“Breaking Bad” Stars: Where Are They Now?

Breaking Bad, masterminded by Vince Gilligan and running for five seasons from 2008 to 2013, is arguably one of the best television series from start to finish, largely due to an all-star cast of characters like Aaron Paul and Bob Odenkirk. Ranking among the greatest TV shows of all time, Breaking Bad won 16 Emmy Awards and six Critics Choice Television Awards. It was named the most critically acclaimed show ever by Guinness World Records in 2013—the same year its devastating series finale aired. The ground-breaking AMC production chronicled Walter White’s descent from a mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher to a murderous drug kingpin after he devised a plan to cook methamphetamine following a cancer diagnosis.

The show shattered TV tropes by presenting a protagonist who significantly evolved, catching viewers off-guard as Bryan Cranston, previously known for comedic roles like the Seinfeld dentist and Malcolm in the Middle dad, delivered an Emmy-winning dramatic performance as the doomed Walter White. The show’s success spawned the 2019 movie El Camino and the spin-off series Better Call Saul (2015-2022), reuniting fans with the beloved characters in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial. With the series’ spectacular run presenting further opportunities, here’s what Cranston and the rest of the Breaking Bad stars have been up to, from maintaining friendships to winning Tony awards and running breweries.

He returned to his Breaking Bad role in the 2019 film El Camino and the final season of Better Call Saul. Cranston also won a second Tony for the Network Broadway adaptation in 2018. ‘Breaking Bad’ Stars Bryan Cranston And Aaron Paul Made Drinks And Danced At Drake’s Birthday Party

For one night, Breaking Bad turned into Drake-ing Bad (sorry).

Rapper Drake, who released his eighth studio album For All the Dogs earlier this month, turned 37 years old on Tuesday. To celebrate, he held a birthday party at Casadonna in Miami, Florida, with two celebrity bartenders: Breaking Bad actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. According to TMZ, “the two stars showed up floral shirts and all to Drake’s Miami bash… which likely served as an easy promotion for Bryan and Aaron’s Dos Hombres mezcal brand.”

In a video shared on Instagram by Drake’s producer BNYX, Paul can be overheard telling someone that a “Negroni is the easiest drink to make.” What about a Vodka Red Bull? Actually, never mind. I’m not going to argue with Jesse Pinkman. He’s been through enough.

“It’s important for Bryan and I, as founders of this company, that [our business partners] know that we are doing the work. We don’t want to just slap our names on something and let other people do the work,” Paul told MSNBC about Dos Hombres. “This is our baby, and we’re incredibly proud of our baby.” He added, “It’s brutal, but we have a good time doing it.”

Please enjoy Bryan Cranston getting loose on the dance floor. You deserve it.

Penn Badgley Calls Aaron Paul’s “Breaking Bad” Jesse Pinkman Role “The One That Got Away”

Hollywood is flooded with stories of actors who were *thisclose* to landing coveted roles, and Penn Badgley is sharing his story about the one that got away. Many of us remember the chokehold Breaking Bad had on the world during its reign. Bryan Cranston dominated as the conflicted Walter White, and Aaron Paul portrayed Jesse Pinkman, his troubled sidekick. In an interview with Buzzfeed, Badgley revealed the part of Pinkman came down to him and Paul.

“We tested. And actually that was the best television script I’d read, at that point. That was the one that got away,” the You actor admitted. During the time, Badgley was also in the running for Gossip Girl, and he ended up landing that role. The missed opportunity for Breaking Bad is a story that Paul also previously shared.

Years ago, Paul recalled seeing Badgley walk in to audition and believing he would lose out. “Right when he walked in, I was like, ‘Oh my God, that guy looks like a meth addict,’” Paul told Entertainment Weekly back in 2020. “In a good way! He was just in the role. I was like, ‘This guy is going to steal it from me.’”

These days, Badgley is haunting Netflix on You, a stalker series that has captivated audiences. We’re in the thick of Season 4, and while Badgley is enjoying the show’s success, he revealed one thing he isn’t comfortable with. In a recent interview with Variety, the actor said he wished he didn’t have to do so many sex scenes. It’s something that the married father said is important to not have because of his “real life.”

“My fidelity in my relationship,” Badgley shared. “It’s important to me. And actually, it was one of the reasons that I initially wanted to turn the role down. I didn’t tell anybody that. But that is why.” Additionally, it was reported in Season 4, all of the sex scenes were reportedly filmed fully clothed.

Giancarlo Esposito Hints At Gus Fring Spin-Off: “Vince Gilligan Told Me It Is Not Over Until It’s Over”

giancarlo esposito

Breaking Bad is often regarded as one of, and to some people, the greatest TV shows of all time. Characters like Walter White, Jesse Pinkman, Saul Goodman, and Gus Fring have become idolized in the canon of TV show characters. Even after the show ended, Saul Goodman received his spin-off Better Call Saul, and fans have been wanting and speculating a potential spin-off about the early days of Gus Fring, played by Giancarlo Esposito.

With just 6 episodes left in the final season of Better Call Saul, Esposito appeared on a Late Show With James Corden. He was asked if fans could ever expect a spin-off about the origins of Gus Fring.

“It’s over. It’s going to be over,” Esposito said before revealing that series creator Vince Gilligan might be ready to explore the origins of Esposito’s character.

“Vince Gilligan said to me, ‘It is not over until it’s over,” he added. “Is that a clue? For me, I think it may be a clue because as an actor I take that [to mean] ‘There could be something else.’”

Esposito went on to say, “In my brain, there is another show…called ‘The Rise of Gus.’”

However, this is not the first time Esposito has hinted at the possibility of a Gus Fring spin-off. In an interview with Insider in April, the actor said that he feels like there is enough material to possibly explore the rise of Gus Fring.

“The last days [on set of Better Call Saul], I’m tearing up and looking over my shoulder and I hear Vince say, ‘You never know,’” Esposito said.  “And so, I’ve always wanted, and felt like, there’s room for material for the rise of Gus. I feel like it’d be interesting to know where he came from.”

Esposito added, “I feel like he came from a really wealthy family, had the opportunity to run, not only the family but government in another country. He had that kind of brain, that charisma, that stature, and he traded it in because he wanted to be his own man. There’s something fascinating to me about that.”

You can watch the full clip below. The conversation about a potential spin-off starts around the 5:05 mark.
