Outkast Getting Special Collectable Statue For “Aquemini” 25th Anniversary

The entire world of hip-hop has been celebrating the genre’s 50th anniversary all year. Numerous award shows have taken the opportunity to bring together rappers both old and new for group performances highlighting the entire history of the genre. There have also been a number of special events and entirely unique live shows, many of which are put on by Mass Appeal. The company has also been releasing a series of EPs highlighting the genre’s history through the point of view of producers.

Now, Mass Appeal is teaming up with Outkast to celebrate two anniversaries. Not only is it the 50th anniversary of hip-hop but also the 25th anniversary of one of the genre’s most acclaimed albums ever. The Atlanta legends released Aquemini in 1998 to massive critical acclaim. Clearly, there’s still a lot of love for the duo out there and they’re capitalizing on it with a new commemorative collectible statue. “The 15-pound statue incorporates elements from all of Outkast’s classic albums and features two replaceable heads for Andre 3000 and Big Boi,” the caption reads. The statue is selling for $550 with a special autographed edition going for $750. Check out the announcement post below.

Outkast Share New Statue In Collaboration With Hip Hop 50

This isn’t the first thing Outkast did to celebrate Aquemini‘s 25th anniversary. Earlier this month they shared a psychedelic new animated music video for the album’s beloved deep cut “SpottieOttieDopalicious.” The video proved that there’s still plenty of interest in Outkast as it’s racked up over 120k views since it first dropped.

That love for the duo was also on display earlier this year when Billboard ranked the greatest rap groups of all time. Right at the very top of the list, they put Andre 3000 and Big Boi and many in the rap world fully agreed with them. What do you think of the new statue of Outkast released to celebrate Hit Hop 50 and Aquemini‘s 25th anniversary? Let us know in the comment section below.

Dr. Dre Unveils “The Chronic” Collectibles For 30th Anniversary

Even with his controversies in mind, Dr. Dre’s impact on hip-hop, from before N.W.A. all the way to today, continues to shake its foundation. Decades after its release, publications still call a song like “Still D.R.E.” the best rap beat of all time. Now, for the 30th anniversary of his classic album The Chronic, some rare collectibles will now be available for purchase to fans. Moreover, the first drop consists of session tape prints, the session boxes themselves with the master tapes, and four exclusive skate decks. According to a press release obtained by HipHopDX, these items will be available to the public for the first time in history. “The Chronic Masters” collection is a series of drops in collaboration with Interscope and Trophy,” the release reportedly read.

Furthermore, these drops will be up for sale on June 1, and Interscope shared a stylish teaser for them. “On May 20, 1993, @drdre’s single “Fuck wit Dre Day” began its explosion,” the record label captioned its Instagram post announcing the collectibles. “To celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Chronic album, we proudly present The Chronic Masters– a slow-burn series of limited edition releases honoring the timeless legacy of this classic.

Sure, lists alone aren’t the only valid criteria for acclaim, but the fact that his work remains revered for such a long time by fans old and new is impressive. Drake Searches For Rare LeBron James Collectible In New Netflix Series

Drake and LeBron James have quite the solid relationship, but that doesn’t make the latter’s collectibles any easier to find. Moreover, the Toronto rapper appeared on the first episode of the new Netflix series “King Of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch,” which premiered on Friday (April 28). Hosted by auctioneer Ken Goldin, the show revolves around the hunt for sports collectibles, and its first episode is called “Hail to the King.” Along with their teams, Drizzy and Goldin look for a rare Triple Logoman card of the Lakers star, which features each NBA logo for every team he won a championship in. What’s more is that only one exists.

Still, Drake tried his hand at opening a box of unknown sealed cards. During his browse, he found an Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway Logoman card worth $50,000, so that’s at least something. Also, he got cards of other famous basketball players like Isaiah Thomas and Larry Bird. The 6 God even found a very rare card featuring Michael Jordan. Despite his best efforts and trying to get lucky, Lebron James’ Triple Logoman card was nowhere to be found. For sports fans, the 36-year-old’s bad luck is something fans often pin their losses on.

Drake On The Hunt For Rare LeBron James Card In New Netflix Series

For example, Toronto Raptors fans blamed Drake for the team losing against the Chicago Bulls, thus losing their chance to compete in the playoffs this year. CBS Sports Radio‘s Pat Boyle was one of many to point accursedly at the rapper. He claimed that Drake was to blame for DeMar DeRozan’s daughter screaming during every Raports free throw. “That’s on Drake, really,” Boyle expressed. “If you don’t have Drake and if that doesn’t work the niceties of offering her things to make her stop shrieking, you get physical. You get her out.”

However, that’s not to say that the “Privileged Rappers” MC is always on the unlucky side of sports. In fact, he recently won a $1 million bet after Gervonta Davis beat Ryan Garcia in their much-anticipated boxing match. Given his success, he’s always going to win (or lose) big in the sports game. Whether he finally finds Lebron James’ Triple Logoman card remains to be seen. Regardless, stay posted on HNHH for the latest on Lebron James and Drake.
