Philip “Daddae” Harvey, a founding member of the iconic British musical group Soul II Soul, has passed away at the age of 60. The news of his sudden death was shared on the group’s social media pages, with his family confirming the tragic event on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

In an emotional statement posted on Instagram, the Harvey family wrote: “The Harvey family are truly saddened to announce the passing of Philip ‘Daddae’ Harvey on the afternoon of Tuesday 10th September 2024. Philip leaves with us his love of family, his passion for music, and his excitement of finding joy in the simplest things.”

Soul II Soul, which Harvey helped form in 1988, became a defining force in the UK’s music scene with their blend of R&B, soul, and reggae. The group is best known for chart-topping hits such as “Keep On Movin’” and “Back to Life (However Do You Want Me),” both of which solidified their legacy in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Harvey was a multi-instrumentalist within the band, contributing on guitar, percussion, and keyboards, helping shape the unique sound that made Soul II Soul internationally renowned.

No cause of death has been revealed at this time, and Harvey’s passing has left the music world in mourning. Fans and fellow musicians alike have expressed their condolences, sharing memories of the joy and energy he brought to his music.

Harvey’s legacy, both as a musician and as a beloved family man, will be remembered by all who were touched by his passion for life and the creative spirit he embodied. The Harvey family asks for privacy during this difficult time, as they focus on supporting each other and cherishing the memories Philip leaves behind.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and loved ones.

First L’Gnar Now SZA Sound Off On Dangers of Galaxy Gas: “You tryna entice the kids on purpose?”

blueberrymangogalaxygas.jpg

WTF is Galaxy Gas and why is it seemingly being marketed to the youth? That’s a serious question many are starting to ask when it comes to the weird craze involving inhaling nitrous oxide. Of course this “trend” is being proliferated on none other than socials and easily sold in everyday online stores such as Amazon.

First, L’Gnar recently went viral when he chucked a can of Galaxy Gas into a dumpster in a sign that he thinks the product is as bad as it sounds.

Here’s L’Gnar’s post making his point …

But an even louder voice just sounded off on the perceived dangers of Galaxy Gas.

SZA recently is raising concerns and now more people are taking notice.

“Sorry to be old n annoying but.. Is no one gonna talk about how galaxy gas came out of nowhere and is being MASS marketed to black children?” she said.

SZA continued to criticize how the government appears to be doing nothing about this issue, stating, “Since when are we selling whip its at the store???? Somebody protect the children.”

SZA then posted a screenshot of the harmful side effects of nitrous oxide, which can lead to neurological and psychiatric damage.

She has a point. Period.

She also found the branding of Galaxy Gas troubling, pointing out its childlike designs and bright colors. “Something about the childlike designs and marketing is so spooky… stars and bright colors? You tryna entice the kids on purpose?” she asked.

Check out the canister. Weird a** marketing if you ask us.

blueberrymangogalaxygas.jpg

Some critics pushed back, if you can imagine that.

The say whippits have been around for years, SZA fired back and let em have it …

“Yes .. I’m aware whippits have been around since we were younger. GALAXY GAS however was founded in 2021 in metro Atlanta and is currently being marketed to CHILDREN.” She also highlighted that the product, with its childlike branding, is sold in popular stores like Walmart and gas stations. “Stop being dense and HELP THESE KIDS. Hell,” she emphasized.

WTF is the actual product, Galaxy Gas?

Galaxy Gas was founded in 2021 in Atlanta, so they are a new company. It markets itself as high-quality whipped cream chargers intended for culinary purposes, such as making foams and mousse.

Oh really?

However, the product has increasingly been misused for recreational purposes, with people inhaling the nitrous oxide to experience a brief high. The company has tried to distance itself from these uses, making it clear on their website that the product is intended solely for culinary purposes. Their disclaimer stresses that any use outside of food preparation is unlawful.

Like we said, the trend has gained traction on social media, with some rappers even appearing to participate in it. SMH!

But others are not here for the nonsense. As we said earlier, rapper Lil Gnar, has taken a stand. The Chief Keef collaborator tossed a Galaxy Gas canister into the trash. Yea, yea we already said it, but we’re saying it again in case you missed that part and his post.

This whole Galaxy Gas thing is wild. As if parents or susceptible children who are out there doing whatever don’t have enough to worry about in this violent world.

Despite the company’s attempts to limit the product’s use to food, its accessibility and child-targeted branding have made it a concerning issue for many, not just SZA and L’Gnar. So maybe we should all take notice and make it a point to take action. Just an idea.

Diddy’s Radio Airtime Takes Major Hit Amid Federal Investigation

Earlier this week, Diddy was arrested in New York City. Of course, the arrest didn’t exactly come out of the blue, as the mogul has faced countless damning allegations and lawsuits in recent months. He’s been hit with multiple charges and could face a maximum of life in prison if convicted. According to TMZ, however, his freedom isn’t the only thing that’s taken a major hit.

Sources connected to Audacy recently told the outlet that most of their stations stopped playing Diddy’s music earlier this year. This was shortly after the security footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie at a hotel in 2016 surfaced online. Now, the sources say that since his arrest, they’ve stopped playing his music entirely.

Many Radio Stations Stopped Playing Diddy’s Music Once Cassie Assault Footage Was Released, TMZ Reports

An iHeartRadio spokesperson also spoke with the outlet and explained that each station in their national syndication is different. While some stopped playing Diddy’s songs several months ago, others only stopped once the aforementioned footage of Cassie’s assault went public. A rep for 93.5 KDAY said they stopped playing Diddy’s music too, but failed to specify exactly why. Currently, Diddy is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His request for pre-trial release on bail was denied for a second time earlier this week, as the judge labeled him a potential flight risk.

“The government has proven the defendant is a danger,” U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter said. “The bail package is insufficient even on risk of flight.” His lawyer has since confirmed that he’s been placed on suicide watch per the facility’s protocol, but claims the mogul is “strong, healthy, confident and focused on his defense.” What do you think of Diddy getting less radio play following his arrest? Are you surprised by this or not? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Blu & Exile Reassert Themselves With “Love (the) Ominous World”

There aren’t many better than Blu & Exile when it comes to underground hip-hop tandems. Or is there really any above them? That is a question that you may want to pose to yourself after listening to their newest project. That’s right, this weekend, Blu & Exile are here with Love (the) Ominous World, their latest collaborative record as a group. This is their fourth one to be exact, and it’s their first since 2020’s Miles. Heading into this Friday, the multi-hyphenates had given fans two songs to chew on before dropping off the other 10.

The grand and celebratory closer “Love Is Blu”, and the head-nodding West Coast bop that is “Gold” led things off terrifically. Some of the songs on this album really see Blu at his most braggadocious. “Undisputed” is perhaps the most obvious one of the bunch, and it’s also one of the best here. On top of great rapping, Exile is also giving you quality in the instrumental department. From great disc scratching to bumping drum patterns and everything in between, he’s really giving you his peak self. Overall, it’s a fantastic return for Blu & Exile as a pairing and we highly encourage you give it a try.

Cardi B Gets Emotional As Star Brim Begins Prison Sentence: “This Is A Reset”

In March of this year, Cardi B’s close friend Star Brim was sentenced to time behind bars after pleading guilty to RICO charges. According to AllHipHop, her surrender date was previously July 1. In June, however, Judge George B. Daniels approved her request to delay her surrender. Reportedly, she wanted to be able to take her son to his first day of kindergarten.

Today, the time finally came for Star Brim to turn herself in. She’ll serve a sentence of one year and one day. She celebrated her final night of freedom for the foreseeable future alongside the “Enough” rapper, who went live on Instagram with some words of encouragement. Cardi referred to prison as “big girl school,” as Star Brim’s kids were nearby.

“This is a reset,” she began. “‘Cuz when she graduate from big girl school, it’s going to be a whole brand new everything.” Cardi continued, praising Star Brim for how much she’s grown and evolved in recent years. “It’s like we have grown up,” she explained. “You have became such a different person, and it’s just like, I really want people to hear her story and it’s so inspirational…”  At this point, she became emotional, telling her friend to “cut the camera.”

Star Brim proceeded to commend Cardi for her loyalty amid this process. “Cardi is never there for me when I want her,” she said. “But every single time I need this little b*tch, she’s there.” Cardi then promised to challenge herself in solidarity with Star Brim. “If she going to be uncomfortable, I’mma put myself in situations where I’m uncomfortable,” she vowed. Travis Scott Enters “Big Three” Of The Most Streamed Rappers On Spotify Of All Time

Travis Scott continues to be one of the biggest rappers on the planet, and his reach and success is starting to reach all-time legend status commercially. Moreover, per streaming metrics confirmed by Kworb, he surpassed Kanye West to become the third-most streamed rapper of all time on Spotify (if we’re not counting Bad Bunny…) and the ninth-most streamed artist from any genre on the platform. For those curious, Ye is at number ten on the all-time list with 48 billion streams and La Flame has 49 billion. Eminem lands at number seven on the all-time list with 51 billion total streams as the second-most streamed rapper on the platform.

To no one’s surprise, Drake is Spotify’s most streamed artist of all time at press time, and his 103 billion streams suggest that he will stay there for a long time. Back to Travis Scott, though: this huge streaming push probably saw a lot of assistance from his re-release of DAYS BEFORE RODEO, which landed on Spotify for the first time in history ten years after its initial release. The project was very successful, and actually might still have a shot at a No. 1 placement on the Billboard 200 thanks to a new sales surge.

Travis Scott Is Among The Top 3 Most Streamed Rappers Ever On Spotify

That whole chart debacle with Sabrina Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet might be the stuff of legend one day thanks to how juicy and contentious the tea was. Nevertheless, all success is relative, which means that Travis Scott should still be feeling amazing these days about his artistry and career. His South American tour as of late has been a hit as well, expanding his global reach more than it already had. For this and many other reasons, the Houston superstar will probably continue to dominate the numbers game and bring his fans some compelling work.

After all, Travis Scott has teased that he’s already cooking stuff up, and he’s teased that it won’t be long before he’s back with another project, album, single… Who knows? Either way, it’s exciting to see, especially considering how long fans had to wait for UTOPIA to finally manifest. Maybe its follow-up will be what turns him into the second-most streamed rapper of all time on Spotify…

Keke Palmer And SZA’s R-Rated Buddy Comedy Slated For Winter Release From Sony & TriStar

image

Winter cometh with laughs. Sony Pictures has set the release date for the upcoming untitled R-rated buddy comedy starring Keke Palmer and SZA, scheduled for January 24, 2025.

Deadline Hollywood was the first to report the film project, which comes from TriStar Pictures, is directed by Lawrence Lamont with a screenplay penned by Syreeta Singleton. Feels like a winning combination.

Get this, the film is the product of Sony’s CoCre lab, a collaboration with ColorCreative aimed at finding and nurturing new, diverse screenwriters. This is what the industry needs, so we’re here for it.

Now diving in, this initiative is designed to help these emerging talents develop and write their first feature films based on original concepts.

Okay, so addition to its lead stars Palmer and SZA, the film has a dope supporting cast, including Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, Joshua Neal, Aziza Scott, Patrick Cage, and Amin Joseph. Feels like the talent is stellar all around so has to be a goodie, right?

What’s more is the production is backed by some major industry players, including Issa Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi from Hoorae, Deniese Davis from ColorCreative, and Macro Film Studios’ Charles D. King, James Lopez, and Poppy Hanks. Singleton serves as co-producer, while Keke Palmer and Sharon Palmer take on executive producer roles. Macro Film Studios is also co-financing the project. A lot of heavy hitters here. That’s key to nurturing a great project from development to release.

Interestingly, the film’s release will coincide with several other anticipated titles, such as Flight Risk from Lionsgate, directed by Mel Gibson and starring Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Dockery, Angel Studios’ Brave the Dark, and IFC’s Inheritance, directed by Neil Burger and starring Phoebe Dynevor.

With its star studded cast and backing from prominent producers, the untitled comedy is generating excitement as it promises to bring a fresh, bold take to the big screen in 2025.

Despite Despicable Lies About Haitians Kodak Black Still Pulls Up To Trump Rally: “I’m a Trump supporter, but I’m Haitian”

image

When Trump and JD Vance spew hateful outright lies about Haitian immigrants living in lawfully in Springfield, Ohio, you would think most Haitian Americans would find that grossly offensive, right? Well, not if you’re Kodak Black apparently. The Trump supporting rapper recently attended a rally in Uniondale, New York, seemingly unfazed by Donald Trump’s past derogatory remarks about Haitians.

How surprising.

Kodak was spotted mingling with Trump supporters, taking pictures among a crowd holding anti-Kamala Harris and Tim Walz signs. A brief video of Kodak at the rally surfaced online, showing him smiling alongside a woman wearing a MAGA hat. Weird.

During his rally speech, which was more like rambling rant, as they usually are, Trump covered a range of topics, including immigration and border control, using inflammatory language to describe migrants. “I’ve been talking about [migrants] for five years now,” Trump said, according to CBS News. “I said if you let them in, it will be hell. They are vicious, violent criminals that are being let into our country.”

Get this, Kodak’s appearance at the rally came just days after he addressed Trump’s offensive comments about Haitian migrants. During a recent performance at Sexyy Red’s Columbus, Ohio, tour stop, Kodak played a recording of Trump’s comments, which included, “I’m angry about illegal Haitian migrants taking over Springfield, Ohio.” Unreal. What planet are we on?

Despite Trump’s disgusting remarks, Kodak voiced his continued support for the former president, telling the crowd, “That sht crazy. That sht true? Man, I ain’t gonna lie, homie, I’m a muthafking Trump supporter. I’m Haitian. How y’all feel about this election sht? I feel like we fked anyway. I ain’t with that Kamala Harris sht either. What the f**k going on in America?”

The controversy surrounding Trump’s rhetoric, Kodak appears to stand by his support for the politician, reflecting the complicated intersection of celebrity, politics, and personal loyalties.

That’s the great thing about America. The FREEDOM to choose your preferred candidate. Hopefully Kodak Black still has that freedom if Trump finds a way to shine on enough Americans and win back the Oval Office. Our money says not likely, in any event.
