Coi Leray Says She Wants No Part Of The Female Rapper Competition: “I’m An Artist”

Coi Leray says she doesn’t want to be classified as a “female rapper” when it comes to “competition shit” and prefers to be considered an “artist.”

“I’m not a female rapper. I’m a artist. Leave that rap competition shit for the rappers. I just want to make good music and have a good time,” she tweeted, Friday morning.

She added: “It’s enough for everybody to eat. Get it how you live.”

Despite the designation change, Leray certainly shows love to female rappers. Earlier this week, she mentioned that Nicki Minaj is her new motivation.

“Nicki Minaj so bad,” she tweeted on Wednesday. “Nicki Pink Richard Mille is my new motivation for today. I can’t stop thinking about that damn watch.”

Minaj released her first album since 2018, Beam Me Up Scotty, on Friday.

Leray is in the midst of a major come-up. She was recently received one of the music industry’s biggest co-signs when Drake posted a picture from one of her performances on his Instagram story.

The 24-year-old, who celebrated her birthday on May 11th, recently teamed up with Pooh Shiesty for a cinematic new video for their song for “BIG PURR,” which you can find here.

Antonio Brown Faces Civil Lawsuit Over Moving Truck Fiasco

Antonio Brown faced a lot of troubles in 2019 and the early stages of 2020. One of those issues came from the assault of burglary with battery, burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and criminal mischief charges he received after reportedly roughing up a moving truck driver. Brown pleaded no contest to the charges and he was hit with probation and 100 hours of community service. While the incident happened over a year ago, the truck driver, Anton Tumanov, is now taking Brown to court in a civil suit.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Tumanov  “continues to suffer severe bodily injuries, pecuniary losses, and mental anguish” from the incident. As a result, he is seeking upwards of $75,000 as a way to make up for the damage that was caused.

At the time of the incident, Brown was refusing to pay $4000 for his services although that was eventually resolved. Now, Tumanov is claiming that Brown has yet to pay the $900 required to fix the moving truck, which was dented as a result of Brown’s actions. It’s also noted that Brown and his trainer roughed Tumanov up, which is what ultimately led to the “mental anguish.”

This is an ongoing case so stay tuned for updates as we will be sure to bring them to you.

Tyron Woodley Rips Jake Paul For Being A Culture Vulture

Jake Paul isn’t very well liked these days as he is always drumming up some sort of controversy in the world of boxing. Just last week, he got into a huge kerfuffle with the likes of Floyd Mayweather and at this point, there is a growing sense that Jake will get to fight against Mayweather in the near future. In the meantime, there are plenty of fighters who are pitching offers to Paul and one of those men is none other than UFC fighter Tyron Woodley.

Woodley was recently on TMZ Sports where he offered a scathing critique of Paul and what he does. Woodley firmly believes that Jake and his brother Logan are culture vultures who need to be shown a thing or two. Needless to say, Woodley is ready for war.

“They just culture vultures. Like he’ll vulch the juice from his own damn flesh and blood … My dogs don’t move like that,” Woodley said. “Come and get this smoke for real. I’m in and I can actually find him. People that keep talking about fighting him, they’re not even in position to fight him. I can actually fight him. I can fight him tomorrow if I want to.”

Paul has acknowledged Woodley in the past although it remains to be seen if a fight will actually get done. If it does happen, we will certainly be in for a treat.

Rosenberg Taps Method Man, Raekwon, & Willie The Kid On “Next Chamber”

Peter Rosenberg has been warming up to drop off his debut album, officially confirmed to be titled Real Late. And while the radio host slash hip-hop head isn’t spitting any bars on this one (he is, however, holding down the turntables in places), he’s certainly managed to curate a stellar lineup of emcees to bring his vision to life. Included among them are Westside Gunn, Flee Lord, Styles P, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Raekwon, Stove God Cooks, and many more.

Today, Rosenberg has come through to stage a mini Wu-Tang reunion, dropping off his new single “Next Chamber” with Method Man, Raekwon The Chef, and Willie The Kid. Over a grimy instrumental, all three parties proceed to put in serious bar-work — but is that not to be expected at this point? Speaking on the track, it’s clear that Rosenberg appreciates the Wu-Tang legacy, understanding the significance of staging a reunion between two Shaolin legends. ” “I can’t even put into words how excited I was to get an original song done with Method Man and Raekwon,” he explains. “The second I heard the beat for “Next Chamber” I knew I had a Wu banger.”

NBA Youngboy Flexes His Pearly Whites For New Song “White Teeth”

NBA Youngboy, who revealed that he ditched his iconic diamond grills earlier this year, has now released a single in honor of the decision, titled “White Teeth.”

The new track sees Youngboy flexing his pearly whites, his love life, and more. “Take out them diamonds and got white teeth/She fuckin’ with me, oh, she like me,” he raps in the chorus. Production for the song is credited to TayTayMadeIt.

Youngboy is currently behind bars at the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center in Louisiana after fleeing police in Los Angeles. He is facing a maximum sentence of ten years

Despite his current conditions, he still has new music for his fans to engage with. Check out his new single down below.

Quotable Lyrics:

I’m fresh as hell inside my white tee
Take out them diamonds and got white teeth
She fuckin’ with me, oh, she like me
She know that basic shit don’t excite me

Jorja Smith Spotlights South London Rapper Shaybo On Her New Track “Bussdown”

One of the most impressive releases this week is Jorja Smith’s in-between-albums project Be Right Back. As fans await her official sophomore album, the UK singer-songwriter blessed them with the sonically expansive body of work on Friday, which features previously the previously heard singles “Addicted” and “Gone” in addition to six new songs.

Similar to her debut album Lost & Found, Jorja’s new project is also practically devoid of features, save for one noteworthy performance from rising South London rapper Shaybo. Known to tout the self-proclaimed title of “Queen Of The South,” Shaybo has been steadily making a name for herself across the world with successful singles such as “Dobale,” “Streets,” and “Broke Boyz” with DreamDoll.

As seen in the picture above, Jorja Smith and Shaybo recently linked up to work on the Be Right Back standout cut “Bussdown.” The rap-sung collaboration is an infectious island-tinged track that really puts the spotlight on the South London newcomer by giving her three fiery verses.

Give “Bussdown” a listen and check out the car garage-themed music video for Jorja Smith and Shaybo’s new collaboration below.

Quotable Lyrics

If I go broke today, will you stay or leave?
I fell so hard, so deep, wore my heart upon my sleeve
Every word you say, I believe, so just call me Miss Naïve

Rowdy Rebel And A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s ‘9 Bridge’ Is A Cross-Borough Connection

Brooklyn rapper Rowdy Rebel links up with the Bronx’s own A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie on “9 Bridge,” a haunting banger of a cross-borough connection. A Boogie kicks things off with a rapid-fire verse before Rowdy comes in for a few bars of his own before giving it back to A Boogie for a melodic flow. They go back and forth a few times, showcasing the sort of two-man game that ’90s NBA highlight reels were made of.

The new single is a nice departure for Rowdy, who’s been embracing the drill wave ever since making it out of prison earlier this year. At the end of the GS9 rapper’s six-year sentence, he was recruited by Funkmaster Flex and Nav for “Jesse Owens,” then by CJ for the NYC Remix of “Whoopty” with French Montana. “9 Bridge” gives him a shot to show off his versatility as he continues on the comeback trail.

Meanwhile, A Boogie uses the song reset his 2021 after a few stumbling blocks in 2020 and his remix of Mooski’s TikTok hit “Track Star.” Hopefully, this refresh will lead to more new music with the same level of renewed energy — or even a joint album, because the give-and-go flows here are *chef’s kiss*.

Listen to Rowdy Rebel and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s “9 Bridge” above.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, & Drake’s Young Money Reunion: Fans React

Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Lil Wayne staged a Young Money reunion last night, uniting for the first time in years on “Seeing Green,” a new track off the Beam Me Up Scotty re-release. Given that many fans still hold the movement in high regard, the unexpected collaboration was met with a jubilant response — at least, once the streaming services came back to life, having crashed the moment Nicki and J. Cole’s new music landed.

Not only did “Seeing Green” bring a callback to a new era, but it also provided fans with the sort of track that has become all-too-uncommon in this era. Which is to say, a lengthy posse cut in which all three parties prioritize spitting bars above all else. And given the pedigree of lyricists involved, not to mention the healthy balance between camaraderie and competition, “Seeing Green” has already been seeing a wave of universal acclaim across social media — and that’s not even counting the Barbz, who will likely do their part in making sure Nicki’s comeback single charts accordingly.

Between an autotune-free Wayne declaring himself to be a “badonkadonk in bikini fiend,” Nicki bringing back her beloved “these bitches is my sons,” and Drake finding a creative way to equate a one-night-stand to leftover pizza, there’s plenty of gems to unpack throughout “Seeing Green.” Be sure to check out some of the early responses seen on social media, and we encourage you to share some of your own favorite bars in the comments below.

Lil Gnar Teams With Ski Mask The Slump God & Chief Keef For “New Bugatti”

Lil Gnar is back with a new single, “New Bugatti,” featuring Ski Mask The Slump God, Chief Keef & DJ Scheme.

The new track was first teased by Gnar back in June 2020 with a snippet on social media.

“New Bugatti” features boisterous bars referencing big spending on Teslas, Moncler coats, and of course, Bugattis. “My pistol electric, it light up like a Tesla/I got all the junkies on the block, I got a meth lab/Thirty-five hundred for the coat, that’s a Moncler,” Gnar raps on the chorus. The production, credited to Scheme and Nuri, is fast and hard-hitting.

We last heard from Gnar when he teamed up with Lil Skies for their single, “Not The Same,” which dropped back in April.

Gnar confirmed that a music video for the track will be releasing at 3:00 PM EST on Friday.

Quotable Lyrics:

Snatched a Hellcat, now that we doin’ the digits
Got a pink toe, she here doin’ my dishes
Gang gon’ stack the deads, that’s the only mission
