“Old Town Road” rapper Lil Nas X is walking on the heavenly path and ensuring that his ‘Satan Shoes‘ are far behind him. Instead, he’s putting his best foot forward with comfortable footwear for the rocky journey.
No, Lil Nas X isn’t rolling out another sneaker. Even if he were, we know, based on Nike’s response to the misguided backlash it received, they probably wouldn’t be open to the idea. No matter, Crocs has opened their designer studio up with open arms. So, how can you buy Lil Nas X’s mega crush clog with Crocs?
According to Crocs’ official website, Lil Nas X’s mega crush clog and the matching $20 5-pack Jibbitz charms (but note that the design does not accommodate charms being inserted into the shoe) are solely available online. Currently, only men’s and women’s sizing are up for grabs on the website. It doesn’t appear that a children’s option was ever listed.
The item retails for $110, well above the brand’s standard pricing model. However, the Lil Nas X’s mega crush clog has several design upgrades, including the inclusion of a faux-shearling exterior as well as a strap for added warmth and increased height of its platform. Just not as the item’s description lists; all finals are final and cannot be returned or exchanged.
Lil Nas X’s mega crush clog by Crocs and Jibbitz charms are available while supplies last. Find more information here.
In 2021, Lil Nas X released a limited-edition sneaker with the viral fashion company MSCHF. Dubbed the ‘Satan Shoes,’ it incorporated actual human blood into the design. Now the “Industry Baby” rapper left his devilish ways behind. Is his new collaboration with Crocs receiving a normal rollout, right? Wrong.
Although the comfort footwear item doesn’t involve blood, Lil Nas X was sure to insert his troll-like tendencies in its promotional video. On Saturday, December 9, he took to his official X page to upload a clip revealing the item. In the video, Lil Nas X makes a few unsubstantiated claims about the shoes’ capabilities.
The comedic infomercial promises that if the wearer is suffering from depression, physical attractiveness, and loneliness, all of these problems will go away once they slip into a pair of Lil Nas X’s Crocs. The wildest of the clip’s insertions was that it could somehow make owners heterosexual if they weren’t already.
Did you ever sit back, look at your feet and think… “How do I make these feet look more Y2K?” Okay maybe not. I understand it’s a bit of a random thought to have, but leave it to the reigning queen of Top Dawg Entertainment to be able to predict that the future was going to be all about the past. Sza x Crocs came together in a legendary collaboration a few months ago to create two signature style ways that look like they came straight from the dawn of the 2000s.
Fashion is cyclical. As time goes forward, we watch as the new generation of consumers with expendable income longs for the nostalgia of the past – and the 2020s are no different. The millennials and Gen Z’ers are longing for the simpler times. The times where all we had to worry about was if our Tamagotchi was alive in between classes, and whether or not the entire computer network grid was going to catastrophically crash at the stroke of the millenia. Sza x Crocs have tapped into that nostalgia with their latest creations.
Now by this time, you may be asking yourself “what do Y2K feet look like exactly” and before we just drop the imagery, we want to try to paint the picture.
Introducing: The Sza X Crocs Collab
The Sza x Croc collab looks like they belonged on the feet of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears as the then couple walked the red carpet of the MTV awards. Does that help? The infamous pair wore even more infamous – and matching – outfits. Are you starting to get the vision? In 2001 JT and Britney made one hell of a statement by showing up in head-to-toe denim suits adorned in Swarovski crystals and acid wash.
The Texas Tuxedo. The Dynamic Duo. Whatever you wanted to call it, denim on denim on denim was the vibes back then, and Sza is grabbing the Delorean and taking us back in time. Available in the traditional clog style is the “Crush” but with a platform style heel for added oomph, or in a dual-strap “Cozzzy” Birkenstock-esque buckle slide version. Both come with ultra soft, faux fur lining for a little added luxury and comfort.
As is tradition with Crocs, the Sza collab also features a collection of Jibbitz (you know, the little charms that you can stick on top for added flair) that come in iconic Y2K styles. Floppy disks, flip phones, puka shells, and macaroni noodles among others.
With the collection coming out a bit before her last album dropped, they’ve been sold out since before they came out, and remain sold out on the official Crocs website. Calling around to local shoe stores in the area that carried Crocs proved the same. They’re near impossible to get your hands on, and your best bet for trying to score a pair is off a website like StockX or Poshmark. Due to the high demand, it’s almost a guarantee that resellers are going to double the original asking price ($75 and $80 respectively).
Who Is Crocs going to collaborate with next?
The recent collaboration marks the second one that Sza x Crocs have embarked on, and considering the success, I can only imagine more will be on the horizon. Crocs has managed to come out of the proverbial mud and transform themselves from a clunky garden shoe meant for digging in the dirt into a high-profile streetwear brand in a way that is almost mind boggling. Not only does their list of artists’ collabs continue to grow, but it manages to cross boundaries and genres to find a place for any and everyone.
From musical powerhouses like Bad Bunny, Sza, Diplo, Post Malone, and Justin Bieber; to high-end fashion houses like Balenciaga, Takashi Murakami and Barney’s New York, the choices Crocs seem to make on their partnerships don’t miss. Each iteration has not only immediately sold out upon release, but has required a lottery system just to get the chance to purchase them.
Like most anomalies in streetwear, the exponentially growing success of Crocs may have a plateau – but at the moment, it seems like the sky’s the limit.
Award-winning artist, Saweetie went to social to announce her latest collaboration with Crocs-Launching her custom icy Jibitz. On Monday, The ‘Tap In’ rapper announced on social that the latest collection would be dropping on Tuesday with the post stating “So excited to announce my custom Icy Jibbitz with @crocs!!” Saweetie captioned her post. “Tap in tomorrow for the drop! #SaweetieXCrocs .” which included a carousel of images of pastel-colored pink and blue crocs dressed up with Jibbitz from the collaboration that consists of Saweetoes signature savings and lyrics like “Tap In” and “Icy Season” which is a spin on her 2018 hit “Icy Grl” as well as snowflakes and butterflies.
Crocs also posted a video of the artist promoting the collection of Saweetie on a floatie in the ocean as she wears her crocs. This is not the first time that Crocs has teamed up with a celebrity in the past they also collaborated with Niki Minaj, Sza, and Post Malone as well as high-end designers like Balenciaga. The collection will be available online at noon EST on Crocs’ official site.
Despite having a slew of inescapably catchy singles under her belt and an album on the way, Saweetie has become just as well-known for her brand partnerships and cast-iron gut over the past few years. So, it should come as no surprise that her latest endeavor combines both for an unlikely, yet fitting collaboration. The Bay Area rapper has teamed up with Crocs, which has increased its visibility thanks to collaborations with Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, and Post Malone, and Hidden Valley Ranch, which she’s been known to slather on her spaghetti, to promote a new pair of the slipper brand’s signature rubber clogs adorned in food-related Jibbitz charms.
No one loves ranch as much as @Saweetie, and no one does ranch better than @HVRanch. Enter our Hidden Valley Ranch X Crocs drawing for your chance to purchase! Quantities are limited.
The Hidden Valley Ranch x Crocs Clogs are off-white-colored and accented with green speckles, drawing a resemblance to the dressing. Each of the Jibbitz charms are based on the items that folks love to dip in their ranch like fries, chicken nuggets, and vegetables. There are nine charms in all, and all are included with the clogs, which will only be available for purchase online through a drawing system. Entry is open from today to Monday, September 20 at 12pm ET. You can also check out Saweetie’s Instagram Story for a link to enter the big-city exclusive sweepstakes to win the shoes and a free pizza (in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York).

The makers of Crocs may want to send Nicki Minaj a gift basket after her most recent Instagram post sent interest in their products skyrocketing per worldwide Google trends. The formerly ridiculed footwear brand has seen its cool quotient increase over the past year as fans post their customized pairs on social media, but Nicki Minaj’s post saw searches for “pink Crocs” shoot up over 100 percent after she posted a nearly nude photo of herself sitting on a desk wearing the comfy foam clogs.
According to MarketWatch, the rise in Crocs’ popularity was likely prompted by both the equivalent rise in comfort styling due to the pandemic and resulting quarantine and the brand’s recent collaborations with pop stars such as Post Malone, who gave free pairs of his collab to students at his old high school and healthcare workers, Bad Bunny, whose collaborative pair glows in the dark, and Justin Bieber, whose Drew House design apparently jump-started the brand’s stock by 11 percent.
It’s safe to say that celebrity endorsements like Nicki’s have brought the brand back from the dead after it nearly declared bankruptcy just a few years ago. Meanwhile, whatever Nicki’s got planned for “F R I D A Y,” you can be sure it’ll stir up its fair share of attention, too.
