Smokey Robinson, While Spilling About Past And Present ‘Gasms,’ Revealed His Affair With Diana Ross

Smokey Robinson, as part of the promotional circuit for his new album, Gasms, is now spilling on a past affair he had with Diana Ross decades ago. It went on for “about a year,” according to his new interview with The Guardian, while Robinson was married to Claudette Rogers.

“I was married at the time. We were working together and it just happened,” he said. “But it was beautiful. She’s a beautiful lady, and I love her right till today. She’s one of my closest people. She was young and trying to get her career together. I was trying to help her. I brought her to Motown, in fact. I wasn’t going after her and she wasn’t going after me. It just happened.”

“After we’d been seeing each other for a while, Diana said to me she couldn’t do that because she knew Claudette, and she knew I still loved my wife. And I did. I loved my wife very much,” Robinson added. “You asked me what happened when we get older, and we get wisdom in life. I learned that we are capable of loving more than one person at the same time.”

While Robinson and Rogers ultimately separated, with the singer getting remarried in 2002, fans are still shocked by his reveal — and why it happened now.

“Smokey Robinson is 83 & felt the need to let us know he slept with Diana Ross. That probably was like in the 70’s,” one user wrote, complete with the crying emoji.

Tame Impala And Diana Ross ‘Turn Up The Sunshine’ In Their New Single From The ‘Minions 2’ Soundtrack

The world was given yet another intergenerational fantasy collaboration today in the form of “Turn Up The Sunshine,” starring the legendary Diana Ross and multi-talented Tame Impala. The uplifting track is loaded with a myriad of instruments, a huge chorus, and an opportune, palpable brightness that is well-timed for the impending summer. The Sun reported on the record last fall after a conversation with someone from Ross’s team, and it is now known that “Turn Up The Sunshine” is the lead single from the upcoming soundtrack for Minions: The Rise Of Gru.

“Turn Up The Sunshine” features songwriting contributions from Jack Antonoff, who is responsible for producing the entire album, in addition to Sam Dew, Patrik Berger, and the man behind Tame Impala, Kevin Parker. The seventies-inspired soundtrack will also feature HER, Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Thundercat, RZA, and Caroline Polachek, some of which will be trying their hand at covering classic songs from the disco era.

This release follows Diana Ross’ 2021 album Thank You, the 25th in her catalog, lead by the single “I Still Believe.” Tame Impala released The Slow Rush B-Sides & Remixes in February of this year featuring Lil Yachty, Blood Orange, Maurice Fulton, and more.

Tame Impala And Diana Ross Seemingly Have A Star-Studded Album Coming Out Soon

A few months ago, it was reported that Tama Impala and Diana Ross (aka one of the best lead singers of all time) were working on a new song together, with a source telling The Sun at the time, “Diana might be 77 but she is determined to push musical boundaries and challenge herself. She loves reinvention and melting genres together. She’s really excited to work with Tame Impala and is ecstatic with the track — she can’t wait for fans to hear it.”

Now it appears the two got along so well that they’ve actually made an entire collaborative album.

NME reports that some posters started showing up in London over the weekend which seem to tease a full-length project from Ross and Tame Impala. The colorful poster teases something that’s “coming soon,” produced by Jack Antonoff, and that features Tierra Whack, HER, Brittany Howard, Jackson Wang, Bleachers, Phoebe Bridgers, GEM, Heitor Pereira, Weyes Blood, Kali Uchis, Verdine White (of Earth, Wind & Fire), Thundercat, Caroline Polachek, RZA, St. Vincent, Gary Clark Jr., and Brockhampton.

This comes after Ross released Thank You, her first album of new original material since 1999’s Every Day Is A New Day, in November 2021. Antonoff and St. Vincent contributed to that project, too.

Two ‘Jeopardy!’ Contestants Expressed Deep Regrets For A Very Awkward Diana Ross Incident

Legendary singer Diana Ross received not one, but two apologies from a pair of very embarrassed Jeopardy! contestants who incorrectly thought the singer is 95 years old. It all went down during a Final Jeopardy! round earlier in the week when host Ken Jennings read the following clue: “In 2021 at age 95, this singer achieved a Guinness World Record for the oldest person to release an album of new material.”

The correct answer is “Who is Tony Bennett?” But that’s not what Karen Johnson and Finn Corrigan went with. According to the New York Post, the contestants both guessed Ross, who for the record is not 95, and has a ways to go until she is. Realizing that they just insulted the singer’s age, Johnson and Corrigan took to Twitter to apologize.

“Deepest apologies to the iconic Diana Ross!” Johnson tweeted. “I didn’t really think you were the answer, but was running out of time and had to put something!”

“Me too!” Corrigan wrote in the replies. “I knew she was not nearly that old but better to write something than nothing. Just glad we’re in this together hahahaha”

In Corrigan and Johnson’s defense, Ross did achieve a Guinness World Record in 1993 for “Most Successful Female Singer of All Time.” So the whole age thing aside, they weren’t entirely wrong for thinking of Ross. As for Tony Bennett, he was just happy to be part of the show. The crooner tweeted a screencap of the Final Jeopardy! clue with the simple caption “Who is… ?”
