Pardison Fontaine & Cardi B Still Collaborate, He Recalls Giving Her “Be Careful”

During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Pardison Fontaine recalled providing Cardi B with her Invasion Of Privacy track, “Be Careful.” According to him, she knew it was meant to be upon first listen, later making it her own for her debut album. He opened up about his writing process, revealing that the two of them still work together to this day.

“I do it well,” he began. “So I feel like now is the time I really gotta just show that and talk about it.” Pardi continued, explaining how he wrote the song from a woman’s perspective, noting that his verse was initially going to be his response. “She heard the song and was like, ‘I need this,’” he described. “‘I’m taking this.’ She did her thing, flipped it around, all of that.”

Cardi B Knew She Wanted The Song Right Away

Cardi isn’t the only female MC Pardi’s worked with in the past, however. He’s also previously collaborated with the likes of Sexyy Red, and of course, his ex Megan Thee Stallion. The duo worked on her “Savage Remix” as well as her track with Cardi B, “WAP.” Ultimately, things between them didn’t work out, which he says was due to “a laundry list of reasons.” Elsewhere in the interview, he opened up about their split, sharing his take on the controversial public breakup.

“Listen, I’m a person that believes love doesn’t go away,” he explained. “It changes. And that’s another thing I’ve stated. I’ll always want well for her. I’m not a person that wants bad for her. I’m not out here calling her all types of such and such.” What do you think of Pardison Fontaine’s account of working alongside Cardi B? Cardi B Says Her Debut’s Top-20 Ranking On The ‘Rolling Stone’ Greatest Hip-Hop Albums List Was A ‘Setup’

Last month, Rolling Stone shared their list of hip-hop’s 200 greatest albums. Naturally, it’s practically impossible to do something like that without upsetting some legion of rap fans in some corner of the world. In fact, it happens with yearly lists (check out Uproxx’s Best Of 2022 So Far lists while you’re here) so you can only imagine what the reaction would be towards a list filled with albums from the last half-century. One of the talking points from the Rolling Stone list was Cardi B’s debut Invasion Of Privacy. Many felt that the album, which was ranked at No. 16, was placed too high on the list.

During a recent interview on Angela Yee’s Lip Service, Cardi spoke about the list and how she felt it was a “setup.”

“They was dragging me like ‘How dare them put Cardi before Nas,” she said around the interview’s 52-minute mark. “I was like, oh my goodness. I just woke up and I’m getting my ass dragged. I didn’t even ask for this.”

Despite this, Cardi made sure to remind people are the album’s impact.

“I understand that but it’s like, b*tch, I ain’t motherf*cking ask for it,” she added. “You know, I understand that people feel a certain type of way. But don’t try to disrespect me or my work or my album because your mother was listening to my sh*t, your b*tch was driving, listening to f*cking ‘Be Careful.’ All y’all b*tches, all y’all hoes. So it’s like, don’t even try it.”

Still, Cardi wasn’t too pleased with how the list disrupted her peace.

“Of course they’re gonna use a b*tch like me. […] It’s gonna start a stir,” Cardi said. “Yeah, it was, like, a setup. […] Rolling Stone, you trying to set me up. You got my ass dragged on a f*cking Tuesday for no reason.”

Chloe Bailey’s Excellent ‘Be Careful’ Cover Left Cardi B ‘Smiling From Ear To Ear’

It’s been a few months since R&B duo Chloe x Halle created separate social media accounts where they both show off their individual personalities and styles. They made the accounts after Halle Bailey flew over to the United Kingdom in order to film her role in Disney’s live-action rendition of The Little Mermaid.

In the meantime, Chloe Bailey has taken advantage of her individual account to showcase her singing talents. The latest example of this came Saturday night when she posted a cover of Cardi B’s “Be Careful” from the rapper’s 2018 album, Invasion Of Privacy.

The cover was met with immediate praise and fans from all over who showed love to the singer for the excellent vocal performance. Chloe’s rendition of “Be Careful” eventually made its way to Cardi B’s eyes, who also had nothing but good words for the singer.

“This is soo beautiful got me smiling from ear to ear and blushing maa hard,” Cardi wrote on Twitter. “You see this how I thought I sounded on the track.”

Chloe’s rendition of “Be Careful” adds to the growing list of covers she’s shared over the past couple of months. She’s tried her hand at Silk Sonic’s “Leave The Door Open,” The Weeknd’s “Earned It,” Giveon’s “Heartbreak Anniversary,” and Yung Bleu’s “You’re Mine Still.”
