Pat McAfee Apologizes For Out Of Pocket Caitlin Clark Comments: “That’s 100% On Me And For That I apologize.”

In response to the criticism, Pat McAfee says he shouldn’t have used the term to characterize Caitlin Clark and that he personally apologized to her for the error. “No matter the context.. even if we’re talking about race being a reason for some of the stuff happening,” McAfee said on twitter. “I have way too much respect for her and women to put that into the universe.” He adde, “My intentions when saying it were complimentary just like the entire segment but, a lot of folks are saying that it certainly wasn’t at all. That’s 100% on me and for that I apologize.”

After calling Caitlin Clark a “white bitch” during a heated tirade about WNBA coverage on Monday, Pat McAfee, an ESPN broadcaster, is now receiving blowback for the remarks. The “Pat McAfee Show” began with an angry monologue from the former punter for the Indianapolis Colts. He described how tired of hearing people say that the WBNA is becoming more and more popular because of the rookie class that included players like Angel Reese, Cameron Brink, and Clark. To make his argument, McAfee put on a presentation akin to a game show, highlighting how Clark is outperforming her fellow first-year pros in terms of TV ratings, jersey sales, and attendance.

In response to the assertions that Clark’s race contributes to her notoriety, he said that the fact that she is white is meaningless because numerous other well-known players in the league, like Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Kelsey Plum, are all Caucasian. He shockingly said, “I would like the media people that continue to say, ‘This rookie class, this rookie class, this rookie class,’” McAfee said minutes ago. “Nah, just call it for what it is — there’s one white bitch for the Indiana team who is a superstar.”

“Is there a chance that people just enjoy watching her play basketball because of how electrifying she is, what she did, what she stood for, how she went about going what she went for? Maybe,” he added. “But instead, we have to hear people say that we all like her ’cause she’s white and she’s only popular because the rest of the rookie class is doing what they’re doing.” Pat is walking back his statements but with his platform, he is allowed to pretty much do whatever he wants with no consequences. Overall, the Caitlin Clark discourse is getting toxic and people like McAffee are a big reason why.

Yesterday, ESPN basketball analyst Monica McNutt called out Stephen A. Smith during First Take while debating the WNBA. Monday’s First Take included a contentious conversation between Shannon Sharpe, Monica McNutt, and Stephen A. Smith over the hard foul on Caitlin Clark. McNutt criticized Stephen A. in her closing remarks for waiting until this year to bring up the WNBA. Stephen A. Smith was left stunned and clearly outdone by Monica’s fair criticism. She responded to Smith saying, , “Stephen A., respectfully, with your platform, you could have been doing this three years ago if you wanted to.”

It came after Stephen A. Smith was taking credit for covering women’s sports before anybody else, and McNutt checked him on that fact. Now Stephen A. Smith has responded. Stephen A. Smith is refusing to accept Monica McNutt’s remarks. Later yesterday evening, on his podcast, the ESPN personality addressed the jabs the two had exchanged on “First Take” on Monday. Stephen A. Smith went at Monica McNutt’s credibility while also simultaneously praising her, kind of like when someone says “no offense” before saying something offensive. Overall, the dig really got to Stephen A., but he is not taking it well.

After going on a long tirade about Clark’s influence on the WNBA, Stephen A. Smith addressed the argument with McNutt, claiming that her remarks on the ESPN debate program “absolutely shocked” him. Stephen A. then took responsibility for several ESPN women’s careers saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, I am the executive producer of First Take. You ever heard of Monica McNutt? You have now. Because she’s on First Take a lot. Chiney Ogwumike, absolutely wonderful, spectacular basketball analyst. … ask her how it’s been to be on First Take. How about Andraya Carter? Who’s a rising star in this business. How much do you think First Take helped that? What about Kimberley Martin? What about Molly Qerim herself?”

Smith went on to criticize the individuals from whom he had “taken a lot of s–t” before describing what he believed McNutt to have said about him as “factually incorrect” and “highly offensive.” He continued, “I challenge anybody to find a show on sports television that discusses women’s issues that discuss the WNBA, or women’s sports that highlights and profiles female analysts more than ‘First Take.’ It’s been going on for years.” Smith said that even if McNutt and he disagreed, he would still “support” each other. Overall, it might have been an overreaction from Stephen A. Smith.

Moreover, it led to Young recalling the time he saw The Game punch an off-duty cop in the middle of a match.

This is an event that went down about a decade ago, and it ultimately led to The Game taking a plea deal where he had to be placed on probation. On May 31, 2024, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office released a statement detailing how deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash. The accident involved a Vanderhall Carmel three-wheeled autocycle and a GMC Sierra pickup truck. The casualty occurred at S. Springwater Road near S. Stevens Road in unincorporated Clackamas County, just outside Portland, Oregon. In the statement, the Sheriff’s Office identified Drew E. Gordon as the driver of the Vanderhall. Sadly, Drew died at the scene. Meanwhile, the GMC had two occupants: the 25-year-old driver, Navarro Quintor, from Oregon City, and an unidentified passenger. Navarro and the passenger were transported to a local hospital, where they received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office further said that its inter-agency Criminal Reconstruction and Forensic Technicians (CRAFT) team visited the scene. Their preliminary investigation indicated that Drew crossed over the center line with his vehicle and collided with the GMC. Although impairment didn’t appear to be a factor in the collision, the Sheriff’s Office noted that they were still carrying out investigations.

Drew’s brother Aaron Gordon’s team, the Denver Nuggets, shared a post on X mourning his demise. The post featured a black-and-white photo of Drew and Aaron touching hands while facing opposite directions. Accompanying the picture was a tribute that read, “1990 – 2024 Drew Gordon. The Denver Nuggets Organization is devastated to learn about the tragic passing of Drew Gordon. Drew was far too young to leave this world, but his legacy will forever live on through his three beautiful children and all of his loved ones.” The Denver Nuggets concluded their tribute by commiserating with Aaron and the Gordon family as they deal with Drew’s death.

Meanwhile, former Orlando Magic star Michael Carter-Williams posted a tribute on X. He wrote, “Rest in paradise Drew Gordon. A great husband, father and teammate. @Double0AG I’m praying for you and your family. I love you and I’m sorry for your loss .” Former Los Angeles Lakers player Earvin Magic Johnson also paid tribute to Drew. Despite not being as popular as his younger brother, Aaron, Drew enjoyed a successful basketball career. According to CBS Sports, he began his college career at UCLA, where he enjoyed two fairly successful years. Afterward, he transferred to New Mexico for his junior season. Drew was impressive at New Mexico, averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds per game in two seasons. However, he didn’t make the 2012 NBA Draft though he still played for the Dallas Mavericks in the Summer League.

Drew moved to Serbia to play in the Euroleague. He joined Partizan and played there for a season, averaging 9.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Pat McAfee has now thrown his hat into the defense team for Caitlin Clark in a wild rant on his ESPN show. It was inevitable that Pat McAfee would talk about the incident on his TV program as soon as it was revealed that he was there at Saturday’s Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky game, which saw Sky player Chennedy Carter push Fever guard Caitlin Clark to the ground. McAfee attacked unidentified WNBA players and the media, defending Clark’s status as the lone superstar in the rookie class for about ten minutes. He used the terms “cash cow” and “one white b—- who is a superstar” to emphasize his points.

McAfee began the show by talking about how Clark has been the target of a lot of trash talk from players on other teams. He had a message for the sports media and former WNBA players. “There seems to be this notion that this whole evolution of success and popularity in the WNBA is because of this entire rookie class. I think there’s a chance Chennedy Carter thinks [Sky rookie forward] Angel Reese deserves all this credit. The media talks about how it’s the entire class,” McAfee said. He says that there is only one person in the rookie class who matters, and that is Caitlin Clark. He then went off the handle.

The unexpected statement from McAfee came just as he was about to conclude the program, though. He said, “I would like the media people that continue to say, ‘This rookie class, this rookie class, this rookie class’. Nah, just call it for what it is — there’s one white b—- for the Indiana team who is a superstar.” using that language crosses a very hard line. It doesn’t matter if it’s a compliment or meant as a positive, it is disrespectful. Fans have been going at Pat McAffee since he made the shocking statements. WNBA referees and anonymous critics were the targets of McAfee’s subsequent tirades.

The WNBA is a majority-black league, but there have been white superstars plenty in the WNBA both past and present. The Caitlin Clark situation has created a discourse chamber that benefits form people who don’t really care about women’s basketball getting riled up about Clark. Overall, if this continues at this rate, the WNBA season will keep devolving into these same toxic talking points.

Some of the coverage has gotten out of hand with personalities like Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe now speaking as authorities on a sport they have not shown an interest in until this season. ESPN basketball analyst Monica McNutt called out Stephen A. Smith during First Take while debating the WNBA.

This past weekend, after Clark’s Fever narrowly defeated Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, things reached a fever pitch. Before the game, Clark had expressed that she thought she was being “hammered” and wasn’t receiving the calls she deserved. However, late in the third quarter, Sky guard Chennedy Carter, who was waiting for an inbound pass, slammed her down from behind. The foul caused the Caitlin Clark discourse to get even worse. When the topic of the event came up at the First Take desk on Monday, Stephen A. Smith, Shannon Sharpe, and Monica McNutt got into a heated debate over it. McNutt concluded by criticizing Stephen A. for not bringing up the WNBA until this year.

Cam’ron Fires Back At Anthony Edwards With A Savage Freestyle

Anthony Edwards and Adidas took a shot at the wrong podcaster. In reaction to Adidas including the rapper in a commercial directed at Edwards’ detractors, Cam’ron unleashed a scathing freestyle, criticizing the Minnesota Timberwolves guard for using the term “f–k buddy.” While the barbs directed at Edwards were not too harmful, Cam’ron’s rage was directed mostly against Adidas. Before delivering the finest line of the freestyle, Cam’ron blamed Adidas for the injuries to John Wall, Tracy McGrady, and Derrick Rose. He rapped. “You know Kevin Ware? Google what was on his toes.”

The guard for Louisville, Ware, had a horrific leg injury during the 2013 NCAA tournament. Adidas and Louisville have a sponsorship deal. Cam’ron also warned that Adidas might fire Edwards if he said something the brand “didn’t like.” He alluded to Kanye West, whose relationship with Adidas was terminated. Naturally, that’s not quite true. Adidas supported West through many scandals until deciding to fire him following a string of racist outbursts. Anthony Edwards may have bit off more than he can chew, dissing Cam’ron who was quick with a response.

Edwards has not yet replied, so it would be best to avoid this one. A basketball player can only become so involved in a rap feud, and Cam’ron has only put out one album in the previous fifteen years. He still has a lot of bars in storage, so he probably won’t think twice about continuing this feud—especially if it ends up increasing the number of people who listen to his podcast. Adidas and any other marketing outlet should take note of this: even in jest, don’t utilize rappers as the brunt of your joke. You never know when anything may go wrong.

Overall, Anthony Edwards and Cam’ron will probably be cool after all of this. Cam had no problem showing Ant love on the podcast, and the commercial obviously hit a sore spot since he likes Edwards as a player. It would be shocking if Anthony Edwards released his own freestyle in the coming days. If that unlikely event happens, we will be sure to cover it.
