Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci is in a tough spot right now. All year, the “Everyday We Lit” artist has faced an uphill battle against the feds, most recently surrendering to authorities on racketeering charges. He was awarded a few months of freedom when he was released from custody in February, being granted bond in a related murder case. Last month, he was locked up again, being denied bond on the first of June.
Speaking out for the first time since his most recent incarceration, YFN Lucci assured his fans that he’s in good spirits, maintaining his innocence as he sets out to beat this charge. He uploaded a text message to Instagram, thanking his supporters for holding him down.
“Thank you all for your prayers and continued support,” wrote the 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett. “I am still incarcerated right now but am maintaining my innocence. To all my fans who have continued to show love and support, I’ll have some new music and content on the way!”
The Atlanta native also shared a picture with his child, promising to come home soon. “Tough times dont last my n***a tough n***as do #FREEME #BEHOMESOONKID,” he wrote.

On “Chum,” Earl Sweatshirt famously rapped, “Too black for the white kids, and too white for the blacks,” and that bar from 2012 seems to accurately sum up an issue that Willow Smith dealt with while growing up. In her new exclusive interview with V Magazine, Willow offered insight into her Travis Barker-assisted single “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l” and the new territory that she’ll be exploring on her upcoming rock project.
“I’m so excited that I’m going to be having a song on the album with Avril Lavigne. She is so iconic,” the Ardipithecus artist tells the magazine. “From 13 to 16, she was my idol. It’s really nice to be able to have a quintessential pop-punk record with the pop-punk queen.”
However, Willow’s teenage love for genres like punk, rock, and metal also had its negatives aspects as well. According to Complex, Willow reveals that she was bullied in school for her alternative musical tastes.
“Being a Black woman in the metal crowd is very, very different on top of the pressures that the music industry puts on you,” Willow says. “Now, it’s like an added pressure of the metal culture, the metal world, and just rock in general. I used to get bullied in school for listening to Paramore and My Chemical Romance.”
“Just through the music that I’m putting out right now and the representation that I can bring to the mix,” she continues, “I just hope that the Black girls who are listening to my music and listening to this album see that there’s more of us out there. It’s a real thing, you’re not alone. You’re not the only Black girl who wishes she could flip her hair to the side, and wear black eyeliner, you know what I mean?”

Kanye West and supermodel Irina Shayk are reportedly dating, as confirmed by a report from TMZ. The rumored couple was spotted frolicking at a luxury boutique hotel in Provence, France for Kanye’s birthday this week, flying back to the States in a private plane together. According to the media outlet, they are “100% romantically together.”
The latest report regarding Kanye and Irina’s relationship status signals that they’ve been together for longer than the public has known, looking back to Kanye’s performance at DMX’s celebration of life as the first sign that he was rebounding from his divorce from Kim Kardashian.
Kanye and Irina have reportedly been seeing each other since as early as March. They previously hung out together in late April in New York City, jetting there for DMX’s celebration of life. The model was spotted wearing a YEEZY-designed Balenciaga tribute t-shirt for DMX before the piece was released to the general public, giving the first early hint that the two were dating.
Professionally, Irina and Kanye have some history. Kanye has name-dropped her on a few of his songs in addition to including her in some of his fashion shows. She also starred in the music video for “Power.”
This is the first time that Kanye or Kim have publicly dated anybody since their divorce. According to some insider sources, Kim is aware that her estranged husband is dating Irina Shayk and she doesn’t mind.

Highly conceptual to the point where repeat listens are basically necessary, Kendrick Lamar’s vision ensured that every song played a pivotal role in the character study. Even “Backseat Freestyle,” the project’s most in-your-face banger, develops the protagonist in an interesting and immersive way.
Recently, the track’s producer Hit-Boy sat down with HipHopDX for an interview, where he shared an interesting revelation about the history of “Backseat Freestyle.” “I actually did a couple sessions with Kendrick before, we did a couple ideas,” he reveals. “We went to Vegas for a few days, and locked into the studio. None of them songs ended up being in the mix.”
“He came back like ‘I need some more beats.’ That was in the batch of the beats I gave him…next thing I know, I’m out in Texas, he emailed me the song like we got one. I listened to it, I’m like this n***a spazzing for real.”
“I didn’t expect it, cause somebody recorded a song to that beat,” he continues. “Actually, Ciara recorded an r&b song to that beat. The song was called ‘Hit-Boy,’ so I was dumb hype on it, she’s saying my name! But that shit wasn’t supposed to go down.”

All eyes are on Migos. The superstar rap trio is less than 24 hours away from dropping their long-awaited fourth studio album Culture III, and after a polarizing onslaught of solo albums from Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset following Culture II, a lot is riding on Migos’ forthcoming project.

Atlanta rapper Lil Gotit has officially released his new studio album Top Chef Gotit, featuring Young Thug, Gunna, NAV, Lil Keed, and more. The project has been in the works for the last few months, dropping on Thursday morning to early critical acclaim.
The self-proclaimed “Hood Baby” is back with new music, shining bright on “Playa Chanel” with Young Thug. While he’s not an official member of the YSL Records roster, Lil Gotit has been around the clique for years, working closely with several artists on the roster, including Gunna and his brother Lil Keed. On “Playa Chanel,” Gotit collaborates with the leader of the pack, King Slime himself. The record was produced by Supah Mario and Luca Starz.

The arrival of Culture 3, a low-key high-stakes project for the Atlanta trifecta, is set to go down at the stroke of midnight. Having unveiled the tracklist, which includes features appearances Drake, Future, Cardi B, Juice WRLD, Pop Smoke, and more, many have been curious to see how Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff bounce back.
Having promised a “return to the bando,” at least stylistically speaking, it certainly seems as if Migos are focused on this go-around. The narrative is furthered by the release of their new single “Avalanche,” a smooth drop that once again finds all three members spitting solid verses with little time for catchy hooks. It’s especially welcome to see Quavo leading by example, coming through with another strong performance after “Straightenin.” Should he be rapping at this caliber throughout the entirety of Culture 3, fans should be in for an enjoyable ride.

You’ve got to think that the higher-ups at STARZ are peeved about Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s constant criticism of the network. Considering he’s such a major part of the network’s success in recent years with the Power universe and his other television projects, one would expect Fif to filter himself when it comes to shredding his bosses online. In the last few weeks though, he’s come after his employers on a few separate occasions, most recently joking about a scene on Run The World that featured laughable continuity editing.
Video editors know to look for continuity issues in the mise-en-scene when they’re piecing together the puzzle behind the boards but on the latest episode of Run The World, 50 Cent quickly noticed something was off when one of the characters had disappearing earrings during a scene.
Ella McFair, portrayed by Andrea Bordeaux, was walking down the block with her boyfriend when 50 Cent pointed out that, at times, she appears with large gold earrings and at others, they’re completely missing from the scene. This is a pretty big blunder from the editing team and while the lead editor likely already got a stern speaking-to, Fiddy wanted to voice his own frustrations with the network, possibly leveraging himself for an even more prestigious position.
“STARZ needs me! It don’t come out right when I’m not involved,” said the executive producer of Power, speaking over the scene. “EARRINGs, No Earrings EARRINGs, No Earrings, No Earrings EARRINGS. LMAO,” he added in his caption.
