DaBaby’s Homophobic Comments Led To The Cancellation Of An Entire Music Festival In Colorado

DaBaby’s bizarre comments from last month’s Rolling Loud festival in Miami have resulted is heavy damage to his career. The rapper has received plenty of criticism from his peers, and while he offered an apology, it was too little too late. Just a week after the Miami festival, the North Carolina native was removed from Lollapalooza’s 2021 festival lineup. Others followed suit, including Governors Ball, Day N Vegas, and Austin City Limits, but none did what a Colorado festival was forced to do on Thursday.

According to 9 News, organizers behind Denver’s KS 107.5 Summer Jam were extremely disappointed by DaBaby’s homophobic comments, and as a result, they were forced to make a tough decision. “In light of various factors, including DaBaby’s recent comments, along with our concert partners, we have chosen to cancel this year’s Summer Jam,” a statement from the festival read. “We look forward to working on Summer Jam lineups for years to come with our love of music and each other.”

While many are still frustrated with DaBaby’s comments, some are looking to educate the rapper about his faults. In an Instagram post, Miley Cyrus tagged him and said she “would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other.” The singer also asked fans to “find forgiveness and compassion.”

Tory Lanez Rejects Idea That He’s Been Blackballed By Streaming Platforms

As some Hip Hop fans await news about his ongoing case with Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez has been pushing forward. The multihyphenate artist has continued to amass success despite the accusations that he is responsible for shooting Megan in the foot in July 2020. An immediate scandal followed, but Lanez has repeatedly denied that he is culpable for Megan’s injuries.

Fans have speculated about the incident for over a year, and while the controversy haunts Lanez, he has made new business moves, including making his music available as NFTs. A Twitter user called him out, saying he’s making the public “do the most to just listen to music.”

The person also alleged that Lanez’s NFT “isn’t gunna go high up in value” and accused the singer of pulling a “get rich quick thing” because he has been “black balled on streaming platforms.” Lanez decided to respond, rejecting the idea.

“I’m not blackballed from anything …. to put this in perspective for u,” he tweeted. “My last NFT had 700 copy’s .. it’s sold for 700 dollars and quickly sold out …. by the time the week was over it was re selling for 34,000 $ …. this NFT space is extremely different !!! #ENFT.” Back in March, Lanez fired off messages suggesting that he was being censored from editorial playlists and platforms.

“As an independent artist … and as a BLACK BUSINESS .. I ACTIVELY still make the platforms money with my music,” he wrote at the time. “So it should NOT BE RIGHT .. for any platform to CENSOR AND SILENCE ME FROM THE EDITORIAL PLAYLIST OR HOME PAGES OF THESE PLATFORMS THAT HELP TO GIVE EYE BALLS TO YOUNG ARTIST … I’ve stayed cool for the last 2 projects … BUT THIS IS JUST NOT FAIR .”

Kendall Jenner Sued For $1.8Mil By Fashion Brand Who Claims She Breached Contract

On the heels of her big sister Kim Kardashian receiving a cease and desist from a company that has accused her of stealing its “SKKN” brand name, Kendall Jenner is facing a massive lawsuit. The Kardashian-Jenners are some of the most sought-after celebrities in the industry and brands clamor to have any of the reality mogul sisters in their campaigns, runways shows, magazines, and the like. According to reports, 25-year-old model Kendall has been sued by Italian fashion brand Liu Jo after they claim she skipped out on a photoshoot.

Reports state that Liu Jo says Jenner was scheduled to pose for two shoots but didn’t show up for the second. For her participation, Liu Jo reportedly paid Kendal $1.5 million “plus a 20 percent service fee,” says E! News.

The first shoot took place back in the summer of 2019 and six months later, Jenner reportedly already received $1.35 million of her fee. The second shoot was understandably derailed due to COVID-19 and the quarantine, and Liu Jo claims that when they continued to reach out to Jenner to reschedule, she “ceased responding to” them. She reportedly only paid attention once they accused her of being in breach of contract.

“This suit is without merit. The Society Management, on behalf of Ms. Kendall Jenner, has continually offered Liu Jo alternative dates and locations to fulfill an agreement that was forced to be delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic,” a representative said in response to the suit. “Jenner has willingly offered to complete services honoring her commitments.”

Liu Jo’s lawsuit also states the Jenner has been traveling for other work obligations, including modeling for another designer in Italy. Because they believe she did not honor the contract, Liu Jo is seeking $1.8 million in damages.

Aaliyah’s Estate Calls Out Uncle After Announcement About Release Of Catalog

It seems as if each year fans get themselves all hype up to finally receive Aaliyah’s catalog on streaming services. Aaliyah was just 22-years-old when she died in a plane crash in the Bahamas right at the cusp of a shift in her career, and in the decades that have followed, her fans have begged for her catalog to be shared. The rights to Aaliyah’s music is reportedly in the hands of her uncle Barry Hankerson, and although there have been promises of music being released on anniversaries or birthdays of the late singer, we’ve come up empty-handed.

Hankerson has recently announced that he’s launching a new record label and earlier today (August 4), his first artist hinted that Aaliyah’s music is on the way. Some believe that this is a shady move to help promote his new business venture and Aaliyah’s estate has released a statement about this latest revelation.

Protecting Aaliyah’s legacy is, and will always be, our focus,” they wrote. “For 20 years we have battled behind the scenes, enduring shadowy tactics of deception with unauthorized projects targeted to tarnish. We have always been confused as to why there is such as tenacity in causing more pain alongside what we already have to cope with for the rest of our lives.”

“Now, in this 20th year, this unscrupulous endeavor to release Aaliyah’s music without any transparency or full accountability to the estate compels our hearts to express a word – forgiveness.” The estate goes on to say that they will “continue to defend ourselves” as well as the singer’s legacy,” especially against those “who have emerged from the shadows to leech off of Aaliyah’s life’s work.”

In just a few weeks will mark the 20th anniversary since Aaliyah passed away and there has been an ongoing cry for legacy to continue with a new audience of music lovers who are unable to enjoy her contributions to the industry in its entirety. Read through the estate’s message in full below.

“Pose” Actress Angelica Ross Catches Heat After Sharing DaBaby Story

The rapper remains a hot topic following his ongoing controversy, and Angelica Ross chimed in with a chance encounter she allegedly had with DaBaby. This last week has been a difficult one for the rising rapper as he is facing an onslaught of consequences for his homophobic remarks as well as his haphazard apologies that followed, and while some have stated that this is Cancel Culture at its worst, others have criticized DaBaby’s responses, insisting that he has been his own worst enemy.

This subject has caused there to be a line drawn in the sand between detractors and supporters, and just when you think that we’ve heard enough of the DaBaby Drama, transgender actress Angelica Ross has tweeted about running into the rapper.

“Story time…I actually met DaB*by earlier this year,” she said. “Flew home to ATL and had his gaze stuck on me as I walked towards him because he was standing next to my limo driver. He looked at the sign, then back at me, ‘Miss Ross’ he read aloud. I just laughed & left with my driver.” People accused her of drumming up a story for attention, but Ross quickly clapped back.

“One thing folks know about ME…I don’t have to lie to kick it! I don’t make up stories unless I’m being paid to thru SAG-AFTRA for film & television,” Ross quipped. A Twitter user questioned why she would share this story now. “It’s not what it says about him, but what it says about me and other trans women. We don’t ALL entertain these men & their nonsense. The universe was speaking to me. Had NOTHING to do with him. The moral of every story doesn’t center around y’all is the point.”

She also defended herself from people who stated that DaBaby probably knew that she was trans. “Folk have been commenting under my IG photos saying ‘you can tell it’s a dude, he wasn’t looking at her’…and that is ALSO the point. Choosing not to date trans women is one thing, denying your attraction to us is another. On my BUMMIEST day these dudes be thirsty for it.”

Check out Angelica Ross’s tweets, as well as a few reactions, below.

6ix9ine & Sara Molina Disagree About Supervised Visits With Their Daughter

When Tekashi 6ix9ine was first released from prison, Sara Molina said that she wouldn’t let him see their young daughter until he received a mental evaluation. The exes have been sharing scathing stories about one another for years and caught in the crossfire is their little girl who, according to Molina, doesn’t have any contact with the controversial rapper.

6ix9ine discussed his relationship with his daughter during his visit to Akademiks’s new podcast Off The Record, and the rapper told Wack 100 that he should be able to see his child on his terms, not anyone else’s.

“If that family wants me to be a father, y’all gon’ let that little girl be with her father,” said 6ix9ine. “That’s my kid… She’s five years old.” He denies Molina’s claims that he doesn’t financially support his child and suggested that he purchases items for his daughter. 6ix9ine claimed that when he was released from jail, he gave Molina’s family $20K and stated that his mother sees his daughter weekly for supervised visits.

“My mom is 57-years-old and she gets chaperoned like she’s a f*cking child over there with the other side,” he added. “My daughter is my creation. I created her. I deserve to have my daughter whenever I want to have her.” Not everyone has agreed, especially with his online antics and ongoing animosity with others in the industry. People commented that 6ix9ine’s reckless behavior can be dangerous.

Meanwhile, Molina fired back at her ex’s recent comments in a video. She says that she put the money 6ix9ine gave them into an account for their daughter and claimed that is all he has given in five years.

“He spent more on his girlfriend in one year than what he has put away for my daughter,” Molina said. “My daughter has less than $100,000 in the bank for her. College and everything.” She complained that he’s bragging about giving $20K to their daughter while he “walks around with a [million] in his pocket.”

“You do the math.” Molina also previously expressed that because of how 6ix9ine behaves, she was receiving threats to both herself and her child. Watch these two share their sides of the story below.

Miley Cyrus Offers To Educate DaBaby While Asking Fans To ‘Find Forgiveness and Compassion’ With Him

DaBaby is still facing heavy criticism for his comments at Miami’s Rolling Loud festival last month, where the rapper delivered a bizarre rant filled with insensitive remarks to the LGTBQ community as well as individuals with HIV/AIDS. His words earned him plenty of backlash from fans and fellow artists alike, but one person is using their position to help. In a post to Instagram, Miley Cyrus offered to sit down with DaBaby and educate him about the harm of his comments.

“As a proud and loyal member of the LGBTQIA+ community, much of my life has been dedicated to encouraging love, acceptance, and open mindedness,” she wrote. “It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds. There’s no more room for division if we want to keep seeing progress! Knowledge is power! I know I still have so much to learn.” She added, “would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other and help be part of making a more just and understanding future!”

The singer’s post comes just day after a report from Billboard revealed that DaBaby was dropped from this year’s Lollapalooza festival after he failed to deliver a promised apology video for his comments at the Rolling Loud festival.

Paul Wall, Lil Keke & Slim Thug Team Up On “Still Sippin”

Paul Wall became a trending topic last week after someone tweeted that his existence in hip-hop culture in 2021 would be problematic. That individual was quickly educated on why they were wrong about that. Paul Wall has cemented his name in hip-hop and Houston rap culture since the early 2000s. His appearance on songs like “Slow Jamz” and “Still Tippin” have carried a legacy that fans still cherish to this day.

This week, Paul Wall reminded everyone that his H-Town roots alongside Lil Keke and Slim Thug for their collaboration on “Still Sippin.” The three rappers ooze swagger on the record as they detail their lavish collection of vehicles and, of course, diamond grillz.

Cuban Doll Says She Broke Up With JayDaYoungan After Allegedly Finding “Gay Stuff”

Breakups can cause exes to publicly call out their former lovers, and Cuban Doll has seemingly decided to target JayDaYoungan’s sexuality. Cuban Doll is one of the latest artists to add her name to the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta roster but the drama isn’t just unfolding on television. Earlier this year, it was announced that she was dating JayDaYoungan, and by April, Cuban shared images to social media showing that she trashed his ex’s personal belongings.

JayDaYoungan and Cuban Doll’s relationship may be over, but she isn’t finished with him just yet. She tweeted the “real reason” they broke up and it has caused a slight uproar.

“The real reason me & jay broke up I went through his phone & seen gay stuff,” she tweeted. “Ain’t nothing with that I never said anything because I don’t thinks he ready to tell y’all maybe I’m wrong for even saying this but it’s honestly truth.” She added, “It’s okay I’m GAY ALSO [heart emojis].”

When the tweets were shared throughout social media, people called the messages “messy” while others believed they were similar to Blac Chyna’s recent posts reportedly “outing” her ex, Tyga. Chyna would later return to say that she was hacked and would never disrespect the father of her child, so we’ll have to wait to see how Cuban Doll follows this up, if she does at all.
