Atlanta-bred GRIP has unveiled the release date for his debut album under the Shady Records imprint. Officially titled I Died For This?!, the project is set to arrive on August 27, marking his first full-length release with the label and following up on 2019’s Snubnose.

It will be his second release ever via Shady after sharing his “Gutter” single with an appearance from WARA.

GRIP’s signing was announced in July, but it was a process nearly a year in the making, per the Atlanta emcee’s accounts.

“This was like fucking last year, we got approached by Paul Rosenberg,” he told Twenty Infinity in July. “He had heard the music through the homie Mike and was just like, ‘Yo.’ Played it for Em and Em was just like, ‘Yo, who the fuck is this? Let’s see what’s up.’ I talked to him a few times and shit. You know all the legal shit, that takes a long time. It was hard to keep the cat in the bag. I don’t even think I told family members and shit like that. We all knew but it was just like, ‘I’m finna do this,’ then if shit falls through it’s like, ‘Damn n-gga, I thought you was gonna do that.’”

GRIP further explains that while the deal was in the works, he and his team focused on completing the album no matter the outcome.

“Pretty much wrapped the album up and everything came and signed a deal,” he added.

Known for her bubbly personality and body-positive messaging, in an Instagram live video, Pop singer Lizzo recently broke down over fat-shaming, racist reactions to her newest single featuring Cardi B, “Rumors.”

“Sometimes I feel like the world just don’t love me back. It’s like, it doesn’t matter how much positive energy you put into the world. You’re still going to have people who have something mean to say about you. I just feel like I’m seeing negativity directed towards me in the most weirdest way, like, people saying s–t about me that just doesn’t even make sense. It’s fat-phobic and it’s racist and it’s hurtful. I’m not making music for anybody.”

Trolls on social media accused the “Truth Hurts” singer of making songs that cater to white people and Lizzo clapped back with a perfect response, reminding folks that she is Black. In the lengthy video she went on to say:

“I’m a Black woman making music. I make Black music, period. I’m not serving anyone but myself. Everyone is invited to a Lizzo show, to a Lizzo song. To this good energy. Everyone is invited. …For the people that just are always going to have something negative to say about me, that has nothing to do with music, or the content of my character, or me as an artist, and just has everything to do with my body or whatever trope you think I fall into, suck my pussy from behind. Cause y’all motherfuckers gonna be the main ones catching up.”

Fans on Twitter came to her defense almost immediately:

Cardi B also did not hesitate to support her fellow music collaborator. In a tweet, she argued, “When you stand up for yourself, they claim your problematic & sensitive. When you don’t, they tear you apart until you crying like this. Whether you skinny, big, plastic, they going to always try to put their insecurities on you. Remember these are nerds looking at the popular table.”

Cardi was not the only celebrity who felt it necessary to uplift Lizzo. In a TMZ interview, her husband Offset shared a specific message for Lizzo haters.”Let these beautiful Black women be great. Stop judging and bringing out negative energy. We work hard to be entertainers for the world. Let us be.”

There was a wave of support for Sha’Carri Richardson after the American sprinter was disqualified from competing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics because of a failed drug test, where she tested positive for marijuana. Throughout the Olympics, fans continued to show love to Sha’Carri, who watched on from the sidelines and trained hard for her next race. Now that she’s started to hype up her upcoming competition, fans appear to have turned on her.

On Wednesday, Richardson posted a new video on Instagram, where she got her hair styled and used a Nicki Minaj voiceover to warn her fellow track & field competitors that she’s back, and she’s not the one to mess with. However, considering three Jamaican runners ran faster than Sha’Carri’s personal best in the 100M sprint at the Olympics, fans appear to have lost hope in her winning ability, challenging her confidence in the comments.

Letting fans know about her race on Saturday against the stars from the Jamaican Olympic team, Sha’Carri popped her shit and told her opponents to watch out, but fans weren’t having it. She was instantly met with rude comments about how she would come in fourth place, which will surely only fuel her desire to win even more.

On Thursday, Sha’Carri started trending on Twitter with more supportive messages coming in.

After months of keeping fans waiting for Trip At Knight information and trolling them with Roddy Ricch-inspired memes, Trippie Redd finally revealed the tracklist to his long-awaited project last week. Now, the emo-rap star has returned with another exciting Trip At Knight update: the release date.

Apparently, the wait for Trippie Redd’s highly anticipated fourth studio album is just about over, as the “Holy Smokes” and “Miss The Rage” artist is sticking to his word and releasing it before embarking on the Tripp At Knight Tour next week.

According to Trippie Redd, Trip At Knight will release this Friday, August 20th. As previously reported, the album is absolutely stacked, with confirmed guest appearances from high-profile artists such as Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, Drake, Polo G, Lil Durk, Juice WRLD, and XXXTentacion. Other exciting features sprinkled throughout Trip At Knight include Ski Mask the Slump God, Cactus Jack signee SoFaygo, Sada Baby, BabyFace Ray, and Icewear Vezzo.

In addition to confirming that his star-studded new album will be arriving within a matter of hours, Trippie Redd also took a moment to tease a new music video that will be dropping on Friday as well. The SoFaygo-assisted track “MP5” will be getting what looks like a zombie-esque video treatment, so fans will be able to look forward to that as well.

A few months ago, the hip-hop community exploded over claims that rapper Quavo had repossessed the icy blue Bentley that he purchased for his ex-girlfriend, Saweetie, over the holiday season. The rumors were confirmed when fans noticed a local used car dealership advertising the car, which was seemingly stripped from Saweetie’s driveway following the couple’s split. She’s since upgraded to a Rolls-Royce. 

Now, it appears as though Alex Rodriguez may have taken a page out of Quavo’s book because, on Instagram, he just posted a picture in front of the red Porsche that he gifted to his ex-fiancée, Jennifer Lopez.

“I’m super down to earth,” wrote the former baseball player on his latest picture uploaded to Instagram, in which he poses in front of a red Porsche. As many fans have already noticed, the car seems to be identical to the one he bought J-Lo for her birthday. 

People are theorizing that he posted the picture because he knew that his ex wouldn’t see it, considering she unfollowed him on the platform earlier this week. Lopez is currently dating Ben Affleck, and they seem to be getting quite serious. It would make sense that she doesn’t want to be driving around in the vehicle her ex bought her, especially considering she has the money to get her own luxury whip.

The third (and final?) DONDA listening event has been announced, and Kanye West is packing his bags, moving from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta to Soldier Field in Chicago. The first two events in Atlanta were massive successes, creating a lot of hype for the new album, and the next event in Chicago should do the same. According to Bu Thiam, a music industry executive who presently manages Kanye’s career, the elusive artist will finally be releasing the album after next week’s event.

Fans have been flooding Bu’s comments with inquiries regarding the whereabouts of the album, and it appears as though DONDA will finally arrive next week. According to ‘Ye’s manager, the Chicago native will “absolutely” and “100%” release the album next week.

Replying to one fan who asked if Kanye would “finally” drop the album after next week’s listening session at Soldier Field, Bu wrote, “Absolutely!” Another fan asked if there was a possibility that Kanye would turn on his perfectionist charm once again and push the album back following the Chicago crowd’s reception, and Bu said that wasn’t going to happen. Apparently, he will “100%” drop after the event.

With that said, it’s looking like we may have a release date of August 27 locked in if Kanye decides to drop on a Friday, of course.
