Elaine Thompson-Herah Is World’s Fastest Woman As Jamaica Sweeps Women’s 100m

Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah is now the fastest woman in the world after taking Gold in the women’s 100-meter race with an Olympic record time of 10.61.

Thompson-Herah led a sweep of the race by the Jamaican team as Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce took silver with 10.74 while Shericka Jackson landed the bronze medal with a time of 10.76. It’s a monumental win for Thompson-Herah who was not poised as a favorite to win as she came off an Achilles injury and only placed third during the Jamaican trials.

“This is really special. Super special. I knew I could have run this from like 2016, but I think I celebrated early too much and I knew one day it would come, hopefully,” Thompson-Herah said. “Two months ago, probably a month-and-a-half, I didn’t think I would be here today. And I held my composure, I believe in myself, I believe in God, and the team around me is very strong, I get that support. I didn’t expect to run this fast, even though I felt great during the rounds.”

Notably missing from the race was the United States’ Sha’Carri Richardson, who was suspended from the games after testing positive for cannabis use.

The ban didn’t keep her from applauding the Jamaican team, however, as she took to Twitter to congratulate them

“Congratulations to the ladies of Jamaica for the clean sweep,” Richardson penned. “Powerful, strong black women dominating the sport.”

After placing first in the U.S. Olympic trials, Richardson was pegged as Team USA’s best bet against the talent concentrated in Jamaica. With Richardson out of the running, the sole American to make it to the finals was sprinter Teahna Daniels who finished seventh in 11.02 seconds.

Matt Damon Admits He Still Used “The F-Slur” Until “Months” Ago

Matt Damon says he continued to use “the f-slur for homosexual,” until just months ago when his daughter scolded him for using the homophobic word. Damon told the story of when he last used the word during an interview with The Sunday Times, on August 1st.

“I made a joke, months ago, and got a treatise from my daughter,” he recalled. “She left the table. I said, ‘Come on, that’s a joke! I say it in the movie Stuck on You!’ She went to her room and wrote a very long, beautiful treatise on how that word is dangerous. I said, ‘I retire the f-slur!’ I understood.”

Damon explained that the slur “was commonly used when I was a kid, with a different application.”

He added that he’s learned that he needs to “shut the f*** up more,” when speaking about dealing with controversy in the past.

Damon’s comments, which he admitted unprovoked according to the Times’ author, come after a homophobic rant from DaBaby at Rolling Loud, last week. In response to the rant, DaBaby faced backlash from fans online and across the industry, prompting him to be removed from the Lollapalooza lineup, Sunday.

Jennifer Lopez Seen Rocking An Iced Out “Ben” Necklace In Italy

The revival of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s relationship was a surprise to everyone. Following her split from ex-fiance Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer spent little time reconnecting with her old flame. ARod and JLo confirmed their breakup in the late Spring, and be early Summer she was seen traveling with Affleck. The movie star certainly must feel like he hit the lottery twice.

Longtime Affleck buddy Matt Damon recently chimed in on the relationship as well. “The press was particularly terrible to them 18 years ago, so what’s nice is that at least they’re being nice this time around,” Damon said on Desus & Mero. “They’re on vacation right now, but he still responded when I hit him up about the Red Sox yesterday…You still have priorities!”

The two love birds were on vacation in Italy this past week, but Affleck had to head back to the states. He is currently filming scenes for DCs The Flash movie after agreeing to return as Batman after an initial retirement. However, although Affleck isn’t with JLo in person, he’s there in spirit. The gorgeous singer and actress was seen rocking an iced-out “Ben” necklace while waltzing around Italy. Check out her drip below.

The Kid LAROI’s “F*CK LOVE” Hits No. 1 A Year After Its Debut

A year after it first debuted, The Kid LAROI’s F*CK LOVE debut shoots from No. 26 on the Billboard 200 chart to No. 1 for its first week at the top slot. The surge follows up on several reissues, including the most recent F*CK LOVE 3+: OVER YOU.

In its 53rd week on the chart, the set earns 85,000 equivalent album units for the week ending July 29 with a 409% increase. The original 15-track album arrived on July 24, 2020, debuting at No. 8. In November of last year, the project added seven more cuts for F*CK LOVE (SAVAGE) and rebounded to No. 3 on the chart. It then released a third time on July 27, adding a total of 14 more tracks, including the Justin Bieber-assisted hit “Stay,” which currently occupies the top five on the Hot 100.

F*CK LOVE now becomes the first album to hit No. 1 more than a year after its debut since Prince’s The Very Best Of Prince hit No. 1 more than 15 years after its release in May of 2016 shortly after the singer’s death.

Elsewhere on the chart, Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour album rises to No. 2 with 69,000 equivalent albums units while Doja Cat’s Planet Her occupies No. 3 with 57,000 units. Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album is seated at No. 4 as Pop Smoke’s Faith rounds out the Top 5, dropping from the lead spot with 38,000 units this week.

The second half of the Top 10 is greeted by Lil Baby and Lil Durk’s Voice of the Heroes with 32,000 units while EST Gee celebrates his first Top 10 album as Bigger Than Life Or Death soars from No. 65 to No. 7 in its second week on the chart. The jump is related to the fact that it was released on a Wednesday, debuting with only two days of tracking in its first week.

Polo G’s Hall of Fame can be found at No. 8 with 29,000 units while Taylor Swift’s Folklore project occupies No. 9 following a vinyl reissue. Closing things out this week is Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia.

Chip Shortage Caused By Pandemic Will Make PS5 & Xbox Series X Hard To Buy Until 2023

Remember last holiday season when everyone said, “Just wait to buy an XBox Series X, they’ll be back in stock soon.” Well, those people were hilariously wrong. Those who spent maybe an extra $100-$200 dollars on a PS5 or XBox Series X last year were blessed compared to what the market looks like now. If you were in hope that things would get better soon, tough luck. It appears things will stay the same for another year or two at the least.

During a Q2 earnings call earlier this week, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said that because the pandemic made staying at home more worldwide, gaming has also taken a leap in demand. He believes the semiconductor supply chain will take a couple of years to catch up with demand. “While I expect the shortage to bottom out in the second half, it will take another one to two years before the industry is able to completely catch up with demand,” Gelsinger stated. “With major fab construction projects underway in Oregon, Arizona, Ireland, and Israel, we are investing for the future, but we are also taking action today to find innovative ways to help mitigate industry constraints.”

The semiconductor shortage has been the main reason why getting a Nintendo Switch, PS5, and XBox Series X|S has been near impossible for consumers. Nvidia also said the shortage will slow GPU production until the end of the year. It looks like it’s going to be another rough Christmas for kids.
