Nelly Keeps It Moving With “High Horse” Featuring Benny Blanco & Breland

Nelly may have shifted his genre of choice over the years, but albums like Country Grammar and Nellyville have forever cemented him as a hip-hop legend. Now, Nelly is gearing up for the release of his new country-inspired album Heartland, setting the stage with the Benny Blanco & Breland-assisted single “High Horse.”

Seemingly tailor-made for radio play, Nelly’s latest may not be for those seeking a return to “E.I” or “Midwest Swing.” But for those who can appreciate an artist making the music they want to make, “High Horse” is a feel-good return for the diamond-selling St. Louis native. It’s also an important one for Nelly, who opened up about some of his inspiration behind the upcoming project during an interview on Apple Music’s Land Of The Bre.

“I hope it opens people’s eyes up as far as some of those minds that might’ve been closed to having the idea of Black folk being in country as much as possible,” he explains. “But then also inviting more Black artists that are into country. Because I don’t know if they know, but we’re everywhere!”

Check out “High Horse” now, and show some love to Nelly in the comments below.

Robert Horry Decimates Dennis Schroder For Free Agency “Disaster”

Dennis Schroder has been in the news quite a bit over the past week due to some issues in free agency. After being offered an $84 million contract by the Los Angeles Lakers, Schroder decided to decline the offer and opted to test the waters of free agency. The point guard wants to be a starter in the league and he feels like he deserves big money. Unfortunately, no team wants to pay him those big amounts and as a result, the market for Schroder has dried up.

At this point, there is no telling where Schroder will go, and some fans believe he might just have to settle for a small one-year contract if he wants to continue his NBA career. It’s a sad state of affairs for a player who was thought to be the solver of the Lakers issues last season.

Now, Schroder is getting some harsh criticism from Lakers champion Robert Horry, who recently went off on Schroder for the way he has handled free agency. Needless to say

“You said, ‘Oh, I want to return to the Lakers.’ But you wanted to play games. Now you are the disaster of your own game plan,” Horry said. “You don’t know what you’re going to do. You probably lost about $60 million because you didn’t sign with the Lakers. Now you’re probably going to have to sign a one-year deal because I don’t think the Lakers are going to bring you back because they’re stacked now. They have no room for you.”

As the offseason continues, Schroder’s situation will be an interesting one to track. At this point, anything can happen, so stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest updates from around the NBA.

Bill Gates Reflects On Relationship With Jeffrey Epstein: “It Was A Huge Mistake”

Microsoft founder Bill Gates spoke about his past work with billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, Wednesday, in a new interview with CNN. He referred to the relationship as a “mistake.”

“I had several dinners with him hoping that what he said about getting billions of philanthropy for global health through contacts he had might emerge,” Gates said. “When it looked like that wasn’t a real thing that relationship ended.”

“It was a huge mistake to spend time with him, to give him the credibility,” the billionaire continued. “I made a mistake.”

Gates’ relationship with Epstein reportedly factored into a growing rift between himself and his ex-wife Melinda, who filed for divorce from him, earlier this year.

Melinda is expected to continue working on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for at least the next two years.

“I’ve always enjoyed our work together,” Gates told CNN, regarding his work with his ex-wife. “You know the two of us can go out and work with leaders and help build the organization, so that would be definitely the best thing for the foundation.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Gates discussed the reports of a toxic culture at Microsoft.

Russ Shares New Song “Italy”

Russ continues to keep the onslaught of new music coming. For the 14th straight week, following up “Fate,” the ATL artist decides to return to the scene and share another song called “Italy,” which he dubbed as the “hardest song of the year.”

Over production from DillyGotItBumpin, Darko, and Joe Stanley, Russ reflects on his native land of Italy while weaving in and out of some flexing. “I just got back from the motherland, I just ran up another hundred grand/ Women try to get in my pants, I don’t dance, but I made a couple rappers do the Running Man,” he raps.

The song surfaces just a couple weeks after Russ announced his “Tour Before The Tour,” where he’s visiting cities around the country that he won’t be visiting in 2022. Check those dates out (below) and let us know what you think of “Italy” in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics:

How are you a boss, but you got a boss?
Why you so mad at me? I just say the truth, y’all are just shutting us off
I’m in Italy drinking wine ‘til I throw up, rappers still flexing Miami trips, chicks need to grow up
I remember my first million, I remember my first million (Haha)

Eminem’s “EPMD 2” Verse Proves He’s The Game’s Biggest Hip-Hop Head

All things considered, hip-hop culture is a relatively young one. Born on August 11, 1973, when DJ Kool Herc hosted a back-to-school jam at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, hip-hop currently sits at forty-eight years old — younger than many of its most beloved veterans.

Over the course of its deep history, we’ve seen the rise of countless influential figures, including the all-to-oft unsung pioneers and innovators that shaped the culture’s sound and attitude. Without them, perhaps we wouldn’t have the music we have today. We certainly wouldn’t have Eminem, who found solace in rap’s larger-than-life cast of characters during his youth. Throughout his career — especially recently — Em has lined his verses with tributes to those who paved the way for his own journey.

On Music To Be Murdered By: Side A, Em stood alongside a pair of legendary lyricists from his own generational class — Mos Def and Black Thought — on “Yah Yah.” To further enhance the experience, he enlisted Q-Tip for the hook and sampled one of Busta Rhymes’ iconic intro to “Woo Ha! Got You All In Check.” In his climactic verse, Em rattles off a list of OGs, taking it back to the formative influences during his childhood and teenage years.

In what feels like a single breath, Slim namedrops LL Cool J, Big L, Del The Funkee Homosapien, K-Solo, Treach, Kool G Rap, DJ Polo, Tony D, ODB, Kool Moe Dee, Run DMC, Ed O.G, EPMD, D.O.C, Ice-T, DJ Evil Dee, King T, UTFO, Schoolly D, Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions, YZ, Chi-Ali, Rakim & Eric B, Notorious B.I.G, Paris, Three Times Dope, Poor Righteous Teachers, N.W.A, Eazy-E, and of course Dr. Dre.

That verse alone could probably cement him as the game’s biggest hip-hop head, insofar as pure encyclopedic knowledge. In interviews, Em has rapped verses from memory with startling precision, and he recently linked up with Big Daddy Kane to hold it down for an upcoming documentary. At concerts, he makes sure to wear t-shirts with classic rap album covers in order to introduce them to new fans. And let’s not forget that the man literally collects hip-hop cassettes, recently revealing the rarest one in his possession

“My most coveted was probably Nas’ Illmatic,” he explained, speaking on his collection during his Shady Con in. “Man, I couldn’t find that shit nowhere. I finally found one, and it cost like five, six hundred dollars. For a sealed copy. Because who the fuck had a copy of Illmatic and didn’t open it. Nobody.”

Yesterday, things came full circle for Slim, who held it down with his first rapped collaboration with Nas, “EPMD 2.” Appropriate, the song also featured a guest appearance from EPMD, who Em paid homage to on the aforementioned “Yah Yah.” Fun fact — last year, Erick Sermon was trying to send a beat to Bad Meets Evil, though a series of hilarious miscommunications ultimately led Joell Ortiz and KXNG Crooked to seize said beat for themselves. Circling back to “EPMD 2,” it seemed obvious that Em would use the opportunity of linking with his hip-hop heroes to showcase his vast knowledge of rap lore.

In that regard, he did not disappoint. As his verse reaches an apex, he pays homage to the rap game’s lost ones, including some who might not have garnered mainstream attention otherwise. “RIP out to DMX, Stezo, E and Nipsey, Ecstasy and Prince Markie Dee,” raps Em. “MF DOOM, I hit 50 via text / Told him that I love him cuz I don’t even know when I’m gonna see him next.

A few bars later, Em once again sets his sights on immortality, highlighting some of the names he aspires to stand alongside. “I just pray for the day when I’m able to say that I’m placed with the greats,” he declares, though to some he has long cemented such a placement. “And my names with the Kane’s and the Wayne’s and the Jay’s and the Dre’s and the Ye’s and the Drake’s and the J-Dilla’s, Jada’s, Cool J’s, and the Ra’s and amazing as Nas is / and praise to the Gods of this shout to the golden age Hip Hop.”

A modern-day take on his famous “Till I Collapse” scheme, it’s an interesting burst of insight into Em’s artistic values. True, the names had to share some syllable similarities — this is a bar, after all — but it’s still cool to see him giving flowers to Big Daddy Kane, Lil Wayne, JAY-Z, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Drake, J. Dilla, Jadakiss, LL Cool J, Rakim, and Nas. Not many artists are so openly praising their influences on wax, but Eminem has been making a point to do so in his recent material.

Is it safe to declare Eminem to be the rap game’s biggest hip-hop head? It seems that there’s enough evidence to do exactly that. Were there to be a high-stakes evening of rap trivia, say for charity, it feels like he’d be a formidable contender to square off with. Perhaps one day we’ll see such an event take place — lest we forget, there was once a rapper-edition of The Weakest Link with B-Real, Nate Dogg, DJ Quik, and Xzibit. Say hip-hop trivia night were to go down, how much money would you place on Slim Shady?

Josh Allen Signs Incredibly Rich Extension With The Bills

Josh Allen had a breakout season with the Buffalo Bills last year as he led the team to the AFC Championship game. The Bills eventually lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, however, it became immediately clear that the Bills will be contenders for years to come. Allen is a player who has improved quite a bit since his rookie season, and he has the athleticism to be a beast whether he is throwing the ball are simply running down the field when he has no other options.

Allen is one of those players that you want to have on your roster for a very long time, and the Bills are well aware of this. With his rookie contract coming to an end soon, the Bills have been looking to negotiate with Allen, and today, they came to an agreement on a truly massive deal.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Allen will be receiving a six-year contract extension that takes him all the way through 2027. The contract is worth a whopping $258 million, which means Allen will make an average annual salary of $43 million per year. On top of all of this, Allen will get $150 million guaranteed, which is life-changing money for him and his family.

There is no telling whether or not Allen lives up to this contract, although there is no denying that he has tremendous upside heading into next season. Let us know what you think about the deal, in the comments below.

Zacari, Isaiah Rashad, & Buddy Connect On “Rainy Day”

Though only a fool would be a fully committed optimist when it comes to Top Dawg Entertainment, though perhaps we’ve been given enough ground to be hopeful. Not only did we recently receive a new album from Isaiah Rashad titled The House Is Burning — read our full review right here — but now we’ve got a posse cut by Zacari, Rashad, and Buddy (who as his name may imply, is a buddy to all).

“Rainy Day” arrives courtesy of Zacari, a bouncy new single that may very well an upcoming body of work is on the horizon. Vocally, Zacari taps into a vibe that The Weeknd may have inspired, his voice blending nicely with the low timbre of the bass. Rashad brings his casual swagger to the mix with a smooth verse, kicking some double-time bars with little effort. After a pitched-down chorus, Buddy steps in to close it out with a well-constructed contribution.

As we wait for further instructions on what TDE’s next move might be, give “Rainy Day” a spin and voice your predictions below.

Tom The Mail Man Explains Why He’s One Of Hip-Hop’s Most Fascinating Misfits

The hip-hop landscape is as crowded as ever, but what has helped Tom The Mail Man (real name Sean Brown) stand out is the fact that hip-hop isn’t his only terrain. The artist is fresh off the release of his 2021 album Sometimes Sorry Isn’t Enough, and the project features everything from contemporary rap to straight-up ’90s rock tunes like “Last Night.” Tom has established himself as an essential artist worth paying attention to, and the latest Magnum Scenes video is an opportunity to learn more about him, the scene where he found his comfort zone, and how it has influenced him.

Inspired by musicians who resist the urge to play within a select genre, Tom went outside the box experimenting with his sound and eventually found Airwaves in Atlanta, a hive of other self-described “weird kids” like Sam Levine and Daniel Hartzog. Together, they formed a kind of second family that helps each other navigate loss and the process of making music, allowing Tom The Mail Man to approach his dream of being a legend who can bring people together with his sound.

Take a look at the above video to find out more about Tom’s rise, the story behind his name, and his ambition to be bold, authentic, and a “long-lasting character in the game.”
