Vince Staples Had Alchemist & Earl Sweatshirt Project In The Works Before “Vince Staples”

Vince Staples and Kenny Beats put their friendship to the test by seeing if their comradery would translate to on-wax chemistry, and with Vince’s newly released self-titled effort, much of the Hip-Hop community would likely agree that their experiment was ultimately successful. At 10 tracks, Vince Staples is a sonically enthralling and criminally short album, and it has been receiving critical acclaim since it was released earlier this month.

Vince Staples is still promoting the Kenny Beats-assisted project, and in an upcoming appearance on Apple Music 1’s The Ebro Showthe Romona Park Legend revealed that Vince Staples was the result of him abandoning a collab project with the Alchemist and Earl Sweatshirt.

According to Vince Staples, his energy and studio habits didn’t mesh well with Alchemist and Earl Sweatshirt, and although he was admittedly excited about working with the two artists, he ultimately ended up working with Kenny Beats instead.

“You know, it’s crazy. I’m going to tell you the truth. This a Ebro exclusive, right? Alchemist had hit me and was like, ‘I want this project. Me, you, and Earl. I only need three weeks,'” Vince Staples said while talking to Ebro Darden. “I’m like, ‘All right, I’ll do it.’ So we go over there, and they get high. So I’m the only one over the rapping and I don’t smoke, so it didn’t really blend. I was getting headaches. So next thing I know I got 30 verses on 30 beats…I thought we was collaborating!”

Vince continues, saying, “Alchemist moves at a very cryptic pace, he’s hella slow. Then I get to the point I’m telling Kenny, I’m like, ‘Yeah, man.’ He’s like, ‘What’s up with the Alchemist project?’ I’m like, ‘Man, I’m just waiting on the homie. You feel me? You know, we’ve been getting these stems for a month and a half. It’s all good.’ And Kenny said, ‘Oh man, just come to the house.’ Like, ‘We don’t ever make no music, blah, blah, blah.’ I’m like, ’cause you the homie, I don’t really work with the homies, it’s weird. So boom. We go to Kenny house. We go twice a week for about two hours for three weeks. It was right before Christmas, right after Thanksgiving. Made 30, 40 songs, and then we picked eight.”

Check out the clip from Vince Staples’ upcoming appearance on Ebro’s Apple Music show below.

While the fact that an Alchemist, Earl Sweatshirt, and Vince Staples project almost came to fruition is likely hard for Hip-Hop fans to accept, the rest was history after Kenny Beats came into the picture. Vince Staples has already yielded popular tracks like “ARE YOU WITH THAT?,” “LAW OF AVERAGES,” and “TAKE ME HOME” with Fousheé, so it looks like the North Long Beach rapper made the right decision to do a full-legnth project with Kenny Beats.

Nas Announced ‘King’s Disease II’ Will Be Out August 6th, The Same Anticipated Date As Kanye’s ‘Donda’

Nas announced the follow-up to his last album, King’s Disease will be dropping in just a few days. The New York rapper let fans know that the second part of his Hit Boy-produced project would be dropping on August 6th, and astute fans of hip-hop will notice that’s the rumored date for Kanye to complete his new album, Donda, which may or may not be a hint of competitive energy in the air… or maybe synergy?

While Kanye is camped out in a stadium in Atlanta, nailing down the details of his latest work, an old diss tracks where Nas may or may not be dissing Tupac has surfaced. It’s unclear if that song is going to be a part of King’s Disease II, but considering the first installment won Nas a Grammy and functioned as a comeback album of sorts for the legendary MC, this follow up might be an equally impactful album.

Some may argue that Nas’ real comeback began with the Kanye-produced Nasir, which dropped during Ye’s rushed run of releases from 2018, and Nas later admitted was a bit rushed. Check out the album artwork for the project below, and look for it out on Mass Appeal Records on August 6th.

Kodak Black Promises A Grammy If Lamar Jackson Brings Home A Super Bowl Ring

Pompano Beach, Florida native rapper Kodak Black has issued fellow native Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens quarterback and 2019 NFL MVP, a challenge for their hometown. Bring a Super Bowl ring back to Pompano Beach, and Kodak will bring home a Grammy as well. Simple, right?

Kodak and Lamar Jackson have a storied friendship coming from the same hometown, as both have gone on to be successful in their respective fields of rap music and professional football. Even though Jackson plays far up north in Baltimore during the NFL season, Kodak still represents his team with Jackson’s jersey and a luxury Tesla decked out in Ravens colors.

“Bring The Super Bowl Back To The City This Year & Ima Bring A Grammy,” Kodak’s caption reads, tagging Jackson’s Instagram account in the process. Jackson replied with two emojis: crossed fingers and a rocket ship. Seems like the sky’s the limit.

Kodak is coming off a successful performance at this year’s Rolling Loud; a comedic clip of an older woman vibing to one of his songs has gone viral over the course of this week.

Jackson is back in Baltimore preparing for the NFL season with the Ravens, but has just hit a minor roadblock as he landed on the team’s COVID-19 Reserve list for testing positive recently. Despite his breakout MVP season in 2019 with the Ravens, the team has yet to make it very far into the playoffs, so Jackson and company will have to play a standout season in order to live up to those Super Bowl hopes.

What do you think about Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens’ Super Bowl chances this year? Can Kodak attract the attention of the Grammys given his recent output? Let us know in the comments below.

Trae Tha Truth has proven himself to be one of the most socially conscious rappers in hip-hop, continuously finding ways to better his community of Houston. Now, another act of generosity is making headlines, proving once again that Trae is a man of the people.

As it happens, Trae found himself moved by the story of Jaydeen Buckley, a young man who spent weeks selling water on the corner in order to afford school clothes. After learning of Buckley’s perseverance, Trae took to Instagram to learn more about the young man, and before long, he was on the move. “Found the LIL Man who was sellin water to get school clothes,” wrote Trae, determined to help Buckley in his time of need. “Bout To Turn Him Up!!”

According to a post from The Shade Room, Trae was able to connect with Jaydeen’s mother, who explained that they had recently relocated from Houston to Atlanta. Shortly afterward, Trae shared a picture with a smiling Jaydeen Buckley and his family, who he took on a massive shopping spree for some back-to-school gear and more. “We Got You Jaydenn,” he writes. “Welcome To Houston…. DJ Envy Says He’s Reported Multiple Kim Kardashian Instagram Posts For Nudity

DJ Envy is running his own tests on Instagram to look for flaws in their algorithm, apparently. During a Breakfast Club interview earlier this week with Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, Envy mentioned that he flagged multiple Kim Kardashian posts for nudity and found issue with what he views as a double standards on the app’s treatment of certain accounts. He wanted to see if Kim’s page would be taken down after being flagged many times, seeing as Boosie Badazz’s page has constantly been removed over the past year due to similar “nudity” issues.

“What’s nudity? Because I’ve flagged Kim Kardashian 10,000 times. They don’t take her down but they take everyone else down so I flagged it,” Envy said in response to Mosseri’s comments about Boosie’s banned account.

This comment came up when the two were directly talking about Boosie’s page being taken down, and Mosseri said there was a line that needed to be drawn at some point, with all of Boosie’s posts, including nudity. Envy responded by saying that he flagged Kim’s posts and nothing happened after the fact.

Charlamagne Tha God, one of the three Breakfast Club hosts alongside Envy, brought up Envy’s comments the following day for another segment in the morning show. Charlamagne alluded to the idea that Envy’s actions were very close to snitching.

Envy then opened up the phones for “Breakfast Club Court” to listeners to start a broader discussion about Instagram’s policies regarding what certain accounts post. Listeners seemed to agree with Envy’s statements, and claimed that popular Instagram users like Kim Kardashian have a lot more leeway on the app in regard to what they can post, more so than others.

Check out the video below. What do you think about Envy’s actions? Do you agree with him? Let us know in the comments.

Kevin Durant Takes Hilarious Swipe At Kyrie Irving Hater

Kevin Durant has always been an expert troll when it comes to Twitter. From his humble days as a burner account user until now, KD knows how to get fans riled up with the simple press of a button. Some might argue that Twitter beef is beneath him and his status as an NBA superstar, however, KD has made it clear that Twitter is simply fun for him and that he enjoys dunking on fans who try to go a step too far with him.

In the aftermath of the Nets’ loss in the NBA Playoffs, Durant has been particularly active on Twitter and he is constantly engaging with fans. Durant has been particularly active in Japan, where he is now competing in the Summer Olympics for Team USA. Even with the busy Olympic schedule forced upon him, Durant is finding the time to clap back at people.

Recently, a Twitter user named CuffsTheLegend said some disparaging remarks about Kyrie Irving, which then prompted a snarky response from KD. The Team USA superstar posted a photo of a man sleeping on the floor in an empty apartment as a way of showcasing what Kyrie haters typically look and live like. It was an extremely humorous troll that forced the user to put their tweets on private. From there, Durant racked up about 250K likes in what has to be an all-time Twitter ratio.

Fans are usually quick to troll Durant although, in this instance, KD ended up with all the respect in the world. NBA Twitter has gotten out of pocket these last few months and the trolling has gotten to a point where it is more toxic than funny. With this in mind, it was good to see Durant put an NBA Twitter troll in their place.

G Herbo & His Son Yosohn Throw Up Gang Signs In Now-Deleted Picture: Report

G Herbo may have burst onto the Hip-Hop scene as one of the most rugged rappers in Chicago, but over time, the 25 rapper has grown tremendously and started to peel back even more layers to his artistry. Herbo has credited that noticeable change to the fact that he is now a father. In 2018, he had his first son, Yosohn, with Ari Fletcher, and a couple of months ago, he welcomed his second son, Essex, with Fabolous’ step-daughter Taina Williams.

G Herbo seems to be really enjoying fatherhood, and recently, the PTSD rapper even admitted that he plans on becoming a stay-at-home dad. However, a recently posted and deleted photo may have gotten Herbo in trouble with his one of his baby’s mothers. According to a screenshot from The Neighborhood Talk, G Herbo recently posed for a picture with his firstborn son Yosohn, and the father-son duo was seen throwing up a gang sign.

While the picture itself depicts both G Herbo and his son Yosohn throwing up a gang sign, the now-deleted post’s caption was even more implicating. “@therealyosohnsantana GOT MY BACK FOREVER!! #BornInMemberShip.”

Check out the controversial picture below and let us know whether you think that G Herbo was right or wrong to post it.
