added, “Little-known fact, too, Jimmy, is that Tom Brady, we actually did a private COVID-safe show for Tom Brady before the Super Bowl and that’s why [he won].”
