Drew Brees Reveals His Next Venture

Drew Brees is officially a retired man as yesterday, he came out and announced that he would no longer be playing in the NFL. It’s a decision that many saw coming especially after the last few disappointing playoff campaigns. Regardless, Brees had a legendary career and there is no doubt that he will be a first-ballot Hall Of Famer when his eligibility comes around.

Today, Brees announced his next venture, which is one that should not be much of a surprise. Now, Brees will become an analyst for NBC Sports. He will be on the “Football Night In America” team and will also get to be a part of Super Bowl broadcasts, as well as the Olympics. He’ll even get to do some College Football work with Notre Dame.

“We’re excited to have Drew join our team,” NBC Sports Group chairman Pete Bevacqua said. “We know that Drew will apply the same work ethic and continuously positive attitude to everything he touches at NBC Sports and we know, as his new teammates, he’ll make us better.”

Most retired quarterbacks end up in the broadcast booth so this next step in his life only makes sense. Brees has a ton of experience that he will bring to the booth, and we can’t wait to see him on TV.

Nicki Minaj & Doja Cat Draw Comparisons On Twitter After Grammy Snub

Nicki Minaj didn’t perform at last night’s Grammy Awards. The rapper was not present at the event, having no affiliation with the ceremony whatsoever. Still, she’s trending after last night’s celebration of music as the Barbs speak out after years of snubs for the legendary ground-breaking rapper.

Back in November of last year, Nicki Minaj lashed out at the Recording Academy about her loss in the Best New Artist category in 2012, saying this on the anniversary of her record-breaking album Pink Friday. “Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade- went on to inspire a generation,” she complained. “They gave it to the white man Bon Iver.”

Last night, many believe that parallels have started to arise between Nicki and Doja Cat’s careers. Much like Nicki did numerous times in her career, Doja Cat had the charts on lock this past year. And while she was recognized by the Recording Academy, she ultimately left the 2021 Grammy Awards without a single win. Of course, she had her time to shine on the stage, delivering one of the most electrifying performances of the night. But still, fans of both artists have started to defend Doja Cat online, especially after she tweeted-and-deleted her praise for Nicki.

The industry is starting to treat Doja Cat like how they treat Nicki Minaj and I don’t like it,” argued one fan on Twitter, getting nearly five thousand likes. “She literally dominated all of 2020 and what did these b*tches pay her???? NOTHING.”

It’s a sentiment that many are feeling after Doja lost all of her categories last night.

Even though Nicki Minaj wasn’t there, she’s still being talked about, and that much speaks to her staying power in the music industry. The legend just keeps on powering through.

Do you think Doja Cat deserved to win last night? And is she getting the “Nicki Minaj treatment”?

Anderson .Paak & Bruno Mars’ Silk Sonic Grammy Performance: Watch

The Grammy Awards took place on Sunday night, and while the COVID-19 pandemic required a few adjustments to the ceremony, it went off without a hitch for the most part. And while it was certainly exciting to see who took home the big prizes — especially in the case of Nas, who received his first Grammy win for King’s Disease — some of the biggest highlights arrived by way of the performances.

Unsurprisingly, given the sheer level of actual musical talent possessed by both parties, the premiere performance of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s new band Silk Sonic was easily one of the ceremony’s strongest. Fully committed to enhancing the song’s nostalgic spirit, Bruno, .Paak, and a trio of committed backup singers harmonize as the leading men alternate turns as lead vocalist. While their prowess as musicians isn’t entirely spotlighted given the lack of acoustic instruments on stage, their presence still manages to feel larger-than-life — a testament to their showmanship.

Though the newfangled band has only recently released their first two songs — “Leave The Door Open” and the tone-setting “Silk Sonic Intro” — their chemistry both on and off-stage solidifies the impression that they’re kindred spirits. We can only hope that the return of concerts-as-they-were coincides with the release of their debut album, as you can already bet that Silk Sonic’s live performance experience will be something to behold. Check out their Grammy Award rendition of “Leave The Door Open” below.

Taysom Hill Signs Massive Voidable Contract Extension

Drew Brees announced his retirement from the NFL on Sunday night and it was a decision that many expected. Brees has been getting up there in age and his play has declined as a result. Overall, this was the best decision for him and the Saints, who are now looking towards the future. In fact, the team has two quarterbacks waiting in the wings, one of which being Taysom Hill, who is known for being a guy who can fill every position.

Yesterday, the Saints gave Hill a four-year, $140 million contract, which led to a massive uproar on Twitter. Of course, $35 million per year for a guy who is unproven is pretty ridiculous although as Adam Schefter pointed out, the deal is voidable which means it simply helps out the Saints cap in the short term. If Hill doesn’t live up to the extension, they can simply void it at any time.

These sneaky contracts have become popular as of late, so it should be no surprise that the Saints tried to do the same thing with Hill. Moving forward, Hill will have some heft expectations, especially now that he’ll have to compete with the likes of Jameis Winston.

Lil Baby Reacts To Meeting Jay-Z At Grammy Awards

Lil Baby is viewed as one of his generation’s greatest, with people predicting that he’ll fulfill a long-lasting career in the music and entertainment business. Considering the rapper started off on this path without much formal training in music, it’s a huge deal that he’s been able to become one of the biggest artists in the world.

On Sunday night, he made likely the loudest statement from the 2021 Grammy Awards, performing his protest song “The Bigger Picture” with Killer Mike and Tamika Mallory. Following the performance, the rapper was walking backstage when he noticed a familiar face, making sure that he got over his post-performance jitters to make an introduction.

“I met jay z,” proudly said Lil Baby on Twitter following his performance. “He let the security walk with bey an he walked by his self. Boss Sh*t.”

Jay-Z and Beyoncé were in attendance at the 2021 Grammy Awards, supporting Megan Thee Stallion as the rapper won her first-ever Grammy Awards last night. Beyoncé was also the unexpected center of attention for much of the evening as the camera continued to pan over to The Carters as they watched different performances and award-acceptance speeches. Bey ended up making some tremendous history last night, earning the most nominations that night and breaking the record for the most all-time Grammys won by a woman and by any artist, male or female, with 28.

Meeting Jay-Z would be a highlight in anybody’s life, but for Lil Baby, it certainly had an even deeper meaning. Maybe one day, we’ll see Baby make his first billion after closing a couple of major deals like we’ve been so proud to see Hov accomplish.

Anthony Edwards Wants LaMelo Ball Comparisons To Stop Immediately

Back in the Fall, Anthony Edwards was taken with the first overall pick in the draft, as the Minnesota Timberwolves felt like his position and skill set was best suited for their team. The Golden State Warriors needed a big man which led to the drafting of James Wiseman. From there, LaMelo Ball fell to third overall despite being the most talented player in the draft pool. So far, Melo has proven himself to be the best rookie this season, although Edwards and Wiseman have had respectable campaigns.

Recently, Edwards was asked about the LaMelo Ball comparisons and as one can imagine, he is pretty tired and fed up with them. In comments posted by Jon Krawczynski, Edwards urged journalists making any comparisons to stop what they’re doing immediately.

“Whoever is still talking about that, they can just kick rocks,” he said. After scoring 34 points against the Portland Trail Blazers, it’s very easy to see why Edwards would be feeling this way.

Ball, Edwards, and Wiseman are all their own players and it seems like there is room for all of them to thrive. While comparisons will always be made, it’s important to note that the T-Wolves drafted based on positional need which makes Edwards the right choice for them.
