NLE Choppa Stands Up For Sexyy Red Against Haters

Despite having a breakthrough year in 2023, Sexyy Red still deals with her fair share of haters. During the BET Awards a few weeks ago she performed and proved that a lot of major names are on her side. Included among them is Nicki Minaj who cosigned her biggest hit “Pound Town” by hopping on the song’s remix “Pound Town 2.” Now she’s got another major ally in NLE Choppa. The rapper has been seeing some of the hate for Red online and came to her defense.

In a tweet posted yesterday, NLE Choppa told fans to think twice before hating. “Y’all don’t know how comments can effect someone everyday life. Keep being you @SexyyRed314_ don’t change for nobody but yourself! You know I’m supporting!” He attached a video to the tweet further explaining his distaste for haters targeting Sexyy Red. Unsurprisingly, some fans weren’t convinced. The comments are full of further debate as to whether or not Sexyy Red has done the right things to avoid the hate.

NLE Choppa Takes On Sexyy Red Haters

NLE Choppa drew attention to another tweet just yesterday. Amid many major artists selling their entire catalogs, Choppa argued that he could sell his for $1 billion. Many fans rushed to point out that even artists with longer and more successful discographies failed to net that much money. It also sparked debate about how and when artists should make decisions to make the sale of all their masters.

NLE Choppa has kept fans satisfied on the musical front as well. Back in April, he released his new album Cottonwood 2. The project has a stacked list of guests providing featured verses. 2Rare, Lola Brooke, Lil Wayne, Fivio Foreign, Kevin Gates, Polo G, G Herbo, Rick Ross, and more all show up in the tracklist. NLE Choppa’s ‘Bar Stories’ For His Single ’23’ Wittily Shows That In Some Cases Less Is More

The day has finally arrived. NLE Choppa’s new album Cottonwood 2 is finally available across streaming platforms. After releasing a string of singles, including “Ain’t Gonna Answer” featuring Lil Wayne and “Do It Again” featuring 2Rare, which both made the final project, the rapper can now sit back and fawn over fans’ reaction to his latest bodywork. But he does, NLE is taking a moment to flex is brag about his lyrical abilities.

Stopping by the UPROXX Studios for a new Bar Stories episode, NLE Choppa gave our very own Cherise Johnson a breakdown behind his Tay Keith-produced track, “23,” off new project Cottonwood 2 out now.

The bar up for dissection, “Call me, ‘Booty’/ I’ll shake something.” As the rapper adds in a sturdy hand clap to emphasize the line, he boldly declares that this was in fact “the most iconic line in 2023,” because it could take on several meanings as an under-appreciated double entendre.

The Memphis native doubles down on his point saying when it comes to witty rap lyrics, “Less is more.” Although there isn’t one specific moment that inspired the line per se, NLE made it clear that his entire career thus far could be summarized by that one line.

NLE Choppa’s “Cottonwood 2” Album Is Here, Featuring Kevin Gates, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, And More

Another New Music Friday (April 14) is upon us, and though two of the biggest releases of the week came from female artists like Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat, we’ve got plenty of male entertainers to give flowers too as well today. Among them is NLE Choppa, whose follow-up to his 2019 project, Cottonwood, arrived on DSPs at midnight. On the original, 10-track effort, the Memphis native worked with just Blueface and Meek Mill, but this time around, his roster of collaborators has become considerably more impressive.

Of course, we’ve already heard Choppa work with 2Rare on their “DO IT AGAIN” single, and he came together with rap legend Lil Wayne on “AIN’T GONNA ANSWER” ahead of Cottonwood 2 as well. Aside from those, the release’s other singles include “MO UP FRONT,” “IN THE UK,” and “CHAMPIONS.” There was also “SLUT ME OUT,” which landed the 20-year-old in some hot water after dog walking Sukihana and Sexyy Red in the accompanying remix’s visual earlier this month.

NLE Choppa Shines in the “TALK DIFFERENT” Music Video

As for previously unheard joint efforts, the 22-track album boasts “COLD GAME” with Rick Ross, “ON GOD” featuring Queen Naija,” and “DISABILITY CHECKS” alongside Polo G and G Herbo. Other noteworthy guests tapped by Choppa are Duke Deuce, Kevin Gates, Fivio Foreign, Lola Brooke, and Modesty. We also hear some impressive solo work from the rising star on his latest release, including titles like “ALL I KNOW,” “PRETTY BROWN,” and “THUG IT OUT.”

NLE Choppa Reveals “Cottonwood 2” Tracklist

NLE Choppa has revealed the tracklist for Cottonwood 2 on his Instagram. The album is the rapper’s sophomore full-length effort. The 20-year-old rapper is still fairly new to the industry, but he has already made waves in a lot of ways. Choppa has made headlines for his strange statements online. They range from disrespectful to downright weird. A lot of this can likely be chalked up to his age, but his seniors are schooling him nonetheless. Even Nicki Minaj dragged him as part of her beef with Latto.

NLE Choppa hails from Memphis, Tennessee. He has garnered significant attention in the music industry since gaining widespread recognition with his breakout hit “Shotta Flow” in 2019. Since then, NLE Choppa has been diligently building his career, earning a dedicated fan base and a strong presence on social media. NLE Choppa has also made strategic collaborations with established artists, showcasing his versatility and potential for long-term success. Most recently, the rapper released a much-anticipated collaboration with Lil Wayne. Now, he’s gearing up to release Cottonwood 2.

New Album Features Kevin Gates, Rick Ross, and More

Choppa’s sophomore album, Cottonwood 2, is due out this Friday. Today, the rapper revealed the tracklist for the album on his Instagram. It’s an extremely long album at 22 tracks, and there are plenty of exciting features. Some of the songs have already been released, like Choppa’s collab with Lil Wayne. However, fans still have plenty to look forward to, like “Habits,” which features Kevin Gates and “Cold Game” with Rick Ross.

There were mixed reactions from fans in his comment section. Some were excited about the new songs, but others pointed out that most of them had already been released. “I mean half are already released added onto it to gain more plays,” said one. “I respect the grind but I’m still hyped for it.” Some pointed out the absence of any tracks named “Shotta Flow.” Choppa had previously released many tracks with the name, simply adding new numbers to each one. NLE Choppa And Sexyy Red’s ‘Slut Me Out’ Remix Is Even More Graphic Than The Original

We are about a week out from NLE Choppa‘s much anticipated new album, Cottonwood 2. Ahead of the album, the Memphis-bred rapper has shared the remix to the steamy fan favorite, “Slut Me Out.”

On the remix, Choppa is joined by up-and-coming St. Louis rapper Sexyy Red, who adds even more NSFW flavor than that of the original.

We’d dive deep into the lyrics, but none of them are really safe to print. But at one point in the song, Choppa notes that he’s ready to do it “at the church, on the plane, or at the basketball game.”

Perhaps the most NSFW line is when Sexyy Red owns her sexuality, rapping, “You’re last b*tch was a lame, though / Big sexy, you f*cking with a big ho / We can do whatever, see ya before I go.”

In the song’s accompanying video, Choppa and Redd are seen partying in Miami, doing some bumping and grinding in the studio, and dancing surrounded by bikini-clad women near the beach. Rapper Sukihana makes an appearance in the video.

NLE Choppa & Lil Wayne’s Collaboration “Ain’t Gonna Answer” Finally Arrives

NLE Choppa is preparing to usher in a new chapter in his career with Cottonwood 2. However, he’s enlisted some help from Lil Wayne. This morning, the Memphis rapper came through with some classic Cash Money vibes on his new single, “Ain’t Gonna Answer,” an ode to the Father & Son relationship between Lil Wayne and Birdman. NLE Choppa updates “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy” with Wayne’s stamp of approval, turning the record into a bouncy, energetic anthem.

The new single comes nearly a month after it was initially announced. In February, NLE Choppa shared a video of himself finally meeting Lil Wayne with a bouquet of flowers, a skateboard, and a handwritten note. The “CHOPPA FLOW” star explained to Wayne how much he meant to him growing up, which reflects his lyrics in the song. “From the city of Memphis, known for mackin’ and pimpin’/ but I’m a Hot Boy, can’t lie, I got some Weezy up in me,” NLE Choppa raps in the first verse.

NLE Choppa Unites With Lil Wayne Ahead Of New Album

In the note NLE Choppa gave Wayne, he described the Louisiana native as one of the top three figures in his life, alongside Kobe Bryant and 2Pac. However, he hoped to form a mentorship relationship through their collab. ”I simply wanted to physically gift you these flowers to symbolize my appreciation for you as an artist, an icon, and more importantly, an inspiration,” NLE Choppa wrote in the message. “I pray this is the beginning of a big brother and little brother relationship.”

Though the song didn’t come out as intended, it ultimately helped propel the release of “MO UP FRONT.” NLE Choppa later shared a screenshot of a text message he received from the label head, who praised him for his idea to gift Lil Wayne the flowers. In response, Choppa said they needed to have a discussion because he needed a bigger cheque, which seemingly worked out for him. Check out his new single above.

NLE Choppa Manifests A Lifelong Dream With Lil Wayne In Their Video For ‘Ain’t Gonna Answer’

Over the past few months, NLE Choppa has been dropping heater after heater ahead of his much-anticipated album, Cottonwood 2. On his latest, “Ain’t Gonna Answer,” Choppa collaborates with his favorite rapper, Lil Wayne, as generations collide and cook up an anthem for the ages.

Over a New Orleans bounce-inspired beat, the Memphis rapper masters the Cash Money flows. On the chorus, he interpolates Birdman and and Lil Wayne’s “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy,” rapping, “Don’t be worried ’bout what we be doing / What we doing making money / What they doing hating on us.”

This transitions smoothly into the post-chorus, where he matches the flow of Juvenile’s “Back That Azz Up,” declaring, “Big booty b*tch, made her back her ass up / Shots out the switch made him bag this man up / Say that she yo b*tch, she my private dancer / You can call her phone, but she ain’t gon’ answer.”

In the video, Choppa and Weezy are seen delivering their verses while surrounded by twerking women. Toward the end, an aspiring rapper hops out of a car to show Choppa — well — some surprising bars.

NLE Choppa Is Gonna Need Some ‘Mo Up Front’ On His New Single

NLE Choppa‘s much-anticipated album, Cottonwood 2 is on the way. Ahead of the album, which is set to arrive this spring, Choppa has dropped a braggadocious new single, “Mo Up Front.”

Over a rattling percussion beat, he is fully aware of his rap superstardom, making it known that if he plans to make any sort of appearance, he’s going to need people to pay up.

“Tell ‘em that I know money / used to getting dope money / Now I’m getting show money / I need some mo up front,” raps Choppa on the song’s chorus.

In the song’s accompanying visual, he is seen on an opulent jewelry shopping spree, then later, throwing around cash.

In addition to spending money, Choppa has also spent a lot of time giving back to his community. Last month, he organized a fundraiser for the family of Tyre Nichols, who died at the hands of police officers in his hometown of Memphis. He has also been seen visiting schools across the country, encouraging students to stay in school.

NLE Choppa’s ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ’23’ Is A Step Back Into His Musical Start

NLE Choppa may have begun fortifying his physical health thanks to herbology and spiritual well-being seen in his recent peaceful protest. Still, the Memphis native remains true to his musical roots. The last few years have been good to the musician, as he’s managed to be featured on 50 Cent’s television show Raising Kanan theme song, and he’s hinted at potentially working with rap’s newest it girl, Ice Spice.

For now, the rapper is focused on ironing out his plans for 2023, starting with a new project titled Cottonwood 2. The lead single from the project, “23,” produced by Tay Keith, is a taste of what’s to come.

On Instagram, Choppa shared on the project he is looking to dive further into the theme of rebirth, writing, “Death to what no longer serves you,” he said. “Death to old cycles. Death to old/bad habits. Death to friendships/relationships. Death to the simplest thing like my hair. Death to everything holding back the new.”

NLE Choppa Honors The ‘Champions’ Of His Hometown On His New Single

In the midst of turmoil in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, rapper NLE Choppa remains proud of the strength the city has displayed. On his new single, “Champions,” Choppa honors the people of Memphis, and encourages them to keep fighting and being resilient.

“I hate to struggle but it make me harder / I made it far but I wanna go farther / This not for me / This for my son and my daughter / My family tree in that order,” he raps on the track.

The track arrives shortly after Choppa led a peaceful protest in the city in support of Tyre Nichols, who died in Memphis at the hands of five police officers. Days later, Choppa revealed that he plans to start a foundation to support members of Nichols’ family.

In a statement accompanying the release of “Champions,” Choppa said the song is one of his favorite songs he’s ever recorded.

“I feel like this song can speak volumes to us [with motivation], but really resonate with those who don’t know what life has for them,” he said.

The song precedes Choppa’s upcoming album, Cottonwood 2, which is set to arrive this spring.
