Babyface Ray Looks To Take Over The Year’s Hottest Months With His New Album ‘Summer’s Mine’

Lots of artists have been hunting the title of “song/album of the summer” this year. Latto and Cardi B threw their hats in the ring with “Put It On The Floor Again” and Aminé and Kaytranada’s Kaytraminé is giving them plenty of claim on the album side.

But they’re going to have some new competition in the form of Detroit breakout artist Babyface Ray. Even though his last full-length project came out in November 2022, he’s already announced a follow-up. It’s appropriately called Summer’s Mine, and will arrive on July 21 — an even quicker turnaround than the one between 2022’s Face and its companion album, Mob. While the first dropped in January, the second came just 11 months later; this time, there’s only been an eight-month wait between new albums.

Summer’s Mine will arrive after Ray recently completed his Courtesy Of The Mob Tour with Veeze — who is becoming a breakout artist in his own right lately — and will feature 16 tracks including the previously released “All Star Team” and “Donda Bag.” The Motown rapper’s productivity has long been his calling card, so certainly expect yet another tour to accompany this project.

You can find more information about Babyface Ray’s upcoming album, Summer’s Mine here. The album is due on 7/21 via Wavy Gang/EMPIRE.

Gunna Snagged His First Top-10 Solo Song On The Hot 100 Chart Thanks To A Track From ‘A Gift And A Curse’

Much to the contentment of several notable rappers, Gunna is having a fantastic year thus far. Despite the calls to boycott his music, the rapper’s new album, A Gift And A Curse, continues to perform well. In fact, his single “F*kumean” has just snagged Gunna his very first solo top-10 entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Sandwiched between Taylor Swift’s songs “Cruel Summer” (at No. 7) and “Karma” featuring Ice Spice (at No. 9), Gunna’s “Fukumean” sits comfortably at No. 8 after climbing up four slots on the July 15 chart.

Gunna’s no stranger to the charts, with ten singles in the top 100 overall. However, on tracks “Drip Too Hard” with Lil Baby (peaked at no. 4), “Lemonade” with Internet Money, Don Toliver, and NAV (No. 7), and “Pushin P” with Future and Young Thug (also No. 7) has placed in the top 10.

For the bulk of the entertainer’s A Gift And A Curse album, he addressed the tension between his former friends, snitching allegations, and more. So, “Fukumean” was a breath of fresh air in which Gunna decided to return to his regular party/lifestyle storytelling. Ultimately, the thematic departure panned out.

A Gift And A Curse is out now via Young Stoner Life/300 Entertainment. Find more information here.

Cardi B Will Have Her Own ‘Super Mario’ Family Thanks To Princess Peach-Themed Invites For Kulture’s 5th Birthday

Cardi B is celebrating her daughter, Kulture, who turned five years old. In a sweet new Instagram post, she shared some tribute pictures and videos to her — along with a sweet caption.

The first photo in the slideshow is of Kulture recently, rocking a super adorable pink outfit, complete with a tutu. She also matches with a piano that she sits down at.

“My baby is five….Happy birthday to my pretty princess. It’s beautiful seeing my girl grow yet makes me a lil sad that my baby is not my little baby no more,” Cardi wrote. “light lil turn up today till the weekend.”

The specific turn up invites were Super Mario-themed, as Cardi also shared they looked like on Twitter. Pulling inspiration from the video game franchise, the invite sees Kulture dressed up as Princess Peach, with a swirly pink background.

“Noooo cause how cute is Kulture’s Birthday party invite !?” Cardi B also captioned.

On Cardi’s Instagram Story, the family went to celebrate at the American Dream Mall with decorations that were fit for a princess.

Fans are loving how special Cardi made Kulture’s big day yesterday. “Awww, can’t wait to see the decorations I know you snapped like always,” one fan commented.

“Such a great idea!!!” another added in the replies.

Lil Nas X Accidentally Shut Down Part Of A Norwegian Tunnel After Riding An E-Scooter Through It

Lil Nas X’s international adventures have been filled with interesting experiences. The “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” rapper was nearly hit with a “pocket p*ssy” sex toy during his performance at the 2023 Glastonbury Festival. However, that was nothing in comparison to nearly ending up in prison overseas after accidentally shutting down part of a Norwegian tunnel.

As reported by Rolling Stone, while sightseeing in the country’s capital, Lil Nas opted to travel via an e-scooter instead of a standard car. Apparently, that decision wasn’t the wisest as the scooters’ GPS systems were not equipped for the tunnel.

The Oslo police force issued a statement regarding the matter on Twitter, writing, “Four people on scooters have lost their way into the Fortress Tunnel. They have used large parts of the roadway, so the road traffic center has closed eastbound lanes until we can transport them out.”

Shortly after, the musician took to his Instagram Stories to share a photo inside of the tunnel, captioned, “About to go to jail in Norway.” But Lil Nas X quickly killed any suspense by sharing a flick with the officers that detained him with the line, “Nevermind they f*ck with my music.”

Usher Picked Winnie Harlow As The Next Celebrity To Serenade At His Vegas Show, But She Had Other Plans

Usher’s Las Vegas residency has drawn a lot of attention over the past several days. Namely, his schtick of pulling women out of the crowd to serenade them on stage has drawn plenty of scrutiny after one of those women, Keke Palmer, was criticized by her boyfriend for her wardrobe choices. This led to days of discourse, and perhaps inevitably, to excited anticipation of the next lucky lady — or potential backlash victim.

The latest is model Winnie Harlow, who attended the show with her boyfriend, NBA player Kyle Kuzma, over the weekend. She reposted a fan-recorded clip in which Usher began to mosey over but gave up on the approach as Harlow scooched over into Kuzma’s lap. She gave the post a jovial caption, which read: Figured out the secret to the Usher concert.. sit in your mans lap Mamas. He said ‘She Chose!!!’ Okayyyy”

The whole mess started last weekend, when a video of Palmer slow-dancing with Usher in a sheer dress went viral. Palmer’s partner (and child’s father), Darius Jackson, groused, “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom,” on Twitter, leading to such a backlash against him that he deleted his accounts (but not before doubling down on the criticism, whining, “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is.”)

Jackson reactivated his account later, thanking Elon Musk for allegedly helping him clean up his mentions. For her part, Keke seemed unfazed by his reaction, even going so far as to turn his commentary into merch.

Another woman whose Usher moment got some viral scrutiny was Bay Area rapper Saweetie, who appeared to be too stoned to do much more than smize at Usher while he serenaded her. Some fans criticized her perceived lack of enthusiasm, but it seemed pretty clear to others that she was too caught up in the moment to worry about how she was going to look online.

Drake Brushed Off A $10K Per Minute Fine For Breaking Curfew In Detroit For The ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’

Since the opening night of his It’s All A Blur Tour, Drake has apparently stoked beef with Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and people who have been throwing their phones on stage, and now, it looks like he’s going after city curfews. During the tour’s Detroit stop, Drake told the crowd he’d gone over curfew but that didn’t stop him from finishing out the show.

“It’s $10,000 a minute to stay in this building past curfew,” he said. “I don’t give a f**k. We’re doing this whole song, let’s go.” He continued performing for another 23 minutes, which has some outlets positing a $230,000 fine for the rapper. Interestingly, however, the Detroit Free Press noted the venue, Little Caesars Arena, does not have a curfew — although the city of Detroit itself recently established a curfew for minors due to recent shootings downtown. That could be what Drake’s referring to, or he could just have bad information — or, as speculated by the Free Press and HipHopDX, he might have just been bullsh*tting for the benefit of his loyal fans.

Drake’s tour will continue tonight at the TD Garden in Boston, where he’ll do two nights before returning to Canada for two-night homestand in Montreal, Quebec. We’ll see if he incurs anymore “curfew fines” as he keeps going.

Jamila Woods Announces Her New Album, ‘Water Made Us,’ With The Subtle Video For ‘Tiny Garden’

Four years removed from the release of her critically-hailed 2019 album Legacy! Legacy!, Jamila Woods has returned to announce its follow-up, Water Made Us, with the first video from the new album, “Tiny Garden.” The song, produced with Wynne Bennet and featuring Duendita, is described by Woods in the press release as “a song about the way my heart works, the slow and steady way I love.”

She also directed the video, her first time doing so, saying of her debut, “I wanted to create a visual representation of how I often feel in relationships — like I’m having huge feelings that I end up expressing in small specific ways.” “Tiny Garden” opens with a subtle, bubbly instrumental and flourishes into a full-bodied heartbeat — just like the sort of relationship being described in the lyrics.

Woods said of the upcoming album, “Water Made Us feels like the most personal and vulnerable piece of art I’ve ever made. I love creating from source material, diving deep into a subject, and extrapolating from what I discover… I hope it feels like a playlist that carries you through the life cycle of a relationship, whatever stage of the journey your heart may be in.”

Since her last album, Woods has released a slew of singles, including a cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” and “WYD” with Peter CottonTale.

Rihanna’s Striking New Lingerie Photos For Savage X Fenty Show Off Her Baby Bump (And More)

Billie Eilish recently deemed Rihanna ‘the hottest person to ever exist in the history of the world,’ and Savage X Fenty’s latest promotional campaign is all the proof you’ll need. To launch the company’s new Sheer X collection, the “Umbrella” singer stripped down to undies to serve as the ad’s model. In the sexy photos showing off her baby bump (and then some), the provocative images suggest that everything’s OK with the company since the announcement of her stepping down as CEO.

The mogul told Vogue she would turn the reins to Hillary Super in June. “It’s been beautiful to see our vision for Savage X Fenty impact the industry at such an incredible magnitude over the last five years,” Rihanna said. “This is just the beginning for us, and we’re going to continue to expand in ways that always connect with the consumer.”

However, based on the website link shared in the musician’s tweet, she might be hinting at a future name change. Since its inception, the company has been referenced to as Savage X Fenty, and its official domain reflected that. However, now once you visit the site, the link updates to savagex.com instead of its original savagexfenty.com.

Rihanna loves to bare it all in risque photo shoots, including her recent maternity images titled “Rub On Ya Titties.”

Nicki Minaj Is Blown Away By The ‘Barbie’ Movie (And By How ‘Strikingly Gorgeous’ Margot Robbie Looks In Person)

Nicki Minaj doesn’t act in the Barbie movie, but she did get involved by teaming up with Ice Spice for soundtrack cut “Barbie World.” So, she popped up at this past weekend’s premiere event, and the experience left her stunned, both about the quality of the movie and about how good-looking star Margot Robbie is in person.

Yesterday (July 10), Minaj shared a GIF of her and Robbie from the premiere and tweeted, “She’s strikingly gorgeous in person. Btw, the entire cast of this movie nailed it. The film is so visually stimulating. The actors can actually act, & the comedic timing is actually on time. Bravo. I’ll see it again & give my final analysis around the 21st. Will Ferrell, I[heart emoji]U.”

In a red carpet interview with ET, she also said, “I’m so excited to be here and be a part of this entire moment, and I’m glad that they thought of me, because I’m excited just like everybody else is excited to see this movie. […] I know, I’ve been saying Barbie my whole career, and so this a very full-circle moment for me.”

In a recent interview, Robbie spoke about Minaj’s soundtrack contribution, saying, “I was like, ‘Greta [Gerwig], how are we going to incorporate this song? We can’t do a Barbie movie and not have a nod to Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl.’ It has to be in there.’ And [Greta] was like, ‘Don’t worry, we’re going to find a cool way to incorporate it.’ And then, when she was like, ‘Guess who’s going to do the remix of Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl’? Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice.’ I was like, ‘Together? Are you joking?!’ I just knew immediately that all my girlfriends were going to lose their minds.”

Earthgang’s ‘Bobby Boucher’ Video Is Adam Sandler-Approved, And They Didn’t Even Have To Open Up A Can Of Whoop-Ass

The water sucks in the 1998’s film The Waterboy universe, but Earthgang’s present-day witty bars sure don’t. In fact, their latest video, for the single “Bobby Boucher,” just earned the Adam Sandler seal of approval, and they didn’t even have to open a can of whoop-ass to secure it.

The video, which Seales directed, brought the actor’s beloved movie back to life. Seales squeezed in the story’s most memorable moments in under four minutes, including a beer pong showdown, a high stake football game, and an overbearing mother.

Earthgang’s tribute to The Waterboy extended beyond its video. Their love for the film was also present in the song’s chorus as they rapped, “Luck be my lady, I’m up a couple thousand / Playin’ roulette like Bobby Boucher / Wa-wa-water on a Tuesday for all this D’Ussé / I surely feel like I’m drunk / I probably drink the Kool-Aid, that sh*t be packin’ a punch / It’s like a jab to the face, I’m probably not gettin’ enough.”

Earthgang devotes countless hours to producing over-the-top videos, as witness the ones for past songs like “Billi” and “Amen.” But for “Bobby Boucher,” their approach was much sharper, as they pulled from a fellow entertainer’s work.

Flattered by the creative nod, Sandler took to Twitter to return the love. “Yo, Earthgang! Singing along with you! Love, Bobby B,” tweeted the comedian.

WowGr8 of the group screenshot the compliment, then reposted it to their personal Instagram page, writing, “Holy sh*t. Holy sh*t. Holy sh*t. This is one of the best things that could happen for this video! EarthGang’s ‘Bobby Boucher’ video is out now! I can’t believe Adam Sandler saw this! I studied him intently for the treatment and execution of this video.”
