Robert Horry Speaks On Being Referenced In Travis Scott’s “Antidote”

“Antidote” is one of Travis Scott’s earliest hits. The second single on his 2015 debut album Rodeo. The song went four-times platinum, with Scott alluding to it as a song for his true fans. “This is for the real fans; the real ragers! This is some vibes for the summer. This isn’t on Rodeo… it’s coming soon,” Scott wrote on Soundcloud. However, due to the popularity of the song, it found its way onto the album. And a good thing that it did, as it helped sparked Travis Scott’s early rise.

“Antidote” peaked at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100, #7 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop, and #1 on Billboard‘s Rhythmic Chart. However, the song also contains a reference to the NBA. In one line, Scott says I just hit a three-peat (Ooh)/ Fucked three hoes I met this week (Robert Horry)”. The line refers to Robert Horry, a 16-year veteran and seven-time NBA champion. Horry began his career in Scott’s hometown of Houston.

Speaking on the All The Smoke podcast, Horry revealed that while he loves the song, it’s done him no favors at home. “My current wife hates this song, [but] I love this song. ‘Don’t you open up that window.’ Yeah, Travis Scott. The three-peat. And my wife, every time she hears it she says: ‘Is there something you need to tell me?’ I’m like, ‘Nah, I didn’t get in trouble.’”

He continued. “I met Travis Scott once. He’s a huge Rockets fan — still is to this day. I met him and almost wanted to say, ‘Why you put me in that song? And what you mean by three-peat three hoes the other week?’” Someone should get the pair of them in a room together so they can hash out the entire meaning behind the song. Gucci Mane Calls For Rappers To Stop ‘Dissin The Dead’ In A New Video

Never one to mince words, Gucci Mane is issuing a directive for fellow rappers to stop speaking ill on the dead. On the new ATL Jacob-produced song, Gucci acknowledges having slandered deceased artists in the past and seems to reconcile with his poor choices of words.

“I know my tongue is a sword / I know I should be more careful with sh** that I said / I feel like I started a trend that’s never gon’ stop / They gon’ keep dissing the dead,” he raps.

Though it’s not clear which works he is referring to in the lyrics, perhaps one of the most obvious songs is a 2012 diss track targeted toward Jeezy called “Truth,” on which, he tells him, “Go dig your partner up, bet he can’t say sh*t.” The “partner” he is referring to is Pookie Loc, whom Gucci shot dead in 2005 after he attempted to rob him.

In the song’s accompanying visual, directed by Omar The Director, Gucci is seen in a graveyard, wearing a hoodie that reads “R.I.P. Trouble,” referring to rapper Trouble, who was allegedly shot and killed by a woman’s scorned ex.

Trouble’s Suspected Killer Turned Himself Into Police And Was Denied Bond

On Sunday, Atlanta rapper Trouble was shot and killed during a home invasion. Now, according to local news, police have a suspect in custody. 33-year-old Jamichael Jones turned himself in after Rockdale County Sheriff’s deputies went to Jones’s mother’s house and she received a call from Jones himself. One of the deputies got on the call and convinced Jones to surrender near Southern Regional Medical Center in Clayton County. He has been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, home invasion, and battery and a judge denied his bond, setting his next hearing for June 15.

According to witnesses, Jones did not know the “Bring It Back” rapper, and Trouble was visiting a woman Jones did know. Apparently, there was some domestic dispute between them, and Trouble was shot once in the chest after Jones forced his way into the home. A neighbor described the neighborhood as “quiet” and said it was “traumatizing” to learn that not only was a national celebrity visiting the apartment building but was killed there as well. “To be honest with you, we don’t have that type of situation or issues that happen in this particular neighborhood, so to find out that you have a local celebrity that’s inside your residential area and this is what happens … it was like very, very traumatizing,” he explained.

Trouble was signed to Mike Will Made-It’s Ear Drummers label and was just two years removed from his last project, Thug Luv.
