Hitmaka Can’t Stop Playing Kendrick Lamar’s Entire “GNX” LP

Hitmaka certifies Kendrick Lamar’s surprise album a classic on Instagram. On Saturday (Nov. 23), the man behind chart-topping hits for Big Sean, Meek Mill, and Megan Thee Stallion said that GNX is the first album he has listened to from beginning to end. Promoting the album, Hitmaka wrote, “This is the first album I’ve played top 2 bottom & I’m so happy I did. A classic [umbrella emoji].” The producer joins praise from everyone in hip-hop, including Nas, Eminem, and Jay-Z.

GNX follows a huge 2024 for Kendrick Lamar. He arguably beat Drake and J. Cole in the long-discussed rap debate. He conquered the summer with the Grammy-nominated single “Not Like Us.” Then, secured the biggest moment of his career in the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. He brought 100 hoods together on one stage at the iconic Pop-Out concert in Los Angeles. He accomplished everything while remaining hidden and allowing his music to make the necessary statements.

Hitmaka Stamps GNX  A Classic

GNX marks Lamar’s first release under pgLang, his multidisciplinary imprint, in collaboration with Interscope Records. The 12-song album surprised the world with its trendsetting music and subject matter. Immediately following “Not Like Us” ‘s success, Kendrick addressed everything that concerned him. The #1 album mentioned Nas, Lil Wayne, Drake, Snoop Dogg, and many more. It acknowledges the West Coast’s classic Latin music heritage. The album made Snoop Dogg apologize for sharing Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle.

While Hitmaka is known for working with the biggest names in music, he doesn’t make GNX. The project’s credits reveal an eclectic mix of collaborators. Jack Antonoff, known for his work with Taylor Swift and as the frontman of Bleachers, co-produced several tracks alongside longtime Lamar collaborator Sounwave. Antonoff’s influence adds depth to the album’s layered production, while his connection to Lamar stretches back to their work on Swift’s Bad Blood (Remix). West Coast voices AzChike and Dody6 also make notable appearances, showcasing Lamar’s ongoing commitment to elevating emerging talent.

Kendrick Lamar Praises Ab-Soul’s Lyrical Abilities On New Album

On the track “the heart pt 6” from his buzzing new album, Kendrick Lamar acknowledged the influence his Black Hippy group member Ab-Soul had on his lyrical development. As he reflects on the early days of Top Dawg Entertainment, Kung Fu Kenny recognizes Soulo’s creative process, rapping, “Ab-Soul in the corner mumblin’ raps, fumblin’ packs of Blacks / Crumblin kush ’til he cracked a smile / His words legendary, wishin’ I could rhyme like him / Studied his style to define my pen.” The new verse follows Kendrick supporting Soul’s new album a couple of weeks ago on social media with a screenshot of the tracklist.

Kendrick Lamar and Ab-Soul performed together over the summer as Black Hippy at the iconic Pop-Out concert. K. Dot has spoken on Soul’s music on multiple occasions. Since 2011, Ab-Soul has released six albums to critically acclaimed reviews with Top Dawg Entertainment. Black Hippy, which also includes Jay Rock and Schoolboy Q, was mentioned in Kendrick’s new track as he takes accountability for the group’s breakup. On the track, K. Dot blames the halt of their anticipated album on his desire to pursue other creative endeavors.

While none of Black Hippy appears on the new album, TDE’s SZA collaborates with Kendrick on several tracks, including “Luther.” Others to appear on the album are emerging Los Angeles artists AZChike, Lefty Gunplay, Wallie The Sensei, and Hitta J3. GNX has soared to number-one on Apple Music in less than 24 hours. The surprise album is a trending topic across social media for a variety of topics. Their are rumors of a second album from Lamar on the way before his anticipated Super Bowl performance.

Early TDE fans remember Ab-Soul being the label’s original superstar. Known for his Longterm mixtape series, Soulo was praised for his original, introspective raps. The style was unheard of by a West Coast rapper. His latest album, Soul Burger, includes guest features by J.I.D., Vince Staples, Lupe Fiasco, and Ty Dolla $ign. The album is led by the hit single “Crazier.”

Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” Soars To #1 On Apple Music

In less than 24 hours, Kendrick Lamar’s surprise drop of GNX made his album the number-one album on Apple Music. Popular social media account Kurrco broke the news on Friday evening (Nov. 22), announcing the album was the fattest to reach #1 in the platform’s rap category. Released unconventionally, the new album has taken over social media with various trends ranging from Mustard’s name referral to conspiracy theories behind the release date to the raps about various superstars like Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and Nas

According to Chart Data, each song on the new album is among Apple’s Top 12 songs. Fans were surprised that the new album did not include previously viral hits “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us.” Among the standout tracks is “heart part 6,” a continuation of his celebrated series and a subtle nod to his historical exchanges with Drake. In “wacced out murals,” Kendrick responds to Lil Wayne and the upcoming Super Bowl performance.

Kendrick Lamar Takeover Apple Music

In March, the rapper shared a photo on Instagram of the vehicle that inspired the album. It builds anticipation for the biggest moment of the artist’s career coming in 2025.  Lamar will take center stage in February as the headliner for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans. While the choice has been celebrated by many, it has also sparked debate. Critics argue that Lil Wayne, a New Orleans native and hip-hop legend, would have been a more fitting selection for the event in his hometown.

GNX follows Lamar’s critically acclaimed 2022 album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, which earned the Grammy for Best Rap Album earlier this year. “Not Like Us” already generating buzz. Lamar’s new music has captured Grammy nominations in major categories, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year. With GNX, Kendrick Lamar demonstrates his ability to surprise, innovate, and captivate. The album not only solidifies his legacy but also sets the stage for an electrifying year ahead in music and culture.

Mustard Laughs At McDonald’s Post Over New K.Dot Shout Out

Mustard laughs out loud over McDonald’s involvement in his name trending across social media after Kendrick Lamar’s catchy shout-out on GNX. The fast-food giant would poke fun at the producer on Friday (Nov. 22) with a tweet that promoted an altered sauce packet titled, “Honey MUSTARRRRRRRRRDDDDD.” This is about Kendrick beginning the GNX cut “tv off,” produced by Mustard, by yelling the producer’s name. “MUSSSSTTTAARRRRRDDDDD,” yells Kendrick Lamar as the beat drops saying “Mustard on the beat, ho.”

Mustard couldn’t believe McDonald’s tweet and responded with “OMG” as he retweeted it. The producer has been resharing various fan-made posts since the song was released with the album. With clever promotion ads, fast-food brands have been heavily involved in hip-hop in 2024. During the beef between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole, many brands took the opportunity to promote their products with posts inspired by catchphrases. Mustard joined in the beef with his involvement in Kendrick’s “Not Like Us.”

Social media has coined Kendrick’s shout-out as the producer’s new production tag. YG created the producer’s original production tag. On GNX, Mustard joins Los Angeles’ biggest and emerging stars with features by Roddy Ricch, AzChike, Lefty Gunplay, Terrence Martin, and Peysoh. According to Chart Data, Dijon and Kendrick’s latest collaboration is among the 11 songs from the album occupying the top 10 on the U.S. Apple Music chart.

Kendrick’s new album has many disses toward Drake. The new release follows Mustard trolling the 6 God at last week’s Camp Flog Gnaw Festival in Los Angeles. The DJ would fake the crowd with the start of Drake’s “Crew Love” before immediately transitioning to “Like That,” the track that initially began the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Before the transition, Mustard would yell out “Sike” as the beat dropped for “Like That.” Mustard and Drake’s beef continued after “Not Like Us,” with Drizzy trolling Mustard by following the producer’s ex-wife on social media.

Joe Budden Says He’d Never Forgive Future If He Was Drake

Joe Budden discussed Drake’s relationship with Future during the latest episode of his podcast, admitting that if he were in the Toronto rapper’s shoes, he’d never forgive Future for siding with Kendrick Lamar and Metro Boomin in their recent feud with him. Budden explained that while he’d love to hear more collaborations between the two, he’s fine with them never repairing their relationship.

“I’m not gonna lie to y’all. If I’m Drake, it’s up for life. Forever and ever and ever. I’m never working with none of you. I don’t think that’s gonna happen,” Budden said of Drake and Future. From there, he agreed that’s he’s cool with the two never working together because they’ve already made enough great music. “As a selfish fan, I’m cool either way,” he said.

Kendrick Lamar’s Alleged Ex Nitty Scott Reveals Why “GNX” Gives Her Flashbacks

Yesterday, Kendrick Lamar shocked fans and critics alike by dropping an entire new album, GNX. The project quickly became one of the biggest topics on social media, as countless users shared their reactions to it. Of course, these have been mixed, but the album has been generally well-received so far. Most listeners agree that this was yet another unexpected and impressive move on Kendrick’s part. Others are having a difficult time listening to it, though it may not be for the reasons one would expect.

Earlier today, Kendrick’s alleged ex-girlfriend Nitty Scott took to Instagram to share what appears to be her reaction to the surprise drop. Unfortunately, she admits that she can’t listen to any of Kendrick’s music without being reminded of an old toxic partner. According to her, the partner tried to ban her from listening to the Compton rapper in the car. “I can’t listen to kendrick without having flashbacks of when my ex tried to ban me from playing him in the car [crying emojis]. IYKYK! that mf bring out the insecurity in EVERYBODY.”

Nitty Scott Recalls Toxic Ex Trying To Ban Her From Listening To Kendrick Lamar In The Car

This wasn’t the first time people close to Nitty Scott tried to create ample distance between the two artists, however. In 2015, she appeared on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning, where she recalled her relationship with Kendrick. “That was my boo. I was seeing him and him only for at least a year,” she explained at the time.

“The people that were in charge of my career in the past, that was a relationship that they were not comfortable with,” she continued. “I think that’s out of pocket already simply because I don’t think your personal relationships should be determined by people you are involved with professionally. But that is what really made it so that it couldn’t flourish just because I was told that was not a good look.”
