SOURCE SPORTS: Jordan Poole Dodges Draymond Green Question, Talks Wizards Future Instead

Jordan Poole doesn’t have anything to say about Draymond Green. Appearing for the first time as a Washington Wizard, Poole was asked about his run in Golden State end.

When asked about Green’s preseason punch, Poole responded: “We’re in Washington now. Playing with Kuz, great duo. Being able to really flourish, expand your game and help a new team. Help lead an entire group of guys, it’s a challenge that we’re up for.”

The Golden State Warriors fell to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games in the Western Conference Semifinals. After the series was over, the questions were what was next for the Warriors and, more importantly, what went wrong. If you ask Steve Kerr, the team lacked trust in each other.

Speaking with ESPN, Kerr stated the team always had an uphill battle due to a lack of trust, and at the root of that issue was Draymond Green punching Jordan Poole during training camp.

“Anytime some trust is lost, then it makes the process much more difficult, and there was some trust lost,” Kerr said. “That’s as blunt as I can be. We have to get back to what has made us really successful, which is a really trusting environment and a group that relies on one another and makes each other better.”

He added, “There’s no hiding from it — the incident with Draymond and Jordan at the beginning of the year played a role in that. It’s hard for that not to impact a team.”

Draymond Green echoed the sentiments appearing on Stephen A. Smith’s simulcast of Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, stating the team was not “able to come together.”

“None of those things happen if that doesn’t happen, because the voice that I am and the departments that I lead this team in, there was a ton of slippage due to me sitting back, me not saying anything, me trying to allow that situation to play itself out and give it time to heal,” Green said.

He added, “About February I started to feel like myself again and speak more.”

Speaking with The Ringer’s Logan Murdock, Poole was asked about how that moment hurt the season. Initially he responded, “I don’t have no answer for you.” Poole followed up with, “We were teammates. It’s just business, honestly. And that’s really all it was, it is, it has been. It’s just been business. It’s been basketball.”

Steph Curry Says Goodbye To Jordan Poole

Jordan Poole grew into a much-memed fringe starter for the Golden State Warriors. Drafted 28th overall in 2019, Poole worked his way up from G League demotion to starting 43 games (and playing in 82) this past season. Furthermore, he cracked 20 points a game in the most recent campaign. However, he was also absolutely roasted for essentially being invisible during the Warriors’ disappointing playoff run. A lot of people expected the Warriors to move on from Poole after the season.

That expectation came to fruition as a result of the Chris Paul trade. Initially, Paul was traded to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Bradley Beal. However, the Wizards have no need for Paul, nor his massive contact. So the Wizards turned around and flipped Paul to the Warriors in exchange for Poole. He will now play out the four-year contract he signed last season as part of a Washington rebuild. Now one of his former teammates, Steph Curry, has officially said goodbye to him.

Curry’s Goodbye Video Sparks Debate

“So now that the trade is actually final, I thought I’d come on here and say to JP how much I appreciated the four years, brother,” Curry began the video on his Instagram story. “You’re a champion, you grew up right in front of everyone’s faces. You know, that first year where it was rough and everybody, you know. You was just trying to find your way – going to the G League and coming back. Us going 18-5 down the stretch your second year. Us winning a championship your third year. And, ya know, fighting to the end this last year. Can’t wait to see you shine on own and see what you become. And, you know, CP, can’t wait to ride with you brother.”

However, the video has proven divisive. While some think it’s a classy goodbye, others are reading more into it. Curry’s inability to look at the camera, his fairly monotone and disinterested delivery are all being used as “evidence” that this was less a personal message and more of an obligation from the team’s biggest star. Furthermore, it’s not the first time that it’s been suggested that a current Warrior is shading Poole. While supporting Curry at The Match, Draymond Green did the NBA roster-building challenge for a TikTok. When presented with the Wizards, Green opted to choose Kyle Kuzma over the newly-traded Poole.

Draymond Green Likely Returning To Warriors Amid Wild Rumors

Draymond Green is set to become a free agent for the first time in his career after declining his player option with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are reportedly eager to get him back, which many pundits agree is an absolute necessity for Golden State.

“When the Golden State Warriors have contended, it’s because they have had an elite defense. You lose him, with really no way to replace him, you’re not winning an NBA championship,” JJ Redick said on First Take on June 14. “Without Kevin Durant on the Warriors, LeBron James basically can beat the Warriors any given time when it comes down to that head-to-head matchup with Steph Curry,” Kendrick Perkins argued on June 29.

Green Likely Headed Back To Warriors

As things stand, Green is most likely headed back to the Warriors. Speaking on Paul George’s podcast, Green revealed that he’s still in regular contact with his longtime teammates there. “[Steph Curry & Klay Thompson are] my brothers… I’m in touch with them a couple times a week right now just kinda letting them know my mindset, what I’m thinking… just to keep them in the loop.” Furthermore, Curry has previously stated that he would like to keep the Warriors’ big three together for at least one more season.

However, that has not stopped wild rumors from circulating. Green linked up with LeBron in France a few weeks ago. That lead to a bevy of rumors that he was headed to the Lakers. Then Brian Windhorst suggested that the Kings were making cap moves so they could possibly consider someone like Green. Most recently, Green reportedly took a trip to Portland. NBA Twitter lost it, believing that this definitely meant that Green was going to be teaming up with Dame on the Blazers. However, much like with the recent Kyrie Irving twist, Green’s saga isn’t over until he puts pen to paper. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHop.

SOURCE SPORTS: Steph Curry and Klay Thompson Say They Believe Chris Paul Will Elevate the Warriors

Chris Paul Traded to Golden State Warriors in Swap for Jordan Poole & Picks

When the 2023-24 NBA season kicks off, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors will have a new teammate in former foe Chris Paul. The Dubs’s longtime superstar duo will face off in The Match against the NFL superstar tandem of Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes and spoke to The Athletic about it, but started with some CP3 talk.

In case you missed it, less than a week after being traded to the Washington Wizards, Chris Paul is now a member of the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have landed Paul in a deal that sends Jordan Poole, a 2030 first-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick to DC.

Reflecting on the new deal, both Curry and Thompson state the transition will be easy.

“Any time you get to play with a player who is one of the best of your generation it’s an honor,” Thompson said. “It’s a little weird because we’ve had so many battles in the past with Chris, and he’s led so many teams that nearly knocked us off or did knock us off all the way back in 2014.

“I think he’s just going to add such a calming presence and leadership component that we need.”

Curry added, “The business is crazy. We all know that. If you asked us six months ago if this was something that could happen, the answer probably would’ve been no just based on where we were. Then you get to the summer and are trying to find ways to get better and put yourself in a position to chase another championship. Every team that CP has been on gets better. That’s the most consistent thing about him, and who he is and what he brings to the team. Everybody’s going to talk about the age.”

Chris Paul, recently traded from the Phoenix Suns, said the deal surprised him. In addition, he is placing blame on both new Suns owner Mat Ishbia and Detroit Pistons legend and Ishbia’s advisor, Isiah Thomas. Paul, Landry Shamet, and picks were sent to the Washington Wizards for Bradley Beal.

Paul is currently on a book tour and spoke with The New York Times about the trade.

“It’s just — it’s tough,” Paul said. “Seriously, it is part of the business, and what you realize is that no one owes you anything. No matter how you are with them or what you do, you realize that in this business, nobody owes you anything, as it should be.

“But when it comes through and my son texts me, I realize that, you know, Mat and Isiah, I guess, just wanted to go in a different direction.”

Well, now CP3 is headed in a new direction.

Steph Curry Reveals Feelings On Chris Paul Trade

Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors fell short of repeating as the champions of the NBA. The Warriors were knocked out of the 2023 Playoffs in the Western Conference Semifinals by the Lakers. The Warriors seemed to be missing just one more piece to get over the hump. Although it was practically the same team that won the Larry O’Brien just a year before. Nevertheless, the Warriors felt like it was time to shake things up a bit. When you have the chance to bring in a future Hall of Famer, you can’t pass it up.

Chris Paul was traded to the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster deal. The trade sent former Wizards star Bradley Beal to Phoenix. However, before that trade was even officially completed, Paul had another new home. The Warriors wasted little time in bringing Paul to the organization. However, that means trading away a young piece of the franchise. That young piece would end up being Jordan Poole. Poole already had an up-and-down year, including an altercation with Draymond Green. However, Curry will not forget his time with the team.

Steph Curry Trusts Warriors Plan

In his first comments about the trade, Curry mentioned how hard it is to see Poole go. “You hate losing [Jordan Poole]… That’s the tough part of the business, seeing a young guy come into his own [and then get traded]… But we’re trying to win next year, and Chris Paul can help.” The last part of that comment is the sole reason for the trade. Paul puts the Warriors in a better position to compete for a title. However, will he be open to coming off of the bench?

It may take some time for the Warriors to blend Paul into their chemistry. However, Curry and Paul both are proven winners. They each know the sacrifices that need to be made for the greater good. But does Paul give the Warriors a better chance at beating a team like the Denver Nuggets? Do you think this trade made the Warriors better? Let us know in the comment section. SOURCE SPORTS: Golden State Warriors President and GM Bob Myers to Step Down

1343445659

The Golden State Warriors are set to enter a new era as Bob Myers has announced he will depart from his role as the team’s president and general manager.

In a statement to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Myers said: “It’s just time.”

Myers was instrumental in building the championship Warriors teams over the past decade.

Speaking on the possibility of Myers departing, Draymond Green spoke on his podcast after losing in the playoffs, revealing their bond.

“That does suck, because again, Bob is one of the guys I rode in with, that I’ve been on this journey with for 11 years and have all been plugging away each and every year trying to deliver championships,” Green said, according to NBC Sports. “That’s what makes us go, that’s what we’re all in it for. The possibility that he may not be here does not sit well with me. It’s frustrating.

“Number one, most importantly, I built a friendship, a relationship with Bob Myers that even if he is gone, when I’m gone, both of us no longer here … that is a relationship that I have built that will last for the rest of my life. Someone I confide in, someone I trust. And so to know that may not be here, that sucks. That hurts, because I’ve appreciated going to work with him every day for the last 11 years and the things that he’s taught me.”

Green added, “I think in life we all need people who hold us accountable and he holds me accountable at a totally different standard.”

Bob Myers Leaves The Warriors: Report

Bob Myers is one of the most respected executives in all of basketball and it is easy to see why. Overall, he put together one of the greatest dynasties in the entire history of the NBA. The Golden State Warriors won four titles starting in 2015 and made it to six NBA Finals. Although the team had some down years, they came back in 2022 and won it all. It was a huge achievement for the team that showcased just how well put together the Warriors have been throughout all of these years.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, they were not able to get over the hump this year. They had a weak regular season that resulted in a sixth seed in the West. Furthermore, they were pushed to seven games by Sacramento before being eliminated by the Los Angeles Lakers in six. It was not the end of the season that the Warriors were hoping for, and now, they have big decisions to make. However, moving forward, Myers will not be making these decisions.

Bob Myers Leaves On His Own Terms

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Bob Myers announced that he would be stepping down from the team. Overall, Myers was not fired or anything like that. Instead, he just believes now is the best time for him to leave. He has accomplished everything he has set out to, and he is happy leaving right now. Although Warriors fans are certainly going to miss him, it seems like Myers will get to enjoy some much-needed time off. Either way, this is an end of an era for the Golden State Warriors. What happens from here on out, is anyone’s best guess.

In the eyes of many, the dynasty ended as soon as the Warriors lost to the Lakers. Steph Curry is getting older, as is Klay Thompson. Additionally, there is this sense that Draymond Green will want to leave and join LeBron James in L.A. Whatever the case, it was a pleasure watching the Warriors over the past decade. Green can become a free agent this summer or opt into the last year of his contract. Green has not decided, but Kerr wants him back. “If Draymond is not back, we’re not a championship contender. We know that. He’s that important to winning and to who we are. I absolutely want him back.”

Draymond Green echoed the sentiments appearing on Stephen A. Smith’s simulcast of Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, stating the team was not “able to come together.”
