Drake Shocks Fans By Allegedly Admitting To Being Forced To Tour By Live Nation

No matter how close or distant you are from a former prospective partner, never think that you can’t come up in their tea years down the road. That’s exactly what’s happening to Drake right now, as he found himself in the middle of a social media spat between his supposed ex Jhonni Blaze and her former friend Ghetto Barbie. The latter leaked some alleged text message and voice memo exchanges between Blaze and the Toronto superstar in which he seems to address their past relationship and respectfully draw a line in the sand. However, for hip-hop fans, there was a much more interesting part of these alleged leaked messages.

As you can see in the post below, Drake allegedly hints at the dynamic that he had with Live Nation for his It’s All A Blur tour, first with 21 Savage as a co-headliner and then with J. Cole, plus plenty of special guests. This adds to theories that he either got stuck in a deal that forced him to do these shows, is part of a highly lucrative partnership that is actually beneficial, or somewhere in between. Of course, the most likely scenario is that – if true– The Boy just phrased this text message in this way because of how busy the tour schedule was.

Drake’s Alleged Text Messages With Jhonni Blaze

Still, it raised a lot of eyebrows considering his past lyrics using that word, and it fuels speculation that his moves and releases are contract obligations for corporations and not fully of his own volition. However, is that really such a rarity in the music industry? These dynamics sadly exist for plenty of artists, and we don’t really know for sure how Drake would really characterize his own relationship with Live Nation. As such, maybe this is a case of people holding him to higher standards than they would any other rapper or musician.

The other question is this: why would Drake feel “forced” to tour if it would still make him a lot of money? Why did he allegedly turn down the Super Bowl halftime show twice? We don’t even know if these are legitimate questions, and we probably will never truly know the answer. But it’s interesting to see – at least with a short alleged glance – that the 6ix God might be moving much differently with his business than what many fans assume.

Drake Sued For Trademark Infringement Over Tour Merch: Details

Drake’s “It’s All A Blur” tour is one of the most successful hip-hop treks ever, but it apparently also resulted in some headaches for the team. Moreover, JR Apparel -– the company behind the Members Only brand -– sued his Away From Home Touring company in New York on Tuesday (June 11), according to court documents reportedly obtained by AllHipHop and initial reports from Billboard. The owners of Members Only accused the Texas resident of unlawfully using “Members Only,” which is also the title of one of his For All The Dogs tracks, in a way that could confuse consumers and in which Live Nation and Away From Home failed to obtain the proper licensing.

“Away From Home sold, offered for sale and/or advertised a T-shirt bearing JR Apparel’s Members Only mark on the front of the t-shirt at Drake’s ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’ (the ‘Infringing T-shirt’), including in this judicial district,” JR Apparel’s attorneys expressed, accusing the Toronto superstar of trademark infringement, unfair competition, and trademark dilution. This followed a letter the company reportedly sent Live Nation on April 1 about the alleged infringement. “Between April 3, 2024, and June 6, 2024, JR Apparel and Away From Home attempted to resolve their differences amicably. However, [this achieved] no resolution,” the suit reads.

Drake’s Tour Merch Leads To Trademark Infringement Lawsuit

“The fact that ‘Members Only’ is a song on Drake’s album ‘For All the Dogs’ does not obviate the likelihood of confusion or give Live Nation and/or Drake license to use our client’s MEMBERS ONLY Marks in such a confusing manner, particularly on or in connection with apparel items,” it went on. “Away From Home’s damage and/or injury to JR Apparel is exacerbated by the fact that, upon information and belief, counterfeits, intentionally confusing imitations and/or materially different garments of the Infringing T-shirts are being sold, offered for sale and/or advertised on eBay.”

Furthermore, JR Apparel seeks damages for this alleged trademark infringement and other supposed issues. It specifically asked the court to ban the sale of more merch with “Members Only” on it on Drake’s behalf. This comes at an interesting time in which fans are making their own merch of his beef with Kendrick Lamar and others in the form of a casette tape. Perhaps this will inspire a new merchandising strategy, one that avoids further hiccups in the trademark realm.

Drake & His Pettiness On Full Display After Walking Out To Future Track At His Show

Drake is currently at war with a whole lot of artists. At this point, it seems as though everyone has turned against him. Metro Boomin, Future, Kendrick Lamar, and even Rick Ross are out here taking shots at him. Overall, this has proven to be very entertaining for hip-hop fans. The last time Drake was battle-tested, it was 2018 and Pusha T was making massive revelations about the superstar’s life. Now, however, he is going up against Kendrick, and there is a real chance he could lose here. No one knows what’s coming, and the anticipation is mounting.

The artist had some shows over the weekend, and you can imagine just how eager fans were to see his reactions to everything. Well, he decided to get a bit petty at his most recent concert. In the footage below, you can see that he came out to the Future song “My Savages.” It was an interesting choice, but given Future’s recent diss, it came as a bit of a shock. That said, if you know how petty Drake is, then this was just another move that signals how the artist plans on handling the situation.

Drake At His Latest Show

In the comments section over on DJ Akademiks’ post, some theorized that this could all be promotion for What A Time To Be Alive 2. “They dropping a collab album this just the marketing,” one person wrote. “Imagine this all just promotion for WATTBA2,” said another. Others claimed that Drake is a masterful tactician, who is always a few steps ahead of the others. “Drake playing chess they playing checkers,” they wrote.

Let us know what you think of the feud between Drake and Future, in the comments section below. Do you think Drizzy is going to drop some sort of track? Will he try to go after Kendrick Lamar first? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Drake Tour 2023: Dates, Tickets & More

As promised, Drake is finally ready to hit the road again for his 2023 tour. In March, the “Search & Rescue” rapper announced the It’s All A Blur tour alongside his Her Loss collaborator, 21 Savage. It marks his first tour in five years since hitting the road with the Migos for the Aubrey & The Three Migos tour. However, since the tour announcement, there have been several changes to the itinerary, including re-scheduled dates and additional shows to accommodate the high demand. Nonetheless, the upcoming tour is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated events of the year. Following the announcement of new tour dates, we broke down everything you need to know about Drake and 21 Savage’s 2023 tour, including cities, dates, and more.

Where Will Drake Perform On The 2023 Tour?

Drake’s forthcoming tour will solely serve the North American market, for now. In support of Her Loss, Drake and 21 Savage will perform in 28 cities across America and Canada across 54 dates, beginning in Memphis, TN on June 29th. The tour will continue from July to October as they hit major markets including multiple shows in New York City (4), Los Angeles (2), Chicago (2), Inglewood (4), Detroit (2), and back-to-back dates in their respective hometowns of Toronto and Atlanta.

Due to the overwhelming demand, they’ve not only added dates but rearranged their concerts. Drake and 21 Savage initially planned to launch their tour in New Orleans, followed by dates in Nashville, Houston, Dallas, Miami, and Atlanta from June 16th, 2023 to July 2nd, 2023. Now, they’ve been pushed back to September, while cities like Memphis, TN, and Colombus, OH have now been added to the tour date.

When Do Drake Tickets Go On Sale?

Tickets for the Drake tour went live the week that he announced the shows. However, with new shows in Memphis (June 29), Columbus (July 1), Brooklyn (July 21), Milwaukee (August 3), Inglewood (August 16), Glendale (September 6), Denver (September 8), Austin (September 11), Charlotte (September 22), Nashville (October 1), and Toronto (October 5 & 7), tickets go live this week.

A CashApp card pre-sale went live on Wednesday, April 26th, 2023 at 12 p.m. The following day, Thursday, April 27th, 2023, Sprite and Chase Bank will also launch a pre-sale. Similarly, Live Nation also has a pre-sale event on April 27th (access code: VINYL). Tickets for the general public will be available on Friday, April 28th at noon, local time, through Ticketmaster and DrakeRelated.com.

Otherwise, fans could purchase tickets from StubHub. The ticket resale company ensures that each order is delivered to the buyer through the StubHub FanProtect Program. Be warned, though: purchasing from a reseller could lead to higher ticket prices than Ticketmaster.
