Newly Announced PlayStation 5 Pro Pricing is … Expensive!

image

Blame inflation. Nah, we’re joking; inflation is really low right now. But anyway, Sony officially unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro, a powerful mid-generation upgrade with significant improvements over the current PS5. According to PlayStation system architect Mark Cerny, the PS5 Pro features a GPU with “67% more Compute Units” and “28% faster memory,” bringing it close to “doubling the power of the PS5” and making it the “most powerful console” Sony has ever released. However, this power comes with a hefty price tag of $700—excluding a disc drive and vertical stand, which are sold separately.

Seven Hundred cash. Sheesh.

Get this: The price has sparked widespread frustration among fans, with many citing concerns over the lack of standout titles, diminishing returns on technology, and the current state of the economy.

Some argue that, when adjusted for inflation, the price isn’t unusually high for a gaming console.

Guessing those people don’t eat ramen regularly.

Yet, this comparison doesn’t account for rising living costs and stagnant wages. As the article notes, “When housing alone costs double and what we’re earning is 75% less valuable, what we do with our money becomes even more precious.”

Moreover, while some gamers may feel the price is justified, others are questioning whether the PS5 Pro is worth the investment. Those interested can preorder the console ahead of its November 7 release.

Either way, the sticker price is not for the faint of heart.

Screen Shot 2024 09 12 at 3.03.13 PM

That didn’t take long. DJ Akademiks went right to socials to troll Kendrick Lamar dropping his untitled song on 9/11.

ICYMI it was not a clear cut diss at Drake but he definitely took some shots at the social media head talking community.

But the Akademiks wasn’t really for the innuendos and just said what was on his mind in his tweet.

The tweet was posted on ‘X’ (former Twitter).

Engagement was solid.

Presidential Debate: Trump Goes Full On Weird Falsely Claiming Immigrants Are “Eating the dogs … Eating the Cats”

image

If you caught the most important debate in a generation then you probably noticed Trump wasn’t all the way there. The former President spewed unfounded and inflammatory conspiracy theories, in typical Trumpy fashion. Here’s what he said, among many, many weird things … He claimed that Haitian immigrants were eating the pets of American citizens.

Eating the pets, he said. Eating YOUR pets. Can’t make this up.

He felt the need to say this wild claim as he criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and the Biden administration’s handling of immigration.

Trump’s remarks, made on the national stage, hurling these crazy claims and accusing immigrants – naturally, without evidence – of killing and consuming cats and dogs, yes, that part echoes seriously harmful stereotypes.

But racism is a thing. And Trump’s been accused of it. Time and time again.

Get this, the baseless rumor appears to have originated online, as all things do in this day and age. Actually it was on a Facebook group in Springfield, Ohio. Local authorities have denied any truth to the claims, with Springfield’s city manager stating that there is no credible evidence to suggest such incidents have occurred.

Check this out, unlike the CNN debate between Trump and Biden, there was some fact checking going on last night, in real time.

ABC moderator David Muir quoted local officials who found no proof to support these alarming accusations.

Womp, womp.

However, Trump doubled down:

“What they have done to our country by allowing these millions and millions of people to come into our country… look at what’s happening to towns all over the United States. A lot of towns don’t want to talk about it because they’re so embarrassed by it in Springfield.” He went on to claim, “They’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there, and this is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.”

Wild.

Following the debate, which many pundits and journalist on both sides of the aisle felt Kamala handedly won, disavowed the remarks.

Many Democrats, including Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, condemned Trump’s vile lies.

Ellison said: ”The baseless claim that Haitian immigrants in Ohio are eating pets is not only a lie, it’s a racist lie designed to dehumanize Haitian immigrants as savages, which Trump does all the time.”

Trump’s ramblings at the debate are a pattern of fear-mongering and misinformation in political discourse. But he’s no stranger to it. This time around, there was a candidate standing opposite him ready for his nonsense, a credit to Vice President Harris who was clearly the only stable politician on that stage.

SOCIALizing: Post on ‘X’ Highlights 30 Artists Who Warned Trump Against Using Their Music Without Authorization

image

It’s wild how the Trump campaign continually tries to get away with using unauthorized music from major artists. It’s almost like he or those in his campaign making those decisions to blast hit records at those rallies, just don’t care about well, permission.

Here’s a snapshot we pulled off ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) from user @sfpelosi, that shows the long, growing list of artists, bands and musicians who have warned Trump’s team and, filed a cease and desist or even gone as far as suing him. The user actually forgot the Isaac Hayes estate, that is suing Trump for millions over the unauthorized use of “Hold On, I’m Coming” but we ain’t forget.

Anyway, the caption was cute:

“Listen up babe, new playlist just dropped”

Check it out, it has 137K likes, 4K comments and 21K retweets.

Drake Allegedly Shades The Weeknd in 100 gigs Content Clip

image

Maybe that Toronto turmoil between Drake and The Weeknd is starting to make more sense. After the second round of Drake’s archived “100 Gigs” collection, it appears to show a backstage moment from the 2013 OVO Fest. Drake is seen enthusiastically greeting members of The Weeknd’s XO crew but noticeably neglects to acknowledge The Weeknd himself, leading to speculation about a possible issue.

A ha. The plot thickens.

Get this, the video continues, and Abel Tesfaye, that’s The Weeknd’s government name btw, is seen twisting his lip and looking visibly irritated. At one point, Drake is seen telling a story about Kanye West, Don C, and Virgil Abloh’s appearance at the festival, after which he appears to offer a quick dap to The Weeknd before the clip abruptly ends.

And Drake leaks this. Diabolical LOL. But what the content does not show is why. And there’s three sides to every story and the third side is usually the truth.

Fans quickly jumped into the chat, “Oh so he ignored him after he used him for one of his best albums? Great, you been a snake.” Another added, “Drake a slimey guy. Peep how he cut the footage immediately after he acknowledged The Weeknd and was about to dap him up.”

More from the peanut gallery: “Drake gonna dap everyone but The Weeknd and talk extremely close to him but act like all beef is due to jealousy,” one user noted. Another remarked, “Ya’ll talking about a man who stole songs from The Weeknd around this time. “Take Care” was only possible because of Abel. Period. He knew what Drake was then and knows what he is now.”

Wild all around if you ask us but it is what it is.

On ‘Club Shay Shay’ John Cena Drops His Mt. Rushmore of Rap: “We All Have Our Favorites”

image

Bet you didn’t know John Cena dropped a Hip Hop album that went platinum. We didn’t have that on our bingo cards.

So in a recent appearance on “Club Shay Shay”, WWE superstar turned actor John Cena opened up about his early connection to rap music, describing it as an act of rebellion during a time when he craved more attention in his household.

“I was one of five boys, and I had a lot of angst with how the household was being run. I was a rebel. That music found me at the right time,” Cena shared to Shannon.

Like many young kids who loved real rap music, Cena was drawn to intricate wordplay, poetic bars, and lyrics that provoked deep thought. He revealed that even a powerful social justice anthem like N.W.A.’s “F”ck The Police,” though intense, resonated with him on a personal level. Interesting …

“To a 13-year-old kid, the police are my parents, and it was me who was like, ‘Well, f—k that,” Cena explained to Shannon Sharpe during the interview.

Onto the heavyweights … Cena also discussed his top influences in rap, listing Rakim, Eminem, Jay-Z, and Nas as his personal “Mount Rushmore of rap.”

“So for me, Jay-Z, Eminem, Nas, and Rakim. Man, Rakim’s voice. Everyone has their bias. I know that list is obviously going to incite riots. We all have our bias. We all have our favorites. That’s what makes music special. That’s what makes creativity special. I was brought up in the East Coast boom bap. I love wordplay, I love poetry. That’s what I based my character on, so I think all that’s super clever, and that’s my list,” Cena said.

Get this, Cena has been widely credited with introducing hip-hop to the WWE, a company that was traditionally seen as a rock and roll domain. Reflecting on this, Cena recalled, “They didn’t have any depth of field for hip-hop, and I listened to my own music being like: ‘I could do better than this.’ I called up a friend who knew a friend who had a studio. We got some beats and we made an album. And that was it, that was it.”

About that album, “You Can’t See Me”, remains Cena’s only music release, but it made an impact, debuting at number 15 on Billboard’s 200 list. Cena cited athletes like Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, who also dabbled in music, as influences on his own musical career.

ICYMI, Cena has announced his impending retirement from WWE, marking the end of an era for the superstar who not only excelled in the ring but also brought hip-hop into the wrestling spotlight.

Onto bigger and better, primarily Hollywood we’re sure and more.

SEE IT: First Trailer for Tyler Perry’s WWII Netflix Film ‘The Six Triple Eight’ Lands Starring Kerry Washington

image

Netflix has released the first trailer for Tyler Perry’s upcoming World War II film, “The Six Triple Eight”. The film, written and directed by Perry, is based on the true story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the first and only all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit to serve overseas during the war.

Let’s make no mistake, the WACs were vital to the war effort. The most important war this country ever fought. That part.

Leading the charge is Kerry Washington starring as Major Charity Adams, the battalion’s commanding officer. It’s an ensemble cast that includes Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, and Kylie Jefferson, among others, with appearances by Susan Sarandon, Dean Norris, and Oprah Winfrey.

“The Six Triple Eight” tells the story of these unsung heroes who overcame racism, sexism, and grueling working conditions to serve their country. Despite facing numerous obstacles, they were determined to deliver hope and shatter barriers.

Here’s the official rundown:

“THE SIX TRIPLE EIGHT is inspired by the first and only Women’s Army Corps unit of color to serve overseas in WWII. Despite facing racism and sexism – and grueling working conditions – they were committed to serving their country with honor and distinction. Given an extraordinary mission and united in their determination, these unsung heroes delivered hope and shattered barriers.”

Behind the camera the film is produced by Perry alongside Nicole Avant, Angi Bones, and others, the film will feature an original song titled “The Journey” by Diane Warren, performed by H.E.R., with choreography by Debbie Allen. “The Six Triple Eight” is set for a limited theatrical release on December 6, followed by a Netflix premiere on December 20.

Sounds like an important story. Let’s see how Perry tells it.

After Ludacris Drinks Glacier Water in Alaska, Scientist Says He’ll Be Fine

image

ICYMI, Ludacris caused a stir online when he posted a video of himself drinking untreated water from an Alaska glacier.

I think what’s really funny is how he was dressed like he just popped out for a cook out on a 65 degree spring day with a varsity jacket, jeans etc. Ge said he had on ice cleats but dude was on a GLACIER. Like, c’mon.

Anyways …

Fans expressed concern that he could contract the parasite giardia, which can cause serious illness.

Yikes. But scientist-ing by tweet ins’t so scientific tbh.

Okay here’s the SCIENCE behind giardia. Symptoms of giardiasis can be serious. They include diarrhea, stomach cramps and dehydration. Ick. Then it can spread from one person to another. This happens through contaminated water, food and or surfaces. The Centers for Disease Control Prevention aka the CDC, remember those folks that fought for us during the pandemic, suggests people should avoid swallowing water while swimming and always boiling it or filter the water from lakes, springs or rivers before drinking it to prevent getting sick with well, giardia.

However, glaciologist Martin Truffer from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks dismissed these worries, calling the concerns “ludicrous.” Ha. See how he did that.

Truffer explained that drinking water from a melt stream on a glacier is one of the cleanest sources of water available. Gotcha.

“He’s totally fine,” Truffer said, adding, “There’s just really no concern on these glacial streams about safety.”

Ludacris, who was in Alaska to perform at the state fair, described the glacier water as “the best tasting water I’ve ever had in my life.” Is that right?

The rapper explored Knik Glacier and later joked about being a “water snob” in a video before his Minneapolis concert.

While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advise against drinking untreated water from natural sources due to risks like giardia, Truffer assured that glacier water is exceptionally pure. Well, let’s decide for ourselves.

Giardia from untreated glacier water, or nah?
