Chloe x Halle Fire Off A Soaring Cover Of TLC’s Timeless Track ‘Waterfalls’

It’s been nearly a year since Chloe x Halle released their standout sophomore album Ungodly Hour, but the two are still making sure there’s enough music to go around. They’ve been holding fans over with a number of fun covers, and they’ve now taken a stab at a rendition of TLC’s classic song “Waterfalls.”

Chloe x Halle take the sultry cover as an opportunity to once again showcase their impressive vocal range. “This song speaks so much to who we are as artists and human beings,” the duo said about the song. “We always say music is therapy to us because the lyrics are healing. There’s something about singing these words to yourself—it turns into an encouraging mantra that makes you feel inspired after listening.” This isn’t the first time the duo have covered “Waterfalls.” Back in June of 2020, Chloe x Halle shared a medley of covers to their YouTube page featuring songs by Lauryn Hill, Aaliyah, and TLC, saying they are three artists who have “inspired” them immensely.

Ahead of sharing their rendition of “Waterfalls,” Chloe x Halle have taken on a number of other hit songs. They recently released a moving cover of “Georgia On My Mind” for the 2020 Masters Tournament. Before that, Chloe Bailey took on a cover of Cardi B’s “Be Careful,” Silk Sonic’s “Leave The Door Open,” and Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain.”

Chloe Bailey Dazzles With An Enchanting Cover Of Rihanna’s ‘Love On The Brain’

Last week, Chloe X Halle celebrated the one-year anniversary of “Do It,”, the second and most popular single from their excellent sophomore album, Ungodly Hour. The track became the duo’s most successful song and helped push the Bailey sisters into the mainstream spotlight. Months after they released the single, the once inseparable duo was forced to take some extended time apart as Halle crossed the pond to film her role in Disney’s live-action rendition of The Little Mermaid. All the while, Chloe has been sharing excellent covers of songs. On Sunday she delivered another one.

Chloe returned with a dazzling cover of Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain,” a highlight from the singer’s 2016 album Anti. Chloe delivered her own rendition of the song with only slight alterations, making it her own while not straying too far away from the original. The new cover arrives after she took on Cardi B’s “Be Careful,” a performance that the rapper said left her “smiling from ear to ear.” Chloe also covered Silk Sonic’s “Leave The Door Open,” The Weeknd’s “Earned It,” Giveon’s “Heart Anniversary,” and more.

Chloe Bailey’s Excellent ‘Be Careful’ Cover Left Cardi B ‘Smiling From Ear To Ear’

It’s been a few months since R&B duo Chloe x Halle created separate social media accounts where they both show off their individual personalities and styles. They made the accounts after Halle Bailey flew over to the United Kingdom in order to film her role in Disney’s live-action rendition of The Little Mermaid.

In the meantime, Chloe Bailey has taken advantage of her individual account to showcase her singing talents. The latest example of this came Saturday night when she posted a cover of Cardi B’s “Be Careful” from the rapper’s 2018 album, Invasion Of Privacy.

The cover was met with immediate praise and fans from all over who showed love to the singer for the excellent vocal performance. Chloe’s rendition of “Be Careful” eventually made its way to Cardi B’s eyes, who also had nothing but good words for the singer.

“This is soo beautiful got me smiling from ear to ear and blushing maa hard,” Cardi wrote on Twitter. “You see this how I thought I sounded on the track.”

Chloe’s rendition of “Be Careful” adds to the growing list of covers she’s shared over the past couple of months. She’s tried her hand at Silk Sonic’s “Leave The Door Open,” The Weeknd’s “Earned It,” Giveon’s “Heartbreak Anniversary,” and Yung Bleu’s “You’re Mine Still.”

Halle Bailey’s Etsy Jewelry Shop Completely Sold Out In Just A Few Minutes

Halle Bailey of R&B sister duo Chloe x Halle stays busy. Not only was she Grammy-nominated for their 2020 Ungodly Hour album, but she’s currently living in London while filming the live action remake of The Little Mermaid in which she plays the starring role of Ariel. On top of that, Halle has been making handmade jewelry in the very little free time she has. Halle decided to start selling some of her unique jewelry pieces online, but they were so popular that they sold out in just a few minutes.

It all started when Halle shared a few photos of some of the earrings she has been making for herself, telling her fans that she wanted to start selling some. “been making jewelry for a while but thinking about selling you guys some if you’re interested!!”

Her sister was very on board with the idea. “wow i just love you so much my creative queen,” Chloe responded.

After her original jewelry tweet got some attention, Halle decided to open up an Etsy shop, which she named Hallelujah Jewelry.

The singer opened the shop with 50 items for sale. But because Halle has such a big following, all 50 jewelry pieces sold out in under an hour. “lol guyss they’re sold out already i’m sorry,” she wrote shortly after her Etsy shop opened. “i make them by myself so it will take me some time to do all of these but then i will open it again and restock lol love you guys sm.”

Chloe Bailey Shows Love To Silk Sonic With An Angelic ‘Leave The Door Open’ Cover

Ever since Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars released their side project Silk Sonic‘s debut single “Leave The Door Open,” the track has been everywhere. The duo even brought the sultry single to the Grammys stage for a groovy performance. Now, Chloe Bailey, one half of R&B sister duo Chloe x Halle, has put her own spin on the song.

Chloe x Halle are usually joined at the hip, but Halle is currently in the UK while filming a live action version of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Because of their distance, the two formed separate social media accounts in recent weeks, and Chloe has been enjoying her independence. The singer even broke the internet after participating in a viral “Buss It” challenge.

This time, Chloe opted to showcase her talent by taking on a cover of “Leave The Door Open.” Sharing her version on TikTok, Chloe stripped back the lush single into a piano ballad. The singer took the opportunity to display her powerhouse vocals, hitting high notes during the song’s chorus.

Ahead of Chloe’s cover, the singer was able to virtually attend the 63rd Grammy Awards last week. She and her sister were nominated for three Grammy Awards, including Best Traditional R&B Performance, Best Progressive R&B Album, and Best R&B Song. Even though Chloe x Halle didn’t end up winning in any category, Chloe said she’s “grateful to be on this journey” with her sister.

Chloe x Halle Share A Touching Cover Of ‘Georgia On My Mind’ For The Masters Tournament

Ever since R&B sister duo Chloe x Halle released their breathtaking sophomore Ungodly Hour, the two have taken the music industry by storm. They’ve graced countless late-night talk shows with captivating performances, and were even nominated for three Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song, Best Traditional R&B Performance, and Best R&B Performance. Though they didn’t end up taking home any awards, it still gave the young singers a healthy signal boost. Now returning with new music, the sister duo share a moving cover of “Georgia On My Mind.”

Chloe x Halle’s rendition of the classic ballad puts their powerful vocals on full display. The song was originally recorded to feature in an ESPN commercial ahead of the Masters Tournament, which takes place in Georgia.

In a statement, Chloe x Halle shared their excitement about the cover: “We are happy to be given the opportunity to record our version of the timeless ‘Georgia On My Mind’ for the Masters Tournament.”

Ahead of the release of “Georgia On My Mind,” Chloe x Halle decided to revisit some of their old music. Because they still can’t tour behind Ungodly Hour, the sister duo decided to revamp it instead. Offering a new take on a deluxe album, Chloe x Halle dropped the “Chrome Edition” of Ungodly Hour, which featured two news songs.

Hear Two New Chloe X Halle Songs On The ‘Chrome Edition’ Of ‘Ungodly Hour’

Last night Chloe X Halle dropped the video for “Ungodly Hour,” the title track off their massive 2020 breakout album. But that wasn’t the only thing they had in store for fans. Since the pandemic has made it impossible for musicians to tour their work, plenty are opting to release a deluxe or revamped version of their records from last year. Chloe X Halle have dubbed theirs the “Chrome Edition” of Ungodly Hour, and dropped the new version tonight. This edition includes two new tracks from the sisters Bailey, and the songs hew a lot closer to gothic pop than the smoldering R&B of the rest of the album.

Not that there aren’t hints of this kind of power on “Tipsy,” but “Hazy” and “80/20” take on an even more confident, swaggering feel — there’s no shying, loved-up narrator on these tracks. Instead, braggadocio and dark beats pepper the new songs, which are ripe for remixes too. And though it’s not fair to constantly compare Chloe and Halle to their mentor, Beyonce, these two songs in particular are reminiscent of some of the more bossed up work she’s been drawn to, especially later in her career. For this duo to already be at that place of extreme confidence at this age? Now that’s the power of a mentor. Check out “Hazy” above and “80/20” below.

Watch Chloe X Halle Dance Side By Side In The Intergalactic, Extravagant ‘Ungodly Hour’ Video

Last year Chloe x Halle broke out in a big way due to their sophomore album Ungodly Hour, a follow-up to 2018’s Kids Are Alright. These sisters have been on the mainstream radar for a while though because of an early co-sign from none other than Beyonce herself, who took them under her wing and has been helping them prepare for the greatness they were clearly destined for. Even during a pandemic and a year of economic chaos, Ungodly Hour became one of the most talked-about R&B records of the year, spawning hits like “Do It” which spawned a star-laden remix featuring Doja Cat, Mulatto and City Girls.

As their profiles have grown — Halle for her role playing Ariel in a new live action version of The Little Mermaid and Chloe for simply just posting photos and videos of herself on social media (haters gonna hate) — they’ve continued to focus on this breakout record. A few days ago they announced that a video for the record’s title track would be dropping this week, and tonight the intergalactic clip is here. Whether they’re cavorting in the ocean wearing studded bodysuits, or shapeshifting in space age glittery dresses, it’s impossible to take your eyes off these two performers, especially when they’re dancing side by side. At one point, Halle even poses with a lit chandelier on her head as a crown. It’s an extravagant, exuberant video to match the tone of the song. Watch the new clip above.

Chloe x Halle Elegantly Narrate A Classic Nigerian Folktale About The Origins Of The Sun And Moon

Sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey may have gotten their start in television before eventually forming their acclaimed music group Chloe x Halle, but their musical success has earned them the opportunity to take on more creative projects. The two are now in front of the camera once again, but this time it’s not for television. Rather, the two appear in a short film that visualizes a Nigerian folktale.

The project was shot as part of their cover story for the March 2021 issue of Vogue. The short is filmed on a rocky beach, depicting the two sisters frolicking in the sand and wearing elegant gowns. Chloe provides a narration of the fable titled “Why The Sun And The Moon Live In The Sky,” which describes origins of the sun, moon, and water.

The story begins by Chloe introducing the characters of water and sun, detailing how they came to meet:

“It is said many, many years ago, the sun and the water were great friends and both live on the earth together. The sun would often visit water, but water never visits sun. The curious sun asked, ‘Why?’ The sun replied, ‘If I visit you, my friend, I will drive you out of your house because I go everywhere with my large family.’ But sun insisted that water should visit, and water therefore warned sun to build a very large house to accommodate his enormous family.”

The short film was directed by Julie Dash, who noted that the two singers were up for anything. “The filming was physically grueling,” Dash said. “Chloe and Halle had to walk half a mile across a stoney beach, wearing long gowns, in the cold morning and later in the heat. I don’t think they knew they were going to get wet, too. They never complained. I was very familiar with the sisters, but did not know how sweet they were!”
