Wale Announces ‘Folarin 2’ While Labeling Himself As ‘One Of The Greatest Of All Time’

Back in 2012, Wale released his eighth mixtape, Folarin, which would go on to be one of the better releases from hip-hop’s mixtape era. It was also an impressive effort in the rapper’s discography and nearly a decade later, Wale has announced its sequel is on the way. He shared the news on Twitter, along with a pretty big boast. “I understand you may feel how you feel for whatever soembody told you…but I just wanna reiterate that I’m one of the greatest of all time,” he wrote. “Catalog. Consistency. Influence. Longevity. DMV. With that said “#Folarin2” this summer.”

The arrival of Folarin 2 should be no more than a couple of months away. Recently he’s shared several singles, including “Good Vibes,” “Flawed” with Gunna, and “Lions, Bengals, & Bears” with DJ Money. Folarin 2 would also be his first project since his 2020 EP, The Imperfect Storm, and his first full-length effort since 2019’s Wow… That’s Crazy, an album that posted highlight tracks like “On Chill,” “Sue Me,” and “Love (Her Fault)” with Bryson Tiller. Prior to the announcement, Wale joined Coi Leray for a remix of Earthgang’s “Options.”

Wale is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

LeBron James Taps Drake Lyrics To Remind Critics Of King Status

This NBA season has been fraught with unexpected twists and turns, especially concerning the health of some of our favorite players. Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, and several others have been sidelined due to injuries, and recently, LeBron James took to Twitter to air out a few frustrations with the league. According to the Los Angeles Lakers icon, officials ignored his concerns.

“They all didn’t wanna listen to me about the start of the season,” said James last week. “I knew exactly what would happen. I only wanted to protect the well being of the players which ultimately is the PRODUCT & BENEFIT of OUR GAME! These injuries isn’t just ‘PART OF THE GAME’.”

James returned with an enigmatic message earlier today (June 22) that many believe was another take about not being listened to, albeit it came in the form of Drake lyrics. It looks as if Bron tapped Drizzy’s “30 For 30 Freestyle” to help him share a few thoughts: “Never thought I’d be talkin’ from this perspective / But I’m not really sure what else you expected / When the higher-ups have all come together as a collective / With conspiracies to end my run and send me a message.

He completed his most recent tweet with a few crown-centered emojis to remind everyone who King James is. Meanwhile, NBA injuries and Ben Simmons’s performance have been the talk of the league over the last few days, but as we move forward, it’ll be interesting to see if officials publicly respond to James’s complaints.

Ludacris Reveals That He’s Working Towards Getting HIs Pilot’s License

Ludacris impressed his fans and the internet at large when a video of him flying a plane hit the web. Though he’s a skilled MC and an accomplished actor, Ludacris has never really been seen as a pilot. The Internet ran with the narrative that Ludacris was a fully licensed and able to fly planes on his own.

That’s not the case. The rapper appeared on Ellen where he cleared the air on the viral clip of him holding it down in the cockpit. “The internet just ran with the fact that I have an official pilot’s license when they saw this video. I never said that, but who am I to correct the internet? The internet believes what they want to believe,” he said after clarifying that he was “just as shocked as everyone else.”

In all actuality, that was his first time ever driving a plane but that’s not to say he isn’t working towards it. “I actually own a plane, but for all of these years, I’ve never wanted to become a pilot, because you can’t drink alcohol within eight hours of flying,” he continued. “Who would want to go on a vacation and not drink before they leave? … Long story short, that’s the first of many, but I do plan to get my pilot’s license soon. It’s a work in progress, it takes some time.”

Regardless, it’s a pretty impressive feat to become a fully licensed pilot. Check out the clip below.

“Verzuz” Addresses Toni Braxton & Mary J. Blige Appearance Rumors

This weekend, the back and forth trolling between Soulja Boy and Bow Wow will come to a head on Verzuz. The longtime friends have been playfully bantering for weeks as they’ve taken personal punches on social media, causing some fans to believe that they really were beefing. After Bow cleared the air, the rappers returned to blasting one another’s career and increasing the hype surrounding their Verzuz matchup this Saturday.

Meanwhile, rumors have been floating about stating that the next big pairing will come from R&B legends Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton, and one fan took their questions to the powers that be.

“So… is there any truth behind this @tonibraxton & @maryjblige @verzuzonline happening on July 4th? I need answers! #ToniBraxton #MaryJBlige #VERZUZ,” the Twitter user wrote. Verzuz chimed in to lay the rumors to rest once and for all.

“We love both ladies, but this is not a confirmed #VERZUZ event,” they replied. “Please stay tuned for upcoming announcements on our future shows.” When Verzuz announced their latest set of performers, they did have a mysterious, blurred-out portion for July 1. It looks as if fans are attempting to figure out who it may be, so leave your guesses after checking out the posts below.

Polo G Debuts 11 Songs On The Billboard Hot 100 This Week

The release of Polo G’s Hall Of Fame was a warm welcome for a new star in the game. The highly-anticipated album from the Chicago rapper arrived just after his first #1 record with “RAPSTAR,” the lead single off of the project. The album followed a similar path with its trajectory on the Billboard 200. Released on the same day as Migos’ Culture III, which he appears on, Polo G outsold the hit-making Atlanta trio in a race for #1 on the charts.

Even though Polo G might not be interested in celebrating any feat on the Billboard charts, it’s safe to say that his latest project has produced some big hits. Half of the songs on the 20-track project have debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Plus, his collaboration alongside Migos on Culture III on the banger, “Malibu” also secured a position on the chart.

“Bloody Canvas” sits the lowest on the chart at #97 while”Party Lyfe” ft. DaBaby and “Go Part 1” ft. G Herbo sit at #85 and #86, respectively. His collaboration with Migos on “Malibu” sits at #67. The highest-charting song from the project is “No Return” ft. The Kid Laroi and Lil Durk and holds the #26 position on the chart.

Check out all of the records that Polo G debuted off of his new project Hall Of Fame below. What’s your favorite track off of the project?

Pooh Shiesty Posts His Prison Address Online For Fan Mail

Pooh Shiesty was recently honored as a member of XXL Magazine’s 2021 Freshman class. Unfortunately for the rapper, his recent legal troubles forced him to celebrate the accomplishment from behind bars. We previously reported that the Memphis rapper was arrested earlier this month for allegedly shooting a security guard outside of King of Diamonds nightclub in Miami.

He was subsequently charged with aggravated battery and was initially granted a $10k bond, although it was revoked due to another shooting he was allegedly involved in back in October of 2020. The King of Diamonds security guard Frivin Dor later recanted his statement but, despite this, Pooh Shiesty will remain behind bars until his preliminary hearing on July 22nd. In the meantime, the “Back in Blood” rapper is opening up his prison mailbox for some fan mail.

Taking to Instagram on Monday (June 22) to share the address in his story over a green-screen, the address read “Lontrell Williams #210138765 k82 Turner Guilford Night Correctional Center 7000 NW 41st St Miami, FL 33166,” using his government name.

“I’ma start getting his care package ready tomorrow,” joked one fan on social media. Another added, “Lemme make sure my boo got some oatmeal cream pies,” joked another. Another added, “Bye, should’ve wrote me when I wrote you in ya dms, tables turn, huh.”

While some fans took the opportunity to joke, it’s likely Pooh will definitely receive a healthy amount of kind words and care packages from fans nonetheless.

HoneyKomb Brazy Faces Parole Violation Accusations Over Music Video

HoneyKomb Brazy remains in the news due to a steady stream of legal-facing issues. The latest one stems from the release of the Alabama rapper’s music video for his single “Dead People,” featuring J. Prince. He is being accused of violating his parole with the music video, for illegal gun possession, as well as possession of marijuana.

HoneyKomb Brazy appeared in court on Wednesday, June 16th to answer to the charges brought against him, and he plead not guilty. He was first arrested in May on an outstanding warrant related to parole violations that stemmed from a shootout between his group and a rival group. There’s allegedly video evidence that shows Brazy brandishing a gun and shooting at a competitor crew in front of a Montgomery barbershop, while the rapper’s grandparents’ tragic death earlier this year also appears to have stemmed from some sort of rival shooting.

As far as the latest parole violation accusations, on top of using music videos as evidence, prosecutors also showed social media images of the rapper with what appeared to be guns. Nonetheless, HoneyKomb’s stepmother and business manager testified that the weapons were props, and thus was the defense. The music video producer, Reshad McCall, validated Brazy’s stepmother’s testimony as well.

“We prop everything. … We’re strict on that. We control everything, I personally ordered them. I’ve got receipts for them,” he added to her story.

The rapper’s attorney, Jeff Deen, also spoke to Fox10News following the court hearing, stating, “It comes with the industry. It’s shocking to some of us, but that’s how they make their money. And it’s a very lucrative market, and this young man has a lot of talent. He’s a go-getter.”

The judge has yet to rule on revoking HoneyKomb Brazy’s probation.

Check out the music video for the record in question below. We’ll keep you posted on HoneyKomb Brazy’s case.
