The Kid Laroi And Justin Bieber’s ‘Stay’ Is No. 1 On The Hot 100 Chart For The Third Week Straight

Rising star The Kid Laroi recently made history as the first Australian artist to go No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 40 years for his Justin Bieber collaboration “Stay.” Now continuing the streak, “Stay” remains at No. 1 for a third week in a row.

The Billboard Hot 100 chart dated August 28 was released Monday, showing a lot of familiar names. According to Billboard, “Stay” gained 51.3 million radio airplay impressions, 32.7 million US streams, and 14,400 downloads this week, up an impressive 14 percent from the week prior. While “Stay” continued to hover at No. 1, Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” jumped from No. 3 to No. 2, switching places with Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good For U.”

This week also saw Lizzo’s “Rumors” make its chart debut this week. The Cardi B-featuring track landed at No. 4 on the Hot 100, earning the singer her third-ever top ten track, following “Truth Hurts” and “Good As Hell.” For Cardi, “Rumors” is her tenth top ten single, which includes five No. 1 tracks. “Rumors” debuted with 30.1 million radio impressions, 20.9 million streams, and 25,200 physical and digital sales.

Lizzo shared the news of her “Rumors” success on Twitter, writing, “I calmed down & I’m locked in.. AND MY RECORDS LIVE IN THE TOP TEN.” Continuing her celebration, Lizzo graced her Twitter followers with a photo of her butt as a thank-you to her fans.

The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ Is Now The Longest-Charting Song Of All Time

When last week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart was released, it was noted that The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” had tied Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” for the most time spent on the chart, and it was therefore one week away from claiming the record outright. Sure enough, on the latest Hot 100 (dated August 21), “Blinding Lights” is on it for the 88th week and is now the longest-charting song in the history of the Hot 100. The song was released on November 29, 2019, and despite all the time that has passed between then and now, it’s still high up on the charts, at No. 18 this week.

Additionally, aside from the new feat, “Blinding Lights” also holds the record for most weeks spent in the top 5, top 10, top 20, and top 40 of the chart.

It was a good week on the chart for The Weeknd beyond that as well: His latest single, “Take My Breath,” makes its debut on the chart at No. 6, making it his 13th top-10 song on the chart.

Meanwhile, The Weeknd is gearing up for a new album, of which “Take My Breath” is the first look. He recently said of the album, “The music hit the studio like a Mack truck. The new project is packed with party records. Like real-deal, illuminated-white-tiles-on-the-floor party records. Quincy Jones meets Giorgio Moroder meets the best-night-of-your-f*cking-life party records.”

Bruno Mars And Anderson .Paak’s Silk Sonic Hit ‘Leave The Door Open’ Returns To No. 1 For A Second Week

Usually, Billboard reveals the top ten spots of its weekly Hot 100 singles chart on Mondays. However, that news was delayed this week. Finally, though, on Wednesday morning, the chart dated May 22 was unveiled. On it, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s Silk Sonic single “Leave The Door Open” returns to the No. 1 spot for a second week.

“Leave The Door Open” first topped the charts on the Hot 100 dated April 17. The four-week gap between No. 1 Hot 100 placements is the longest for a song since Post Malone’s “Circles” had a four-week gap between its second and third No. 1 weeks, on the charts dated December 7, 2019 and January 11, 2020.

.Paak was pretty stoked when the song hit No. 1 for the first time, as he wrote at the time, “Ima stretch this goose neck to The moooon!! All I can say is thank you!!!! To have a song like this debut in the hot 100 ( my first song to ever make it up there ) is truly amazing. It can’t happen without hard work and yalls support. Thanks for pushing everyone to greatness @brunomars and showing us new heights! I’ll never come down!! let’s keep rising! We love you for this!!! Y’all gonna have me faded all damn week!!”

Other notable takeaways from this week’s chart are Dua Lipa and DaBaby’s “Levitating” reaching a new peak at No. 2 and J. Cole’s “Interlude” debuting at No. 8.

Billboard explained the reasoning behind the announcement delay, writing, “The announcement of this week’s Hot 100 was delayed by approximately 48 hours while Billboard and MRC Data conducted standard audits on reported data, working with data partners to recognize and resolve anomalies.”

Polo G Enjoys A Second Straight Week At No. 1 On The Hot 100 Chart With ‘Rapstar’

Polo G made history last week when his hit single “Rapstar” became just the 52nd song to ever debut in the No. 1 spot of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Now his run of prosperity continues: On the Hot 100 chart dated May 1, “Rapstar” stays at No. 1 for a second consecutive week. Of all the songs to ever debut at No. 1, “Rapstar” is just the 22nd of them to spend its second week on top.

After “Rapstar” debuted at No. 1 last week, Polo G shared his excitement, writing on Instagram, “It’s Crazy I really Manifested this sh*t. It’s not every day that a song debuts on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In fact, only a few dozen songs have ever pulled that off (51 prior to this week, to be precise). Now, Polo G’s “Rapstar” has been added to that list, as the hit single as debut on top of the Hot 100 dated April 24. The song’s success came thanks in part to the third biggest streaming week of the year, behind only two weeks of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License.”

Quickly after the news was made official, Polo G shared his excitement on social media, writing on Instagram, “It’s Crazy I really Manifested this sh*t. Silk Sonic’s ‘Leave The Door Open’ Reaches No. 1 On The ‘Billboard’ Hot 100

Billboard has revealed this week’s Hot 100 chart and it looks like Lil Nas X left the door open for this week’s No. 1: Silk Sonic (Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars) and their debut single as a duo, “Leave The Door Open.” Silk Sonic’s song jumped up from No. 3 thanks to 21.5 million U.S. streams and 28,600 copies, downloads, and CDs combined over the past week. It marks .Paak’s first-ever No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Bruno Mars’ eighth after his most recent, “That’s What I Like,” in 2017.

Silk Sonic’s gain is Lil Nas X’s loss as his controversial cut “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” drops to No. 2. Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” with Daniel Caesar and Giveon similarly moves down one slot to No. 3, while Cardi B maintains her hold on the fourth position with “Up.” Meanwhile, teen star Olivia Rodrigo secures two spots this week: one for her former No. 1 “Driver’s License,” and a No. 8 debut for her newly released track “Deja Vu.” The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” (No. 5) and “Blinding Lights” (No. 9), Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” with DaBaby (No. 8), and newcomer Masked Wolf’s “Astronaut In The Ocean” round out the top ten.

Lil Nas X Celebrates ‘Montero’ Debuting At No. 1 On The Hot 100 With A New Video For The Song

Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” was easily the defining song of last week-plus, as it was discussed everywhere from Saturday Night Live to Fox News. Now the charts are mirroring that: “Montero” has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated April 10. It’s his first single to debut at No. 1 and his second chart-topper ever, following “Old Town Road.” Lil Nas X now just one of a handful of artists with multiple No. 1 singles since 2019.

Lil Nas X celebrated the feat in a number of ways yesterday. One of those was dropping a new video for the song, subtitled “Official Video except its not the official video at all.” As opposed to the high-production original video, this one is a behind-the-scenes video, showing clips of Nas recording the song and spending time with friends and family.

The rapper also had a lot to say on Twitter. His initial reaction was heartfelt, as he wrote, “y’all told a 19 year old who had just escaped the lowest point of his life that he would never have a hit again. you told him to stop while he’s ahead. he could’ve gave up. but 4 multi platinum songs and 2 #1’s later, he’s still here. thank you to my team and my fans! ily.” After some jokes and meme tweets, he later added, “all jokes aside, we get to control our own destiny, never let the world decide it for you. no matter how dark it may look keep f*cking going!”

Cardi B’s ‘Up’ Is Now Her Fifth No. 1 Song On The Hot 100 Chart And She’s Beyond Excited

“Drivers License” has spent a lot of time at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year, but its run is over now. Last week, Drake ended Olivia Rodrigo’s eight-week run on top with three songs in the top three spots, and yet again, there’s a new song at No. 1 this week. This time, on the Hot 100 chart dated March 27, Cardi B’s “Up” is up from its previous peak at No. 2 and has now taken the No. 1 spot for the first time.

“Up” is now Cardi’s fifth No. 1 hit, which extends her record for the most No. 1 songs by a female rapper. This also makes her the first female rapper with two No. 1 songs with no features on them (the first was “Bodak Yellow”). In the period between the week when “Bodak Yellow” went No. 1 in 2017 to now, Cardi is tied for the most No. 1 songs during that stretch, alongside Drake and Ariana Grande.

Another bit of trivia: “Up” is the second-shortest No. 1 song of all time in terms of song title length, with just two characters. The only No. 1 song shorter than it in name is Britney Spears’ “3.”

Cardi offered a quick reaction to the news, writing on Instagram, “I want God to come see me in my dreams when I take my nap today so I can kiss his feet and tell him how much I love him !!! Yoooooo sh*t is amazing yoooooo .I got no words .Actually I got a lot of words but I can’t type it all NUMBER 1!!!!!”

Anderson .Paak Is Thrilled About Making The Hot 100 Chart For The First Time

Over the course of his career, Anderson .Paak has been gradually climbing his way up the Billboard charts. His four albums — Venice, Malibu, Oxnard, and Ventura — have performed progressively better on the Billboard 200: .Paak’s debut didn’t chart, then the other three records peaked respectively at Nos. 79, 11, and 4. This hasn’t translated to success on the Hot 100 chart for .Paak, though, as prior to this week, he never had a song appear on the chart.

That changed this week, however, thanks to his new supergroup with Bruno Mars, Silk Sonic. The band’s debut single, “Leave The Door Open,” debuted at No. 4 on the Hot 100 chart dated March 20. Getting on the Hot 100 is a major milestone, so naturally, .Paak is pretty excited.
