Mystery Woman In Handsy Drake Photo’s Identity Revealed

After winning the Artist of the Decade award at the Billboard Music Awards this weekend, Drake spent the following night celebrating with his family, friends, and team by renting out SoFi Stadium and dining on the 50-yard line. Shortly following his celebratory evening, photos of Drake and a mystery woman were plastered all over social media as people theorized that the Champagne Papi was hooking up with someone new.

As fans of the globally recognized artist hunted the depths of the internet to figure out the woman’s identity in the photo, who he was holding pretty intimately in the shot, The Shade Room confirms that her name is Luisa Duran and she has been part of Drake’s success for the last ten years.

The make-up artist and groomer has worked with Drake for the last decade, recently congratulating the artist on his big accomplishment this weekend. “Congratulations on artist of the decade,” she wrote, posting pictures of herself touching up Drizzy’s makeup during a dinner. “It’s been so amazing working with you these last 10 years. You are truly like a brother to me.”

Some people are confused about the make-up artist calling Drake her “brother” after posing with him so closely in the picture. “Umm you don’t hold your employee like that,” said one person in the comments. “My brother don’t hold my hips like that,” added another fan.

Luisa Duran has taken her account private after fans began bullying her and insulting her looks.

DJ Khaled Talks Uniting JAY-Z & Nas On “Sorry Not Sorry”

DJ Khaled’s “Sorry Not Sorry” has easily emerged as the most beloved song from his recent Khaled Khaled album, largely in part due to JAY-Z and Nas joining forces. A rare feat that has only happened a few times prior, it never fails to capture attention whenever the former rivals link up on wax.

Now, DJ Khaled sat down with People to explain how he managed to put the song together, describing the experience as a “dream come true.” He also notes that the process took years, as he ultimately lacked the courage to ask his pals to come together. Hard to believe, given Khaled’s larger-than-life personality, but such is the way he breaks it down.

“One day we were having dinner at Tao in L.A. and it was Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, Nas, JAY-Z, Puff Daddy and more people were there,” explains Khaled. “JAY-Z and Nas are my brothers, but that day, I saw them together just having the best conversations and it was all laughing, enjoying good energy and good vibes. So I’ve always been wanting to make this record. So I’d seen that and I said, ‘Man, I can pull this off.’”

“It took me I would say maybe four to five years to get the courage to ask,” he continues. “But I knew that day that it was possible because I felt the love. I asked both of them about working on this album. And they were like, ‘Let’s do it.’ The song is motivational and inspirational. That’s what I love about it the most because it’s 2021 and these are two of our biggest MCs ever to do it. They’re talking about motivation, inspiration, and where they’re at in their life.”

“I want people to hear that as a historic collaboration,” he continues. “It’s also inspiring to say, man, our leaders, they came from nothing and look where they are now. I think that was just beautiful. Not only to get them on the record but just the lyrics.”

50 Cent Calls Out STARZ: “This Sh*t Is A Mess”

50 Cent is probably one of the main reasons why people are subscribed to the STARZ network, executive producing so many of the top-rated shows on the platform. One of the brains behind the Power universe, including the multiple spin-off series that are currently in development, Fif has found no issue with calling out the network when they’re upset with him. He teased that he’s interested in leaving STARZ with a new post on Instagram, hinting that the end of his run may be near.

After accidentally leaking information about Patina Miller’s role in the upcoming Power Book III: Raising Kanan, 50 Cent spoke out and said that STARZ was upset with him for sharing a photo that hadn’t previously been posted online.

“STARZ is upset i posted @patinamiller,” wrote Fiddy with a face-palm emoji. “I didn’t know that picture wasn’t out, but i do know i have to build faster and get the f*ck outta here this shit is a mess.”

Many of the rap mogul’s fans are commenting and telling him that his shows are the only reason why they’re still subscribed to STARZ, meaning that the network is in for a shock when he ultimately decides that he’s had enough. Patina Miller also commented, saying, “What did i miss @50cent ??? Lol. Cant for everyone to see our show!!! Xoxo.”

With such a major role at STARZ, do you think 50 Cent teasing his departure will scare the network into going easier on him?

JAY-Z’s “Made In America” Festival Returns

Music festivals may have taken a considerable hit during the COVID-19 pandemic, but with vaccination efforts ramping up and re-opening measures steadily being implemented, many previously postponed events have already been confirmed for later this year. That includes the JAY-Z-curated Made In America, which is officially set to stage its return this coming September, on Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th.

Coming back to Philadelphia for the tenth year, the upcoming Made In America will benefit the ACLU of Pennsylvania, with some of the proceeds going toward The REFORM Alliance. If you’re unaware, the REFORM Alliance’s website details their mission statement as follows: “REFORM Alliance aims to transform probation and parole by changing laws, systems and culture to create real pathways to work and wellbeing.” You can learn more about the organization right here.

Lil Wayne Gives A Major Birthday Shoutout To Taylen Biggs

Being followed by any successful mainstream artist in the music industry is a flex, but as we all know, some follows come easier than others. Some artists, like Drake and Meek Mill, follow thousands of people while others, like J. Cole and Nicki Minaj, are much more exclusive with who they allow on their timeline and only follow hundreds of Instagram accounts. Then, there are artists like Eminem and Lil Wayne who typically don’t follow anyone.

That’s why it’s mind-blowing that eight-year-old model and philanthropist Taylen Biggs is the only person that Lil Wayne follows on Instagram, with Young Money APAA Sports being the only other account that he follows on the social media platform. In addition to having one of the best rappers of all time follow her, Taylen Biggs also received a major shoutout from Mr. Carter in honor of her eighth birthday.

On Tuesday, Lil Wayne posted Taylen Biggs’ birthday shoutout video with the caption, “Happy bday Lil Tay Slay,” but in contrast to his minimal, yet clever Burger King sourdough promotionthe Young Money founder had a lot to say about the young social media sensational.

“Happy birthday to the only person I follow on IG: the beautiful little Taylen Biggs,” Weezy says in the video. “I call her Lil Tay Slay, and if you follow me then you know every day a slay day. That’s why I had to get savage for you lil’ mama cuz you are the cutest little kitten on the catwalk for real.”

After promising to go bowling, bring her to the studio, and teach her how to skate, Lil Wayne presents his gift to her, which is a Tha Carter 3-inspired Pop! Funko figurine. He then says, “Again, happy B-day sweetheart. Every day is a slay day, and your true beauty if what you do for others. to be so aware of everything at such as young age is a beauty in itself. She’s eight now y’all, turn up!”

J. Cole Gives His Rwanda Patriots Teammates New Sneakers

While some Basketball Africa League players have expressed their discontent with J. Cole’s position in the newly formed league, Cole’s teammates on the Rwanda Patriots have a new reason to enjoy having him around. In a video shared to TikTok by basketball trainer Omar Khanani and reposted on TheShadeRoom, Cole gives his teammates boxes of new sneakers — presumably, his Puma RS-Dreamers — which they appreciatively try on.

The announcement that J. Cole would be playing professional hoops abroad sparked waves of excitement among his fans and brought plenty of eyes to the nascent league, a joint venture between the NBA and FIBA. However, Cole’s less-than-stellar debut — he scored three points in his first outing and just two in his most recent — prompted Morocco’s AS Sale star Terrell Stoglin, the team’s leading scorer and one of the top scorers in the league, to posit that Cole being there was “taking someone’s job.”

This is a pretty common sentiment among basketball players toward hoopers who underperform, so it’s not surprising to hear. However, Stoglin’s comments drew criticism from rapper Rick Ross, who admonished him in an Instagram video. “You should be there to support the brother,” he said. “If he made one point on the first game, by the time he get to the 10th, you should make sure he makin’ six a game.”

The Grammys Have Changed Their Rules About Album Of The Year Nominations

After an especially rough year when it came to criticism, The Recording Academy is changing a number of things about the Grammys. They recently announced some changes, including the elimination of “secret committees” that decide on award nominees (The Weeknd is still boycotting regardless). Now, in the newly published rules and guidelines for next year’s 64th Annual Grammy Awards, the Academy has unveiled a number of other changes, including a significant one for the Album Of The Year category.

The “Rule Updates” section of the new rules and guidelines document notes that at this year’s 63rd Grammys, the “award credited artists, features artists, songwriters, producers, mixers, engineers with 33% playing time of the album.” Next year, though, the “33% playing time rule” has been removed, which means that more people who were involved in making an Album Of The Year winner will be recognized as Grammy winners.

For example, if these new rules had been in effect for the 2021 Grammys, Bon Iver would have won an Album Of The Year Grammy, as they were featured on “Exile” from Taylor Swift’s Folklore. Another historical example: In 2014, Pharrell Williams, Julian Casablancas, and Panda Bear also would have gotten Album Of The Year trophies for their work on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories.

There are more changes than that for next year, including the establishment of two new categories: Best Global Music Performance and Best Música Urbana Album. Find the full revised rules and guidelines document here.
