Kanye West’s Hawaii Return Sparks “MBDTF” Nostalgia

Kanye West has been involved in so many different endeavors of late, it’s beginning to feel like his priorities have shifted away from music. Should that indeed be the case, it’s certainly understandable — Yeezy has built up one of hip-hop’s most impeccable discographies, with several classics under his belt. In fact, one such classic — 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy — is widely hailed as one of the greatest albums in modern history.

As many fans likely know, the majority of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was recorded in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he connected with no shortage of creatives and immersed himself in the process. Now, a new report from HipHopDX reveals a promising development, as gleaned from court documents pertaining to Ye’s ongoing legal battle against MyChannel.

According to the documents, Kanye has once again returned to Honolulu, Hawaii — hallowed grounds in the context of his career — where he has been holed up “recording an album.” While it’s unclear as to how much bearing locale might have on a project’s creation (that probably depends on the artist), it’s interesting to see that Kanye has moved away from his recent base in Wyoming, where he worked on the majority of his recent musical output including the critically acclaimed Surgical Summer run.

We’ll have to see how this one pans out, as at this moment, all we can really do is speculate. Perhaps Yeezy is looking to recapture the magic associated with his arguable magnum opus, released during a time of personal tumult in his life — not unlike what he’s been currently in the midst of experiencing, following a widely-publicized divorce from Kim Kardashian.

Keep an eye out for further intel on Kanye’s upcoming album, as well as any rappers traveling to Honolulu. Do you think this return bodes well for Ye’s upcoming body of work?

Asian Doll Reacts To King Von’s Alleged Baby Mama’s Maternity Pictures

King Von’s sister Kayla revealed that the family attended a baby shower for the late rapper’s alleged baby mama, who claims to be pregnant with his child. “Wish he was here 2 be with us,” said Kayla, revealing that they bought her a new car and house as her push present.

In the months following King Von’s passing, rapper Asian Doll has connected herself to the Chicago drill star, even going so far as to rename herself “Queen Von” on social media. She was romantically involved with the rapper during his life but they were broken up for a few months before his death, reuniting several days before his shooting according to a previous interview. Asian Doll saw the news about her ex-boyfriend’s baby on the way and she made sure to send a message to her followers on Twitter, telling them that she’s not bothered about him having a baby with another woman.

“I wasn’t with Von June, July, August, September or October I started back seeing him the end of November when he booked me for a show,” explained the Dallas-raised artist. “So nothing going on is affecting me in no way literally I still love him he not here & we was once deeply inlove so I’ll aways be here 4L.

Chris Paul & Devin Booker Swarmed By Suns Fans Upon Return To Phoenix

Last night was huge for the Phoenix Suns franchise as they knocked off the Denver Nuggets in order to make it to the Western Conference Finals. They are now just four wins away from the Finals and it’s something the franchise hasn’t experienced in quite a long time. Having said that, it only makes sense that the players are excited, and the fans even more so.

After winning Game 4 in Denver, the Suns immediately got on a flight back to Phoenix, where they will now get to rest up as they wait for the other series to come to an end. As the players were driven back to their destinations, fans took to the streets and gave the team a very warm welcome. As you can see in the clip below, Paul was greeted by MVP chants while players like Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton were also showered in praise.

It was truly an incredible sight to see and it’s nice to have a franchise like the Suns performing at a high level again. It’s good for the NBA when the small market teams are winning, and if the Suns make the Finals, the party in Phoenix is going to be even larger.

If you’re a Suns fan, this has got to be an exciting team, especially with so many talented young pieces that are locked in for the future.

Suns Locker Room Goes Full Party Mode After Nuggets Sweep

Ever since Steve Nash’s departure from Phoenix, the Suns have been one of those franchises who always seem to be at the bottom of the standings. For years they were consistently in the draft lottery which ultimately allowed them to get players like Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker. After acquiring Chris Paul in the offseason, the Suns immediately became a contender, and this season, they finished second in the Western Conference which came as a surprise to everyone.

Now, they are on their way to the Western Conference Finals and everyone on the team is ecstatic. In the clip below, you can see players like Ayton and Cam Payne living it up in the locker room as all of the other players celebrate their accomplishments. It seemed like a real party in there and they had every reason to be over the moon about what had just happened.

This Suns team will now face either the Jazz or the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference Finals. The Suns would have a great chance against either of these teams, and with Kyrie Irving out for the Nets, the Suns could very well be NBA title favorites if things continue to go their way.

J. Cole, Lil Tjay, & Bas Are Cooking Up New Collab

J. Cole’s The Off-Season is still going strong, with the Dreamville lyricist’s latest currently holding it down in the third position on the Billboard charts. Yet that doesn’t mean that Cole is about to rest on his laurels, reflecting on a job well done. In fact, Cole has already regrouped and lined up another endeavor, having connected with both Lil Tjay and Bas for a music video shoot in the Bronx.

Though little is known about the upcoming and unreleased collaboration, Tjay shared a few behind-the-scenes photos from the set. In one, he’s seen posted up alongside Bas and J. Cole, repping the Colorado Avalanche and keeping the longstanding tradition of rappers-wearing-hockey-jerseys-in-videos alive.

A brief video clip shares a glimpse of the production process, during which Bas, Cole, Tjay, and a gang of extras turn up underneath a bridge. On his own page, Bas shared a brief snippet of the song during a late-night drive. Predicting it to be the “song of the summer,” Bas highlights a fragment of Tjay’s verse, which finds the young New Yorker spitting melodic rhymes over a steel-drum fueled instrumental. Alas, the snippet cuts before J. Cole’s verse can really take off, though it sounds like he’s setting it up with a melodic introduction.

It’s unclear as to where the song will end up, but many have concluded that it’s destined for Bas’ next album. After all, Cole did tease that he was primed to go on an epic run, and what better way to embark on said run than with a summer smash? Look for more news on Bas, Cole, and Tjay’s upcoming banger in the near future.

Chanel West Coast Names Nicki Minaj As The Reason Her Young Money Deal Didn’t Work Out

Chanel West Coast is accomplishing some amazing things in her entertainment career these days, but her trajectory was left muddied after her mysterious split from Young Money. After being personally introduced to the crew by Lil Wayne, the Ridiculousness star stayed with Young Money under a management deal for a bit before parting ways from the label. For years, it has been rumored that Nicki Minaj didn’t want her involved with the business, which CWC confirmed during a 2019 interview. During her latest sit-down conversation with Shirley Ju for Shirley’s Temple, Chanel briefly spoke about what happened, affirming that Nicki was indeed the reason behind her leaving Young Money.

When Shirley carefully introduced the topic, Chanel inhaled some smoke before answering, “It didn’t work out because, basically, it was more because of certain people really not feeling me being part of the clique.” The interviewer mentioned Nicki Minaj’s name and Chanel confirmed that she was speaking about her. “Yeah, yeah, it was that,” she said. “But I don’t really wanna talk about that because it’s really old. I’m really grateful that Wayne fucked with me and gave me a co-sign and was like, be part of my clique, but yeah, I can’t control what happened. So many different politics that people don’t know behind the scenes.”

Chanel says that she really wanted to work further with Lil Wayne, revealing that her dog’s name is actually Weezy. However, things just didn’t work out in the end. Her response to the situation shows maturity and the ability to move on.

At the beginning of the interview, Chanel also spoke about how Tupac Shakur is the reason why she raps, naming her favorite song from the late legend. She also spoke about her first experience with Lil Wayne and what it was like opening for him in Arizona.

Watch the video interview below at the 7:14 mark for Chanel’s answer about Nicki Minaj.

A New Juice WRLD EP, ‘The Party Never Ends,’ Is Reportedly On The Way

Since Juice WRLD’s tragic passing in late 2019, there hasn’t been a shortage of new music from the late rapper. His first posthumous album, Legends Never Die, was released last summer, and now it looks like another new project is on the way.

In a recent interview, the rapper’s team declared that a new EP titled The Party Never Ends is on the way and that it will feature Lil Uzi Vert as well as “a few other big people.” Beyond that, they didn’t offer any additional info like a release date, approximate length, or song titles.

Even aside from Legends Never Die, there has been a bunch of new Juice WRLD material over the past year-plus since his passing. Just a few days ago, he popped up on new albums from Migos and Maroon 5. Other recent collaborators include Post Malone, Clever, The Kid Laroi, and Young Thug.

He never got in the studio with Kid Cudi, though, which Cudi recently lamented on Twitter, saying of Juice and DMX, “Im really am pissed and heartbroken I never got to link w these guys. X and Juice were real ones. Loved what they brought to the game. It was beautiful to witness.”

Lamar Odom Reveals What The Lakers Need To Do This Offseason

Lamar Odom was a two-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, so he knows what it takes to win a championship. Over the years, he has remained a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and he has always been supportive of the team, especially throughout LeBron James’ tenure in the city. While things looked good for the Lakers at the start of the year, injuries caught up to them, and eventually, they were ousted in the first round by the Phoenix Suns.

While speaking to TMZ, Odom noted that it hurt to see the Lakers have a tough time, although he is optimistic about their future. He even spoke about the team’s upcoming offseason and what they need to do in order to get back to the Finals.

“I was hurt when I watched them. They gotta get another guy who can play right alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis,” Odom said. “I mean, [James and Davis] probably is enough but we need them healthy but just in case if they’re not healthy. I think once the Lakers put another piece with those two guys, then they’ll be alright because they have enough supporting cast right now but I just think they need one more strong piece.”

Many fans have been echoing Odom’s sentiments as there are numerous teams who are building some phenomenal rosters. The Brooklyn Nets are among those teams and if the Lakers need to compete, they need a third star that can carry the load when LeBron and AD are off.

Lloyd Banks “The Course Of The Inevitable” Sales Are In

After eleven years, Lloyd Banks returned with his brand new studio album The Course Of The Inevitablereleased independently through Money By Any Means, INC. Largely keeping his rollout reserved to social media, counting down the days with spoken word trailers and tracklist reveals, it was evident that Banks was lining up a gift for the loyal fans.

When The Course Of The Inevitable dropped on June 4th, 2021, it shared the same release date as Lil Baby and Lil Durk’s The Voice Of The Heroes. Heavy competition from two of hip-hop’s biggest artists in the game, who went on to lock down the number one album on the Billboard charts with an impressive 158K in album-equivalent units.

Yet Banks’ project went on to capture the attention of some of hip-hop’s biggest names and most respected legends, with J. Cole, Travis Scott, Busta Rhymes, Raekwon, Conway The Machine, and Benny The Butcher having come forward to show support. Now, Banks’ first-week sales figures have arrived, with reports indicating that the album moved 12K album-equivalent units.

Given that the album was released independently, not to mention alongside a batch of Course Of The Inevitable merch, the numbers are actually rather solid for the Punchline King. Though his days at the charts may have faded — lest we forget that Banks used to be a commercial juggernaut in the early millennium, having debuted at number one with 433,00k albums sold in 2004.

Be sure to show some support to Banks and keep those COTI numbers running, as the album is genuinely one of the year’s most engaging listens — be sure to check out our full review right here
