A New Book Will Examine Tupac’s Life And Legacy, As Told By People Who Knew Him

At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, one of social media’s most prevalent tropes was people encouraging each other to use the quarantine to finish their respective projects such as books, albums, or other heavy works. As it happens, it appears plenty of authors did just that; not only are there two books about Mac Miller coming out in the next year or so, but there are also books coming from Questlove, Dave Grohl, and more. Today, Simon and Schuster made another book available for pre-order: Changes: An Oral History of Tupac Shakur by New Yorker writer Sheldon Pearce.

According to the promotional copy on the publisher’s website, Pearce interviewed “dozens” of people who knew Tupac in life, from the bold-faced marquee names to lesser-known individuals who interacted with the revolutionary rap icon. Pearce spoke to such individuals as Tupac’s high school drama teacher, one of his co-stars from a 1983 production of Raisin In The Sun, and one of his partners in a nonprofit devoted to nurturing young artists.

Changes is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of ‘Pac’s death in 1996, and well as what would have been his 50th year of life. It’s due June 8, 2021 via Simon & Schuster and you can pre-order it here.

Buddy Drops Off “Shit Don’t Feel Right”

One of the most buzzing series on TV right now is Godfather Of Harlem, a show that follows the tale of Bump Johnson in the 1960s. The star-studded cast includes Forest Whitaker, Luis Guzman, and plenty more but it’s the soundtrack for the show that’s been receiving some praise. So far, it’s boasted massive records with collaborations alongside DMX, Jim Jones, A$AP Ferg, Wale, and the list goes on. It seems like there’s no intention of slowing down the releases, either.

On Friday, Compton’s own Buddy unleashed a jazzy new single for the show titled, “Shit Don’t Feel Right.” The California MC narrates the anxieties of the street life in Harlem, even referencing the show’s protagonist. “You don’t wanna mess with Bumpy Johnson/ You don’t want to fuck around in Harlem,” he raps on the track.

Peep the song below.

Quotable Lyrics
Shut the fuck up, you’re all talk
N***a, we just my bosses
Don’t you know we crazy, we crazy, we crazy

Offset Splurges On Cardi B With Another Birkin Bag For Mother’s Day

Last Mother’s Day, Offset gave Cardi four Birkin bags and a multitude of boxes of preserved roses. This year he decided to go even bigger and better.

The Migos member took to Instagram to show off how he spoiled his wife for Mother’s Day. Cardi posed amongst over a dozen massive bouquets with a big smile on her face, upon receiving yet another brand new Birkin bag, this time in an orange hue.

Birkin’s are Offset’s signature gift so it seems, as he gives Cardi the infamous bag for almost every and any occasion. He even gifted his daughter one of the ten-thousand-dollar bags for her second birthday, which resulted in much criticism about the couple’s spending habits.

Each addition to Cardi’s Birkin collection validates her title of “Birkin Bag Bardi”, which she coined herself amidst a controversy about her changing the image of the bag by purchasing so many Birkins. During that same time, she posted a picture with 23 different Birkin bags, showing off her impressive assortment of colors as well as her zero-fucks-given attitude.

Despite all the commentary about past purchases (or perhaps in spite of it), Offset gave Cardi another bag, much to her delight.

Offset shared a heartfelt IG caption as well, writing to Cardi: “Happy Mother’s Day my beautiful wife You do a great job of raising our beautiful @kulturekiari the way you love your family is Gods work I’m blessed to have a real one.”

Cardi publicly showed her appreciation for her gift by posting an up-close video of the tangerine bag contrasting against her bright blue nails to her own Instagram story.

J. Cole Says He’s Made Peace With Retiring

J. Cole has always been ridiculously selective about who he decides to work with on his music. It’s been a running joke that the rapper continues to go platinum without any features on his albums. Despite his obvious aversion to diluting his craft by lending his bars to other people’s songs, J. Cole said during his freshly released documentary Applying Pressure: The Off-Season that he has accepted his upcoming retirement, telling the world that he wants to do more features before he steps out.

Back when he mysteriously hinted at his retirement following the release of his studio album The Fall Off, which is coming after The Off-Season, Cole had the world wondering when he would be hanging up his microphone. It’s still unclear when exactly Cole will be retiring but in his new documentary, he says that he is at peace with his decision.

“You wanna look back and be like, you didn’t work with nobody? You didn’t have no songs with nobody and you’re just cool with that? No? Okay, so start saying yes to some features,” said the rapper in the doc when discussing his legacy. “Similarly, it was like that with letting people know, The Off-Season, It’s A Boy, The Fall-Off is coming. Now that the possibility of not doing this shit seems real and I’m at peace with that, don’t have a regret.”

J. Cole’s new documentary launched earlier today and it has already been viewed nearly 500,000 times. In addition to his big week in music, J. Cole is also making his debut as a professional basketball player, signing with the Patriots in Rwanda over the weekend.

Stay tuned for J. Cole’s basketball debut and his new album this week!

Union x Air Jordan 4 “Desert Moss” Coming This Summer: First Look

Union has been a staple in the Los Angeles sneaker scene for a long time now…30 years to be exact. The boutique is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and once again, they are teaming up with Jordan Brand where they are about to deliver two more Air Jordan 4 colorways to the masses. There was a Union x Jordan 4 collab back in 2020 but now, two more offerings are on the way as part of the 30th birthday party festivities.

The first colorway to be revealed was the “Taupe Haze” model which mostly has muted colors that are a bit odd for an Air Jordan 4. Now, @Suave95654754 on Twitter is showing off the “Desert Moss” model which is just as odd, although much more eccentric overall. The shoe has a purple base all while the overlays have this yellow and green moss mixture which definitely helps the shoe live up to its name. There is a bit of turquoise on the tongue but aside from that, the yellow and purple are what truly make the shoe pop.

For now, it seems as though the “Desert Moss” and “Taupe Haze” models will be dropping in the summer although this is subject to change. Keep it locked to HNHH as we continue to bring you the latest from the world of sneakers.
