DaBaby’s Homophobic Comments Led To The Cancellation Of An Entire Music Festival In Colorado

DaBaby’s bizarre comments from last month’s Rolling Loud festival in Miami have resulted is heavy damage to his career. The rapper has received plenty of criticism from his peers, and while he offered an apology, it was too little too late. Just a week after the Miami festival, the North Carolina native was removed from Lollapalooza’s 2021 festival lineup. Others followed suit, including Governors Ball, Day N Vegas, and Austin City Limits, but none did what a Colorado festival was forced to do on Thursday.

According to 9 News, organizers behind Denver’s KS 107.5 Summer Jam were extremely disappointed by DaBaby’s homophobic comments, and as a result, they were forced to make a tough decision. “In light of various factors, including DaBaby’s recent comments, along with our concert partners, we have chosen to cancel this year’s Summer Jam,” a statement from the festival read. “We look forward to working on Summer Jam lineups for years to come with our love of music and each other.”

While many are still frustrated with DaBaby’s comments, some are looking to educate the rapper about his faults. In an Instagram post, Miley Cyrus tagged him and said she “would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other.” The singer also asked fans to “find forgiveness and compassion.”

Miley Cyrus Offers To Educate DaBaby While Asking Fans To ‘Find Forgiveness and Compassion’ With Him

DaBaby is still facing heavy criticism for his comments at Miami’s Rolling Loud festival last month, where the rapper delivered a bizarre rant filled with insensitive remarks to the LGTBQ community as well as individuals with HIV/AIDS. His words earned him plenty of backlash from fans and fellow artists alike, but one person is using their position to help. In a post to Instagram, Miley Cyrus offered to sit down with DaBaby and educate him about the harm of his comments.

“As a proud and loyal member of the LGBTQIA+ community, much of my life has been dedicated to encouraging love, acceptance, and open mindedness,” she wrote. “It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds. There’s no more room for division if we want to keep seeing progress! Knowledge is power! I know I still have so much to learn.” She added, “would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other and help be part of making a more just and understanding future!”

The singer’s post comes just day after a report from Billboard revealed that DaBaby was dropped from this year’s Lollapalooza festival after he failed to deliver a promised apology video for his comments at the Rolling Loud festival.

DaBaby Was Reportedly Dropped From Lollapalooza After He Failed To Share A Promised Apology Video

DaBaby’s recent homophobic comments brought him a lot more trouble than he might have expected. His insensitive remarks earned him criticism from all over, as well as from fellow artists like Madonna, Dua Lipa, and Elton John. They also got him dropped from a number of festivals, the first being this past weekend’s Lollapalooza. However, according to Billboard, he was given a chance to save himself from being dropped from these festivals, and he failed.

The publication reports that representatives for DaBaby reached out to seven promoters for fall festivals and promised the rapper would share an apology video before he took the stage at Lollapalooza. They specifically said the rapper would share a “heartfelt apology to the LGBTQ+ community.” But he reportedly missed the deadline to share it with festival organizers C3 Presents and Live Nation, which resulted in his removal from Lollapalooza.

In addition to Lollapalooza, DaBaby has been stricken from a number of 2021 festivals, including Governors Ball, Parklife, Day N Vegas, Austin City Limits, and iHeartRadio Music. The new report comes days after the rapper apologized for his “hurtful and triggering comments.”
