Chief Keef Fires At Laura Ingraham’s Comments On Pot: ‘Somebody Tell This Tramp I Don’t Shoot Schools Up’

Chief Keef is known for many things, especially the popular line from the cult classic “Faneto,” where he references riding through New York and intending to shoot up New Jersey. However, the Chicago legend took to Twitter Wednesday to clarify that his alleged violent streak does not extend to schools after catching wind of a Fox News clip where Laura Ingraham links violence to marijuana use in the wake of the July 4 mass shooting in Illinois.

In a tweet, Keff posted a picture of the conservative television host with the caption “Somebody tell this TRAMP I don’t shoot schools up.” Back in early June, Ingraham was speaking about the unintended consequences of normalizing pot use and attempted to blame that on recent school shootings, as the suspects were known users. “Why aren’t people in general not talking more about the pot psychosis violent behavior connection?” she asks. She doubled down Tuesday and evidently, the 26-year-old had enough as her words literally hit close to home.

Chief Keef is a known user and advocate for marijuana, and like many who use it, he understandably did not take too kindly to such conclusions being drawn about the drug, especially in reference to the state he resides in. Though his choice of words in the tweet is quite humorous, the messaging is important. Besides, Ingraham provides zero evidence for her boisterous claim.

Doja Cat’s ‘Planet Her’ Earns Its Fifth Top 5 Hit On The Billboard Pop Airplay Chart

Doja Cat has racked up major accomplishments in her short time as an artist. This week, Billboard‘s Pop Airplay chart showed that “Get Into It (Yuh)” climbed from No. 7 to No. 5, making it her fifth track from her June 2021 album Planet Her to crack the top five of that list. The LP now joins a very elite company as just the seventh album to include at least five top ten hits.

This news comes just under a week after the 26-year-old was reported to have earned 22 new RIAA certifications spanning across her albums Planet Her, 2019’s Hot Pink and 2018’s Amala. This achievement allows her to stand alongside rap titan Nicki Minaj at 14 Platinum singles, the second-most ever for a female rapper, and just behind Cardi B, who has 17. Of the aforementioned 22 new certifications, “Say So” is now five-times Platinum and the SZA-assisted “Kiss Me More” is four-times Platinum.

These achievements continue to show that, despite previous controversies, hard work and good music can conquer all for the “Juicy” artist. Fans will have to wait to celebrate with her as she will miss her upcoming shows due to tonsil surgery, but this just leaves more time for more accomplishments before she’s back tearing up stages again.

Dr. Dre’s Lawyer Reveals Disney Tried To Sign Him After ‘The Chronic’

Dr. Dre was a hot commodity in the’90s, co-founding Death Row Records and being pivotal in the label releasing multiple multi-platinum albums, including his own debut The Chronic. While his story is well-documented, things could have played out very differently for the West Coast legend, as recently revealed by his lawyer Peter Paterno.

During a visit to Samson Shulman’s Connection Is Magic podcast, Paterno revealed that Disney was willing to throw him $4 million after The Chronic topped the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart and racked up two Hot 100 hits. Paterno, previously the president of Disney’s Hollywood Records from 1990 to 1993, said “We’d have these music meetings every week with Michael Eisner at Disney, and Michael Eisner came by and he sees the record’s at No. 1 and he goes, ‘I thought you had a relationship with this guy?’”

Upon digging further into Dre’s lyrical content — and the fact The Chronic‘s cover art featured a marijuana leaf — Eisner decided against pursuing the rapper-producer any further. In hindsight, Eisner likely regrets that move, as Dr. Dre went on to launch Aftermath Entertainment and release his successful solo album 2001 before earning space in the 2016 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction class alongside N.W.A.

Kodak Black Expresses His Support For Donald Trump Being President Forever: ‘Trump Just That GOAT’

There has been a lot of ironic, or unironic, support for Donald Trump ever since he left office in January 2021. Perhaps people miss his “funny” tweets, outlandish statements, or his actual presidency because Joe Biden has not been doing a great job. One person whose Trump support comes as no shock whatsoever is Kodak Black.

The “Lockjaw” artist shared a now-deleted video on Instagram on Tuesday, which found him sporting a “Trump 2024” hoodie in the midst of celebrating Independence Day. He doubled down on his attire, stating, “We need Trump in office forever, man. Just like how them Chinese and Russian and Korean muthaf***** they have their president. Trump the best thing for America — ya heard me — for sure. I respect that boy logic, setup and whole rundown even if he didn’t free me.” The final sentence is in reference to Donald Trump pardoning Kodak for falsifying information on federal forms to buy firearms, done on Trump’s last day in office

Kodak also claimed that if Trump were still in office, Brittney Griner, who is currently detained in Russia, would be home already. If that isn’t enough, the “Super Gremlin” rapper added “When you got muthaf***** office for only like four years, that ain’t enough time for a n**** to run they play and the shit they got to do. By the time they get done, another muthaf**** in office and he f*** sh** up. Man, give my dog a lil more time to do what he do for real.”

It will be interesting to see how Donald Trump fairs in the next election (should he even run), but one thing thats certain is he has Kodak Black’s vote. For life.

YNW Melly Won’t Get The Death Penalty If Convicted Of Murder

It has been a while since we last heard any updates on the still-upcoming YNW Melly murder trial, but a preliminary hearing today yielded at least some information. We now know, according to XXL, no matter what the outcome, Melly won’t see the death penalty. After hearing out both sides, the judge in the case decided that the death penalty would be off the table should Melly — real name Jamell Demons — be convicted of murdering his associates Chris Thomas and Anthony Williams.

Melly is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors say that he and fellow rapper Cortlen Henry shot both Thomas and Williams inside of a vehicle, then drove them to the Miramar Memorial Hospital, where they claimed they were shot in a drive-by on October 26 of 2018. After a four-month investigation, police arrested Demons and Bortlen in February 2019. Melly has remained in jail without bond since; Bortlen was released on bond in 2020 but was arrested again for a probation violation in April 2021. Melly was also denied an early release for a COVID-19 diagnosis.

Melly has since pled not guilty and the trial has been pushed back repeatedly as the defense and prosecution battle over what evidence to admit/omit and a contentious jury selection process. Melly’s mother posted about today’s ruling on Instagram, expressing thanks for the removal of the possibility of the harshest sentence.

Anderson .Paak Joins Prodigious Jazz-Hop Duo Domi & JD Beck On ‘Take A Chance’

The debut album from prodigious jazz and hip-hop duo of Domi & JD Beck, Not Tight, is due out on July 27. Signed to Anderson. Paak’s new Apeshit Records label, as well as the esteemed Blue Note Records, Domi & JD Beck‘s debut promises to be one of the year’s most exciting. The cast of featured guests is fairly ridiculous, with appearances on the album from Herbie Hancock, Snoop Dogg, Thundercat, Busta Rhymes, and Mac DeMarco. And of course, Paak himself will appear on two of the album’s tracks, including the song du jour, “Take A Chance.”

On this latest single, Beck’s already uncanny snare and Domi’s synth bass come in as Paak starts rapping like he’s in an intimate jazz club, spitting, “God won’t give me more than I can handle, rich but I can’t afford to have s scandal.” The comes in with a shimmering tone as the duo sings for the first time on record. Then as the song shifts into a compelling second movement, Domi’s keys guide Paak’s rhymes before Beck’s assault on the drums lay a canvas for Paak to sing hypnotically. Paak hasn’t come across this laser-focused and well… serious, in quite some time. It’s almost as if he’s reliving a part of his own story and rise to fame, through the eyes and talents of his protégés.

Paak also directed the playful video for “Take A Chance,” which sees the three artists taking a curious road trip, and features The Free Nationals. Watch it above.

Not Tight is out on 07/29 via Apeshit/Blue Note Records. Pre-order it here.

Cordae Compares His Albums And Thinks One Is Way Better Than The Other

With social media giving fans an avenue to tell artists exactly what we think about each of their projects (among other things), it’s easy to forget that it can work just as well the other way, with artists telling us what they think about their albums. Usually, this has a much more desirable effect, sparking engagement and offering insight into artists’ creative processes, such as the time(s) Jay-Z ranked all of his albums.

Despite only having two albums out, Cordae gave his honest opinion on them after comparing them during a recent road trip, including which was the best. While both The Lost Boy and From A Bird’s Eye View received mostly positive reviews, it’s hard to argue that his sophomore release was received quite as warmly by either fans or critics (for one thing, his debut was nominated for a Best Rap Album Grammy). As it turns out, Cordae seems to agree with their assessments.

“Yo so l just drove on a lil 4 hour road trip and listened to both my albums front to back,” he wrote on Twitter. “And f*ck I must say it’s most definitely “The Lost Boy > FABEV lmaooo. My bad y’all. Ima do better next time. I got sumn to prove.”

It’s pretty funny when artists admit that they could have come harder on a project after the fact. After all, in the olden days before we had social media, they could just ignore negative responses and start working on their new music. Now, though, we know that even top stars don’t always love their own work — although Cordae did have one request for his fans: “Keep streaming chronicles tho haha.”

Nick Cannon Laughs At A Claim That He Was Caught In Bed Wearing A Cheerleader Uniform With Kel Mitchell

Nick Cannon is no stranger to headlines. More times than not, they have to do with his growing list of children and his inability to put a lid on his cannon. It was just a few months ago that Kevin Hart gifted Nick a condom vending machine for Valentine’s Day due to the latter having so many kids — eight to be exact. With that being said, Nick’s latest headline appearance has nothing to do with his baby-making ways. Instead, it comes after Cannon was accused of being in bed with someone while wearing an interesting piece of clothing.

In a TikTok, Tyisha Hampton, who is the ex-wife of actor Kel Mitchell, known for his roles on the Nickelodeon shows All That and Keenan & Kel, claimed that she discovered Cannon wearing a cheerleader uniform in bed with Mitchell. Hampton said that Cannon did this with Mitchell to “cheer him up because he cheated on me.” After catching wind of her claim, Cannon could do nothing but laugh.

“Yep!! Probably had the Big ear of corn, a bunch of orange soda and a couple of kids choice awards up our ass too!” Cannon wrote with a slew of laughing emojis under an Instagram post that reshared Hampton’s initial video.

Murda Beatz Announces His New ‘Summer Anthem,’ ‘No Más,’ Featuring Quavo, J Balvin, Anitta, And Pharrell

As the weather warms up and music fans spend more time outside in the coming months, the prevailing sounds of our playlists look to shift from the chilly, downtempo mood music of autumn and winter to the upbeat, tropical styles that soundtrack poolside shindigs and rooftop day parties. Murda Beatz has announced his contribution to this trend, “No Más,” coming on July 8. The Canadian producer has enlisted his own “summer anthem” Avengers to assist with the vibe-setting, including Anitta, J Balvin, Pharrell, and Quavo.

In addition, the song will be accompanied by a video that follows the crew as they say, “F*ck it, let’s head to Miami,” which is, of course, one of the premier warm-weather destinations and the perfect visual companion to a song with so much Latin flavor. No doubt the new musical direction for the frequent Drake collaborator was at least partially inspired by one of his collaborators in particular; in addition to working on music together, Murda and Anitta recently went Instagram official as romantic partners.

“No Más” is out on 7/8 via Warner Records. Pre-save it here.
