Drake Teased His ‘For All The Dogs’ Album During ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’ Opening Night In Chicago

Remember, mere months ago, when Drake had people believing he might be on the cusp of retirement? That was cute.

Drake couldn’t be more active right now. Two weeks ago, he surprise-dropped a poetry book and printed a QR code in select newspapers to tease an accompanying album, entitled For All The Dogs. His and 21 Savage’s It’s All A Blur Tour kicked off its three-month North American leg at Chicago’s United Center on Wednesday night, July 5, and he didn’t waste time stoking the anticipation.

According to the Drake fan account Word On Road, Drake told the crowd, “I have an album coming out soon for you’ll.”

The account also relayed that Drake began his set with the Take Care track “Look What You’ve Done” and chronicled his setlist in real time.

Photos surfaced online prior to the show of the It’s All A Blur Tour merch, including Nike hats, bucket hats, and several graphic tees.

Drake and Savage will perform again in Chicago on Thursday, July 6, before hitting Detroit, Michigan for back-to-back shows at Little Caesars Arena. The exhaustive leg is scheduled to conclude in early October. Drake will stage two assuredly epic hometown shows at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on October 5 and October 7, ending with the rescheduled Columbus, Ohio date on October 9.

The It’s All A Blur Tour is Drake’s first North American tour since 2018.

Here’s The Inspiration Behind The Virgil Abloh Statue On Drake’s ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’

On Wednesday night, July 5, Drake and 21 Savage’s winding It’s All A Blur Tour kicks off at Chicago’s United Center. Drake reminisced on his formative Degrassi days to hype up himself and fans for opening night, and the tour’s staging is reflective in an especially sentimental way.

“Our brother is watching,” Drake wrote to his Instagram Story atop a photo of a larger-than-life statue of the late Virgil Abloh.

NFR Podcast also tweeted, “Drake & 21 Savage’s tour stage design honors the late great Virgil Abloh with a statue [dove emoji] It pays homage to Virgil’s first Louis Vuitton fashion show in 2018!”

Abloh was an artistic polymath. He died aged 41 in November 2021 after an intensely private two-years-plus battle with cancer. The Chicago-area native’s seemingly sudden passing was met with an outpouring of grief on social media from prominent figures in music, fashion, and entertainment.

In the immediate aftermath, Drake paid tribute by getting a tattoo depicting the same photo that the It’s All A Blur statue recreated.

Abloh served as the Artistic Director Of Menswear for Louis Vuitton until his death, and Pharrell Williams stepped into the vacant role earlier this year.

Drake and Savage’s It’s All A Blur Tour will return to the United Center on Thursday, July 6. They’re then set to perform back-to-back nights at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, July 8, and Sunday, July 9.

The ambitious trek is scheduled to last into October. See all of the dates here.

Drake And 21 Savage’s ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’ Merch Features Nike Hats And Several Graphic Tees

Drake and 21 Savage are opening their highly anticipated (and slightly delayed) It’s All A Blur Tour on Wednesday, July 5, at Chicago’s United Center. Earlier in the day, Drake shared a teaser trailer video that featured him reminiscing on getting high before his Degrassi audition and called back to his formative acting role again to warn, “If anyone got beef with Savage on tour this how I’m coming be warned.” Savage, meanwhile, posted some mirror selfies.

Fans began sharing footage from United Center online as show time drew nearer, including a first official look at the It’s All A Blur Tour merch and a larger-than-life statue of the late Virgil Abloh.

A nine-second, fan-captured video shows white Nike hats, black “It’s All A Blur” bucket hates, several spray-painted graphic tees, and Drake’s newly published poetry book. One black tee simply says, “Peer pressure.”

The latter hints at what Drake was talking about in his earlier teaser video on Instagram:

“Someone asked me the other night what my biggest fear is, and I’ve never really had a good answer for it, but my answer was that all this is for nothing. Kind the idea that like, one day, life ends and it just all goes black, and I guess that question, like, sent me, you know, obviously deep into a spiral of thought. And it makes me think about my life and how surreal it feels at times.

I go back to this day when I was like 13 or 14. I had an audition for a TV show that ultimately shaped my life. And before my audition, I went to this kid’s house and um, I, out of, I guess, a desire to be accepted, I would succumb to peer pressure, and I got high with these kids right before my audition. And um, I kind of wonder, like, if something bad happened that day, or you know, maybe I’m still high, maybe I’m in some coma and this is just like me playing out my ideal life, and yeah, that concept has stuck with me for a lot of years. I mean, it feels like reality, it feels tangible, but I definitely wonder sometimes.”

Drake Issued A Warning To 21 Savage’s Enemies With A ‘Degrassi’ Clip Ahead Of Their ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’

Drake may or may not have started from the “bottom” (depending on your personal definition) but he never forgot his roots. The actor-turned-rapper shared an amusing reminder of his starting point, teen soap opera Degrassi: The Next Generation, on Instagram while promoting his upcoming It’s All A Blur Tour with 21 Savage.

In the clip, Drake (as his Degrassi character Jimmy Brooks) mimes pulling a gun out of his waistband and firing it. A caption added by Drake reads, “If anyone got beef with Savage on tour this how I’m coming be warned.” HipHopDX got a screencap, which you can see below.

We know Drake’s probably joking — for the record, that character spent the next four seasons in a wheelchair after getting shot in the back by a bullied boy in episode 8 of season 4 (a source of endless amusement for Drake haters online) — but he certainly seems to be psyched for the tour. The tour has already sold so many tickets — despite supposedly sky-high presale prices — that new dates were added to the schedule twice.

Drake continued the rollout this week with a teaser trailer as things kick off tonight in Chicago. In it, he reflects on his early days as an actor — including nearly bombing his audition for the show because he got high with kids at school.

Drake Remembers Getting High Before His ‘Degrassi’ Audition In A New Teaser Video For The ‘It’s All A Blur’ Tour

Tonight (July 5) is a big one for Drake and 21 Savage fans, as the rappers are set to kick off the joint It’s All A Blur Tour in Chicago. Before they take the stage, though, Drake shared a teaser video, in which he gets deep in thought while looking back at his life, specifically a moment before his audition for Degrassi: The Next Generation as a kid.

The video is just a black screen with white text captioning his words as he says over some minimal music:

“Someone asked me the other night what my biggest fear is, and I’ve never really had a good answer for it, but my answer was that all this is for nothing. Kind the idea that like, one day, life ends and it just all goes black, and I guess that question, like, sent me, you know, obviously deep into a spiral of thought. And it makes me think about my life and how surreal it feels at times.

I go back to this day when I was like 13 or 14. I had an audition for a TV show that ultimately shaped my life. And before my audition, I went to this kid’s house and um, I, out of, I guess, a desire to be accepted, I would succumb to peer pressure and I got high with these kids right before my audition.

Drake Showed Off Some Of The Minimalistic Merch From The ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’ With 21 Savage

Drake and 21 Savage kicked off the It’s All A Blur Tour last night (June 29) in Memphis. It’ll go through Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, Houston, and more major cities over the next few months, bringing their collaborative 2022 album Her Loss to stages.

It looks like Drake teased some merchandise on his Instagram Story. The photo only partially shows two black and neon yellow T-shirts with the text “It’s All A Blur Tour” over the heart. It also bears his signature OVO owl.

Meanwhile, Drake just published his new book Titles Ruin Everything: A Stream Of Consciousness, co-authored with Kenza Samir. Its reception was not great, especially New York Times bestselling author Hanif Abdurraqib’s review. “Some of these are so absurd that they’re actually funny,” he wrote. “But it’s hard to tell if he also understands that they’re bending into absurdist humor, and understands that there will be people who find it profound. Or if he’s convinced himself of the profundity. Really, it’s kind of just a book of puns. Silly lil’ jokes. It is a struggle for me to tell how in on the joke he is… I’m not personally offended by anything that masquerades as poetry, because it happens so often in every possible arena of entertainment and consumption, but this is essentially a coffee table book of one-line jokes.”

Drake Added A Dozen Shows To His Highly-Anticipated ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’ With 21 Savage

Drake and 21 Savage initially unveiled their It’s All A Blur Tour in March. There was a promise for an announcement of more shows at a later date. Four days later, 12 shows were added. And today, April 24, another dozen were added, including back-to-back performances at Scotiabank Arena in Drake’s hometown Toronto on October 5 and October 7. October’s Very Own will handle those closing dates without 21 Savage.

According to a press release, Drake and Savage will perform four shows at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center instead of three — same goes for the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California — and It’s All A Blur will now snake through new cities such as Charlotte, Denver, and Memphis. Instead of hitting Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Nashville, New Orleans and Miami between June 16 and July 2, those dates will now take place between September 14 and October 2.

Just as with the original It’s All A Blur tour announcement, there will be a Cash App presale. It begins this Wednesday, April 26 at noon local time and extends through Thursday, April 27, at 10 p.m. local time. Early access to tickets for the new dates will be granted to Cash App holders who submit the first nine digits of their Cash App Card.

Prices On Drake’s Concert Tickets On Ticketmaster Are Allegedly Being Gouged, According To A New Lawsuit

The Ticketmaster hate train just boarded another fan group, Drake fans. Although the live event and ticketing conglomerate is reportedly working on a transparency initiative to outline what fees patrons are paying for, that isn’t enough for the “Rich Flex” rapper’s fans.

According to the Toronto Star, the company is being accused of price gouging. To be more specific, in the newly filed class action lawsuit in the recording artist’s home country, Canada, prospective concertgoers are alleging that Ticketmaster is intentionally spiking the cost of his It’s All A Blur Tour. When the tour was initially announced, fans took to social media to share in their excitement of the moment. However, that all changed when ticket prices were revealed reaching into the thousands.

The suit filed by the law firm LPC Advocat Inc. on behalf of a Montreal man, documents that the name purchased two “Official Platinum” tickets at $789.54 each for the rapper’s July 14 show at the Bell Centre. Then after checking back the very next day those same tickets dropped about $350.

Inside of the document, LPC Advocat Inc. alleges Ticketmaster is “intentionally misleads consumers for their own financial gain.” Later in the suit, the firm notes, “The tickets advertised and sold as ‘Official Platinum’ are neither ‘premium tickets’ nor ‘some of the best seats in the house’ and are, in fact, just regular tickets sold by Ticketmaster at an artificially inflated premium in bad faith.”

Ticketmaster has not issued a public statement on the matter.

Drake and 21 Savage are preparing to perform (at least) 29 North American dates for their It’s All A Blur Tour, as announced by Drake via Instagram on Monday, March 13, after months of teasing his intent to tour in 2023. The stage had been set in November with the release of Drake and 21’s collaborative Her Loss, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and housed the top-10 Hot 100 hit “Spin Bout U.”

Wednesday’s Cash App presale also resulted in fans lamenting ticket prices reportedly running as high as $1,000.

The next presale is scheduled for Thursday, March 16, and is exclusive to those with an access code provided by Sprite, the official tour sponsor. The general public sale is scheduled for Friday, March 17, beginning at noon local time.
